When your past bites you in the backside. Literally!
I’m doing my best to cope with my new life as The Sun of House Aurora. Navigating relentless twists and turns while also dealing with my career as a supermodel. Or lack of one. Talk about messy!
My existence is cloaked in shadows, the public not ready for the return of sacred witches into their lives right now. But it’s only a matter of time before this takes a turn. I can feel it in my bones.
If that wasn’t complicated enough, I’m falling for a guy who doesn’t want me. Ollie occupies my mind morning, noon, and night. I can't stop drooling over his muscles, longing to know more about him. He's a mystery wrapped in epic deliciousness. Yet all I seem to get is a searing glare or icy indifference. Sigh. Isn’t that always the way?
But why do I get a vibe that there might be more there beneath the chilliness? Is it just wishful thinking or is there a hidden something there?
To muddy the waters, along comes my ex-boyfriend to fuzzy my brain when he suggests we could start up again. But he only confuses me for like five minutes, because we didn’t end well the first time, and he isn’t the man I remember. Not by a long shot. He’s got some seriously sinister motives, posing a threat not only to the city, but the entire world.
Darn it! Things are about to get wild!
Solar Shadows is the third book in the Celestial Magic series. And it’s Isaac’s turn (a.k.a. The Sun)! Dive into a twisty M/M Paranormal Romance tale following three witch brothers facing their destiny and navigating their hearts. Step into a world of magic, action, deadly secrets, romance, and plenty of found family vibes.
This book is not a standalone.
Each brother will eventually have his turn in the spotlight as the series progresses, moving the overarching plot toward its epic conclusion.
Richard Amos is an author from England who is constantly lost in the worlds he writes about, and the ones in the queue yet to be written. He also has more books in his house than anything else, and is never without a book (and chocolate) in his hands when he's not writing. He’s a proud nerd who loves to dance. Hard.
Richard writes M/M Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, and Paranormal Romance, all with tons of kick-ass action, adventure, twisty plots, and yummy times.
A twist?! I love it!! The series continues, but we're getting the brother this time! It is the Sun's time in the spotlight, and that is exactly what we're getting! Isaac moves the story forward as he works to embrace his role as "the Sun" in the sacred witches. These withces are needed, desperately, but the world? So not ready for them. Well tough cookies boys and girls because it's happening! LOL! I love this author's work and this installment does not fail to disappoint. This author keeps us on the edge of our seat as Isaac longs for Ollie, but what's this?! An ex-boyfriend stepping into back into his life! We sense trouble ahead and we are not disappointed!! If you love paranormal MM romance then you're not going to want to miss this series. Remember, this is not a standalone novel. It is part of a series, and it's best if you've read them all in order so that you know exactly what is going on! Cue the chaos! You're going to love it!
Solar Shadows is the third book in the Celestial Magic series. This series is best read in order. This is the story of Ollie and Isaac. We get more of the information about the characters. I loved the twists and intrigue in this book. I know the Aurora brothers still have a lot more to get through. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series. received a free review copy
This is the 3d installemtn of the Celestial Magic series, and it's not a standalone. You have ro start from book 1, and you honestly should. It's an absolutely gripping series. This author usually writes action-packed urban fantasies, but I got a feeling that this one is even more packed than usual. And it has an interesting structure. Whereas normaly each book of a series is focused on one couple or the entire series is, this book's structure is like a snowball. There are 2 books devoted to each coulpe's journey, but the overall plot is so intertwined that the "previous" couple is there and in an active way when the next couple comes into light. I actually enjoyed that a lot. I loved the couple from the first 2 books: Riley and Drake, and now it's Isaac's and Ollie's time, but we get to see Riley and his soulmate a lot, too. So in this installment, the whole plot gets more and more convoluted (but in a good way). It seems the more power the Aurora brothers obtain, the more powerful their enemies get, as well. We can feel that the climax is not far away, but we're not there yet. In this book, the team has additional issues due to Isaac's "main" job. He is a world-renowned super model, and can't just quit. So he has to take the risks and leave the safety of the Aurora mansion... and face the consequences. A lot. This book is also "the book of exes". Both Isaac and Ollie have to face their past, and it ain't pretty. There's an interesting twist here, too. I like that, among all the adventures and magic fights, the author still touched on how our past trauma influnce us later, how abusive realtionships taint our ability to see that not all people are 'our bastard exes', and it's possible to have a loving and caring partner who will have your back... always. I should warn you that the book ends in a cliff hanger, but it's expected. And I'm intrigued because it looks like the 3d brother is getting closer and closer, and it looks like we'll meet him in the next book. Still book 4 will focus on Isaac and his paramour, and I'm happy about it as their relationship hasn't developed enough in this book yet, so I'm waiting. Highly recommend this book for urban fantasy fans. If you've read the first 2 books, this one is really good too. If you haven't, start with book 1, get to know the fantastical city of Coldharbour and it's magic, and get hooked.
