I’m beautiful, smart, and I know exactly how to get what I want.
As a legacy of the most popular sorority on campus, I was thrilled to rush with my best friend, Blair.
Then, I met Tyler. My one-night-stand who kept coming back for more. He’s charming and just so happens to be rushing the hottest fraternity on campus, Alpha Chi.
I was happy.
Until I wasn’t.
I stumbled upon something I shouldn’t have, and now I’m paying the price.
I was whisked away in the night, becoming a ghost to all who knew me.
I think it was the cover that grabbed my attention first, so as soon as it went live on AMAZON, I grabbed it, after my arc reads game over, this was the one I jumped on, and without a lie it pulled me in that very first chapter. I got swept away, and didn't look back.
Sooo the synopsis doesn’t really give much away, coffee in hand, comfy couch and I was ready, slowly making my way through the pages, liking where this was going, wrapped up within a one night stand which slowly morphed into more, enjoying the small inkling of feels that came with it, until wham bam thank you mam, it goes PITCH BLACK‼️‼️‼️
Be careful of what you wish for, because that wish could turn into your worst nightmare. Cassidy and her bestie are both pledging in a sorority as a legacy with Zeta Kappa Phi which is the same for Tyler who will be with Alpha Chi, his father and grandfather were legacies. Whilst the girls sorority seems all above board, the men's sorority is anything but..
During a sleepover at Tyler's Fraternity house she sees something she shouldn't have, plucked right out from under Tylers nose, she goes missing and becomes a ghost, making her girl number 9,003.
That darkness came at me at a warped speed!
Out of nowhere!!
Back in the day we pegged Tears of Tess and Captive in the dark, our top dark reads, to name just two, back then they were as dark as some books had gone..well let me tell you..This is much much darker..Those two are child’s play compared to this.
So be aware of that before jumping into this one..Triggers will be obliterated..
There is light at the end of a very dark tunnel at the end..So there is that..
Here’s hoping…and I have everything crossed that she burns it all to the fucking ground, and we get more!!
I tried this book back in August of last year and DNF but I said in my review (leaving down there as proof) that I was going to DNF for now but had intentions to try again since everyone says it’s very dark. And in darkness level YES it is VERY dark but guys it’s all about execution ! This book has a strong theme. Sex trafficking is a theme explored in many dark romances and when well done you have a masterpiece. Here we have Cassidy and Tyler. The book literally begins with Cassidy giving a BJ to a random bouncer at a club to get her and her friend to the secret VIP area of said club. Hey I am not slut shaming her, a girl can do whatever she wants, just saying what happened. She meets Tyler in said club and they go back to her apartment and have mind blowing sex and she kicks him out right after. Long story short is they see each other 3 more times with crazy amazing sex and he is calling her his girlfriend. There is absolutely NO emotional connection and development, not a single conversation to get to know each other or anything. We learn NOTHING about Cassidy besides the fact she wants to be part of the same sorority her mother was part of and that she loves sex. That’s all we know about her. All we learn about Tyler is how big his dick is and how good he is in sex. She half sleeps once in the Fraternity house he is part and stumbles upon a room full of dog cages with girls locked inside in all stages of distress, she tries to help them but is caught by the president of the fraternity who proceeds to rape her and she ends up orgasming because he knows what he is doing and has a big dick. He puts her in one of the cages and ships her to their sex trafficking place along with the other girls all while Tyler obliviously sleeps. She is tattooed, pierced, chipped, waxed, tortured, brutalized, sold and goes into intense sex training to “learn” to please her new master. She is raped multiple times and all the guys have big dicks. The scenes are as dark as you can imagine. Her new master gets her and he is even more sadistic than the shitheads in the “sex camp”. Her new master also knows what he is doing and has ….. YOU GUESSED, let’s all say together “ A BIG DICK” My issues here are MANY and none of them are about how dark the book is. Listing my issues here :
1- We have no time to emotionally connect to Cassidy 2- We have no time to emotionally connect to Tyler 3- They didn’t have any romance nor friendship 4- They relationship was shallow to put it nicely 5- Tyler learns about the “st” part of the fraternity immediately because it’s said to them and obviously it comes with threats and all the shenanigans, but he wasn’t as enraged as he should’ve been specially because his father was part of the fraternity and knows about it all. 6- Tyler is kind stupid because even though he is looking for “missing” Cassidy and he knows about the “st” operation in the Fraternity, he doesn’t put 2 and 2 together knowing the last place she was, was in the fraternity. 7- Her master, the guy that bought her is literally Tyler’s father 8- The master has the most cartoonish lines ever, like those cartoon villains and I was almost waiting to see that Muahahahahaha after the line. 🙄 9- Tyler is another shit for brains because it never occurred to him to ask his dad, but then when he does and his dad says he know about this side of the fraternity and tells him just to let it be and not get involved, Tyler simply believes him and is almost relieved BUT HOW CAN HE BE RELIEVED KNOWING his dad knows about literally “st” and is ok with ? 10- Tyler finds Cassidy and the whole thing is weird not well and executed and choppy 11- Their escape is too easy too fast and with this gigantic “st” organization no one is after them. 12- Cassidy barely speaks about her mom and best friends . 13- The book is rushed and choppy.
