Who knew falling in love with a human required a manual?
Proud fox-shifter Tala has never been one for reading self-help books. Her interest in a guide to understanding humans is strictly professional. She’s only trying to be an effective leader for the human agents working under her in the Federal Bureau of Shape-Shifter Investigation. It’s not like she’s nervous about moving in with her human girlfriend, Faith.
But as she flips through the pages, she realizes that humans have rules—like not leaving food stashes around the house (it’s a fox thing, okay?) and keeping the thermostat set to something other than “Arctic winter morning.”
Is it possible she needs a little help from the book after all?
Find out in this playful, heart-warming short story sequel to Jae’s sapphic paranormal romance novels Enemies by Nature and Shifting Nature.
Jae is the author of twenty-seven award-winning romances between women. She lives in the sunniest city of Germany, near the French and Swiss borders. The writing bug bit her at the age of eleven.
She used to work as a psychologist but gave up her day job in 2013 to become a full-time writer and a part-time editor. As far as she’s concerned, it’s the best job in the world.
When she’s not writing, she is an avid reader of sapphic books, indulges her ice cream and office supply addictions, and watches way too many crime shows.
A cute very short story following Tala and Faith's story. I think one must read the previous 2 books first to be able to get some of the references in this. It's an interesting perspective looking at humans and our habits and preferences.
Ok, this was super cute. I went in without having read the previous books in the series, and I didn't have trouble falling in love with Tala, Faith, and their relationship. I feel like the author did a good job of bringing up to speed the folks who don't know the world or the characters.
I adored the "Humans for Dummies" passages - some of them had me cackling! (The one about spicy food being "not too bad" I had to send to a friend immediately.)
It's cute, hilarious, and short. Definitely recommend!
This little spin off from Tala and Faith's two books is so cute and sweet and lovely in all the right ways. I could happily exist in a world where they do! I will insta-buy all future books in this universe!
