Lindon U #5

Need You to Choose Me

Rate this book
When my big brother warned me away from his archnemesis, I was positive he was overreacting about the hockey player’s reputation.

And when he told me not to get involved with Lindon U’s top left wing, I accepted his one demand like a challenge.

Because despite Sebastian’s warnings, I was obsessed with Alexander O’Conner.

He was talented, hot, and undoubtedly going pro.

But when I found myself in the middle of the war between my brother and my crush, I couldn’t figure out which side to pick.

Because the truth was, I loved my brother. But after months of hooking up with his enemy, I realized I was in love with Alex too…

Olive & Alex 🩷
Olive and Alex have been in a situationship when he abruptly reminds there are no feelings. He then is drafted into the NHL and they go there separate ways. Alex is dealing with a lot of pressure with being on a new team and his mom's mental health. Olive was his calm and he finds himself regretting his decisions. Olive works on moving on and protecting her heart. This story deals with a lot of sensitive topics with mental health and weight. I loved how confident Olive was. It was refreshing to see her not berate herself. Thank you B. Celeste for writing a size 18 heroine that new her worth even when others questioned it.

“𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲…𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝘆…”

So. Many. Tears. So many tears were shed reading this book. I thought I was prepared…I thought I was rest for the ending of this series and for Alex and Olives story but I was so wrong. I was not ready. I was not prepared and I have not recovered. It took me a few days to get through this book because it emotionally was tearing me up…which I LOVE…but is also the reason I have a hidden grey streak in my hair at 29 🙃 this is the 5th and FINAL book in the Lindon U series…and you do not have to read the others to understand this one…but we do get introduced to this couple in one of the earlier books.

Olive and Alex are in a forbidden situationship. No strings. No feelings. Just fun. Perfect for two busy college students…especially when the guy you’re sleeping with is your brothers arch nemesis. Things are going great, until they aren’t. Olive admits to Alex that she’s developed feelings for him even though the plan was NO FEELINGS…Alex isn’t sure what to do and started to pull away. Alex is graduating college and getting ready to enter the NHL, so he decides it’s better to break things off especially with her revealing her feelings for him…Olive is heartbroken and shuts down all communication with him.

My heart broke for Olive. She’s such a strong and confident girl. She’s plus size but has learned how to love herself and say f it to those people who mock her…she’s living life for her and on her terms. Which is why seeing how heartbroken she was over Alex broke me. She went out on a limb and shared her heart only to get shut down. But the thing is…Alex is hiding a lot…and there’s more behind their breakup than just her having feelings because he has them too.

A year later, Alex is in the NHL and back home for a visit and a mission…to get his girl back…and he’s very aware that it won’t be easy. Olive is bewildered as to why this man is in her messages and wants to ignore him, but when he’s telling her he needs her, those old feelings come flooding back. Opening the flood gates for secrets revealed, real heart to heart confession and heat that will literally make you sweat.

Both Alex and Olive have a lot of past trauma. Poor Alex…hearing his story and the weight he’s been carting his whole life just makes you want to hug him and never let go. There’s always such pain when kids have to essentially parent their parents…carrying the burden of being a care taker and provider when they are barely understanding how to take care of themselves. There’s a lot of mental health topics and 💀 discussed so please heed your trigger warnings.

We get a lot of found family vibes and I mean A LOT. I love all the side characters and how they all rallied around both Olive and Alex. Sometimes…friends are stronger and better family than your actual family. And that’s exactly what we see here.

Alex and Olive come together and let me tell you…Olive makes this man WORK as she should! I was so proud of her, and HIM! Olive truly knew her worth and wasn’t about to let Alex just walk back in without proving he knew her worth too. He did the work and got the girl and I was crying tears of joy. It was hard road back to each other And there were times where I wasn’t sure if Alex was going to make headway with Olive…especially since there was someone else very interested and very attentive when it came to her. But Alex used that as even more fuel to work harder for her. And it paid off.