Worry not 3 months later she has no traumas left and is back performing mind blowing sex with Tyler and now they are married and live in an Island. THE END !
So NO it’s not about how dark the book is. It’s about how well the story is developed, how captivating it is, how attached you’ll be to the characters, how invested the plot will make you be. Unfortunately didn’t like this one at all
DNF FOR NOW ! I might go back to it in a future, for now I am not vibing with it. I heard it gets really dark but only after around 40 ish % ….. and I was on 30% and still not vibing and feeling like it was a little … like…. How should I say this without being offensive?????? “I thought it was a little shallow’ let’s leave it at that !

Oh yeah..I gobbled this shit up in one sitting like my life depended on it🫡
First of all- OH MY FUCKING DAMN BITCH.
Right out the gates I was hooked, fully locked in, my interest peaked and there was not a single dull moment throughout the entire book. 8% in and I was already turned on👀 This was one of the craziest, darkest, hottest, jaw dropping rides I have ever been on..and speaking of rides- there’s a mechanical bull with a dildo attached to it..(yeah- that obviously needed a shoutout) 🐂 Once you start reading this YOU CAN NOT STOP! This is for the DARK dark romance girlies and those girlies only, definitely check your triggers! But man..theres nothing I love more than a grocery list of trigger warnings😌 The pacing was absolute perfection, the attention to detail was immaculate, the smut was fucking scrumptious, and I loved the main characters so much. I was so immersed into this story I genuinely felt like I was right. there. And there’s seriously nothing better than that. 5 stars, I can’t recommend this enough! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Last but certainly not least- thank you so much Krista for allowing me the privilege of being an ARC reader. You have always been my book rec queen when it comes to the dark, smutty, and depraved shit so I KNEW going into this you were gonna knock it out of the park and you so did!! I am so incredibly proud of you babe! Congratulations on absolutely SLAYING your debut novel!!😍 You ate and left NO CRUMBS👏🏼
First off, congratulations Krista! It takes a lot of work and dedication to put a book, and you did it! So congrats on your debut novel ❤️🖤
I had to sit and process on this review. When I saw that a fellow pitch black, oblivion, to hell and back, dark romance lover was putting out her very own book? I was foaming at the mouth for it. At the same time, I was nervous that it was just going to have EVERYTHING in it. & Well, it did, and not in a good way. I feel like so much was thrown in for a wow factor.
This started off slow. There seemed to be a lot of fixation on frat houses and sororities. YES. It's called Frat Row, I know this. But there was way too much information for how little we actually seen frat stuff.
Look, I don't slut shame, but Cassidy? Quite wild to say you want to bang one man from every frat to get a badge. Can't remember if this was before or after she was sucking dick in the alley, all to get to that underground dungeon at the club. To which she spent like 5 minutes in, and 1-2 minutes was her randomly being a peeping tom and getting herself off in this unfamiliar hallway she's never been in before. Of a place that gave her bad vibes. To 5 minutes later meeting and sleeping with the MMC Tyler. The pacing was so bad. All that happening in the span of 10 minutes. & That's not even everything that happened. It was nonstop go go go after the all the fixation on the houses. & Even the ending just wrapped up in quickness. I wanna say there's no plot holes because I feel like this will turn out to be a series? But with the way the pacing was, I want to say that there are actual plot holes. We get no closure anywhere. & A HEA 3 months later.
