My Totally Unfair Deal

Rate this book
Eliza Hart doesn't do heels, small talk, or sitting still—especially not for some uptight finance bro in a three-piece suit.

But when her brother ropes her into a crash course in “ladylike behavior” to help land the deals that could save their crumbling family business, she finds herself stuck in Manhattan with the cockiest bastard on earth: Harrison Jones.

Polished, smug, and irritatingly hot, Harrison owes her brother a favor—and apparently, that favor includes turning Eliza into Manhattan's newest social darling.

But in between champagne toasts, disastrous dinner parties, and one very memorable wardrobe malfunction, their love-hate banter turns into heat neither of them can ignore.

And in Harrison's sleek Manhattan penthouse, the only thing more dangerous than the high heels… is the sexual tension.

Eight weeks. One uptight gentleman. One hot mess.
What could possibly go wrong?

3.5 stars Miss Congeniality vibes

Gah. I love Miss Congeniality! I haven’t watched My Fair Lady, but I really should 👀.

Harrison (no age given for anyone) gets paid to break up with people- as in, men pay him to break up with their girlfriends 😅 (totally reminded me of Hitch lol) when he gets contacted by one of his friends, Jackson, who needs him to help his sister Eliza clean up in order to help their going-down-the-drain business, Carrington Farms.

So Harrison agrees. When he goes to meet Eliza, he realizes he’s met her before. She’s the one who previously spilled her coffee on him when she was in town 😅🫣 and now this redhead is going to help her family’s business get out of bankruptcy 😬 and Harrison needs to train her 😅.

Enter Harrison’s skills and people - aka Frederick and his minions 🤣 (think walking, talking, waxing, lol. The world 🤣).

Of course, these two can’t help but be attracted to each other 👀

Harrison owes Jackson so much, and he’s not wanting to cross that line 😬

But can he help himself?

What I liked:
— the parts that were like Miss congeniality 👏. Now I wanna watch the movie 🤣

—the 🔥. We only get a few scenes, but I liked what we got

— Eliza changing 🤣 I totally would’ve been the same as her 🤡

—the OMD 😈. Yup. I loved it when Harrison got jealous.

— the mental health aspect ❤️. Both Harrison and Eliza have lived through tragedies ❤️

—Frederick 🤣

What I didn’t like:
—no grovel😑Where is the grovel? Harrison made Eliza feel minuscule and she barely bats an eye when he comes back 🙄. Girl. Why didn’t you make him suffer?!? 😑 this would’ve easily been at least four stars, but I was so irritated at the lack of a backbone on Eliza 😑

—more 🔥. lol this is self-explanatory 🤣

— more development, especially in the scenes where Eliza is killing it and getting more business. The whole point of her getting a makeover is to get their business out of bankruptcy, so I wanted to see more of this.

Overall, I liked it

⚠️safety squad⚠️
-no cheating/sharing/owd
-mental health
-siblings suicide recounted
-death after accident recounted
-parents death recounted
-mild OMD- the h talks to OM who’s flirting with her and the H gets jealous
-HEA/epilogue mentioned

Slick, steamy, and hilariously chaotic. I devoured this in one sitting!

I thought it was going to be a fairy tale remake type of thing but ended up with some strong My Fair Lady vibes, which was my favorite movie back in the day. Eliza was hilarious and one tough cookie, and I loved the wild ride she took Harrison on as he fulfilled his favor to her brother while struggling to keep himself from crossing a line his friend definitely wouldn’t approve of. Their give and take was fun, exciting, and all that I’ve come to expect in a Whitney G book. The banter is sharp, the chemistry explosive, and the slow burn tension delivers in the best way. From wardrobe disasters to rooftop sparks, this opposites attract rom-com is classic Whitney G…bold, sexy, and totally addictive.

Pierwszy romans Whitney G., „Turbulence”, przeczytałam osiem lat temu. Wyciągnęłam z lektury dwie nauczki. Po pierwsze, anglojęzyczne romanse zawierajace sporą dawkę erotyki należy czytać w oryginale. Po drugie, Whitney Garcia Williams nieźle sobie radzi z łączeniem scen ognistego seksu z humorem i dość ciekawą, szeroko rozumianą scenerią. Nie ukrywam, że bezpośrednim impulsem do sięgnięcia po najnowszą publikację autorki było zwrócenie uwagi w recenzjach książki na uwspółcześniony wątek „Pygmaliona” G.B. Shawa, a właściwie jego musicalowej wersji, My Fair Lady*.

