Ebrahim, trent'anni, accetta che la madre e la zia gli combinino un appuntamento al buio con una ragazza molto timida, per conoscersi meglio viaggeranno da Tehran a Isfahan e passeranno una notte insieme in albergo, fingendosi marito e moglie. Il vero scopo del viaggio di Elham, però, che Ebrahim scopre la mattina seguente, è trovare un esorcista che la liberi dai sogni inquietanti e ingarbugliati che la tormentano da sempre e hanno conseguenze pesanti sulla sua vita quotidiana. Isfahan si rivelerà una semplice tappa di un percorso più lungo e più tortuoso, che porterà i due fino alle spiagge del Golfo Persico, in una sorta di rocambolesca ricerca della verità più autentica tra due persone.

Born (1979) to high school teachers Zia and Umme-Nabi in the throes of 1979 Revolution in Rasht, Mohammad Tolouei tried different paths of arts and crafts in prime before he made up his mind in the 1990s to pursue a literary career, first as a tenacious poet and dramatist, and then as a storywriter. His debut novel Fair Wind’s Prey was published in 2007 (which brought him the Farda Awards for Best Technical Novel of the Year and was nominated for the 8th Shahid Ghanipour Awards); his first short story collection I’m Not Janette was released in 2011. Tolouei belongs to the emerging New Generation of Iranian novelists and short story writers marked by their transitive style of writing that sets free of tradition and ventures novelty in narrative and form.

[Sono una persona che rifugge il dolore. Forse ho un’indole troppo prudente, fatto sta che cerco di schivare qualsiasi cosa che possa farmi soffrire. È per questo che non ripenso al passato. Non mi fermo a chiedermi come mai ci siamo lasciati. Non mi viene neanche in mente di farlo, e se succede non formulo giudizi. Guardo il passato come se fosse la scena di un film, una scena in cui recito anch’io, ma dove sono un uomo nella pelle di un altro. Così il passato diventa più sopportabile. È il mio modo di lavarlo da ogni macchia.]

Bella scoperta questo autore, leggerlo in questo periodo storico è quasi un dovere.