This is the third book of the Celestial Magic series, and the first book for the Sun, Isaac Aurora. He'll get his two (books 3&4), and then youngest brother, Preston should get two. The Moon, Riley, and his mate Drake (books 1&2) have a slightly more than supporting role in this book, but this is all Isaac and Ollie. Or more specifically, Isaac pining over Ollie Unlike his librarian brother, Isaac is a bit better known. He's a world famous supermodel, one who can't disappear into the Aurora mansion without the world throwing a fuss. The world isn't ready for another power trio of witches, either. This puts him in quite a bit of danger, which includes a sketchy ex. After book one, I made the mistake of thinking this was Amos-lite. The darkness is there, getting worse, as the triplet's enemies seem to be growing in power. But so are Riley and Isaac. There's lots of twists and turns with plot arcs being tossed in seemingly at random. I don't believe for a minute that this is Amos' plan all along. Keep us guessing, keeping the tension on edge. I'm enjoying the search for power, their brother, Isaac's mate. It's a quick paced series, and I can't wait for what comes next. I received an advanced copy of this ebook from the author and this is my review.
Solar Shadows by Richard Amos is book three in the Celestial Magic Series. After reading the first two books in the series I was eager to get my eyes on this one. I will say that these books aren’t standalones and must be read in order. This book now shifts focus to Isaac and Ollie which I loved because I wanted to learn so much more about them including their backstories. I enjoyed Isaac trying to find balance between life and his powers, it made him feel relatable. Also the tension that is growing is some top notch writing. While also learning why Ollie had such strong feelings against/for Isaac was eye opening… I really liked getting to know them better. I have to say the twists and turns that are woven throughout this book was really well done and have to be my favorite element to this book. I thought it was very well written with me anxious while eager for more. I also like that the darkness element is ramping up with each book. I'm eager for more not only from this series but more from the author in general. Highly recommend giving this series a go if you enjoy diving into a fantasy magical world. Two thumbs up!
Solar Shadows is a Richard Amos instant classic First of all, let me state that I love Richard Amos's canon of work. There are few writers who can paint high fantasy worlds and characters like he does. This book is easily among the best that I've ever read. Isaac and Ollie are two guys fighting demons and histories that tear their souls and leave them hungry for true love and justice. They've both good on the justice part down - but a bit more problematic on figuring out that they can ever be together. This theme is explored and feted throughout the story. There's an Elf sea hag witch who is evolving wonderfully as a very complex character. Is she friend, or foe? Jury's still out on this question. There's also a character who makes it quite easy to despise government bureaucrats. I read it in one sitting - I literally couldn't put it down, and quite frankly was shattered when the tale came to and end. For now. Read it - get to know Ollie and Isaac and delve deeper into the realm of the city of Coldharbour. You'll cherish the opportunity to do so.
I’m enjoying this series following around three different brothers, learning about themselves, their powers and their connections to each other. In this book it’s Isaac’s time to shine, and he is an absolute cutie. His struggle to balance his old and new life is fascinating, and it doesn’t exactly help him to see exes enter the scène.
For me the characters of Isaac and Ollie show us how important it is to look to the core of people: their hearts and their souls matter more than their looks and what they show to the world. They aren’t perfect, nobody is, but they show their inner goodness through their acts. The world they’re living in is paranormal, but with a lot of connection to the one we’re currently living in. And in this third book in the series it’s clear the adversaries in the world just keep on coming.
It’s clear there is a lot more to come in this series, and I’m excited to see what this will mean for Isaac, Ollie and all the other characters in the next book.
I’m loving this series, and how it switches perspectives to tell all the brothers’ stories. I enjoyed the insight into Isaac and Ollie as the action cranks up another notch. As with all this author’s books, the world building is wonderfully detailed, and the characters have their own quirks. An added bonus is the appearance of Coldharbour favourites Jake and Dean earlier in their timeline.
I liked the conflict between both Isaac and Ollie in that they want each other but are trying very hard not to. I particularly loved learning more about Isaac given his background, and how much his life has changed by recent revelations. His adoptive family suck! And his ex-, even more so.
I loved how the story is unfolding with the growing threat, and the brothers learning to work with their powers, and together. I’m looking forward to finding out more about Preston, and hopefully Stefan getting what he deserves.