The heat between these two was explosive. I was fanning myself. I’m not sure how my kindle didn’t combust…but thankfully we made it through. She’s a trouper.

I think this was the perfect story, the perfect couple to end this series on. There are lots of other characters who definitely deserve some love on page and hopefully B’s next series features them 🧡

Thank you so much to B. Celeste and Greys PR for the incredible opportunity to ARC read this beautify book 🧡

#Review: *Need You To Choose Me* - B. Celeste - ARC [18+]
4.4/5✨
3/5🌶️

After I read ''Teach You to Love Me" by the author, I just needed more written by her. I found out about this ARC from Grey's Promo and I instantly went to fill their form, to be part of the ARC team for this one. Thank you so much for accepting me!

Olive Henderson and Alexander O'Conner had a short, full of passion relationship while they were young. Everything fell apart because of Alex's choices and his life plans. Their feelings were pretty strong even when their paths crossed again, but Olive didn't want to have her heart broken again. But Alex was super determined to do things right this time around and won Olive's heart and trust back and for good. Will they succeed in reconciling their relationship? Will Alex choose right this time around and solve his problems?

Even though there was a small amount of a love triangle in this story, it wasn't something too much and no cheating was involved. Alex's situation was really delicate and I felt so bad for him, for everything he had to go through over the years. As for Olive, she didn't have the best thoughts about herself and her body, having a curvier shape than other girls. She has always felt like she didn't fit in the circles she was part of, considering to be the ugly duck or the different one. Olive had some moments where she acted a bit childish, doing some things without thinking about the consequences. But despise all that, Alex was still so very smitten about her, realizing how foolish he was in the past for choosing wrong.

A story about fighting for the ones you love, about mistakes, hurtful events and second chances. Life is never easy, but it can be a little better if you surround yourself with the right people and decide to take a leap with your heart. Love is a powerful thing, which can slowly heal broken souls.

📚 Book 5 in the Interconnected Standalone Series "Lindon U"
🖤MF
🏒 College Hockey Romance [Just this Book in the series]

I was surprised that this book had as much depth as it did. This was not your average run of the mill College Hockey romance, this one hit on harder topics giving it some real grit. We start the book out with a real bang and get the "3rd act breakup" right at the front. There is no miscommunication trope which was also nice.

Alex and Olive have a lot to work through, but I appreciated that it was a more "adult" like relationship once Alex had graduated. I also really liked Bodhi, but I could see why he wasnt a good fit for Olive, and how Alex was just what she needed.

Do not get me started on Sebastian though, that ENTIRE situation irked me to no end. The hypocrisy!!! Olive should have made him grovel to get back in her good graces imo. Anywho, I am looking forward to reading Berlin's story, and hopefully we get to see more Alex & Olive cause even though there was an epilogue, I still wanted more.

“Sometimes we need someone to be there. Not because we need to be fixed or anything, but because we’re human. We all need support once in a while.”

Oh my goodness 🥹🤌🏼 I loved this so much. A protective big brother and the best friends/teammates get me … but the nemesis?!? 🥵 hockey hookups make me sweat more than a player in the running for the playoffs. Mental health rep and family trauma/drama to keep you on your toes and it’s SOOOO relatable - like it hurts tbh. Second chance romance with always been you vibes. Y’all know what I’ll do for a second chance… found and chosen family do everything they should in this beautiful story too. Choosing between the swoony and the broody - idk how she makes the choice! But also I do bc chapter 25 exists.