The initiation for the frat house was strange. Everyone line up, bang this random girl tied up, but reach back and jack off the guy behind you, then she gets her throat slit, and everyone drink her blood and everyone is just okay with it???
I'm gonna fast forward. As soon as we found out about the sex trafficking? It was all gas no brakes. Immediately Cassidy is sa'd by Archer. & She has an amazing orgasm, moaning loudly. The very next morning. She's assaulted. By Rio. The sex trafficking head guard or something. Who calls her princess. Immediately gave me Cat & Mouse duet, except that Rio is amazing. This one is awful. Immediately after Rio is done with her, she sees their Dr. who wants to keep her (again Cat & Mouse duet) but can't, so he plays with her clit, eats her out, makes her squirt, and in her own words "I am so dazed from that incredible orgasm." Speaking of this doctor, there's a scene later where she tries to escape after she sees the doctor. & Let me just say that each assault that happens after? Her orgasms just keep getting better and better. Like she's damn near gonna black out from how good they are. I don't know. I don't know any SA victim that acts like this? I think this was the most disappointing aspect of the book. How she handled it all. Every other victim in this book is crying, and she's just having the best orgasms of her life. Oh, and each penis gets progressively bigger. Bigger than the MMC by the way she described them. & The way it sounded? The final predator, aka, Tyler's dad? Had the biggest of them all. & That's just wrong on so many levels. How are all the other men gonna out dick the MMC? & I really don't want to get started on Tyler's dad. I seen that coming a mile away.
If it wasn't Cat & Mouse duet, I was getting Julian (In Love With The Devil) vibes. The second day of training was straight out of his playbook. The mechanical anal dildo set up. & Imagine my surprise when I scroll pass the epilogue (something I never do) and read the acknowledgements and see a shoutout to Sky Blu.
I truly wanted to love this book, but there was just too much thrown in. I've read a lot of dark romance, taboo, horror erotic, the limit does not exist. Read a lot of good ones, bad ones, decent ones. But see, they all fit in a category or two somewhere. I don't know where to place this one. Yet. & I will say, as far as debut novels, it was a good start with a lot of potential. So that's why there's no stars and only a review. Maybe I'll figure it out and update it. Who knows.

ARC Review. First off, congratulations, Krista, on your debut novel!
I wanted to love this book, but I struggled to finish it. The first 46 percent dragged on for what felt like forever. The representation of SA victims was so poorly executed. (I know that women who are SA'd do have forced orgasms.)
Our FMC Cassidy is getting SA'd and having forced orgasms, but it is written that Cassidy is enjoying herself through a lot of it. I'm talking about head thrown back, eyes closed, and squirting. On multiple occasions after being assaulted, the FMC says, "That was the best orgasm of my life." I could not take the book seriously after that.
I've never in my life spoken with a victim of SA who has had that mindset seconds after being assaulted. In my personal opinion, this book is a slap in the face to SA victims. Erotic Horror and Dark Romance are my two favorite sub-genres in all of fiction, but this just fell flat due to the misrepresentation.
WOW - consider me hooked and BEGGING you for more!!!
Cassidy is just starting her college journey and happens to be pledging in a sorority as a legacy. She is out one night at a bar and meets Tyler who quickly becomes obsessed with her.
They start a spicy romance with several one night stands, one of those occasions Cassidy stumbles into something at the frat house Tyler is a part of… She gets kidnapped and disappears without a trace. Is Tyler in on this secret or will he be in for a shock? Read FRAT ROW to find out Cassidy’s destiny.
The spice?? Hot and Heavy! The plot twist - I DID NOT SEE COMING. I need more immediately!!!
This is a DARK romance, please check your triggers. Get ready for a wild fun time (;
Ok I took several days to sit down and process what I read. This book is marketed as pitch black and I may be the problem because it isn't the darkest book I have ever read, but with that being said, before you even think about picking up this book, you NEED to check the trigger warnings. This one has some very HEAVY topics.
