Hand of Revenge #3

King of Obsession

Rate this book
Rhett
Being a rockstar has been the dream since the first time I picked up a guitar. The fame, the lights, the rush of playing sold-out concerts. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted.

But reaching that dream means keeping my past buried. To pull it off, I need someone to play along. Someone the world will believe. Lucky for me, I already know the perfect girl.

Unlucky for me? She wants nothing to do with me.

So now I have to do what I do best—charm her until she wants me as much as I want her.

It’s only for six weeks. What could possibly go wrong?

Saylor
Rhett Cole was my first kiss. My first heartbreak. The boy I couldn’t forget, no matter how hard I tried. When he walked away twelve years ago, I learned the hard way that fairy tales don’t come true for girls like me.

Now he’s back, more famous than ever, asking me for the impossible. Be his fake girlfriend for six weeks? Spend hours stuck on a tour bus with him? Share his bed?

Oh—and offering enough money to cover my bills for the next year.

It sounds simple. But nothing about Rhett Cole has ever been simple.

I’ve heard his promises before. And if I let him get close again, I know exactly how this ends.

But the more I push him away, the harder it gets to remember what’s fake… and what’s dangerously real.

Jessica Jude writes emotionally-charged kissing (among other things) books about royals and the elite. Her aim in all of her stories is to make you fall in love with the characters and use up box after box of tissues. Her characters are strong and independent, who make plenty of morally gray decisions. She likes her women fierce and her men possessive.

Her favorite scenes to write are arguments. She's been known to stir up drama in her own life when she gets bored, and her family is glad she has an outlet for her occasional Blair-Waldorfism. She lives in a big old house in the midwestern United States with her high-school sweetheart. She has dreamed of being an author since she was six and wrote her first book about a girl named Mary who got lost in the woods. Mary was eventually found, but sadly, the book was never published. Jessica is a homebody who loves to travel, a coffee candle junkie who doesn't drink coffee, and a very-loud-at-home introvert.

ARC Review. Thank you Jessica Jude for the opportunity to read another instalment in the Hand of Revenge Series.

So I just got quite the fright when I finished this book because I realised I had devoured it in less than 24hrs and I didn’t even notice. King of Obsession sucked me all the way in before rudely spitting me out on another typical Jess cliffhanger that has me excited for book 4 while simultaneously crying as I know it will be awhile. The joys of ARC reading!

While I absolutely loved the revenge plots of book 1 and 2 and missed the whole gang, it was nice to have a break from them and have King of Obsession wholly focus on Rhett. As a character, Rhett has generally floated around in the background more than the others. The grit and the glam of a music tour was the perfect opportunity for us to get to know the sweet heart that is Rhett Cole, along side a fake dating relationship with Saylor Jones and a healthy dose of scandal. Because is it even a book about Rhett if there isn’t a scandal.

Hold on to your panties and maybe your heart, the King is here and I challenge you to resist his serenade 😉

Thank you to Jessica Jude for the ARC!

📆 Release Date: November 4, 2025

⁀➴ Overall: This was a super fun, rockstar romance! I loved the second chance vibes, the character growth, and all the shenanigans!

⋆⟢ Tropes + Vibes:
🤍 forced proximity
🎸 shenanigans 🤭
❤️ fake dating
🤍 second chance
🎸 bad boy x good girl
❤️ only one bed
🤍 friends to lovers

🖤 cw: addiction

⁀➴ Bookish Breakdown:
⋆⟢ Plot: Rockstar Rhett Cole is getting ready to go on tour for his new album. He’s excited to get started on his US tour, but is concerned that he might be peer pressured to engage in activities that he doesn’t want to engage in anymore. Enter: Saylor Jones, his long-lost camp crush. Saylor is an empath who wants to do right by people who are working on their recovery. After much insistence and persistence, Rhett finally convinces Saylor to come along with him on the tour as his (fake) girlfriend. Cue the music!