Brb while I go to therapy to recover bc today? Today I needed this more than I need water: “We don’t like the idea of losing family. But sometimes we need to prioritize peace above anything else.” And I am not okay 👏🏼

Need You to Choose Me is the story of hockey play, Alex and fierce college student, Olive that we originally meet briefly in Beg You to Trust Me (book 2 - DJ & Skylar's story). All I can say is that I thoroughly enjoyed their book. It was full of witty banter, character development and a whole lotta spice. I honestly think that Celeste is just becoming more and more comfortable in writing her steamy scenes because they're just getting better and better. Every. Single. Time. 🌶🌶🌶

Now I've always said that Aiden is my favourite hero of this series. BUT. That was before Alex came along. He's headstrong, stubborn, determined, maybe even a little pig headed at times. He's perfect for Olive though and I loved hearing him grovel to get her back and how sweet he was with her. I also loved reading about his relationship with his mother. He's just... so swoon-worthy 😍

I was rooting for Olive the whole time. This is a girl who knows what she wants. And what she doesn't. And she makes no apologies for it. She's fierce and independent and funny. I loved her confidence and faith in herself. She's the kinda girl you'd want on your team. Pun intended.

You'll meet a whole new cast of characters that I really want more of so fingers crossed, Celeste writes their stories. Including but not limited to Jesse and Belle, Bodhi, Berlin and Moskins.

What a finale to an incredible series! So bittersweet. 😭 I'm sad to let this world go and leave them behind but I'm also super excited for whatever B does next!

*I beta read this beauty and highly recommend it. Can be read as a complete standalone!*

B. Celeste is a pro at making her readers feel – and feel for the characters and share their pain. She does not shy away from the hard stuff and always manages to deal with it in a respectful and relatable way. Whenever I start one of her books, I just know it‘s going to hit me in the feels. And it was the exact same with Need You to Choose Me.

The beginning of Alex and Olive‘s story is heartbreaking, but the fact that they get their second chance makes it worth it.

We can cleary see the character development and how both mature over time.

If there‘s one thing you notice throughout the book, it‘s how much both Alex and Olive care about each other. While it did take losing Olive first, Alex now knows how much she‘s worth and he isn‘t afraid of letting everyone know and see that.

While I wouldn‘t say Alex has direct competition, there‘s Bodhi who further underlines how much Alex actually cares and how far he‘s willing to go for Olive.

Alex and Olive are explosive together in the very best way!

ARC Review : 2.75 stars ✰

so uhm… i wouldn’t say i was disappointed, but i definitely didn’t love this one. olive and alex are a mess like they seriously need to work on themselves before even thinking of getting back together. also, way too much of another (guy) side character in the picture, which made it hard to root for the main couple. and honestly i feel like alex barely groveled. olive forgave him way too easily for my liking. i ended up skimming most of it because i just lost interest. not terrible, just not what i was hoping for.

Thank you to B. Celeste & Grey’s Promotion for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Alex and Olive’s story was such a great read! From the very first chapter I knew this story was going to be a rollercoaster of emotions. I love the second chance aspect of this book. Both characters feel so much for each other and the miscommunication hurts so good in their story. I enjoyed both povs and getting to know both characters more in depth. I love both of them so much. I look up to Olive for so many reasons and her character is one I will never forget.

The chemistry between Alex and Olive is too good. Their scenes are so explosive whether it’s romantically, emotionally, or just any single moment. I love them together and how they complete the parts of each other that feels missing. This author never fails to deliver a good story with great angst!

I thought this book was boring. I would have liked to see more of Olive and Alex sneaking around before their initial fall out. Maybe that is in the earlier books and I shouldn’t have skipped to book 5 🤷🏼‍♀️ It wasn’t bad and B. Cleste’s books are well written I just didn’t care about what was going to happen really the whole time reading this one. Although I did get annoyed by the hockey part that talked about what quarter of the game it was. It’s periods.

