Or can they?

This is a good ending to the series. A little slow but heartwarming in the right places a touch bittersweet where it needed to be. One of the reasons I could not give this book 5 stars is that I think there is a lot more potential for this series and all the characters than has been shown here, so I am doubly sad it finishes.
Luna and Duncan have the medallions and the artefact. However how much of their feelings and future has been mapped out for them by the manipulations of magic and family? Old grudges will be settled, and final confrontations.
Part of me wants to give this book five stars simply because I liked all these characters so much and will miss them, but the book was a bit too slow and not quite the final battle I was expecting. All in all a good ending, I just wanted it to be great. Maybe there is more to come?
I liked a lot about this book. I liked the chemistry, the banter, the wrap up, and the majority of the story. I liked just about everything except for the forced pregnancy thing.
Multiple times Luna states that having another kid would ruin her life, it was not something she wanted to do, she even stated that it would be hell. And then towards the end of the book, she's forced to have unprotected sex by some chunky, costume jewelry medallion and manipulated into the pregnancy and she's just okay with it? I'm just not buying that. As somebody with two kids, myself and firmerly against having a third, I couldn't tell you the type of freakout I would have if I found it I was pregnant again, especially at 40, after making a firm decision not to.
I don't believe that she'd be okay with the manipulation, let alone being forced to conceive. Maybe if it was something that they had talked about at length and both came to the conclusion and agreement that Duncan was absolutely wanting to be a dad and Luna was willing to give it another go with a third child then I could maybe swallow that pill a little better but because it's not something that had been discussed and they were tiptoeing around it and never really came to an agreement, especially since Luna was still firmly in the "no" category, It just leaves a bitter, gross taste in my mouth.
Other than that I thought it to was a good conclusion to the story.
I loved this entire series. This was the final book and I'm sad it's over. I loved the banter, and Duncan might be one of my favorite characters this author has created. I liked that while there were 6 books in this series it didn't go with the whole cliffhanger that made you want to read the next book to know what happened, but instead you wanted to read the next book because it was so much fun. Not that lindsay Buroker ever goes that route, but so many fantasy books these days are. Urban fantasy with Middle aged werewolfs who become allies, then friends then more. It's nice to have middle aged characters that are still interesting. I can't wait to see what Lindsay Buroker comes up with for her next series.
I really liked the way it wrapped everything up! Only regret is that it's now over. Maybe there will be a follow-up series where we can get some cameos from some of these characters to see how the future goes. Quick, but satisfying read. Recommend it!
I have enjoyed the whole series ! I found it amusing, creative And interesting. I did have to subtract 1 star for Sex scenes. I have enough knowledge of life That I find them unnecessary. I like how she ended it However I'm hoping she'll start another series Based on The adventures of raising The boy And their child along with Future pack adventures. And not forget The druids.
I can always immerse myself into Lindsay's book. Sometimes I have trouble settling down into a book. Not Lindsay's. It like going home. I'm immediately comfortable and know I'm going to enjoy it. I don't know the exact number I've read but all under the author name Lindsay and many under her author name Ruby.
Luna and Duncan will be hard to leave behind. It was an excellent story and I loved the characters. However, I know the next series will be just as immersion and enjoyable.
I liked the other books in the series better than this one. I liked the series, and I like most of Lindsey Buroker’s books. I enjoy how the characters interact with each other and the banter that goes back and forth between Luna and Duncan makes me smile. I like the fact that it is lighthearted and upbeat. Up until this book it was pretty PG rated, which I appreciate. This book just pulls the whole series down, IMO. There are pornographic sex scenes, that I find completely unnecessary. I do not need to know the details of what is inserted into Luna’s body. That level of intimacy is pornography. Spoiler: Luna is described as a powerful Alpha wolf. But she shows nothing but meekness. Luna is afraid to talk to her children. She is afraid to hug them. She let’s her ex push her around to keep her children from knowing that he is an ass. She doesn’t tell her boys that her ex stole their collage fund. She allows them to believe that she was at fault for them not being able to go to college. Luna allows her mother to coerce her, with a magic medallion, into unprotected sex which leaves her pregnant. A pregnancy that was unwanted through out the 5 other books. And she is OK with that. She goes out of her way to avoid any kind of conflict, even if it means degrading herself. She takes a priceless artifact that will control the destiny of the entire pack and puts it in her purse and takes it into the woods where she confronts a group of people. What did she think was going to happen to her purse if she shifted into a wolf? Was she really that stupid to think a wolf could carry a purse? She returned an artifact that had a reward attached to it, then refused to take the reward, even though she desperately needed money. She did this because she was worried about what it would look like since the artifact owner’s sister got kidnapped near her apartment. Luna made the kidnapping her fault, even though the woman/wolf kidnapped was there to kill her. She is scared about where she is going to live, even though she just inherited her mother’s house and the huge amount of land that goes with it. She talks about her apartment being too small for her and Duncan, and the baby on the way. The apartment that she and her husband and 2 kids lived in for 20 years. If a character is powerful and strong and smart, show that in their actions instead of saying it then having the character show weakness and stupidity.
