Messy writing still continues to be an issue with Magicmaster, as is the blandness of the characters. I honestly found it pretty hard to read this book without feeling lost or nodding off.
Even though the writer decides to bring in some action scenes, it doesn't actually convey much sense of tension and some of the drama feels really forced. The only saving grace here is the flashback of one of our main heroines (?) and even then it's still not engendering any fondness towards her.
Magicmaster continues to be a promising setup that gets letdown by bad execution.

Good Read
As expected, Alus and Loki need to bail out the first years and some upper classmen as well during the extracurricular event of fighting fiends. Alus still resents having to waste his time on untrained or stupid people, however, he is becoming protective of his students. The magic system is complicated and understanding it is crucial to the advancement of magicmasters. I like the action, humor, and personal development of the characters. I look forward to the next book.

Much better than the original volume. The extracurricular activity was mostly enjoyable though the aftermath was a little bit of a let down even considering the final outcome.
The discovery of Alice's secret was a little slow and drawn out, plus I'm still not positive what it was. Failed to follow the exposition explaining it. However I am looking forward to the next volume this time.

Good story
Have enjoyed reading this series so far and am hoping they continue for awhile. I enjoy the MC's personality in this series. I recommend it.

This book is a little better than its predecessor. While the main character is not really changing quickly, those around him are growing.