⋆⟢ Characters:
Saylor is a stubborn, independent, and sassy empath. She cares deeply and is always putting others before herself. She’s helpful and giving to a fault (just ask her mum). She has always had a crush on Rhett, ever since summer camp, and is really hoping that she can keep her feelings at bay. (We all know she simply cannot resist, though! 🤭) While I liked Saylor overall, there were many moments where she was so stubborn that I had a hard time connecting to her.

Rhett is an arrogant, prettyboy, rockstar, who has his sights set on wooing our girl, Saylor. He simply loves a shenanigan. Rhett is recovering from an addiction, and spent his time in rehab writing songs to help with his overall healing. I thought Rhett’s character was very believable, well-written, and easy to empathize with. I appreciated his character growth in reading about both his childhood and his adult life. I loved how much he wanted Saylor. Watching him fall hard was amazing.

⋆⟢ Writing Style:
I thought the writing was excellent! I felt like the pacing was very good, and kept me engaged throughout. The dual POV is a favorite of mine, because even when the characters are struggling with one another, I feel like I can still relate to or care for them while they are going or growing through something. Also, the spice was very well done!

⋆⟢ Wrap up:
There are a couple of tropes in this story that aren’t my favorite, and I did struggle a bit to press through those parts of the story. At no point was the story bad, it just wasn’t my absolute favorite because of those tropes/scenarios.

I am incredibly hyped for the next book in the series! I was so excited to see how Jude wrapped up this book in the series. This series is so good and with every additional book, I love the characters even more!

Thank you Jessica Jude once again for the ARC! I feel so fortunate to have ARC read the Hand of Revenge series.

The plot points of this book were not bad. There was more spice than the previous books, but I think it was placed well in the story points.

I think my main problem was I really didn’t love Rhett and Saylor. Saylor had this “poor me, I ruin everything” complex the ENTIRE book, which got old quick, and Rhett made a lot of… interesting decisions with no reasoning explained. I wish the two of them would have talked more, instead of being in their heads so much.

I also wish the friend group was in this one more! I know it’s hard because it takes place on tour in a different country, but Rhett texted them once and they were only seen at the beginning and end. I’m sure in the next book they’ll be seen a LOT more, but I missed them and also learning where the past two couples were at in their lives.

I cannot wait for the next book, I think it’s going to be the best one yet!! But overall, this book falls in last place in the series, with Ace of Betrayal (3.5) and Queen of Vengeance (4.5) being above it.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of King Of Obsession, which is book #3 of the Hand of Revenge series! While I didn’t read the first two books of the series, I still very much enjoyed Saylor and Rhett’s story!
This book can be enjoyed as a standalone, though, the couple of chapters that involved their friend group dynamic, makes me want to pick up the other two books, and start from the beginning!

This book picks up with Rhett Cole, a known bad boy rockstar, who embarks on his first ever tour after a period of time in rehab.
One day, to his surprise, he bumps into Saylor Jones, the girl he met as a teenager, when they went to the same summer camp. A lot of time has passed, but,
Rhett convinces her to join him on tour, to help keep him sober… The catch? She has to pretend to be his girlfriend so his label doesn’t suspect anything.

“I look at her, and the rest of the world goes black- just fades into nothing like a background vocal trailing off.”

Individually, Saylor Jones was very relatable in the way that she was just trying to get by in everyday life. The struggle of wanting to do something meaningful with your life, and it not panning out to support you financially, is something most, if not all, of us can relate to. She was also very reserved when it came to her love life. She was afraid of commitment,
Which is why Rhett Cole was the perfect fit for her. He was able to provide not only financial stability for her to do why she loved, but also offered her emotional stability, and proves to her how much he loves her along the way!

“If someone can’t handle your love, they’re not meant to hold it.”

I do wish the author explored Rhett’s struggle with addiction a bit more. It was the entire premise of the book, and it often felt overlooked.
Nonetheless, the way Saylor served as his rock through the book was heartwarming! She helped him believe in himself, and gave him the confidence that he needed. The way he worships her is everythinggggg! I love a second chance romance, because it adds to much angst to a story. Saylor was the one that got away all of those years ago. He had to make it right!

“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I would be a fucking fool if I let you get away from me again.”