Dzisiejsze inwestycje” (American Agricultural & Sustainability Summit. Innovating Tomorrow. Investing in Today).

***4 "Mr. Manhattan!!!" stars***

"Eight weeks.
One uptight gentleman.
One hot mess.
What could possibly go wrong?"

This was a very fun and cute book and I had a great time reading Elisa and Harrison's love-hate story!!!
Elisa was wild at heart and independent to a fault and then her brother forced her to live under Harrison's rules in order to become more ladylike, a department that she was lacking...
Eight weeks under Harrison Jones's thumb is a nightmare that Elisa never wanted to live even though the man was beyond pretty... but he was a cocky bastard that was determined to make her life a living hell...
What could possible go right??? LOL

"Why do the sexiest men always have to be douchebags?"

Harrison was uptight and arrogant, but I liked him!!! He was swoon worthy in a different way, a more asshollish way!!!
His ethic wasn't the greatest with the services that he was providing, but he could make miracles sometimes, like in the case of a Southern sexbomb with the manners of a wildcat!!!!
Elisa was a free spirit and I loved her wild strike, but they wanted to tame her and that was unbareable for her... And that Harrison was the one who had to do it was something out of her worst nightmares!!!

"It was just a deal. A temporary fucking unfair deal."

These two had tons of chemistry since the very first moment they met and I loved seeing them fall, even though the situation wasn't the ideal...
This wasn't a big book, but it was pretty satisfying and I enjoyed it very much!!!
I needed this cute and sexy break from my reality these days!!!

"I look like a woman you'd stop everything for now, right?"
"No. You were always that woman the day we first met."

🔥 “You were mine the moment I saw you,”

🔥 “You jealous?” “Violently.”

Eliza Hart is not cut out for the office environment instead preferring hands-on work at her family farm. However, when the family business is on the line, her brother employs her to seek crucial financial backing at an upcoming convention in Manhattan. To prepare her for this brutal environment, he seeks help from his good friend, Harrison Jones. Harrison currently gets paid to break up with high end clientele's girlfriends and knows exactly how to navigate the socialite scene. Can he transform Eliza in eight weeks to help her secure the funding her family needs or will their growing tension prove to be the ultimate distraction?

Although their chemistry was evident from the very beginning, it was fun to see Harrison and Eliza try to avoid their obvious attraction. Even though their personalities are quite the opposite from each other, the banter, chemistry, and tension were balanced quite well for this couple to make sense - especially for quite a short story. I appreciated the deeper discussion on the mental health struggles they each experienced. Admittedly, I wasn't a fan of the end conflict but the resolution made up for it.

“My Fair Lady” was one of my favorite movies growing up, so I devoured this story! I loved the instant chemistry and the perfect slow burn between Harrison and Eliza—they were adorable together, and I couldn’t wait for them to finally give in!

The writing and pacing were spot on, and when Harrison called in Frederick… absolute hilarity ensued!

The Bonus Epilogue from the author’s newsletter was pure perfection!

Cute, fun, and full of lovable characters—such a great read! 🥰

MY Totally Unfair Deal

This story is full of unexpected events , drama, attraction and love. Two people who are total opposites find themselves attracted to each other. He is trying to teach her business etiquette, and she is trying not to find ways to hurt him. This is truly a great feel good story.

This was a really cute read.

Harrison and Eliza's chemistry was immediate, and it was hilarious watching these two try to avoid that chemistry throughout the beginning of their work relationship.

I enjoyed how this story played out and watching these two grow in new ways. There were some scenes that felt a bit jilted (could've had a better transition) but the majority of this book flowed nicely.

Another entertaining story from Whitney.