When I finished this book, I truly didn't know what to say. Like I'm rarely lost for words but this one had me saying what was that? And it wasn't from a trigger stand point because I do not have triggers. The topics discussed in this book I have read a handful of times and have never had problems with it. But with this book, I had an issue with the overwhelming undertone of sexual assault and trafficking and how it was portrayed. There were times were I felt like the author was trying to glamorize this very traumatic thing that was happening to our FMC. And what really got me was the FMCs inner dialogue while she was being raped. Because YES it was non consensual. Her "trainings" which took up most of the book was rape. It was being performed by someone who was NOT the MMC. And for me, when this is happening in books, I don't find that to be panty dropping spice that makes you sweat. It does nothing for me and when the majority of the book is that, I was questioning where this book was going.
I will say this, I did love the whole concept of the plot. I loved where this one was going. I just wish her "training" wasn't the bulk of the book. I could have done without chapter after chapter of her being raped and then her inner thoughts being like "That was the best orgasm of my life." I'm sorry but what? No. And I get the guilt of the victim after the fact but she seemed to enjoy it and then she didn't. Idk like I said, I was so confused.
I also think the ending was rushed. The last chapter gave us a clue of what is to come. And I am invested to see where this is going and to see our FMC get revenge. We love a good dose of feminine rage.
Sorry if this review is all over the place. I am just conflicted how I feel about this one.
Narration Review Duet Narration by Savannah Thomas and Aaron Shedlock
I can confidently say this, the audio is phenomenal. The narrators did a fantastic job narrating this book. If I would have eyeball read this one, I would have rated the book lower than what I did. Both Savannah and Aaron really brought this story and characters to life. The narration made me forget I was reading at times and then I realized, this story is pitch black and is more definitely fiction. But yeah, A+ and all the stars for the narrators.
You should read this book if you like: - Pitch Black - College Romance - Secret Society - Greek Life - Human/Sex Trafficking plot - (HEAVY) Non Con - Kidnapping/Captive - Obsessive MMC - One Night Stand - Insta Love/Lust
I was told to give an honest review, so I begin by saying I’m very sorry, but I hated this book. There is absolutely no amount of trigger warnings that can justify portraying sexual arousal during scenes of torture—it’s deeply disturbing and inexcusable. What makes it even worse is the complete lack of character development, especially considering the sheer magnitude of trauma the main character endures. She goes through some of the most horrific experiences imaginable, and somehow, within a month, she’s back to having sex as if nothing happened? It’s not only unrealistic, it’s emotionally tone-deaf.
Tyler’s character arc is equally baffling—he abruptly drops everything in his life without hesitation, with no inner conflict or nuance. And don’t even get me started on the vomit and piss scenes… they were so grotesque and unnecessary that I walked away with new personal trigger warnings and came close to tears.
What hurts the most is that the book actually started off with potential. The premise had intrigue, and I thought I was about to read something powerful and gripping. But it quickly derailed into something I almost couldn’t bring myself to finish.

Holy freaking crap!! Listen most of my pitch black book recs come from Krista. So when she said she was writing one I knew this was going to be one of the darkest, most depraved books I ever read, and boy she did not disappoint!! If there’s a trigger warning in existence…this book likely has it.
Cassidy is excited to go off to college, pledge the same sorority her mother did. With one last hoorah before rush week she goes out to a bar with her friend where she meets Tyler.
Tyler is also pledging a fraternity, excited to be a legacy and join the fraternity his dad was part of. What was supposed to be a one night hook up leaves Tyler wanting to make Cassidy his. After a few fun times together Cassidy helps Tyler move into his fraternity and ends up staying the night. She wakes up thirsty in the middle of the night, and it truly becomes a night she’ll never forget when she stumbles upon a secret that the fraternity president is determined to make sure she’ll never be able to tell anyone.
Cassidy goes through pure torture, debased, used, and sold. The person she’s sold to may hit closer than she ever thought possible. This book had a scene that literally made me gag, and when I tell you I’ve read it all, I’ve read it all, and this one still got me good. If you’re a fan of the dark, depraved and pure disturbing this one it for you. This pitch black read does end in a HEA.
