Entertaining Read
Alus is getting some research done but is chafing at having to train students and attend class at the Institute, which eats up his time. His students, Alice and Tesfia are improving. He gets assignments that are related to an evil researcher from Alice's past. Alus is getting more rounded in his development as he begins to appreciate the feelings of others. Much to his discomfort, marriage is discussed. I like the action, humor, and character development. I look forward to the next book.

A bad guy. A real bad guy! Finally, we get some up close and personal violence!
If the writing was exciting, I would really be fired up.
We see more of the character's backgrounds. We see a battle, covert spec ops style.
The writing is getting a little better, but it just really isn't all that exciting.

Good, but not as good as the extracurricular activity event in volume 2. Might have dragged on a little too long, but didn't really notice it. The ending had some stupid harem romance angle that felt out of character for Alus.

Great series
Have been enjoying this series a lot, has more back story information happening. Look forward to the following books. If your interested then give it a try.

This is more of a 3.5 stars as it's the best volume of the series so far. While Magicmaster has been a pretty average read up to this point, this volume was better written and has made me more interested in continuing the series.
