I loved how Thuldrun didn’t feel like it was trying too hard. It’s just a cool, weird story with a lot of imagination. The idea that ancient India had technology beyond our understanding? That really hooked me. But it’s not written like a textbook or mythology lesson, it’s fast-paced and full of small, funny moments too. The dialogue felt real, and I liked how the characters weren’t perfect heroes. They mess up, panic, and still keep going. It felt like an adventure I could picture happening right here, right now. That’s what made it fun!!!

Thuldrun Shunya is a tour de force, a saga that starts in Maharashtra and ventures into a hidden world developed beyond imagination. It's a flight of fantasy that comes hurtling out of the paper, gripping you in its papery claws, not letting you go for a long long time.
Ansh Chatterjee , a troubled soul, grappling with ADHD, anxiety and stress is waiting for his Caltech results. But more than that, there is something that's on his mind, constantly gnawing, etching it's place in his skull. He has come across a vastly developed world Thuldrun. It's a best kept secret: did ancient India discover how to bend physics according to their will?
But this discovery has put Ansh in immense danger. He can feel a menacing black shadow following him. His mental peace has been shredded. His mother is breathing down his neck. And an ancient force might have become his enemy. But why? Well you have to read the book. I won't tell you everything here.
Such stories, where charcters set out on a journey to achieve something when odds are stacked against them, are my favourite. And here Ansh is on a life-bending odyssey. The world of Thuldrun is majestic. Here merchants don't just trade in wares but also in ideas and philosophies. Sculptures defy gravity. Chariots race across the sky, chased by dragons.
The author duo of Ghosh and Choksi have built up emotion, drama and mystery and throw their characters into the mix. The reader can't help but build a bridge of empathy with the lives of these people. An emotional cord is immediately hooked and it continues until the last page is turned over. The world of Ansh, his parents, Uncle Rotoro, Galileo feels not made up but organic. A special mention here is to rotund Uncle Rotoro, 'with frame carrying the kind of comforting heft that suggested he never turned down a second helping of aloo poshto'.
Although the story is set in Mumbai, the characters have their roots in Bengal. I loved the peppering of Bangla words and landmarks in the story: Peter Cat, Daaknaam, paanch phoron, lucchi, ilish macher jhol, kosha mangsho, shukto, lau ghonto, ghugni and many more. The story is also strewn with heavy jargon related to IT world that brings a certain authenticity since our main character is a kind of computer geek.
The authors take their time setting up the story. Instead of jumping straight, they set up the atmospherics and weaves the story tightly around the characters that will matter as the story progresses. They have written about young adult angst with ease, dexterity and a delicate sensitivity that makes you feel for these characters.
Have a look: "Born and raised in the heart of Mumbai, Ansh Chatterjee seemed to have it all: comfort, supportive parents and opportunity. But there was something that never felt quite right. Since childhood, he had carried a sense of wrongness, a feeling that his world wasn't stitched together as it was supposed to be. He couldn't tell anyone; how could he when he lacked the words for it? He knew what people thought of him: an intelligent, easy-going young man with every opportunity at his feet. So that was the mask he wore."
These nuances and detailing of the characters however don't affect the pace of the story. Ghosh and Choksi keep their characters crisp without letting the layering affect the story. The storytelling is engaging and the writing style skilful. The characters feel real and full bodied, not lifeless and cardboardish. The reader feels helpless as there is only one goal in the present and now: to finish the book. Everything else comes later.

Thuldrun Shunya is a tour de force, a saga that starts in Maharashtra and ventures into a hidden world developed beyond imagination. It's a flight of fantasy that comes hurtling out of the paper, gripping you in its papery claws, not letting you go for a long long time.
Ansh Chatterjee , a troubled soul, grappling with ADHD, anxiety and stress is waiting for his Caltech results. But more than that, there is something that's on his mind, constantly gnawing, etching it's place in his skull. He has come across a vastly developed world Thuldrun. It's a best kept secret: did ancient India discover how to bend physics according to their will?
But this discovery has put Ansh in immense danger. He can feel a menacing black shadow following him. His mental peace has been shredded. His mother is breathing down his neck. And an ancient force might have become his enemy. But why? Well you have to read the book. I won't tell you everything here.
Such stories, where charcters set out on a journey to achieve something when odds are stacked against them, are my favourite. And here Ansh is on a life-bending odyssey. The world of Thuldrun is majestic. Here merchants don't just trade in wares but also in ideas and philosophies. Sculptures defy gravity. Chariots race across the sky, chased by dragons.
The author duo of Ghosh and Choksi have built up emotion, drama and mystery and throw their characters into the mix. The reader can't help but build a bridge of empathy with the lives of these people. An emotional cord is immediately hooked and it continues until the last page is turned over. The world of Ansh, his parents, Uncle Rotoro, Galileo feels not made up but organic. A special mention here is to rotund Uncle Rotoro, 'with frame carrying the kind of comforting heft that suggested he never turned down a second helping of aloo poshto'.
Although the story is set in Mumbai, the characters have their roots in Bengal. Even a one-eyed stray dog wandering through Dadar’s cracked pavements feels strangely meaningful, like a quiet messenger from somewhere beyond. There are such subtle and haunting details that the story begins to blur the line between the ordinary and the extraordinary.
Ansh Chatterjee, a brilliant yet restless young man, feels an unsettling wrongness about his world, as if reality itself is slightly out of tune. I Loved, the way each chapter has a symbol in header which kept the visual hunger of knowing what this chapter carry ,no doubt that this book is outcome of both our writers who devoted their numerours hours for ancient civilizations , a perfect blend of a techie and a researcher which comes in the for of thuldrun sunya.
though i feel this book sometime use complex jargon but overall it is a good read

Along the way are a sarcastic hacker, a fringe theorist, and a meditative dog (who may or may not understand Sanskrit). The plot dips into science fiction, secrecy, metaphysics, and hidden layers of reality.
at first this book ask super concentration from me honestly my interest started building after chapter 1 but does that mean you can skip that chapter A COMPLETE NO because that set up the plot on which the book goes forward… and do not skip the Epilouge
Blend of the unusual & hackers and conspiracies gives the narrative a fun twist you expect sci-fi thriller tropes, but there’s also whimsy and spiritual undertones.