Thank you so much to Krista Turner Clark for allowing me to read this pre release in exchange for my honest review. I would absolutely never believe that this was her debut novel and I look forward to anything else her twisted little brain can come up with.
Okay 🤚 When a book starts right off with the main female lead, Cassidy, unrepentantly giving a nightclub security guard a BJ, to get access to an exclusive part of a trendy Club, The Dungeon “ you know this book is going to be one that they write all those trigger warnings about.
This one goes ALL IN !!! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Now There is smut.
( and what girlie doesn’t enjoy a good smutty novel now and then 🤭😉 )
But!
This is depravity on a WHOLE other level. 😮
It’s just page after page of…..
Oh! My! God! moments.🫣
Oh!
And by the way ☝️ If you are triggered by extreme SA, & SV, Torture….
RUN!!!
As Far Away As You Can Get !!!
But surely, you say, doesn’t this book have a plot? , a narrative??
Well.
Yes.
Strap yourself in ….( no BDSM pun intended )
It’s Rush week at a UM ( University of Miami )
And we are introduced to Cassidy and her bestie Blair.
Both are hoping to get into their Mothers Sorority, Zeta Kappa Phi
BUT!
Before that all, happens these two want to blow off some steam/ tension By heading to an exclusive Club ( see above for how they get in )
It’s everything on the inside you would expect from a debauched Seggs Club.
Lots of nudity and sexual behaviour.
Then struggling to find a bathroom Cassidy Mathew’s stumbles upon the no holds barred private rooms.
Whatever you are thinking about these rooms…
YES!
Our girl is Shook…but! …also intrigued…
And!
TURNED ON!
In case you haven’t picked up,on the vibe, Cassidy is 100% comfortable with sex and pleasure. She lives for the big “O”
She grabs Blair and, after retrieving their phones, heads back to the original club where both partake in some raunchy dance moves on the dance floor.
This is where Tyler Chase sees Cassidy for the first time, and he likes what he sees. Dancing with her and whispering sexy, dirty words in her ear.
Before you know it Cassidy and Tyler, plus Blair with her guy, end up at the girls house for a night full of hot seggs.
However as gorgeous as Tyler is, Cassidy ain’t ready for anything other than one night of pleasure as,…You know… It’s the start of rush week, and she needs her head in the game.
Tyler, on the other hand is not ready to give up on Cassidy or her “ treat ‘em mean, keep ‘em keen “ attitude.
Things however, take a decidedly, dark academia turn though, especially for Tyler, during rush, when he is subjected to some depraved “frat brotherly” behaviour during Initiation at Alpha Chi.
Yeah.
He try’s to look at it as a “Boys will be Boys “ 🤷🏻♀️ type thing.
After all, he’s a legacy! his dad went here.
Then. Just when he thinks this is about as bad as it gets, Alpha Chi president, Archer informs him how the fraternity makes its money ( illegally )and how this secret has benefited past pledges and their family’s with riches and influence.
But most shocking of all is the TYPE of illegal activity they all partake in. ( the human trafficking kind )
Once again Tyler is prepare to look the other way for the sake of his life ( yes there is retribution for those who talk also ) and schooling and dream to become a doctor take precedence for him. He wants to be just like his dear old doctor Dad,
Things, however, get complicated one night when Cassidy is sleeping over and mistakenly uncovers the dirty business going on in the basement, and the involvement of the upper, and now newer, lower, class men.
After this, it’s just page after page of trigger warning depravity, as Cassidy finds herself, kidnapped, and assaulted, over and over again at a secret warehouse
Think your worst!!! And she and her fellow female captives suffer it.
Eventually, she is sold as a seggs slave, to the highest bidder, but not before every man that crosses her path, while in captivity abuses her
Yeah.
This is a tough read.
It will make you ANGRY!!!
So, SO ANGRY!!!
And after all of THAT!
The author manages to manoeuvre the storyline to a ridiculous conclusion, to provide us with a HEA ? ( I kid you not )
The circumstances surrounding Cassidy’s discovery, and eventual escape, were really stretching the realms of believability.
Tyler just happened to have a thing for boat engine noise?
Finding it calming?
