Like a naughty Easter version of The Nightmare Before Christmas mixed with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. . . Don't let her habit of constantly wearing bunny ears fool you. Charlee hates Easter. And she has good reason to. So, on the day before her 18th birthday, she wasn't expecting to meet the Easter Bunny, a person-sized gummi egg, and a large toad. But that's what happens when she and two other teenagers are transported to Easter Land. Charlee ponders the teenage girl made out of gummi with huge boobs, and the teenage boy in a wheelchair with an overdeveloped upper body. A black-clad princess informs them that they must compete to decide which of the three creatures will be the future egg deliverer. But a mysterious man tied to a dark holiday known as SinEaster is also aware of the teens' arrival. Some say that in the days of prophesy, SinEaster will destroy Easter. Will Easter go on as usual, or will it be cancelled this year? By the author of Malice in Wonderland and Merry XXXmas, Charlee Frown.
Lotus Rose is like this generation’s twisted, more adult version of Roald Dahl. And since Lotus wrote a continuation of Alice in Wonderland, he’s also like the demented doppelganger of Lewis Carroll. But he’s not like one of those doppelgangers who kills the original then takes their place, because Lewis Carroll is already dead. Really, though, Lotus is a sweetheart. His style can best be described as “children’s stories for adults.” He retains all the best of children’s literature—the imagination, the playfulness, the outright weirdness—then adds an additional layer of mature themes and subjects. And often with a dark sense of humor. So, if you ever wanted to revisit your childhood, to reexperience the wonder of children’s literature, but without all the innocent naivety holding you back, the Lotus Rose books are sure to deliver. From The Poniworld Chronicles, to The Malice in Wonderland Saga to The Twisted Holiday Specials, you’ll love his twisted takes on sacred childhood institutions, and are guaranteed to laugh throughout.
Here's a short poem he wrote:
O, shall I be like the lotus, And bring you dark dreams and soft sighs? Or shall I be like the rose is, Sweet-scented and tempting your eyes?
For the unending sleep can seduce you, To the world behind unseeing eyes. And the beauty that beckons, then cuts you, Is also the cruelest of lies.

Sin-Easter Charlie has had some horrible things to happen on Easter. The worse of all is the memory of being tied to a chair by her father and having her mom called into the room only to find out that years ago her father caught her mother having sex with another man in an Easter bunny costume, and somehow has a DVD of it. Her father has set off a timer and tells her mother if she can find the egg containing her wedding ring they can try to work it out but if the timer goes off and she hasn’t he’ll kill her. She does find the egg containing her ring, but not in time. He blows her head off and then he turns the gun on himself. Ever since Charlee has picked up the odd habit of wearing bunny hears and a cryptogram.
Charlee finds herself transported by a portal in Easter Land where she’s greeted by Princess Megan (who introduces them to the other occupants of the land Easter Bunny, Toad, and Grumpty Dumpty). Princess Megan introduces the other two “Chosen Ones”: an African American boy in a wheelchair Deon “Toad-Boy” and a girl that looks like she’s made of plastic Silvia- “Gummi Girl”.
They’re there to compete in a contest to see who will be the Easter deliver between Gumpty, the Toad, and the Bunny. Devon, Charlee, and Silvia find out the shocking news that they’re the offspring of the bunny, toad, and egg. In their world, their features come out different (Charlee’s bunny ears are real in Easter Land, Silvia is made all of gummy material in Easter Land, Devon is crippled in the real world but In Easter land, he walks like a frog would and can hop). Charlee goes off on the Easter bunny for destroying her family and sending the DVD, but he says he never sent a DVD and the sex he and her mother had was voluntary. The winner of the contest gets to be the King or Queen of Easter land. Charlee doesn’t want anything to do with it. If one of them wins they can turn over their rights to the creature they represent. Also, if they win, they’ll gain powers and be over the rules of Easter land, but they can forfeit and go home. Charlee decides that she doesn’t want to turn the responsibilities over to one of the strange creatures.
A man on a throne seems happy that the prophecy is coming true and he’ll soon find his Queen (who’ll cure his loneliness). The first part of the challenge is they all have to come up with an Easter song that mentions the creature they represent, spring, and easter eggs. They all have 3o minutes. Deon’s that mentions disabilities wins. Charlee’s bold song about her father killing her mother comes in second. The nest tests have parts. The first is a riddle given by the Easter Bunny to future out. The second is a quest for an ancient relic and finding out the answer to one of Easter land's mysteries of history. They’re all given The History of Easter Island and the Prophesy Poem.
Once inside Pink Valley, Charlee is taken to the Jelly Bean River Charlee realizes the Jelly Bean Lake is all the human girl’s sexuality and the land itself is about fertility energy. So, in order to transfer the bunnies’ power to her, she has an instinct to have them all cuddle with her. (Only in doing so one of them is smooshed and dies) With her new “fuzzy power”, she’s able to jump into the Jelly Bean Lake and be directed right to the jelly bean in the prophecy. Charlee’s new power seems to be telekinesis. Outside the Blind Bunny’s house, Charlee finds the wizard dead with a circular object in his chest. After agreeing to have sex with the Blind Rabbit since none of the other pink bunnies will give him any (unknown to him Charlee uses a dead rabbit) the Blind Rabbit tells about the boiled egg (who is the son of the King that was turned into a toad but killed). The last time he saw it he was following the Princess into the Dark Forest. The egg got away and floated into the river connected to the Sin Easter Area. This area being a dark area that represents fornication. The area is growing and feeding on dark desires. In Easter land, it’s also a holiday. It’s not, particularly a threat *yet*, After leaving she takes the Glaive from around the skeleton’s next and the instructions to use it. (The pink bunny it turns out wasn’t dead just sleeping).