ARC Review - Thank you for this early copy Jessica Jude!
Release date: 11/04/2025

5🌟 3.5🌶

Mrs. Jude!!! you have done it again!!! Fantastic! pace was great, and the detail was perfect. *Chefs Kiss* on the spice! Saylor's character and her story, I love love love! of course the fake dating always ends up in a HEA, but the take on this was perfect. Rhett admitting that he has had a thing for Saylor since they were kids was sweet. As for Saylor fighting falling for Rhett and keeping the ruse up, girl did her best. Her reaching out to get his dad to come to a show was probably the sweetest and the moment I knew she was head over heels for him. Ending was spot on to continue the world of Hand of Revenge. Pierce and Maeve..... please tell me that is the next book! But what will it be? Jack of ____..... possibilities are brewing lol

[ ARC REVIEW ] King of Obsession by Jessica Jude

🗓️ Release Date: 11.4.2025

I have arc read all 3 books so far in this series and can confidently report that this one is the best one yet! The banter from the very beginning had me giggling and kicking my feet. If you’re in the mood for rockstar/fake girlfriend/forced proximity/social media girl/girl to keep him straight THIS is for you!

If you’ve read this one and can’t seem to move on…Walk the Line by Paula Dombrowiak has the EXACT SAME vibes. I was getting parallels and flashbacks so often.

I went into this with an open mind, Its not my usual type of read. But Jessicas marketing caught my eye and I decided to give it a shot and I'm so glad I did!
I found myself cackling so much through this from the very beginning. Sondra was a damned queen and kinda sorta totally want more of her. I toyed between wanting to hug Saylor and throttle her. Truthfully its because saw parts of myself in her. She wanted love, to be loved and isn't that what most people truly want?
From the second I met Rhett I adored him, he's what like to refer to as a golden shepherd; He’s fun, goofy and playful. He loves hard but is very protective as well and thats my absolute favourite.
Watching the way that Saylor and Rhetts relationship developed was so good, the way they fell so thoroughly for each other and how right they were together. Saylor didnt accept or buy his bullshit and Rhett didn't let her feel unloved. He noticed things, he cared for her in a way I don't think anyone ever had for her and it made ME fall harder for him.

Receiving this ARC was a privilege and I’m so happy I was lucky enough to do so!

Overall,I really enjoyed this story and cant wait to read the rest of the Hand of Revenge series.

King of Obsession by Jessica Jude

4.5 stars

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book and I loved it - I knew I would because I loved Ace of Betrayal and Queen of Vengeance, the first two books in the Hand of Revenge series which focuses on a group of friends and their stories and relationships.

This book picks up Rhett’s story, a rock star embarking on a tour after a stint in rehab. Saylor is someone he met as a teenager at summer camp, so when their paths cross again as adults, he convinces her to join him on tour to help him stay clean - she just has to pretend to be his girlfriend the whole time.

The book follows their relationship, fake dating turning into real love, with some big challenges along the way. It also include a one bed, a bit of touch her and die and a whole lot of crossed wires and heartbreak.

I won’t spoil the ending, I’ll just say it’ll be ok - as it is in all the books in this series 😉

You don’t need to have read the previous two books to enjoy this one, it totally stands on its own, but I think having read them it helped me understand and connect with Rhett much more quickly and deeply - and that meant I couldn’t put this book down!

My only minor issue with it was not enough time with the friends group, we only really got them at the end, but that did not take away from the rest of the book in any way.

I’m ready for book 4 now - will that be Maeve’s story? Or Pierce’s? Or both?!

My favourite quote:
“If someone can't handle your love, they're not meant to hold it."

“King of Obsession” - Hand of Revenge Book 3 by @jessicajudebooks is my favorite in the series! ❤️‍🔥 and it’s available now on KU!

A spicy rockstar romance where Rhett needs his first love Saylor to be his fake girlfriend for six weeks, sharing his tour bus and bed while old As you can imagine… the original fakeness of the relationship turns into something real. Rhett is down BAD. And the yearning 😮‍💨 one thing Jessica can do is write some characters! The character growth here is beautiful. Highly recommend!