I liked the series and the other 5 books. I just feel like this book lacked the originality of the other books.
I stuck with the series because of the banter but honestly...There was no reason for it to be so long.
There was so much added the books that wasn't necessary. The developers who wanted her pack lands? Her ex husband coming back into the picture with the developers? The motorcycle thugs and the group of paranormals they were harassing? Her dead lover's cousin seeking revenge? Maybe if she had just focused on one of these it would have made for a fun sub-plot. After the stuff with her cousin was sorted the gang made zero sense to continue and was just used as another blip Abrams was using to harass her and Duncan that was resolved easily.
Her pack hated her for walking away after killing her lover, but now that the cousins that were attacking her are gone and have been gone for a while everyone is totally fine with her and Duncan coming in as the future alphas. She never even spent any time bonding with anyone other than Jasmine. This story could have been better if it was shorter or at least swapped out some of the unneccessary "conflict" for more pack dynamics and bonding. Heck, she barely even saw either of her kids in the entire six books other than a couple of pages.
Also, I had a major issue with the whole underlying plot point of her and Duncan "breeding". Her mom was pushing it, then the medallions used their magic to force them to have unprotected sex and continue the line when she is 45 with two grown kids and specifically stated she never wanted another kid. Why was adopting Lykos not going to be enough for the storyline?
I am trying to get through this book, I really am. I stuck with the series as I found some of the characters pleasing and the set up of the first and second books suggested the story was going somewhere. 107 pages into the finale, this is not the case. In fact, so far this book seems to have been made from discarded bits of the former books. They just endlessly circle the same ground- literally. Another encounter in the apartment parking lot. Another seemingly pointless trip to the wolves in the woods. Same inexplicable appreciation of Luna from Duncan in spite of the fact that all she ever does is worry and act like a milktoast while the books and her mother hints she is a powerful, transcendent werewolf. Where? She is a were-bunny at best. Anxious, self doubtful, clinging to a poor lifestyle going above and beyond (but only in her apartment manager job) for peanuts. Every chance to forward this dubious romance gets interrupted. There is literally no growth or change in venue, attitude or action. I dont think I can keep going. The constant reiterations from previous books are deeply unneccessary... it's the same book! Just continue with on, no repetitive reminders. They will get the gist ad nauseum, I promise.
This one overstayed it's usefulness to the story, really. I'm glad it's done and dusted.
I liked the first few because of Duncan and the banter. I liked Bolin too.
But Luna was so emotionally detached from everything. Her mother, her children, Duncan, and Lykos. She had no sense of urgency during dangerous events. Her niece is shot and she only goes so far as to notice it, but isn't phased by anything. She was empty. Her son shows up at the end, and then disappears like he was never there. I'm still not sure why they were ever part of this series. The entire series she only thinks about herself and her wants.
Her snarky replies stopped hitting the mark books ago, and instead of funny, she just came across as bitter.
This ending was really anticlimactic. But I did like Bolin's growth and I still liked Duncan. But I haven't been emotionally invested since book 2. I just wanted to see how it ends. I had originally picked up another series by this author, but I'm thinking I'll not bother with it after this.
I do love Lindsay Buroker’s writing. The books are entertaining, easy reading, have action, humour, suspense, surprises, mystery and romance. A bit of everything. They never fail to please. Luna is still hoping for things to work out with her apartment and Duncan but life keeps interfering. The apartment block is still up for sale, Lycos, the young clone of Duncan is hanging around trying to figure out how to kill Duncan, her mother is still pushing for her to mate and have werewolf kids. But Bolin is coming into his druid powers and is getting along with Jasmine. When Luna’s ex, Chad, shows up still trying to et he artifact he left behind and pushing a real estate deal to take over the pack’s lands, things get interesting. This book has to solve the problem of the realtors, stop Abrams and Chad. An easy, quick, fun read. There’s not a lot to say without giving things away but this is definitely another series by this author that is worth reading.
Yet another story by Buroker full of great characters and tons of snark. I really was saddened to come to the end of this series, more so than some of the others, and I hope sometime in the future we can return to catch up with this cast of characters. The inclusion of someone getting a job marketing tiny homes perked my interest...who do we know that constructs tiny homes in the area? Love to see some future cross-overs.
I don't read Lindsay's books for the romance - although it's certainly there. I don't read them for the fantasy - of course that's there. I read them for the interaction between characters and the life - the snark - she endears them with, and few do it as well as she does. And the addition of locales I know well as a native of the area is just frosting on the cake...
Lindsay Buroker is such a good writer. I just finished another series of hers magnetic magic books, one through six and once again I was transported. Lindsay knows how to build a story and build world and build relationships like nobody’s business. She’s an amazing writer. Her writing is warm, exciting, adventurous, sensual. I’m so sorry when a series ends. But now, I have another one of her series waiting in the wings. Thank goodness. Thank you, Lindsay for writing such pleasurable, enthralling books.
