Jason Aaron grew up in a small town in Alabama. His cousin, Gustav Hasford, who wrote the semi-autobiographical novel The Short-Timers, on which the feature film Full Metal Jacket was based, was a large influence on Aaron. Aaron decided he wanted to write comics as a child, and though his father was skeptical when Aaron informed him of this aspiration, his mother took Aaron to drug stores, where he would purchase books from spinner racks, some of which he still owns today.

Aaron's career in comics began in 2001 when he won a Marvel Comics talent search contest with an eight-page Wolverine back-up story script. The story, which was published in Wolverine #175 (June 2002), gave him the opportunity to pitch subsequent ideas to editors.

In 2006, Aaron made a blind submission to DC/Vertigo, who published his first major work, the Vietnam War story The Other Side which was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Miniseries, and which Aaron regards as the "second time" he broke into the industry.

Following this, Vertigo asked him to pitch other ideas, which led to the series Scalped, a creator-owned series set on the fictional Prairie Rose Indian Reservation and published by DC/Vertigo.

In 2007, Aaron wrote Ripclaw: Pilot Season for Top Cow Productions. Later that year, Marvel editor Axel Alonso, who was impressed by The Other Side and Scalped, hired Aaron to write issues of Wolverine, Black Panther and eventually, an extended run on Ghost Rider that began in April 2008. His continued work on Black Panther also included a tie-in to the company-wide crossover storyline along with a "Secret Invasion" with David Lapham in 2009.

In January 2008, he signed an exclusive contract with Marvel, though it would not affect his work on Scalped. Later that July, he wrote the Penguin issue of The Joker's Asylum.

After a 4-issue stint on Wolverine in 2007, Aaron returned to the character with the ongoing series Wolverine: Weapon X, launched to coincide with the feature film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Aaron commented, "With Wolverine: Weapon X we'll be trying to mix things up like that from arc to arc, so the first arc is a typical sort of black ops story but the second arc will jump right into the middle of a completely different genre," In 2010, the series was relaunched once again as simply Wolverine. He followed this with his current run on Thor: God of Thunder.

Absolute Superman is still really damn good. This time, watching Superman get taken by surprise and hurt might be the first legitimate time we see him truly injured on Earth. It's a bit scary, but the ending builds anticipation for more world-building. Bloody and fun, Absolute Superman is still FIRE!

I thought this was great fun! But got me worried about my guy! All said — fun start to a new arc. Big setups, emotional beats, and that classic Superman heart. Really enjoying this run

Superman: “You should’ve stayed the hell away from Kansas!”

YES!! OMG WHAT A WAY TO KICK OFF THE NEW STORYLINE! This rocks!! Immediately we get thrown into the action in the board room of Ra’s Al Ghul! Seems that the omega men decided to send a few assassins after him, but as he “mustn’t keep the investors waiting,” he decided to jump onto a call with them to go over quarterly reports and allow them to hear him kill the omega assassins. The I intro to Ra’s coming out of a pit was impressive enough, but this just took his character to a whole new level. During the fight he ends up throwing one of the assassins into a Lazarus pit, which he then proceeded to turn it on full blast and transform them back into a baby! Wow this world’s Lazarus pit is powerful! Ra’s also expresses that at one point he was called the demon’s head…but like Lazarus he was reborn and may now be called the God’s head, and he believes with his power he will save the planet from the “billion of leeches” who would bleed it dry. He now serves the league of shareholders, lol, and to him Lazarus means salvation, sacrifice, hope, and dropping the baby omega assassin from his skyscraper balcony. WOW, this is brutal. Additionally I love seeing the metropolis skyline only to see Lazarus towering over it…all while the daily planet is stuck in the trenches of the city overtaken by everything else. Such a perfect detail.

Back in Kansas Kal-El attempted to visit Martha and tell her about his travels and all the places that reminded him of Smallville…but the degeneration taking her mind has caused memory loss and she doesn’t even recognize him, prompting him to quickly leave. Walking the empty streets of Smallville, Kal is approached by two people…Jimmy Olson of the Omega men, and Lois Lane of Lazarus. Lois swears she is not there as an agent and just like Jimmy she only wants to help him. As you can imagine by now, Kal is not a very trusting person and flies away as the two of them start arguing with each other about who they stand with. Lois yells out, unsure if Kal can even hear her…she has seen all the reports of people mysteriously being saved in the town and knows why he comes back…this was the home he was supposed to have and she understands that Lazarus took that away from him. Now all he can do is drift around looking for a home to belong to, looking for someone to trust…and she believes that may be her.