Allowing him to make a lifesaving discovery on Daddy’s Yacht…
Really ???
Then, seemingly oblivious to the pain, suffering SHOCK and torment Cassidy has witnessed, and endured at the hands of his fraternity brothers Tyler’s all like…
“I could never begin to comprehend the horrors you have gone through. All I can do is be there for you as you heal and be a shoulder to lean on. I care about you deeply, and I see a wonderful future in front of us.”
Remember. This was the guy who was going to turn a blind eye to what was going on, with the other girls, until he discovered HIS GIRLFRIEND IS MISSING !!!
Plus! he says this after dear old Dad had just spent 48 hours cutting, f**cking and abusing her.
But, hey, yeah! you hold out for that “ wonderful future together”
Ultimately. If you stay long enough, you DO get rewarded with a spicy, steamy, 3 months later , HEA.
But, just like Tyler’s discovery of Cassidy, it was so fake, and so cringe.
Overall, not a comfortable read, but SUE ME! I wanted to know if Cassidy escaped / survived, 🤷🏻♀️
Went back, and kicked some Alpha Chi a** 🤷🏻♀️
( she didn’t/ hasn’t but maybe she will… One day…When She and Tyler can stop screwing 🤷🏻♀️

No. Just… no. Did I read the same book as everyone else??? Because this was painful. Tyler and Cassidy both gave me the absolute ick. His “pick-up lines” were embarrassing, and she was trying so hard while contradicting herself every other page. Like… she literally blew a guy to get into a club but then swears she’s “not slutty” and that her best friend is?? Girl, if you want to blow your way through the entire U.S., go for it! I’ll support you but at least own it. And Tyler. My god. I was barely 20% in when he drops: “What’s your name? I want to know the name of the girl I’m fcking tonight.”* Wow. Groundbreaking. 🙄 haven’t heard that line since I was 17. Now, about the trauma plot… I live for dark reads. And yes, this was messed up, but if you found this dark? this was foreplay compared to other books I’ve read. My issue wasn’t the content. it was how poorly it was written. The pacing was chaotic, the storyline was everywhere, and nothing truly hit the way it was supposed to. Save yourself the time. Seriously.
I knew going into this it was going to be insane. With the amount of pitch black my girl Krista reads I knew she was going to absolutely slay this! This was my first pitch black novel and biiiiiiiitch what an absolute fucking ride it was!! This was incredibly dark but yet addicting and I couldn’t put it down. There were moments where I did have to put the book down for a second and say “wtf” and “this poor girl”. The waaaay I need a second book on my girl Cassidy getting revenge on all these mother fuckers omgggg!!! I’m so happy this book was my first pitch black novel. I kinda want more!
OMG I could not put this down!! I Love Tyler and Cassidy is a BAD ASS BITCH! How she could endure all of that and still go on? That was some dark shit Krista BRAVO!👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Can we please get a revenge book?!! I want to see thoe MFr’s suffer Archer, Rio, Martin the whole dam Fraternity! So freaking good!!! So proud and honored I got to read this ARC 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Okay. Spoiler alert. So I knew from several posts and people who'd read it that this was about a college girl who stumbled upon something bad which led her to get picked up by a human trafficking ring. I knew that a FRAT house was running the ring. Okay? That's all I knew.
So when I opened the book on the first three chapters, said girl is already too curious for her own good and getting into bad situations. I thought that she was going to get picked up on chapter 2 but instead, Ms Krista Turner Clark strung me along.
The smex between Tyler and her was chef's kiss. I liked that she wasn't one of these "Oh I dont really like smex" kinda girls. No, she was like I love it, I use it, who gives a flying fck.
That's refreshing and oh so real.
So with a lot of books I'm usually coming up with plots and twists as I go along and with this one I predicted a twist but it didn't mean I was bored, it meant Ms. Krista hit it out of the MF PARK! Because a lot of writers wouldn't go that far. Like YES! Take it all the way over there!
Honestly cannot wait to read how they take their revenge. I hope to read more of her struggling with what she was put through.

ARC REVIEW: Omg. This book went from super hot and spicy fraternity/sorority romance to an unhinged pitch black plot! I couldn’t stop reading this book once I started..it just kept getting crazier and crazier and I had to know what was going to happen 🫣😩 just make sure you check the trigger warnings before reading!