I'll have to admit that the first half of the book felt like a time warp. Most of what had happened in the previous 5 books just kept happening. Fights in the parking lot, strange mists to knock you out, metallic bugs, Luna and Duncan dancing around each other. Finally, a bit of conclusion with some of that, but a little anti-climactic. There were a few satisfying scenes - Luna's left hook was one, tearing off bumpers another. Some bittersweet scenes with family. Overall, it wrapped up most of what was hanging out there. No big fight scenes and no big surprises.
Luna and Duncan have finally reached the critical stage of their relationship. The mad scientist Abrams is really mad and still sending Lykos sp? to kill Duncan and Luna’s mother is weakening. If the apartment complex is bought, Luna will lose everything she put into the complex. Then Chad comes back trying to steel artifacts. I really did love the tender moment with Cameron, nothing like getting a bird’s eye view of Chad in person. I love a Lindsay Buroker book!
A sweet conclusion to the series. Izzy stayed annoying but I liked Ivan. Duncan is adorable and finally (finally) someone else comes around with his charm. No clue if Bolin moves on but guessing so although hard to say. A nice wrap up about the apartment building, but much left unresolved. Do they lead the pack? Does she need the apartmetn now that she inherited land to live on really? Ah well who knows. And resolution of a sort with her sons but having them there through series felt out of place and awkward like author wasn't sure what to do with them half the time.
I love Lindsay Buroker books, I've read an awful lot of them, this series started off pretty slow but I could tell it had potential, because the characters were fully formed and easy to like from the get go, and who doesn't want to discover ancient treasure, love the magnet fishing, and I do own my own metal detector, and I am proud to be called a detectorist x
This, and all the other series that Ms. Buroker has written, pulls you in and never lets go. It is very easy to be wrapped up in the story, and of the characters. I know this is the last in the series, but I for one, would enjoy a novella detailing Lykos' journey in becoming a family member, and uncle to Lunas pups. Really it's an excuse for more of the "wolfie" saga. A triumph of a series, yet again. Well done, I thoroughly recommend it!
Sigh we have now come to the end of Luna and Duncan's journey and I am so sad. I love Luna and how practical she is and Duncan is just so sweet even when he is 8 feet tall and furry.
This tied everything up neatly in an explosive finale. There were tears, laughter and worry as Luna and Duncan continue to try and protect everyone while battling their foes. Thank you Lindsay for once again creating a magical urban fantasy world for us.
This series is well worth the read. This final book really ties the whole story together. The characters are all really well fleshed out, with both young and older characters rather than a book full of perfect teens. The humour keeps the sometimes dark occurrences from seeming too much and the slow burn romance delights. I highly recommend.
Always such an entertaining story and always sad to see them end! Loved Luna and Duncan was such a wonderful combination of best leading men but still uniquely Duncan. Dialogue snapped, Bolin a real gem I really enjoyed his love of words and their origins, such fun. Can’t wait till next series or a new addition to older favorites! PS I know an apartment property manager and really sympathized with Luna.
I’m ready for Book 7. Give me Uncle Lycos! Give me Luna and Duncan’s baby! I’ve got to know how the pack adjusts to their new Alphas. I need to see another romantic hunt and have the pack fuse as a loving unit that embraces Lycos and helps him become a good person with appropriate social skills. I want Jasmine and Bolín to get hitched too. So many story threads that need continuation! Bring it on!!
I fell in love with Luna, Duncan, Lykos & Bolin. Watching them struggle to overcome challenges and demonstrate integrity and compassion along with learning how to bloom fully developing joy and play. Spirituality becomes involved and, of course, alchemists, druids, and werewolves, learning the give and take of community growth as a result of exciting developments in plot.
Lindsey Barker did a good job wrapping up this series in this final book! All of the books in the series were whimsical and enjoyable reads. It was fantastical and goofy at times – but an engaging diversion from reality. Lindsay’s character development and world building were engaging and possessed just the right amount of exciting, without being overly dramatic or vulgar.
I received the book early since I’m a Patreon backer.
I just devoured this final book the way Luna would a bar of chocolate. I will admit that many of the plot threads got resolved the way I suspected they might, but that didn’t diminish the enjoyment for me one bit. I wouldn’t mind a future series from Jasmine’s POV. Maybe she could meet her cousins?
I loved this series of yours. It kept me intrigued And I was holding my breath on different parts It was awesome. I do think you waited too long for Duncan and Luna to get together. I really like the way the banter went back and forth from Duncan to Luna. It just made him feel like they were a couple from the beginning. The snarkiness was awesome. I loved it
I've enjoyed this series very much. The characters are well-developed, and the story is complex enough to keep my interest. The one issueI had in this book was a reference to North America as not being civilized prior to colonization, which - yikes.
This is a great series by this author all the characters are fantastic the story line is so so good you can't put it down.I wish there were a dozen more books it is so awesome If you're looking for a good easy read pick up this series you will love it love love love it Hope you enjoy it as much as I did I can't wait for more books😊😊😊
What I love about Lindsay is that she always creates these incredibly complex, yet quirky characters with very dry wit. I love the banter and verbal exchanges that take place and can often visualize them while I read and smile to myself.
Extremely well written, the plot twists abound and storyline is fast-paced. Great series!