Thank you for the ARC opportunity 🫶🏻

I am so thankful to Jessica Jude and her team to be chosen to be an ARC reader for this book. My honest review is WOW, omggg I am OBSESSED with Rhett Cole. I understand why is this called King of Obsession, because I’ve never been more obsessed with Rhett. This was my first rockstar romance and I was not disappointed. Jessica is the queen of leaving us on a cliff hanger and I cannot wait to see what the next book entails with this competition!

[3.5⭐️]

i recieved an earc if this book, so decided to read books 1 & 2 before jumping into this one and i’m very glad i did because it made me more used to the way jessica jude writes as an author. i have to say i love how these books read, they’re very fast paced and filled with so much that it makes you not want to put the books down. i will say though that the two main characters in this book wasn’t my favourite at times. i came to find them both to be quite irritating with their attitudes towards certain things. overall i just wish as a pair they would communicate better. that being said though, i do love how much they were their for one another. i will say that this is my first rockstar romance i’ve read (i believe?) and i thoroughly enjoyed that aspect of this book, as well as it having a lot of my favourite tropes. i did like seeing everyone back together towards the ending as obviously saylor and rhett were away from everyone else on the road so we didn’t really get to see much of the friend group in this book. overall i like this book, and i will definitely be continuing with this series whenever the next book is out.

Thank you Jessica Jude for the ARC opportunity!
(this is my first time reading any of her books)

this started off promising but i almost dnf’d this a few times towards the end. Saylor is insufferable and Rhett is actually a bad person.
rhett’s struggles with addiction was barely mentioned except in the beginning and end. which is fine but like….its like it wasn’t even part of the plot… same with rhett’s friends so he goes on tour…talks to his friends once….all this shit goes down and then at the end they work in a crime syndicate????? and saylor is just…….cool with it?????? there were too may plot points happening that there really was no plot. i REALLY was enjoying it until maybe 40% in and then it dropped from a 4 to a 2 (being generous)
i am glad other people enjoyed it but it wasn’t for me 😔

I had the chance to read the ARC copy of this book, and I can say it’s easily been one of my favorite reads of this year. Once I was able to sit down and read genuinely I binged the last two hundred pages easily! The progression of Saylor and Rhett’s relationship felt really well done, and pulled their character growth together towards the end. And I have a special appreciation for the spicy chapters being warned at the start in the author’s note as a no-spice reader myself. I will say, picking up this book with no knowledge of the previous books, is definitely not recommended, but I enjoyed KOB so much that I will be going back to check out the other books in the series! Highly recommend!!

✨️ ARC Review ✨️

First and foremost, thank you Jessica Jude for letting me catch a sneak peak into what attention grabbing read you have for your readers.

I love a good second chance childhood friends to lovers trope. I also love the reflections of the pop culture that we all can relate to throughout from the Daisy Jones & the Six to the tiktok references.

The characters were so easy to relate and fall in love with. I especially love the sarcastic banter, the badassness of Saylor but also the parts of life that are a bit not so cute like marriages that fail or Rhett battling that inner dialogue that he's not good enough or the lack of support from a parental figure and the everlasting triggers that is overcoming an addiction.

I especially love the “Love doesn’t push people away—it invites them to stay. If someone can’t handle your love, they’re not meant to hold it.”

gahhhh sooooo freaking true. brings such an emotional reality that is sooo realistic for so many.

Ahh I loved the angst and the yearning, this book is dual POV which makes it even better. I loved both main characters, but I have fallen in love with the mmc Rhett, I feel the book was the right amount of pages and was so bingeable! I loved the spicy scenes they were done just right and had me like 🥵🥵🥵🥵

I read another ARC and I will tell you all about it again. I think I picked this one up on Threads and I applied for a copy, which I obviously got approved for. I was excited for the famous vs non-famous trope in this book, and it definitely delivered on that point.

King of Obsession is an interconnected novel in the 'Hand of Revenge' series. I haven't read the other books in the series, so one of the points I did evaluate on was how well this book could stand on its own. After reading it I got to say I believe it holds up well by itself. There was no point where I wondered what was going on, or the fact that I was missing any information, so good job to Jessica Jude for that.