Coldharbour beckons once more, but this time it's older Aurora brother Isaac - The Sun - in the spotlight. His push/pull, ‘not exactly enemies-to-lovers, but it's close’ relationship with Ollie, newly minted witchcop and son of the head of their household.
Reading in order is a must for this series to get the overall context of the threat the brothers are up against and how they hit into the Coldharbour universe, but this installment is full of twists, turns and reveals. There's also some introspection, looking beneath the surface in others, and not to mention the ex-boyfriend troubles that come knocking just when things are looking chaotic enough.
Solar Shadows is part witchy action and adventure, part family drama, part sweet slow burn romance; but it's all excitement, and I'm already on the edge of my seat for Ollie and Isaac's return in book four.
An ARC was provided by the author. This is my honest review.
‘He pulled off his shirt. I gasped at the sight of his big chest, eyes locked onto the fine whorls of dark hair. My hands lifted, trembling, longing to touch, to explore. He took my chin, lifting my head. “Do you want this?” “Y-yes,” I breathed. “Do you?” He leaned in to kiss his yes. Whoa.’
Richard Amos’ Celestial Magic series in book 3 Solar Shadows, when Isaac, The Sun, is the featured brother.
Amidst the chaos endangering Coldharbour, the emotional danger of the growing, yet hidden, attraction between Issac and Ollie finds readers yearning for them to take the chance to bond.
This is a wonderfully complex romance that spans a time of intersections, each causing outcomes that are unexpected and dangerous, yet holding the potential for something unimaginable!
I loved reading Solar Shadows it is the 3rd book in the Celestial Magic series. It is packed with action, heated romance and a little bit of an intriguing mystery of a missing family member. While reading Solar Shadows I was pulled in and cheered for the good guys (The Aurora Brothers and their friends) as they magically battled against evil. The MMC Isaac I found to be endearing to those that he cares for. I wanted to give him a big hug when he felt sad and heartbroken. The other MMC Ollie is quite the protector as well. when he finally realized who he wanted to be with it was like pure happiness and enjoyment. So if you enjoy Handsome Romantic Men, Heated Romance, Magical battles then you will enjoy Solar Shadows but I highly recommend reading books 1 and 2 first.
We are back to the Aurora sacred family. This time we get to delve into The Sun and Isaac’s story did not disappoint. While I adore Riley, I was really looking forward to getting into Isaac. From the pampered model to the sacred witch. I really enjoyed the continued world building as they continue to fight for their lives against outside enemies. And I have to say the brotherly support and love that Isaac and Riley had already built has been beautifully written and great to see. And Ollie had my heart from his first chapter. I loved getting to see his backstory and what made him so standoffish with Isaac. I’m looking forward to more with the two of them.
This is book 3 in this series and you must read the first two to understand the characters and overlaying arc. This one features Ollie and Isaac. OMG. I am loving this. Isaac is trying to figure out why Ollie is so cold to,him. As we read more we get to find out why Ollie was the way he was. We do see the fae woman more who likes to hint at stuff and of course not explaining more. As the story continues , we find Isaac’s ex-boyfriend who is part of the story. There is great action, chemistry and world building. They are in a quest to find Preston, their youngest brother. I cannot wait for the next book to be released so we can find out what happens next.
Richard gives us the wonderful next installment of the Celestial Magic series! The story this time revolves around Isaac and Ollie and their not quite enemies to lovers slow burn relationship. With new enemies and dangers, ex-partners drama and possibly new friends they try to survive and thrive. See how they get from there to their cliffhanger by diving into this beautifully written story with complex characters and plot twists that keep you guessing and glued to your screen and turning pages throughout. I loved reading this story and highly recommend the series, and you definitely need to read them in order to get everything! Don't miss out on this book!!
This reader has to strongly recommend reading the first two books of Solar Shadows to comprehend this third book in this series. It has all the elements of a page turning read. Isaac and Ollie are two men trying to understand their mutual attraction but lack the ability to tell each other about their intimate feelings for the other. A wonderful read of plot twists turns as the ending continues to search for Preston, the third Aurora brother with glimpses of betrayal to incite continued reading.
