ZionLine's promise was triple your lifespan. The price? Surviving an unknown world rife with brutal combat, where the gruesome deaths are terrifyingly real. For a desperate humanity, it was a price worth paying
But beneath the time dilation’s gleaming facade lies a horrific truth that Earth's elite will kill to conceal. They will fail. Raine KongRu has seen this future before. He lived through the yoke of captivity it heralds, and he knows there is precious little time to consolidate his power before millions die—again
Enemies multiply as events outside Raine’s memories proliferate. But he wouldn’t have it any other way, for Raine’s martial path is one of challenge, pressure, and risk. The more on the line, the faster he evolves to meet the tidal wave of forces arrayed against him.
Under the guise of Alaric, Raine is hunted by those with the means to see him dead in both worlds. CronGate was once his home, its leaders his mentors, its people his own. They taught him everything he knew, and enslaved him for a lifetime. Now, CronGate’s vast financial might is aimed directly at his throat, and they’ll stop at nothing to ensure Raine KongRu, and Alaric, become just another footnote in history.
The feeling is mutual.

I listened to the first one, which I felt wasn’t the best, but had potential— But this? I have no clue where we started off… I felt like we were just thrown in & it’s so difficult to pick up from how book 1 ended. It’s just chaotic… And yeah, this series is probably not for me, but it might be for you!! 🫶🏽
Ready Player One meets Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Another awesome installment. I’m totally addicted to this series. The story, the characters, the action, the suspense, it all just works. The pacing keeps you locked in, and the tension never lets up.
What I love most this time is how the worldbuilding goes deeper. You’ve got the VR world, where the system rules and every skill or stat has purpose, and then you’ve got the real world, an alternate version of Earth where technology thrives but martial arts reign supreme. Here, guns aren’t just illegal; they’re an unforgivable sin. The moment one appears, the government and the people unite to erase the threat completely. No trial, no mercy, just total elimination. In this world, martial arts aren’t just for combat, they’re culture, discipline, and identity. Strength is measured through mastery, not machinery.
The MC might be overpowered, but it’s handled perfectly. He still fights, struggles, and earns every victory. The blend of high-stakes action, clever systems, and a world that feels truly alive makes this series stand out. Two books down, and somehow it keeps leveling up.
The first book in this series was awesome, and I wondered if the next would live up to the same standard. This second book did not disappoint. There is satisfying story progression, interesting character development and lots of fight scenes. The author also reveals more of the world mechanics and how they work. Negative: *small spoiler* I didn't appreciate that one of the characters starts to seem to get pleasure from being commanded like a slave. But this isn't enough to sour me on the series, and I eagerly look forward to the next installment.
Note to self: this books reads like “and I found a pebble in my shoe, but it wasn’t a simple pebble. It was a secret fragment of the core of the world which allowed me to become the strongest pebbler in generations. And also I farted, which became a tornado strong enough to change the landscape. And then…”. It’s fun, but definitely don’t binge read as it can get a bit.
First book was litrpg, second book is switching to cultivation via edgelord MC; with a splash of annoying harem.
This was... pretty bad. Basically no litrpg, only cultivation and not great cultivation at that. MC begins assembling a cohort of weirdoes, who are just tropes and stereotypes without real personality. The harem part was an annoying addition as well, not well pulled off.
If the third entry doesn't course correct, I'll be jumping off on this one and save myself the annoyance.
Loved the first book in this series and the second continues that trend just as well. Love the progression of the characters and adding more people around Raine. We also get to learn more about the the world outside the game and the landscape of what needs to be accomplished for him to succeed. Some light hints at things to come and some small mysterious points to be discovered. Looking forward to book 3!
Accidentally read the sample for book 2 and was so confused but loved how descriptive it was and I was immediately drawn into the characters even though I knew nothing. So I immediately started book 1 and read straight through to book 2 and absolutely can't wait for book 3. I love the illustrations the most because it helps me become more immersed in the hook. I honestly wouldn't mind more but I'm a visual leaner. I hope the next one is released soon.
Love the story, excellent MC, good world building.
I enjoyed all the aspects of the story. There is a smart, intelligent, likable MC whom is a regressor so he knows a lot. The side characters are written very well and have their own personalities. The world building is excellent and I like the integration of the game world as well as the outer world. May have to go on Patreon to sign up for this series. Read it, you won’t be disappointed.
Love a strong protagonist that still has to work for it. Also greatly appreciate the fact it's well written and lacking spelling and grammatical errors that a lot of books in this genre have. Excited for book 3!
The action and story are enjoyable for the most part, but there is almost no character development… and unfortunately if you like strong , life-like complex characters, this portends to not be a book like that .
A very good and fun story, itdoesnt fall to any of the normal holes in vr stories. Lots of intrigue inside and out of the game, real life consequences, a magic system that is i teresting and not just stats and windows... Very highly recommended
This story of a guy getting a redo in a world and game world dominated by martial artists was a very interesting entertaining read that I really enjoyed reading.
The theme — guy is a huge arsehole and gets away with it because he’s so powerful — is a lot less enjoyable in this one. I think in the first one I felt like he had good intentions, but that has really faded away in this one. He’s just a jerk.
I don't usually write a review, I just give stars, however this book made me laugh uncontrollably. Well written, great story and characters. I'm on to the next book.