Jimmy then begins to make his own points, brings up how much Lazarus has bought and resold the town so that its own people are making less working for Lazarus on their own lands, and that’s exactly who Lane serves. The entire argument comes to a head when Lois claims she won’t be lectured by some terrorist in a stupid mask, and Jimmy immediately claps back because his mask is cool and she knows it! LOL. Finally Superman comes down and surrounds them in his cape, he is here because of peacemaker smith…he came here in the hopes of stopping himself from killing him…but just then a shot rang out! And Superman collapsed and looked down as a green mist came from a hole in his chest. He has just been shot by a Kryptonite bullet…and from the last issue that means Smith is nearby. Suddenly a whole squad of peacemakers fly in and start repelling down towards our group. Immediately instead of working together Jimmy and Lois aim their guns at each other, but Lois is the first to put hers down. They may be from opposite sides of the spectrum, but what they can agree on is Superman. They cannot let this miracle die, so they need to help each other to get him out.

As they try their best to get Superman away in his wounded state…super augmented cyborg peacemaker smith enters the battlefield. He wants Superman for himself, and it turns out he can track the Kryptonite bullet! Inside one of the shops, Sol works hard to locate and rip out the bullet analyzing it and figuring out what it is in disbelief along the way. Right as he gets the bullet out…peacemaker smith rips down the walls and throws Superman through the building. It’s immediately on sight with Smith, and Superman doesn’t have enough strength to fight back. At the same time Sol is informing Kal of the bullets Kryptonian origins.

Suddenly the fight comes to a phase when Lois steps in the middle and orders them to arrest smith…but her orders have been overturned. At the same time the rest of the town shows up with their own guns to surround the group, they don’t stand a chance but the idea of them fighting against Lazarus like this is quite heart warming. Smith looks like he is ready to kill more civilians, but that’s when one of his own reminds him they are under strict orders to bring Superman in alive. Before Smith can snap that peacemakers neck…Superman wakes back up and punches Smith down! Sol has completely surrounded Superman in spiky badass armor and it looks glorious! The entire battlefield is also flooded with the ash from his cape, and as tornado mode is initiated everyone is thrown around. But Superman continues to hold back and Smith can feel it, and that’s exactly what gives him the opening he needs to riddle Superman with more Kryptonite bullets! But smith may have inadvertently told Superman exactly what he needed to know. As he was gunning superman down he mentioned God’s secret name that brainiac told him: Ra’s Al Ghul. And the knowledge that has been imparted on him from it…to save the world all they have to do is murder a bunch of people. But right before Smith can put a bullet in Superman’s head…his suit lights up and shocks him into submission. Brainiac is always watching and he was told to bring Superman in alive. With Smith down, this gives Lois and Jimmy the chance to regroup with Superman. He needs to get out of there fast, and he is now finally putting his trust in Jimmy and the omega men to do it. Jimmy more than happily obliges and contacts the rest of the omega men for a boom. THEY OPENED A BOOM TUBE TO GET SUPERMAN AND JIMMY! WHERE DID THEY GET THAT?! That’s new god tech, huh…what…where?! In this universe?! Now you’ll notice I mentioned Jimmy and Superman…not Lois. They left Lois behind with the rest of the peacemakers and Lazarus. I’m sure she will be fine…or at least I hope so. I’m more excited that the next issue is called the secrets of the omega men. I’m so curious as to where they got that tech from.

Yeah... was a bit disapointed with Ra's.
Expectation: the immortal criminal mastermind.
Reality: cartoonish villain that kill babies, literally.
I'm starting to understand were this is going, the full DC Absolute Universe.
Sups gonna be the main road for that.
Which is good. This Sups is a pain in the ass and probably would be stomped by Batman.
Without prep-time.
Dislike the whole kryptonite trope, dislike the 'evil corporation/religion' trope.
Hoping that the Omega men is more interesting, coz I'm getting really pissed off with this subpar Sups

I did not appreciate how Jimmy and Louis were painted as to equal sides in this struggle. One is fighting against essential state sponsored destruction of humanity while the other is acting as the will of the state and enforcing it well. Yes, she’s seeing more flaws in the system but she very much embodies and to frame the two as equally valid and suggesting that they need to compromise, the ideas not the two people but what they represent, is very dumb imo. Yes louis and jimmy need to put aside their differences in that moment to save Kal but this isn’t an enlightened centralist moment.

I still dig this version of Supes, but I'm liking this storyline less than the initial story. But I kind of wonder if Ra's comment about not having a son...yet isn't foreshadowing a plot toward Superman's clone. If so, then it makes sense that Lex wouldn't be the one in charge bc it wouldn't be much of a reimagining. I'm wondering if Lex is involved with the Omega group. Will see.

This ratchets between quiet moments and loud - Kal dropping off shells from each of the five oceans to Superman entering “tornado mode” in his suit. I’m looking forward to the Jimmy Olsen/Lois Lane dynamic developing more, too.

Glad to see the trio trying to work together here. Was really hoping Lane would leave with the Omega boys, or whatever they are called. Peacemaker is also insane.

Are the omega men gonna be the rest of the kryptonians? Surely not with how easily Ra’s took them out.
