Egypt Armstrong is a rising R&B star with a career on fire and walls built high. Nasseem Walker is an undefeated fighter with a checkered past and a secret soft spot—for her. What starts as a slow burn between longtime frenemies turns into a private romance neither of them saw coming. But keeping love in the dark doesn’t stop the spotlight from finding them. As Egypt’s career rises and Nasseem fights for the biggest win of his life, they discover love isn’t always enough—especially when secrets, scars, and sacrifice are all waiting at the door. This isn’t a fairytale. It’s real love. Messy. Complicated. Addictive. And once it starts, there’s no going back.
Egypt and Nasseem had a love hate relationship that was more love than hate. It was always evident that they had a connection. Egypt was a singer and Nasseem was a boxer. They were part of a huge friends network we met in the previous books in the series. The story is about relationships, friendship, love, greed and a reminder that all family members are not always supportive. Mostly, the story is about Nasseem's and Egypt's growth and finding their perfect peace together in room 34...
Egypt and Nas’ story is much more than a simple romance; which I should’ve known. Because Creed and Serenity were the same way.
Overall I think the story was 4 stars, but the lack of trigger warning was huge for me. Plus there were some holes in the story, that didn’t make sense. Considering I didn’t finish Royal and Averi’s story, I’m not sure if it’s covered there. But the repeated statements of the grief Averi and Egypt survived. And the odd way Nana allowed Egypt to be treated in front of her during the dinner. How was that love? And why didn’t Egypt tell Nana what happened? She was notified while they were the hospital. Seems odd since she was her safe place.
The author did a good job of addressing the all or nothing thought process when it comes to healing. Allowing room for Nas to see it’s complicated and doesn’t have to be one or the other. He could both love and appreciate brother, but also separate himself from him.
I really loved their story. I can't believe Nate would go to the lengths he did just to hurt his brother and bullying him into doing what he wanted. How could you do your own blood like that. If he would have came to Nas as a man and brother he would have helped him with no questions asked. Now Nas did tick me off with the way he spoke to Egypt when she told him about the baby. I'm glad he was able to make things right. I don't like Egypt's aunt or her hough azz cousin but I loved her granny.💗💗
Wow! This was SO good! The whole series is pure Fiyah! 🔥 I loved how they loved each other. Nasseem had me ready to get in the ring with him for a moment, but that comeback was real. Very well done Author Genesis Carter! 💖👏🏾
I was on edge for this couple. When 1st introduced to them with all that back and forth closing they did, I knew they liked each other, I just hate it took so long for them to get together. I won't add any spoilers, but that was MESSED UP. Great read.