What if the myths we grew up listening to were not just stories, but coded truths about a science far beyond our understanding? That’s the thought that pulled me into Thuldrun.Sunya by Samiran Ghosh and Sheetal Choksi.
I started reading this book because I enjoy sci-fi, whether in movies or novels, they open doors to imaginative possibilities and let me travel across strange landscapes without leaving my room. This story did exactly that.
At its heart is Ansh Chatterjee, a teenager from Mumbai who is a curious lad having great passion at learning who suddenly finds himself tangled in mysteries that connect ancient Indian civilisation with futuristic concepts like quantum entanglement. He’s browsing conspiracy forums, chasing clues that question the very fabric of reality that dates thousands of years! But what is Thuldrun or rather where is it and what is there?
As the story progresses with a good of balances modern-day Mumbai like the traffic, everyday chaos it also captures the hidden worlds of old temples, relics, and forgotten knowledge.
So, this keeps the story realistic yet at each point we find something to explore!
Ansh is not your typical hero but you know like us funny, and often confused, which made him more relatable. Like he is our friend and we walk besides him in his quest. And he has an unusual team comprising of a hacker, theorist, and even a dog but despite its heavy themes, humorous elements are there to keep it enough light for a joyful read.
The book raises big questions about whether ancient India might have held scientific knowledge powerful enough to shape the future. It mixes mythology, science, and a bit of drama in a way that feels both familiar and fresh. For me, it was like standing on the edge of two worlds at once.

The book is a blend of mythology, fantasy & science fiction, thus appealing to all those who enjoy the speculative genre. That being said, it can be a bit difficult to follow the story initially if you are a beginner-level reader in the genre, especially the technological jargon related to hacking. Regardless of that, the novel is an engrossing & compelling read that will leave you wanting more by the end.

Ansh Chatterjee’s story is the kind of book that grabs you with its wild premise and refuses to let go, even when you want to roll your eyes a little. On one hand, it’s absolutely entertaining late-night Maggi, doomscrolling conspiracies, and suddenly you’re thrown into a world of ancient Indian civilisations tinkering with quantum entanglement. On the other, it occasionally tries to do too much, leaving you slightly dizzy with all the science-mythology mashups.
I loved how grounded Ansh feels at the start. He’s awkward, sarcastic, and far from your typical “chosen one” which makes his tumble into this techno-mystical quest feel believable. His banter with the hacker character is hilarious, and the theorist reminded me of those uncles at weddings who think they’ve cracked the universe. And the dog? Pure joy. Honestly, I’d read an entire spinoff just from the dog’s perspective.

It is based on the adventures of an ordinary teenager, Ansh Chatterjee, who accidentally finds himself in a place of ancient mysteries, lost technologies, and interstellar threats that seem to be both surreal and terrifyingly real.
🪷The most unique thing about this book is the way in which it smoothly intertwines with Indian history, Indian mythology, and quantum physics without ever getting out of proper pace. One minute you are laughing at the snapshot sarcasm of Ansh about Maggi noodles, and the other moment you are experiencing the adventure quest of Ansh finding clues Left by an ancient civilisation which can be proof of Dwaraka's existence . There is also the supporting characters, a rogue-hacker, a lunatic theorist, and even an oddly philosophizing dog, which introduces so much vitality and humour that the narrative never becomes too serious even when the more philosophical issues are addressed.

While growing I was always fascinated to read any article about Dwarka the ancient submerged city in Gujarat. It's about how ancient technology establish the link to the future generations and how it can be recovered.
Thuldrun, book one by Sheetal Choksi and Samiran Ghosh is one such take on the unfolding the mysteries around Dwarka and finding an answer in such twisted tale. It is built around the story where worlds are going to end but just us humans are busy in our own worlds. But the solution which could help us save is lost in the city of Dwarka and its ancient technology.
The story line initially builds tension around it and the characters are introduced nicely. The writing style could have been better with not extending the story through the lines but rather could have been kept short, on point and crisp. This might have engaged reader more and keep them resonated with what is going to happen next.
Thuldrun, book one by Sheetal Choksi and Samiran Ghosh is one such take on the unfolding the mysteries around Dwarka and finding an answer in such twisted tale. It is built around the story where worlds are going to end but just us humans are busy in our own worlds. But the solution which could help us save is lost in the city of Dwarka and its ancient technology.
The story line initially builds tension around it and the characters are introduced nicely. The writing style could have been better with not extending the story through the lines but rather could have been kept short, on point and crisp. This might have engaged reader more and keep them resonated with what is going to happen next.

📚 The story also makes you feel like maybe the past is not as far away as we think. It made me curious about old Indian stories and how they might connect to real science. Thuldrun makes your brain light up in new ways. I enjoyed.

have created something genuinely original here - part Dan Brown thriller, part hard science fiction, part coming-of-age story, all wrapped up in a deeply researched exploration of India's forgotten scientific legacy.
The Mumbai setting is perfect - a city where ancient and ultra-modern collide daily, making it the ideal backdrop for this story.
The supporting characters each bring something unique to the table, and that dog... I won't spoil it, but be prepared for some unexpected wisdom delivered with perfect comedic timing. 🙌😂