This story revolves around Rhett and Saylor, whose point of views we get to read. Saylor is in a rough patch in life: she gets laid off from her job, she has a husband to divorce and an agonizing toothache at the beginning of this story. On her way out of her now ex-job, she runs into Rhett Cole, a newly-signed rockstar and her old summer camp crush. Will Saylor get het life on rails and reconnect with Rhett, who has plans of his own.

So how about Saylor? I really liked her as a character. She has a strong will and personality. Although I got to admit she was a bit delulu to say so in modern slang. Rhett was so obviously in love with her and I cannot fathom how she could have missed it. One of my favorite quotes from the book was from her: ‘I’m falling in love with a very bad idea.’

Rhett definitely had his faults. He could be brash, a little quick to jump the gun and top notch delusional. Apart from all of this, I did like him as a MMC. He did have his possessive moments, which leads to a lot of miscommunication. Or, what I liked less about this book, the no communication between Rhett and Saylor. A lot of the problems would have been solved if he just manned up and talked to Saylor like an adult instead of assuming. I guess it's part of his personality, but sometimes it did bug me. I did have compassion for Rhett, because his label was super mean to him for things that weren't really his fault in the end.

Conclusion: despite the third act breakup, I did enjoy reading this book. The characters live in their delusion a bit and have to work to get over themselves more often than not, making it a layered romance story.

I cannot end this review without thanking Jessica Jude for the eARC. I am honored that I could read for you and I hope King of Obsession does well upon release! Of course this review was left willingly and all opinions are entirely my own.

Thank you Jessica for the advanced copy of King of Obsession 🎸🖤 I was lucky enough to be a part if her ARC team for the previous book, Queen of Vengeance, and in Rhett's words, I may die if I'm not chosen for the remaining book(s) - though I may riot since my trust in her is thin atm (I'm hanging on a thread Jess, throw me a bite 😭)

genre: rockstar romance 🎸🖤
rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
spice: 🌶️🌶️

📖abt this book:
*Second chances (and third)
*Forced proximity - Band tour - One Bed
*Former addict
*Fake girlfriend
*Summer Camp Sweethearts
*Friends to Lovers
*Gossip Girl meets Daisy Jones & the Six

Rhett and Saylor's story may not have been the five star read that Lux & Slate's (Queen of Vengeance) was, but I finished this book in a day because I was still obsessed. From the mention of their cute summer camp romance to them surprising each other several times, and even the last third if the book when I wanted to str@ngle both of them and hug them at the same time, I could not get enough. Though I was Rhett acted less like a fvxkboy and Saylor could manage her finances better, I still love them both and hope we see glimpses of them during the remainder of the series (Jess pls put me put of my pain and tell me if there's one or two more of these books.)

There were a few things about King of Obsession that didn't make it as much as a 5 🌟 as Queen of Vengeance. Mainly that I felt like his addiction and her near sexual ass@ult were overlooked and his sexual libidio could have been lessened just a tad. That's the main things but I also didn't like how Saylor continuously blamed Rhett. I get why she did, don't get me wrong, but I think that there were things she did wrong that she didn't seem to think how harmful it could be (her abandoning him because of her jealousy, her not explaining the divorce to Rhett, etc.). Don't even get me started on her money issues 😅

AND THAT ENDING ?!? I swear to mf god if the next book isn't Maeve AND Pierce's story, I will riot.

If you like rockstar romances, second chances, forced proximity, miscommunication (glares at both of them), then this one is for you. I DO recommend reading the first two of the series, Ace of Betrayal and Queen of Vengeance. Although this couulddd be read alone, QoV has more of Rhett's history prevalent to his need for Saylor, and AoB is the beginning where we meet most of the characters.

FIVE FREAKING STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨ I have received an ARC copy of this book and I’m sooo grateful I didn’t have to wait until November. Thank you Jessica for giving me this opportunity ✨

If your tik tok is also full of yungblud fan edits (like mine may or may not be 🤷🏻‍♀️) this book is soo for you. Rhett gives all the Dom vibes.