I’m beyond grateful to have received an ARC of Frat Row, and let me tell you this book wrecked me in the best and worst ways. If it’s even hovering near your TBR, shove everything else aside and dive in. But don’t even think about flipping that first page without checking the trigger warnings.
This isn’t just dark it’s inky, twisted, and brutal. It’s the kind of story that crawls under your skin and refuses to let go. and it deeply unsettling at times ,I’ve been reading dark romance since 2013, and Frat Row is hands down the darkest book I’ve ever read.
What the FMC endures was Unthinkable. I had to stop reading more than once just to catch my breath and untangle my emotions. It pushed me to my limits, and I loved every second of it.
Despite how heavy and brutal the story gets, the writing style was unexpectedly smooth and enjoyable Krista knows how to guide you through the storm with a steady, confident hand.
Frat Row isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you crave chaos, emotional destruction, and the kind of darkness that leaves you gasping this book belongs to you.
4.5 This book was so bingeable! I love anything in a college setting and adding Greek life to that is just the cherry on top . The plot kept me on my toes the whole time, and I never knew who was actually good or bad. I’m counting down the days until the next Krista Clark book. I wish that we got a little more time with the characters all together, because their interactions were some of my favorite parts. And it goes without saying CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS. This book is dark! BUT it Krista did an amazing job for balancing the darkness with a good plot. This was a great debut dark romance.
OMG y’all, this book grabbed my attention since the beginning. The twist and turns this book takes you. I loved this book and I read it every time I could.
I was so damn happy when I was chosen to received an ARC ebook of it. I so recommend y’all to read it. You will not be disappointed.
Trista thank you so much and I was a pleasure being able to read your book. I truly enjoyed it. 🥰
Definitely check your triggers. Such a messed up story (with a HEA).
It did feel like a lot of the story was written purely to be shocking/disturbing, not that there’s anything inherently wrong with that. It just didn’t mesh with everything else the way I hoped it would.
I received an early copy and this is my honest review.
ARC Review: First of all, congratulations, Krista, on your debut book! And thank you so very much for the ARC! This is my very first ARC read and it is an honour! 🖤 Wow! Just. Wow! That was dark! Check your trigger warnings, everyone!! I absolutely devoured the dark scenes! I know everyone is already talking about the bull scene, but I simply must mention it too, DAMN!! My thoughts on this book are all over the place! I loved Cassidy! She's an incredibly strong and badass character! She went through a lot! I did enjoy that 'a lot' very much, but it was still A lot! 🤣 Tyler was such a sweetheart, go Tyler, go!! 🖤 The begging was a bit slow for me, but that wasn't the case for long and once all hell broke loose it was a wild ride!! I really hope there is a second book!! This book was incredible! Incredibly dark, incredibly deprived and incredibly twisted!! An amazing debut! It was dark, creative and disturbing in all the best ways! It's a dream read for every pitch black reader and I definitely recommend it and then some!! I'm looking forward to reading more books from Krista!!🖤🖤🖤
Thank you Krista Turner Clark for providing this e-ARC. All opinions are my own.
Ok, wow I don’t even know where to begin. I would not classify this as your typical romance book. It’s more horror/thriller than romance at all, which was on me as I should’ve looked into more. Also PLEASE check triggers! This book goes into detail about abuse and even as a reader of dark romance, it was quite graphic. (ETA: The book was described initially as a “PITCH BLACK HORROR NOVEL”, so I obviously forgot this and miscalculated)
The first 30% of the book was descriptive about frat and sorority culture and I was eagerly waiting for something to happen. I didn’t connect with the characters too much either. The author kept giving small clues alluding to something bad about to happen and boy when it did, it’s unlike anything you’ve ever read.
Once the shoe did drop, it felt like the writing was just trying to see how far it could be taken (which was far). The story didn’t seem to have a direction or anything it was moving towards to. It just happened to for the sake of it. It dragged on a bit.
When the twist finally came, I at the last minute did guess it, but still it was such a shock! I’m in awe of this plot twist and have to give props for this creativity. Your jaw will be on the floor and you will be rooting for Cassidy until the very end.