Eliza is in charge of PR and landing investors for her family's rural resort. However, she is a little rough around the edges so her brother calls in a favor with an old college friend Harrison, to teach her to be more ladylike and fit in with the social elite. At first, she can't stand Harrison but as the lessons start she starts to like him and the two start hooking up during her time in his penthouse but when the conference starts he becomes cold, distant and professional and Eliza is hurt and goes home.
I liked Eliza and Harrison's story a lot and that they annoyed each other. Their banter in this book was amazing and I'm glad she didn't just let Harrison contact her through phone to grovel but made it so that he had to go see her to get her back. I hope there is a book about her brother and her best friend because I would love to read that.

I know, wholeheartedly, that when I pick up a Whitney G book that I'm going to be stuck to it and reading it nonstop because her stories and the way she writes her characters, ALWAYS has me so excited and crazy over them.

This was no different. We have Eliza and Harrison. The Posh City Bachelor who's swagger is enough to make you crave him, not even taking in the fact that he can make girls crazy over him with just a smile.
He knows how girls want him and he's unapologetic about it.

Eliza is trying to land investment deals for her family's farm slash luxury resort. Her brother Jackson is counting on her and it's their family's legacy.
She also is very brilliant about all the farm knowledge and agricultural background.
The only thing she's lacking - some top class mannerisms that are so called needed to impress the men in suits to get a business deal for her family.

I kid you not, that first meet cute of theirs... Ahhh.... So cute and had me smiling. Especially when they meet the second time and Harrison has no idea that the gorgeous redhead he had stumbled upon is the same woman who's his friend's sister.

Harrison hides it well but he's absolutely smitten with Eliza right from that very first glance.
Eliza is a strong one and her mouth delivers what's she's thinking when someone crosses a line, in very strong manner.

I was cracking up with their banter because it was freaking lit. Seriously I was laughing and at times giggling with the way these two loved to exchange verbal barbs.
It's more flirtatious for Harrison but Eliza is as serious as she is. 😅

Even though Harrison comes across as an arrogant man who thinks highly of himself but while reading I felt that he was just the right amount of the proper attitude.
His work and the circle he frequents demands a no nonsense and a big I-don't-care-what-you-think kinda approach and he's nailed it.

But I loved how he was unapologetic and not hesitant to share how much Eliza affected him. He was subtle at times about it, but the sizzling chemistry between them made me want to fan myself with the lingering hot tension that was so palpable between these two.

Prologue and Epilogue - both are my utmost favorite from this book because of how contrasting they are and really I feel captures perfectly the essence of the book that's a mix of humor, hot tension and the perfect balance of Enemies-to-Lovers vibes.

✨ Romance | Humor | Enemies to Lovers | Opposites Attract | Farm Girl vs. Manhattan Mogul Energy™
"Warning: You will fall hard. You will laugh out loud. You will blush like a scandalized debutante at a Manhattan gala. This book is EVERYTHING."
I knew I was going to enjoy this book… but I had no idea it would become my favourite Whitney romance till date. My Totally Unfair Deal is the kind of story that makes your heart cartwheel and your Kindle melt. It’s witty, spicy, and utterly adorable; and I lived for every chaotic, tender, slow-burn second of it.

💋 Enter Eliza Hart:
Tennessee farm girl. Outspoken, muddy-boots-wearing, doesn’t-give-a-damn-about-caviar-or-couture. She’s trying to save her family’s inn with sheer determination and a rake. Her weakness? High heels. And the irritatingly sexy finance bro her brother forces her to learn “manners” from.

💼 Enter Harrison Jones:
Manhattan’s most polished, painfully smug, silk-tie-wrapped storm of sarcasm and swagger. He runs a breakup consulting business (yes, really), and owes her brother a huge favor. His mission? Turn this “hot mess” into a society-ready lady in 8 weeks. But guess what? Eliza’s not the only one in danger of being transformed.

💥 What follows is pure magic:
• Grumpy x Sunshine (but with ✨fireworks✨)
• Banters that bite and flirt in equal measure
• Slow-burn tension that had me clutching my Kindle and whispering “just kiss already” into the void
• Makeover tropes with the perfect mix of sass and heart (think My Fair Lady meets Gossip Girl meets Southern sass queen energy meets Fairy Godmother vibe)
• A sizzling enemies-to-lovers arc that made me laugh, swoon, and squeal—sometimes all in one chapter
And OMG - Harrison’s job?? Genius. Whitney, how do you come up with this stuff?!
But what really surprised me was the emotional depth tucked inside the humor. This isn’t just a rom-com. There are moments that sting—about family loyalty, identity, and not being “enough” in a world full of labels and legacies. And Eliza, strong and vulnerable and utterly lovable, felt like someone I knew. Someone I rooted for.