It’s been waaayyy too long since a book has kept me up HOURS past my bedtime but there’s no way I was going to bed with Rhett’s heart broken. I can’t believe this was my first book by Jessica as she’s easily one of my favorite authors now and I hope her other work is as good as this one.

I love a good miscommunication/misunderstanding trope and this one is *chefs kiss*💋 so beautifully written and I finished it in only 6 hours.

This is the 3rd book but I read it as a stand alone and I will be going back and reading the other two books asap. I was not lost or confused not reading the first two books but I think I would’ve loved more background on some of the more interesting side characters and I’m hoping I will find that in the first two books or the ones after this (please tell me there’s more 🙏🏻)

From the minute the book started, I knew I was going to love Saylor and the chemistry with her and Rhett is there from the start and only grows more intense throughout the book. The tension and passion is always there. I also couldn’t get over the relationship between Rhett and his friends. We all need friends like that.

Saylor is so relatable not somehow having hundreds of thousands of dollars. She’s an average person with tons of wants and needs and is willing to work for everything she wants and needs and lucky for us she wants Rhett even if she didn’t know it. 🤫🍀

🛏️ one bed on the tour bus 😉
🤭 Fake dating

I love the writing style and the banter had me kicking my feet and giggling way too late into the night 😂

The spicy chapters are listed in the beginning if you’d rather leave the door closed. I gave the spice two peppers since I’m usually a dark romance girly but, honey, it is there 🌶️

The cliffhanger?? I was warned about the cliffhanger before starting this book, but I was not ready.

And yes, all men take that long in the bathroom. IYKYK

You know that one book that somehow feels like chaos and comfort at the same time? Yeah, King of Obsession is that.

So, the story starts with Saylor — she’s married, but honestly? It’s one of those marriages where love has slipped through the cracks. You can feel it in her loneliness, her exhaustion, her “what am I even doing anymore” vibe. She’s broke, stuck, and kind of existing instead of living.

And then there’s Rhett — freshly out of rehab, trying to piece his life back together. The guy’s got talent, no doubt, but also a shadow that keeps following him — being the son of a legendary singer. Everyone expects him to be his dad, but all he wants is to be Rhett Cole, the musician, not someone’s son.

When the songs he wrote in rehab goes viral, he finally gets a deal — but there’s a catch (of course there is). One album. One contract and rules: Stay clean. Stay out of scandal. Cue his friend suggesting a fake girlfriend — and that’s when fate laughs, because guess who walks back into his life?

Yep. Saylor. The girl he had a summer fling with 10–11 years ago. The one he never called back.

From there, it’s fake dating meets unresolved tension meets what the hell are these feelings. Their first kiss, their first crush, their first love — all of it resurfaces the moment they see each other again. Saylor wants nothing to do with him (and fair, he ghosted her), but she’s desperate for money — so she agrees. What starts as a deal turns into chemistry so intense it almost burns the pages.

This book screams tension. The sexual tension? Off the charts. The emotional one? Even worse.
And Rhett — oh my god, Rhett — I genuinely think he had one of the best character arcs here. You see him owning up to his past, fighting his addiction, being real. I loved how open he became — how honest Saylor made him. That vulnerability was everything.

Saylor, though — I liked her, but I wish we got a bit more of her growth. She’s dealing with a broken marriage, with heartbreak, with Rhett. But I wanted to see her heal, not just exist between pain and him.

The misunderstanding trope popped up, but surprisingly? It didn’t ruin it. Usually, I hate that trope. But here, it made sense. It felt like something two hurt people would actually do.

If I had to describe this book in one sentence: it’s messy love, healing through chaos, and rediscovering yourself in someone who once broke you.

✨ Fake dating. Rockstar romance. Addiction recovery. Honesty. Lust. Love. Second chances.

Would I recommend it? Hell yes — if you like your romances intense, a little dramatic, and full of “I don't deserve you but I still want you” moments.