One of the best books in the Lindon U series! If you want something spicier from this series, pick this one up as well as the rest of the series so you can know more about the other awesome characters! Olive is in love with Alex and she has never truly stopped. But Alex tells her it will never be like that for him leaving her completely shattered. Olive and Alex move on with their lives the best they can, but they're like magnets drawn to each other. When Alex comes back into Olive's life so they can have their second chance, she wants to hesitate, but she finds herself not only back in his eager arms, but his bed as well. However, there's a deep secret Alex keeps from Olive and it's the reason why he could never fully commit to her before. This time around they will need to full choose each other to get their happily ever after once and for all! I absolutely loved Olive! She is the plus size heroine a lot of us need. She's confident in herself and the things she enjoys. She knows she's a badass hottie with the curvy body and I love that. But I also love how it showed the side of Olive that's not always that confident because it is a reality. Olive has come such a long way you can see how her progress is, but she will still have her moments of feeling not good enough. But I love that she has wonderful people around that full support and stand beside her. This was an awesome way to end this series. I love how it went from football to hockey so you had a mix of sports romance in the series. I really loved how Alex knew how much he fucked up and was proving to Olive how much he wanted her for good this time around. The issues touched on in this book with mental health and bullying were shown in ways that I think will really hit readers in a good way if they also struggle. I felt really seen when Alex was struggling with his mom having bi-polar because my mom does as well and this was really spot on with how that can look! Another amazing story by B. Celeste do not miss this final book! Especially if you love a book with spice because this was the hottest one in the series as well!

One more day and everyone will get to experience the amazing end to this beautiful series! I picked up the Lindon U series when I was just getting back into reading and starting my booksta account, and these characters will always hold a special place in my heart.

Need You to Choose Me is a new adult, small town, hockey romance following Olive and Alex.

Just like with all of these FMCs, Olive is so incredibly relatable. She has her struggles and insecurities that so many of us deal with every day, and I loved watching her learn to ignore those negative voices that try to get the best of her, and just embrace all of who she is unapologetically. I loved seeing her realize she’s allowed to take up space and have big dreams and love Alex out loud, regardless of any public opinion. I really loved her story, and I think so many other readers will too.

I loved how protective Alex is of his loved ones. Everything he does is to make sure they’re taken care of properly, and he never lets anyone speak ill of them. He loves Olive with his whole heart, and would do absolutely anything for her, no questions asked. He has so much pressure on him from both himself and everyone involved in his hockey career, and having to care for his mother. And I loved that Olive is his person, the person he can tell anything to and go to with no judgment, and he knows he never has reason to doubt their trust or their love. Seriously, everyone is going to love reading about this man.

Thank you so much to @authorbceleste and @greyspromo for this beautiful arc!

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to finish screaming about this book because it took 24 hours for me to GOBBLE it up and I haven’t been able to do that in such a long time!!

Miss ma’am B. Celeste, I need to know what you injected into Olive and Alex because this was my first introduction to you and I NEED IT ALL. ALL OF IT FOREVER.

Alex.. Alex Alex Alex Alex. My heart was with you the entire time, like why was I tearing up about your story and figuring out why you kept pushing her away. My heart broke every single time. Your confidence with Olive tho.. those text messages and that gift!!! I was literally screaming. My poor partner ran in to make sure I was okay because my jaw was on the floor hehe.

OLIVE GIRL. OLIVE!!! I needed a girl like Olive because her confidence, her sass.. even in the first few chapters my jaw was on the floor for her. I wish I had the confidence that she does especially being a plus sized girly myself.

Ugh, I don’t think I’m ever getting over this book. Ever. This gave me a rollercoaster of emotions. I giggled, my jaw was on the floor but also my heart was pulled on so many times. The mental health representation in this book was also soo beautifully done. I’m so sad I just figured out this series now that it’s over but I’m gonna go read the rest of them!

A huge thank you to B. Celeste and Grey’s Promo for the ARC! I’m obsessed forever!!

When Olive Henderson was told to stay away from Alexander O’Conner, she didn’t listen. Of course she didn’t—this Coca-Cola-loving, hockey-obsessed, confident plus-size queen does what she wants. And what she wanted? Lindon U’s best left winger. Their secret hookups were the stuff of swoony dreams and stolen moments… until the NHL draft turned it all into heartbreak.