Final Thoughts:
If you’re into smart heroines, hot messes who bloom, banter that belongs in a rom-com, and heroes who fall first but deny it with their entire chest—you’re going to devour this. I laughed. I swooned. I highlighted like a madwoman. I didn’t want it to end.
So, Whitney, if you’re listening: I NEED a spinoff for Eliza’s brothers. And I will happily read 15 more books set in this world. 💌

📚 ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Honestly? I’d trade my favorite pair of boots to read this again for the first time.

Every time I think Whitney’s last book can’t be topped, she comes in with another one & just knocks it out of the park. I don’t know why I’m even surprised. Whitney can write!

A country girl meets a city boy. What could go wrong?!

Jackson & Eliza are brother & sister who run Hart Farms which is a luxury resort in Tennessee. But it’s not doing too great at the moment & Eliza needs to meet with some very important business people in order to try & save the family business. There’s only one problem. She needs a crash course on manners & how to behave like a lady. Enter Harrison Jones. Jackson & Harrison were college roommates & Harrison owes Jackson a favor. Jackson needs Harrison to coach his sister on how to fit into the elite circles before they lose everything their family built. But Harrison only has 8 weeks to get it done & Eliza isn’t exactly the most cooperative person.

Eliza was so great! What a strong bold personality she had & I always love a strong female character who dishes the banter back to the guy!! She had me laughing so hard at times with her attitude. But she had a softer side too. She reminded me a lot of myself in some ways. I don’t wear heels. I don’t dress up. I to have yelled at a delivery person when they’ve tossed my package on the porch as if I didn’t pay for that. I love female characters like her! Harrison was so sarcastic, smart & funny but charming none the less. Again, loved the banter between the two. Also, let’s not forget about Jackson. What a good brother he was. Very protective.

Whitney killed it with this!!

Eliza is as country as they come but she is smart as a tack. She bumps into Jackson while in New York on business for her family’s business. Needless to say, she has a sharp tongue when her and Harrison first meet. When her brother asks Harrison for the favor that he promised him years ago Harrison was shocked to find out he would be teaching Eliza how to be the proper lady. Harrison knew from the moment he met her in Manhattan that she was a woman he wanted in his life he just had no idea it would be his best friend’s little sister. Jackson and Eliza’s family business depends on her going to New York and trying to land as many new clients as possible to keep the family business from closing only Eliza has no idea that the ranch is in trouble. Harrison agreed to teach Eliza all the tricks of the trade so that she could charm and impress the people she needed to to try to save the ranch. She and Harrison had no idea that they would be attacked to each other and fall head over heals for one another. What will happen when Harrison realizes that he shouldn’t have crossed the bro code and friendship line?

I loved this story. I loved the banter between Harrison and Eliza and how he fell for her from the moment he met her. She is sharp tongued and doesn’t take anything off of anyone but watching Harrison teach her how to be elegant was such a sweet story. Their chemistry was off the charts. Great job Whitney. I am so honored to have received an arc copy of this book and I am freely leaving my honest review.

A modern version of My Fair Lady, this entertaining romance is fun and well-thought out.

Ill-tempered Eliza is free and wild on her family farm. However, her days of foul-mouthed persecution of unfairness are over when her brother coerces her into a rehabilitation programme to curate her manners, language and attitude in the hands of cold, handsome city man Harrison. She's all fire and untamed beauty, and he's icy efficiency and distance. Of course, frontal collision between the two provoke funny encounters, challenging dialogues and melting bedsheets galore.

Even though the poor girl suffers quite a lot with this pruning system, the whole process is highly entertaining and she comes out victorious. From strong duckling to successful swan, Eliza takes Manhattan by storm and it's so fun to watch. I enjoyed the beauty sessions for the dreamy transformation they symbolise and I think everything related to the farm business and plans are very interesting. On the other hand, the romance is quick and hot as it usually is with this writer.