ARC Review

3.5⭐️

I would like to start this review by saying this was my first book by Jessica Jude and I haven't read the previous books in this series.
I loved this book right up to the 75% percent mark, it was a really enjoyable and fun read for me. I think I devoured it in like 2 days which really shows how much I was enjoying it.
I liked the relationship between Saylor and Rhett and seeing the whole tour dynamic. I wish the author would've explored Rhett's struggle with addiction a bit more, for being a big plot point in the book it actually felt a bit overlooked except for one scene in the beginning and another in the end.
I didn't really like how the conflict at the end was handled but that might just be my hate for the miscommunication trope and also Saylor was starting to annoy me with her "oh no I destroy everything I love, I'm going to be alone forever" thing. Besides that, I did actually like Saylor and how much she always stood up for herself.
Rhett was a big golden retriever puppy hiding behind a bad boy persona and I loved how much he worshipped Saylor from the beginning.
I also enjoyed the dynamics between Rhett's friend group and am really curious about some of the other characters and their stories.
In the end, I enjoyed the author's writing and will probably read more of her books in the future, especially the other books in this series.

✨ARC Review✨
Jessica Jude does it again with the third book in the Hand of Revenge series! This book is a standalone and the other two books don’t need to be read for context. I feel like this one is a stand-standalone because the revenge plotting almost feels like an afterthought to tie all the books together. But I’m okay with it because I was so obsessed with Saylor and Rhett 😍

“He…rests his forehead against mine, sending a message loud and clear to the groupies I can tell watching us. I’m taken.”

Someone please help me because I am legit melting! This angsty teen romance turned adult fireball romance was just the plot I needed from the Hand of Revenge series.

Rhett, a hottie turned rockstar, runs into a girl from his past that he left hanging far too long ago.
Saylor, a headstrong freshly unemployed woman, literally falls into the past while racing away from what will soon become her ‘old life’ 🤪

After lots of convincing Saylor mails off her divorce papers and joins Rhett on his first rock tour. Throughout the tour, their bond grows so strong (and so spicy) but ends up crashing and burning VERY publicly. But Rhett maintains his persistent pursuit to make Saylor his girl 💕 this book showed how love really can conquer all and how a first kiss can become your last kiss 😘💋

King of Obsession by Jessica Jude follows Saylor and Rhett, a complicated couple bound by history and heartbreak. Ten years ago, Rhett shattered Saylor’s heart, and now he’s completely head over heels while she wants nothing to do with him. It’s a second-chance, rockstar romance that’s easy to fall into and hard to put down.

I finished this book in one sitting: read all afternoon, took a quick break for dinner, and then came right back to it. The writing is fast-paced, the chemistry is electric, and Rhett is an absolute sweetheart. Saylor’s guarded strength makes for a great balance between them.

There’s a line that really stuck with me: “I want you to give us a chance, a real chance. Being your first kiss isn’t enough. I want to be your last too.” It perfectly captures how soft and sincere Rhett is beneath all the chaos of fame and regret.

If you’re looking for a romance that’s easy to read, emotionally satisfying, and doesn’t require heavy plotting or mental gymnastics, this one’s a perfect pick. It’s the kind of story you can just tumble into and enjoy.

I wouldn’t say it’s one that’ll linger on my mind for weeks, but it was a genuinely fun, feel-good read—the perfect one-sitting escape. I give it 4,5 stars! Thank you Jessica for sending me this book as an ARC. I loved this series!

Jessica Jude does it again!

I am loving this series more and more as it goes on. Rhett needed some real love and attention and he got it in this book. He had a troubled past dealing with addictions but ultimately overcoming them. He recognized his weakness and the likelihood of struggling with it when he went on tour so he sought someone out to help him stay away from his addictions. Enter Saylor...his long lost summer camp crush who he ghosted years ago. She is in the perfect situation to desperately need some money and although she was loathed to fill his need (due to the fact she knew she would end up falling for his charm) she didn't see another way out of her financial troubles. In order to keep his past addiction and sobriety a secret she was to pose as his social media manager and girlfriend. Well, we know how that kind of story goes...

Secrets and betrayal...lust and love...it all culminated in an excellent next step in the series to these two finding their own happily ever after. This was a good standalone too if you want to read it but not have to go back and start at the beginning. It had a much different feel than the other two before it and I have to say I liked this one the best (so far). Now to try and wait patiently for the next installment!