Fast forward, and these two are no longer college kids sneaking kisses in the dark. They’re professionals—on rival teams—with unfinished business that plays out not just on the ice but in every fiery, tension-filled on-air interview and post-game stare-down.

The chemistry? Still electric. The angst? Delicious. The backstory? Heart-wrenching in all the right ways. Watching Olive and Alex navigate fame, regret, family pressure, and second chances had me turning pages like a madwoman.

This is a story about bold women, complicated men, and love that never really fades. I rooted for Olive’s fire and Alex’s redemption every step of the way. Because sometimes, love is worth the risk. And sometimes, the one you walked away from is the only one who can truly make you whole.

I think this may be my new favorite book of the series. This one really got in depth with the mental health aspect and the toll it takes on the person directly involved with them whether it be a child or spouse. I really loved how confident Olive was and was comfortable with herself. I think Alex is misunderstood by those around him because they don’t know what’s going on in his personal life, but Olive never minded that. It was Alex that put the stop to everything that was going on because he didn’t want Olive to feel weighed down by his mom and her issues. It was nice to see them finally have that breakthrough moment and really be with each other. I truly wanted more of this story!

✨ARC Review✨

I gave this 5 ⭐️ and 2 🌶️! Alex and Olive’s story has been building in the previous books, especially Skylar and DJ’s story.

Alex and Olive’s story started out here with the prologue that sets the storyline up with his dismissal of Olive and her feelings. The story builds on their challenges, regrets, and ultimately communication skills to build a relationship better than before. B. Celeste has an uncanny ability to touch on difficult matters such as physical and mental health as well as touchy family dynamics that can be lost in translation. She does a great job outlining not only the mental illnesses in this novel but also the effects that they can have on those closest to us that love us.

Alex and Olive both had to face difficult challenges throughout the book and showed that showing up and be present does wonders for a relationship. The flashbacks were very well written throughout the book and alluded to the status of the characters throughout the book. Overall 5/5 and I am so excited to read more from B. Celeste!

All the feels
Wow! This was a totally wonderful experience that is still in my mind days after finishing. This author is still relatively new to me having only read a couple other of her books, but I’m fast becoming a devoted fan. The characters are believable, realistic and engaging. I was invested in Olive and Alex’s journey from the start. They have interesting backgrounds and family dynamics and some real world issues like bullying and mental health. The characters and their journey really touched my heart, the emotion is raw, gritty at times and made for compelling reading.
With great banter, chemistry, swoons and steam, this hard-fought-for second chance story is one of Ms Celeste’s best and I’m excited to see what she brings out next.

This is Olive and Alex’s story.
Alex and Olive’s protective older brother were teammates at Lindon U, and he ordered her to stay away from the star left wing, but the heart knows what it wants, and they meet secretly. When Alex is drafted to the NHL, Olive is left heartbroken. Now Alex and Olive’s brother are rivals on different teams, and Alex is determined to get Olive back.
This is a well written emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, angst, heartbreak, secrets, challenges, rivalry, regrets, second chances, humor, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable, small-town romance, which tugs at the heartstrings throughout.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I received an ARC and this is my review.

This one surprised me in the best way, it’s tender, messy, a little spicy, and full of that “oh no, I actually caught feelings” energy.

Olive is everything I want in a heroine—curvy, confident, vulnerable, and quick with a comeback. Alex? The broody hockey star who’s emotionally constipated until the right woman cracks him open. And oh, does Olive crack him wide open.

Their banter is A+, the tension is simmering, and the emotional stakes are real. There’s family drama, found family, secret hookups turned something more, and the kind of vulnerability that sneaks up on you. I wouldn’t call it a classic second-chance romance, but it gives those same emotional beats—hurt, healing, choosing each other over and over again.

And, you know I'm here for a plus-size heroine get to be desired, loved, and the center of someone’s world without it being a whole “thing". Yes, please.