Overall this book did at times feel slow and prolonged, but once the story picks up it will leave you absolutely surprised. Note triggers and I would say this is a HFN.
If you are an erotic horror fan, this will be right up your ally. I went easy on my review because I knew 100% that this author loves pitch black books and this one absolutely reflects that passion, which I genuinely respect.
The title and cover hooked me right away, and even the beginning had me intrigued. But once the trafficking trope came into play, I was instantly annoyed. It’s not a trigger for me, just…boring.
What also threw me off was how Cassidy seemed completely fine with having sex right after being rescued from being trafficked…it just didn’t feel realistic or emotionally aligned with what she’d gone through.
That said, the writing itself is strong and the character development is great. The ending will lead you straight to a cliff, where you’ll have to wait for the next book.

Book Cover ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Would I recommend this book to you? Yes
Fantastic debut for Krista. I was blessed to be an ARC reader and this did not disappoint. It felt like if Haunting Adeline and The ritual had a baby and made it darker and nastier. If I could change one thing, it would be to make it duet as I felt like the ending was abrupt and the story had great bones to extend into a second novel. I absolutely cannot wait to see what come next from Krista, she’s set the bar very high for herself.
3⭐️ i got this book as an E-Arc review and im very thankful for that. i really like Kristas personality and her tiktok page and so i was very excited to read it
the story itself was interesting and i would like to see it continue so it left me with lots of questions. i feel like the initial set up of the story took a bit too long compared to the overall length of the book. Tyler was cute and i liked him as a character although im not the biggest fan of insta love, which sure happened here. the descriptions of the torture the FMC endured were great and what i expected of Krista for sure. i really really really really really wanted her to get revenge on Martin, and the whole Frat Row involved, especially Archer. i also want Blair to be safe and reunited with her bff. just like in most of these books i’m always kinda blown away by the lack of engagement from law enforcement and the parents and overall all the “adults” who wouldn’t just someone disappear like this. or so i’d hope i suppose
additionally, and although i understand she desperately needed to save herself, what happened to the girl willing to save all the other women involved in this tragedy??? she just decided to live her new life and let them all suffer the evil she escaped?
i’m not sure this book will have a part 2, but id love some closure for sure!
can’t wait to read more from Krista in the future 😊

First, congratulations to Krista for her debut novel! It takes a lot of dedication and hard work to complete a book.
I was excited to read this book, I came across the author’s TikTok a while ago and when she announced she is releasing her first book, I was eager to support.
My honest review 😞 I’m sorry!!
The book is pitch black and I feel like everything dark, taboo, and disgusting was thrown into the story for the wow factor. Just so it could be considered pitch black. But the story had so many plot holes, and the pacing was insane. Everything was happening so fast! I felt like I was skipping past so much information that should’ve been in the story.
The FMC and MMC lacked character development. And I got the ick from Tyler from the first time we meet him. “Red v neck, tight jeans, and white Jordans.” I understand they are freshmen entering university but they felt so juvenile. And maybe, university student tropes just aren’t for me!
Tyler and Cassidy are very unrealistic characters and I think that made it hard for me to connect with the book.
Cassidy went through hell and we get no follow up on her healing journey? No phoenix rising from the ashes moment? It just skips to 3 months later and she’s totally fine, happy with Tyler?
The beginning of the book had me intrigued, but completely fell apart for me.
This is dark and depraved and if you’re not sure what pitch black is please check your trigger warnings they are there for a reason…
That being said: I devoured this in 24 hours! I love the way Krista had you falling for the main characters before things ramped up allowing you to feel for them more I think. Cassidy maintaining her spirit had me turning pages and rooting for her left and right. I absolutely loved how she kept some of that fire from start to finish.
Tyler my sweet baby child born into a world of corruption but remained with his humanity in tact ✨. We love a man who can recognize abuse of power without wanting that power for himself✨.
This was everything I wanted it to be. Did it gross me out at moments? Yes. Did I have to take a breather? Also, Yes. But thats what makes me love reading these pitch black books and this one is sooo good!
Please read responsibly and check those warnings but this was a good time.