There's a point where perhaps I'd have made Harrison explain his harsh behaviour better. I'm not saying he didn't suffer for his own mistakes, but sometimes their communication faltered :-D Despite that, I found all the characters and their stories interesting, and perhaps we could have someone else's story too. That farm is a good scenario for more romances.

City meets Country with fireworks!

What kind of romance story starts with a sentence like this?
“Once upon a time, in a cold and callous kingdom called Manhattan, there lived a “heartless bastard” who became disillusioned with the rules of modern dating.”

Harrison Jones, ruthless man that breaks up with women for a living! That’s right he is contracted by weak men to break up with their girlfriends for them. Sounds like the job of a man who has been heart broken!

Eliza Hart, country girl from Tennessee and she is a fireball. Beautiful, younger sister, raised on a farm! She knows everything about the family business but nothing about how to talk to people!

The family business is on the verge of bankruptcy and Jackson Hart calls in an old favor from his friend Harrison to “polish” Eliza to be able to speak to potential investors at an agricultural event in Manhattan.

The job will be challenging but Harrison is not going to say no to his long time friend!

The job is to take her to Manhattan, train her up (walk in heels, chat with the elite, and sell their business to investors for growth) and send her back home!

When Harrison meets Eliza at their airport he immediately sees the woman who poured her hot coffee on him weeks before!

Hatred and angst makes for a great story!

“Eliza didn’t just change the trajectory of her life. She changed mine.”

My Totally Unfair Deal is a delightfully modern twist on My Fair Lady, brimming with charm, wit, and irresistible chemistry. Harrison and Eliza are the epitome of “opposites attract”—he’s buttoned-up and business-savvy, she’s spirited and unapologetically bold—and somehow, it just works.

From their very first meeting, sparks fly. When Harrison reluctantly agrees to coach Eliza on winning over the elite at a high-stakes business conference, their playful bickering quickly turns into something much more combustible.

Eliza is an absolute firecracker. Full of sass and fierce loyalty, she refuses to conform for the sake of impressing stuffy investors, even if it might save her family’s struggling company. Harrison, ever the skeptic, finds himself intrigued—okay, maybe a little obsessed—with her unfiltered honesty and vibrant energy.

Packed with snarky banter, laugh-out-loud moments, and slow-burn tension that ignites into full-blown fireworks, My Totally Unfair Deal is the perfect weekend binge-read. Equal parts sweet and spicy, it’s an irresistibly fun ride from start to finish.

My Totally Unfair Deal is an opposites attract romance by Whitney G. The leading man, Harrison Jones is an uber-wealthy, charming, city boy (man). He’s rich, handsome, successful, and arrogant. Eliza Hart, is a smart, well-educated farmer. She works on her family’s farm and is tasked with getting financial investments from corporations that don’t know what makes the grass grow. Harrison and Eliza have a chance encounter in the city that leaves lasting impressions on both of them. That would have been the end of things, except fate brings the two together again when Eliza’s brother contacts his college buddy who owes him a favor to help prepare his sister to schmooze businessmen at a major convention and it turns out to be Harrison.

Their unlikely reunion is full of word foreplay and sizzling chemistry. Eliza and Harrison’s love/hate banter is a perfect mix of humor and tension and it’s elevated by their close proximity from having to live together for eight weeks. Overall, this is a fantastic easy read that perfectly balances sarcastic humor with romance. It’s light, fun, and is an enjoyable way to escape for an afternoon or evening.

Eliza Hart, our FMC, is a bit brash and dresses like she's right off of the farm. It's not a good first impression for investors and her brother needs her to really impress them. He's in danger of losing the farm resort/spa. Eliza doesn't know this because Jackson, for whatever reason, hasn't told her.

He asks his friend, Harrison Jones, our MMC, to whip Eliza into shape so she can attract desperately needed investors. Eliza knows the business but she needs a makeover and deportment to get it done.

Harrison has sort of met her when was in New York once before but didn't know her. Of course, things are going to be complicated between them but what better way to build steam. Without knowing who she is, he heads down to Tennessee to meet up with Jackson and meet Eliza again. Sparks fly and heads bump and away we go.