If you love a confident curvy heroine, a secretly soft hockey boy, and a love story that feels earned and intimate, this one’s for you.

Tropes:

Hate-to-love (he’s her brother’s rival)

Secret–turned–real hookup

Sports hero

Plus‑size, confident heroine

Opposites attract / found family

Professional athlete romance

My first read by B. Celeste took me on an emotional roller coaster. Alex and Olive are a force to be reckoned with. Starting strong from chapter 1, it was telling how emotional this would be.
They met while both were in college and Alex was a teammate of Olive’s hockey playing brother. But the way things ended left Olive in complete heartbreak.
Now he’s gone on to play in the NHL while Olive is still in school and a complete U-turn as we dive into Alex’s feelings and come to find out he regrets leaving her the way he did.
Oh but this ride is emotional. I love a good redemption story. And Alex’s story gives you so much depth to this character and understanding of why he is how he is.
Olive is a plus sized woman who has embraced her curves and doesn’t let that get in her way but she too has obstacles and trust issues after how Alex hurt her
Their chemistry is crazy good. Alex does so well at hiding all he is tackling. I thought I wasn’t going to like him but I really ended up loving him so hard!
Great book for a second chance story!

I really enjoyed this book! The romance was emotional and slow-burn in all the right ways. Alex and Olive had great chemistry, and their story felt real and heartfelt.

What made this book special for me was Olive—I related to her so much. Her insecurities, strength, and the way she loves fiercely hit close to home. They way she handles her insecurities and yet doesn’t let anybodies comments have her change how she is. Is something I related to in a way and yet needed to hear myself.

This book pulled me in from the start and stayed with me long after I finished. It’s the kind of story that makes you feel seen—and that’s why it meant so much to me.

Ps kind of was rooting for Bodhi as wel😅

Need you to choose me is the 5th and final book I the series, Lindon U and it did not disappoint. Alex and Olives story had me hooked from the prologue , please read the TW before reading.

Olive and Alex's relationship which begins in the prologue, is one of mutual agreement. It’s a no commitment, no strings, no feelings type of relationship. But when Olive reveals she has feelings, Alex immediately shuts her down and pulls away.

Fast forward about 9 months later.

Alex is returning home for a bit. He knows he made a mistake with Olive, but he had and still has a lot ion his shoulders. Not only his NHL career but his mom and her care too. He made the mistake of walking away once, he won’t do that again, even if he has to grovel.

The chemistry between Alex and Olive is really good. A part these characters were great too, as they both had their own internal struggles and battles that they were dealing with. But they balanced each other out.

On a personal level, I could relate to Olive , everything she was going through, and feelings. At some point you stop caring what others value n just do you.

This book deals with some heartfelt romance but also some struggles and challenges in life. Please read the TW as it does discuss some tough topics.

This is a great addition to the Lindon U series and closing that series with a bang .

I was so excited to have been selected to receive an ARC of B Celeste’s newest book. Need You to Choose Me is the fifth and final book in the Lindon U series. I really enjoyed getting to know all of these characters.

I loved Alex and Olive’s story. Olive is such a strong and fierce heroine which makes you love her from the start. Alex is the broody hockey player who once shattered Olive’s heart. Will these two be able to find their way back to each other? Can Olive forgive Alex for pushing her away?

As someone who suffers with Major Depressive Disorder, I really appreciate the mental health representation in this story. I felt like it was a pretty accurate portrayal and a much needed discussion about the realities of mental health and the struggles that surround it.

I would most definitely recommend this book and all the ones in the Lindon U series!! Well done, B Celeste!!

“You are the one thing in my life that has always made me feel like being myself is enough,”

B Celeste started my sports romance journey years ago with Dare You To Hate Me. It only makes sense we could comeback full circle and devour Need You To Choose Me. Alex and Olives story hit me on every single category. I loved the forbidden aspect to their relationship and all the body positivity that came with it. And we all love a MMC whose feelings never waiver.