This is the third book in the series (gentle note that it’s a good idea to start with previous books, if you haven’t already, for familiarity with overarching narratives and recurring characters). There’s an immersive blend of intrigue, world building, and plot and character development here, and Ollie and Isaac are both deeply interesting characters. The story deserves to be experienced on its own terms, so I’ll keep details vague, but tl;dr: well worth a read. *I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Family is everything in this exciting series. Isaac's part of this journey doesn't disappoint! All kinds of family ties are looked at in this book. Lost family, newfound family, chosen family...come one come all 😉. Danger, suspense, intrigue, lost family, twists and turns, SECRETS, diabolical paranormal baddies galore ....what else could you want? I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next in this series, and hoping for a reunion between all the brothers. Loving these characters and the world they reside in. It's far from boring 😉.
This is the third book in the Celestial Magic series and should be read after the first two. While Riley and Drake are still included in the story, book 3 focuses on Isaac and Ollie. I loved getting to see more of Isaac and his backstory. Isaac is a famous model and must put himself at risk to leave the safety of the mansion while also trying to balance his life as a model and his growing powers. We follow Isaac and Ollie as they work together to overcome their past, all while growing closer. This book does end in a bit of a cliffhanger, but I’m excited to see where Richard will take us!
In this latest instalment of the Celestial Magic series we get to know more about Isaac, the former supermodel and, according to Ollie's thought, superficial and egotistical waste of time! But, as they are thrown together against the common enemy, he see's another side to him and they grow closer. I enjoyed the twists of the newest enemy, in this book, and am intrigued to find out how Isaac can combat him, and what the brothers need to do to find Preston.
Yay! So glad Isaac and Ollie get their turn! Loved getting to see why Ollie seems so antagonistic about Isaac. Also some exes for both of them come back in the picture, and it gives so much depth and understanding to them both. There was plenty of action, plenty of sweet, and a little bit of steam in this book. I really enjoyed how I never know what is going to happen, and I get really intrigued to see what is next! Such a good read!
Solar Shadows dives into another brother of the family. Although, being the 3rd book, it follows the model, public darling of the brothers and his own love life and drama. Fast paced and still filled with all the danger, threats, and quirks that Richard Amos is known to bring in his series. The Celestial Magic books are no exceptions. I am looking forward to reading more of the Celestial magic family's stories. If you are on the fence about this series, don't hesitate; buy!
Offt, the pace of the action in this series is a whirlwind!
Ollie and Isaac are giving some major backstory with trauma and ex's. When the world around them turns dark and gloomy they finally reach for each other. The Aurora brothers still have many obstacles to overcome and I can't wait to see what happens next!
I like that each book is about a different brother. Isaac just captures you with his personality and wants. Ollie is on his mind and he just can't help to think there is more to him. I love a world that has magic and evil that must be beat. The world created captured me from the first book. The characters show growth and progress. Couldn’t put down.
Issac gets to shine in this book. Not that he isn’t used to it given his old life was also in the spotlight. But we get to see more of his past. We also get to see both he and Ollie deal with their pasts and the trauma the past left them with. I can’t wait to see their relationship deepen in their next book.
Book 3 in the series and still going strong. One of the reasons I enjoy books by Richard Amos is these slow buildup throughout a series. Thus one is no exception and continues with Isaac and Ollie, switching perspectives off and on to get their own takes one matters. The push and pull between them and the fun usual banter.
Overall, it’s a good book with solid world building and fun characters.
Who else got chills at the end of this one? I think this is my favorite in this world so far! I love Isaac! The twists and turns plus some bread crumbs for the overall big bad really hits for me as I absolutely love piecing things and making speculations. Fans of Shadowhunters, especially the dynamic between Magnus and Alec, will love Isaac and Ollie!
This is Book 3 in the series and they should be read in order. Isaac & Ollie's story is the bulk of this book. Like the previous it is fast paced and filled with plenty of action, suspense and twists. I love the world the Author has created for the series and the writing allows the reader to get to know each character on a deeper level. Looking forward to Book 4
Third book in the series. This is not a stand alone so start with book one. This is Issac and Ollies story. If you love MM and paranormal romance then this series is for you. Issac has some choices to make. He can try and get Ollie or he can take his ex back. He also has to decide if he’s going to accept his destiny. I don’t have a favorite brother yet maybe when they end I will have one.
Solar Shadows is Isaac & Ollie's story and not Riley & Drake's from the first 2 books. We get to know more about the main couple, and more about the others too. I did find it intriguing and look forward to the next book in the series.
*warning* You need to read the first 2 books to understand what is happening in the story.
Solar Shadows is the third book in the Celestial Magic series. First we met Riley and Drake. We watched their story in books 1 and 2. In this book we watch Isaac and Ollie. Isaac is a famous model and cannot hide away in the mansion. He has to learn to balance his modeling career and his powers. We watch as they work through their past and grow closer.