Deon is dropped off in the Dark Forest and told he has to find the sidu candy. His second mission is to find Princes Cinnamon. Deon heads toward the Lagoon hearing the beautiful singing of amphibians inside his head. But then he starts to think of drowning himself. Something pulls him back. Then the voices start whispering more sinister things like to kill himself. He starts to connect to four amphibian’s and everything else stops. The voice introduces themselves as Brooke, Phoebe Milla, and Princes Cinnamon. Princess Cinny says they use to be humans but their spirits are stuck in tad pole bodies. She says that he has broken the spell of the river controlling them. They learn they can all communicate telepathically because their half amphibian half-human. The girls lure the heartbroken there (just as they were lured there) to drown. Unfortunately, Cinny doesn’t know where her human body is. Deon performs a magical dance (naked) and takes the slime of the tadpole girls (thus taking some of their power). After being covered in the slime, he gets a sense that leads him to a Chocolate Waterfall. In a cave behind the waterfall, he finds four chocolate bodies -that turn out to be the bodies of the women-. He also finds the candy He tries to return the body of the Princess to the tadpole in hopes that someone in the castle can find a way to fix it and the others- but a licorice snake drags it away underwater and heads for Sin Easter Valley.
Silvia must find the icing eyes and what happened to Humpty Dumpty in the Gummi Sector. King Sinous (a snake) says that he’ll give Silvia all the answers if she’ll ride him and take off her top (she has really big breasts). She does consent to have the gummi worms rub all over her. As soon as she does, she gets the urge to take her top off. Silvia’s body turns pure gummi and inside her implants are the iced eyes (because guys have rather looked at her eyes stared at her chest). Silvia finds out from the nake that her magical power is the pureness of her heart-once people look into it, they can’t lie to her-. The Snake doesn’t know what happened to Humpty Dumpty but he tells her about how the Gummi’s are forsaken because of the Bunny and how it’s his destiny to break the wall of Sin Easter. And she decides to ride the Snake after all before she leaves.
Dead gets full points for completing both tasks. So does Charlie. Silvia only gets points for the candy (which Charlee uses her gift to remove). They all sense that they need to be in Sin Easter when nothing happens when the candies are reunited. Since King Sinuous doesn’t really know how to break the wall, they all start to rub him to transfer their fertility energy. Using both heads the snake breaks the wall down. The ugly man turns out to be Antibol-the egg in the basket- By using all the candies combined, the glaive, and laying Cinny’s body in the river to reunite with her soul, the Princess is reawakened. She and Antibol decide to marry and she will live in Sin Easter. Silvia then uses her “heart” (breast) to make Grumpty confess he’s really Humpty and the Easter Bunny that he was the one who put the others asleep. It’s also revealed that he knew the prophecy and was the one to tear of the page (he already knew Charlee would turn it over to him) and he was the one that sent the DVD so Charlee would hate Easter. He’d rule Easter and take his revenge out on the children (who he felt disrespected by). Deon and Silvia tie and win as the rulers. The Bunny grabs the Princess and rips the glaive off her neck. He tries to throw it at Charlee. It boomerangs back and kills him. After ward Easter baskets are filled with all the contents from the story. The Monday after Sin Easter Day is celebrated for the adults (with more adult things from the story).
My Thoughts: The twist of them all being the offspring of ANIMALS was enough. All the other freaky porn-ish details in this didn’t make it good. I guess I forgot because I read Black Hearts Day and liked it so much that I forgot all about Faeurere Brae Face and what a freak this author tends to be. And then why did this break into musical number sections. I don’t even like musical episodes. Half the time I can even pass on musicals themselves! I just didn’t have a lot of thoughts or feelings for this one. It left my mind completely blank. Sometimes I thought it went way too far trying to give shock value (the Easter bunny that rapes the other bunnies, the Chocolate Bunny that the other “pink” bunnies won’t touch or have sex with, etc). I like twisted from time to time but this just wasn't it!
Ladies and gentlemen, brought to you by the twisted mind of Lotus Ross. A twisted version of a holiday that only the creator of SinEaster and Malice in Wonderland could be proud of, and the rest of us can laugh, cringe, and wonder why. But Charlee, Dion, and Silvia, who are kidnapped from this reality, will have to each go on a quest to see who becomes the future deliverer of the eggs for Easter.
This tale made me laugh, made me cringe, and left me wondering why he put that in print, and for all I know, it could be true. But I could just see this being made into a movie and what the raters would think of some of the scenes. A definite NC17+, a book for adults only.
While I liked this book, I have to give it four stars out of five stars because, in this politically correct era, some of the subject matter contained herein is awfully close, if not over the line.