Witty dialog and entertaining story but it could have been more. Some characters could have been fleshed out more and some lingering questions answered but overall I liked the story and would recommend it as a short entertaining book.

My Total Unfair Deal by Whitney G is a story about the Hart family, with a focus on Eliza and her two brothers, Jackson and Lance. Their parents' decision to leave the family Inn and farm in Tennessee to Jackson has caused a rift between the brothers. However, Eliza's unwavering love for farming keeps her by Jackson's side, playing a crucial role in helping him manage the place. Jackson's hidden secrets and the looming threat of bankruptcy could change their lives. In a desperate attempt to save the family, Jackson turns to his college roommate, Harrison Jones. Eliza Hart doesn't do heels, small talk, or business people in three-piece suits. Jackson signs her up for "debutant" classes with the socialite from Manhattan.

Eight weeks, an uptight guy, and one hot mess, what could go wrong?

Whitney G is well known for writing banter, hilarious, laugh-out-loud, hold-your-belly, and cross-your-legs humor, and she delivers!

This was a quick and entertaining read. Eliza runs a farm/ resort with her brother. She went to New York to meet with potential investors. That didn’t go well. And after running into a guy and spilling her coffee she’s done with New York and ready to go home. Harrison is leaving when he runs into a spitfire that’s spills her coffee all over him. Despite her attitude he’s still thinks she’s beautiful. But he wasn’t able to get her name. Several weeks later after Eliza has returned home her brother informs her that his friend is coming to help her fit into the sophisticated crowd that she’ll be dealing with when she attends the biggest agricultural convention in New York. Her last chance to get the investors they need. And the friend turns out to be the jerk she ran into while in New York. And she’ll be going back with him for eight weeks. This was an enjoyable read. I loved the prologue and epilogue!

1. Eliza was supposed to have lessons on diction, enunciation and pronunciation from a man that said, “me and the yoga instructor have been waiting for you”?
2. Harrison said that he broke up with his gf because “she was trying to be someone she thought I’d want”. What a hypocrite. Wasn’t that exactly what he was doing with Eliza?
3. Harrison deliberately set Eliza up to be humiliated, going so far as to let her go off to the luncheon with the price tag still on her dress. The idea behind all of this “help” he was giving her was supposed to be making her feel MORE confident, not less.
4. The shopping scene was totally ripped off from “Pretty Woman”; unfortunately, it was minus the satisfaction of the second trip where the salesgirls were put in their place.
5. When, after all the times that Harrison had hurt and humiliated her, all Eliza could think of was how much she wanted to have $ex with him, I was done.

Jackson needs a favor. He calls his friend Harrison and needs help. He asks Harrison to coach his sister how to speak and mingle with the elite. Their farm needs help, there is a conference coming up, and Eliza needs to deliver. Harrison owes Jackson so he agrees. With great protest, Eliza eventually agrees. So from TN to NY they go.

Harrison provides all the details to teach Eliza how to be proper, professional. There are some issues along the way (Straight from Pretty Woman) but Eliza finally finds out why this is so important. Meanwhile Harrison and Eliza also find a connection with each other.

Now, to be honest, this is a round up number. It is a cute story but there are some gaps. The book is short and moves quickly which is fine, but it also leaves some things unexplained. Still a fun and entertaining read that you can knock out pretty quickly.

A modern My Fair Lady twist with all the sass and steam you'd expect from Whitney G!

When break- up expert Harrison takes on the challenge of transforming his best friend’s chaotic sister, Eliza, into a confident and polished businesswoman to help save the family company, he thinks it’s just another task to check off. But Eliza turns his world upside down in all the best (and worst) ways.

What starts as a favor quickly becomes a complicated dance of power, passion, and personal growth.
Eliza is bold, unfiltered, and unexpectedly brilliant—and she just might be the one to force Harrison to reevaluate everything he thought he knew about life, love, and what it means to truly connect.

Jackson & Eliza are a brother & sister who run Hart Farms, a luxury resort in Tennessee.

Eliza is a very strong and opinionated person and the immediate and intense chemistry between her Harrison is electric. I guarantee a great read with Whitney’s latest book.
