Molly Maddison #2

Legends of the Crypt

Rate this book
I’ve never been your average girl, seeing the dead has always been a way of life for me. I’d made peace with it, for the most part anyway and tried to lead a normal life as possible. I went away to school, with intentions to make a difference in the world. All that changed one day when my dad died and I got dragged into a world of deadly creatures and ancient legends….

Molly Maddison soon finds out that nothing and no one is what they seem and it is serious grow up time. In her fight to stay alive and make things right, Molly must find the spear of legends—a weapon spelled into hiding centuries ago by a Crypt Keeper, the only weapon that will send the inhabitants of hell to a final death. Molly is torn between two deadly immortals: Levi, an entity as irresistible as he is dangerous, and Damon Night, her Guardian and sworn protector.

For centuries the Crypt Keepers of the living dimension have kept the gates of hell sealed. Now that the creatures are leaking through the cracks, Molly is the only one that stands a chance of saving the universe from utter destruction.

"Some people are worth damning the universe for."

I had read Molly Maddison's first book a few months ago and even though I was hesitant because of the specific paranormal aspect (ghosts), it turned out to be a really interesting story. With so many twists and turns that you can call it unexpected. I appreciate unpredictable books and this series is definitely one.

She's a very important being and she has tried to figure out who wants to protect her and who wants to harm her. She's suspicious of everyone, including the other Crypt Keepers she meets. She's also missing her old friend and lover, Levi, who after the revelations in the end of book 1, he seems to keep his distance from Molly. Plenty of adventure, suspense, questions and sexy chemistry between our heroine and two guys who want to protect her and keep her safe, although she cares more about people around her.

Feeling incredibly alone, I was torn between my developing feeling for Damon and the love I had for Levi.

I cant recommend it enough to people who enjoy PNR. I was pleasantly surprised and I can't help but love this author's writing and I'm looking forward to the next parts of the series. The only reason that kept me from giving this a 5 is because of the love triangle that's going on. Usually, I don't have an issue, but since I was team Levi since book1, I just didn't expect how uncomfortable her connection with Damon would make me feel. Plus I have to admit that I like Damon and feel for him, so that makes me feel worse, but I'm still rooting for my bad guy.

Ok first off... AMAZING FREAKING BOOK!!! It can be read as a standalone, but its even better when you start from book 1. There is a bit of a cliffhanger ending too... just a heads up.

This book is one of those that just grabs you and does not let you go. Not even when you're finished. You end up wanting sooo much more. I literally lost sleep reading this book (no regrets here though). I love the fact that the main character is such a feisty, strong woman who pretty much does what she wants. She had a goal and she fully intended to stick to it, but her life had other ideas.
The friendship she shares with her best friend Jewels is a very strange one, but it makes for a great story. Some parts literally had me laughing out loud at all hours of the night (my neighbors probably don't like me very much now...) The relationship between her and her boyfriend, Levi, was even stranger, especially when his identity is revealed. And then there's Damon... Man... I wanted him FOR her (whew!!) I didn't know who to root for.
I don't want to spoil the book for anyone, so let me just say that you would not regret reading this one. Its filled with action (both in and out of bed), humor (I love Mags), and suspense. There's literally never a dull moment. The creatures are a bit Lovecraftian (I had a little trouble imagining them...), but that just adds to the whole flavor of the story.
Awesome read from start to finish!

*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review*

I've been waiting for this sequel to be released so badly because I enjoyed Crypt Keeper so much! I love the character Molly Madison like crazy. She's so likeable and determined. I think she's funny but strong. I find myself rooting for her throughout the entire story. There's a sexy little love triangle too! Team Damon, here! There's so much going on then.... Bam! Something totally unexpected! Molly is finding out things aren't what they seem to be...which unfortunately for us "normal folks" we don't have a clue since we can't see/hear the things Molly does. So, when all hell kinda breaks loose, it's up to Molly to find the spear of legends to save everyone. This was perfect sequel to book one. The two books together have made me a HUGE K.A. Young fan! A must read!

Excellent second book!

The world keeps getting more twisted with Molly. Demons and a lover who is actually Death? Molly is growing, both in power and maturity....Will it be enough to save the world?

I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)

I hadn't yet read the previous book when I started this, about twenty pages in, I decided I better fix that. Once I did, I went back to this book. I enjoyed the read but managed to stay in a near constant state of confusion. Two areas confused me, the semi-random sexual moments and Molly. This confusion was not over the book, plot, or direction, but the treatment of the main character, Molly. Molly is everywhere emotionally, some of it merited but some of the mood swings seem... uncalled for. Or maybe just unneccessary. Jewels/Sorrow, she's a fairly solid character that also undergoes a bit of a change that leaves me feeling oddly about her but not to the degree of confusion I experienced with Molly. The action is fairly good, world building is done well, and overall, the character development (regardless of it's pace) is very well handled. This leads me to the second point of confusion regarding character development and interaction, the random sexual tension moments. I won't call them scenes, they were rarely that.. just the idea of "Oh I want to make a point.. let me pin her against a wall." The first time, ok.. but there were some points in the book where I just thought to myself "Why now....? This seems kind of out of place." And I found myself re-reading just to make sure I did not skip a page or two. Do not get me wrong, I LOVE that sort of thing, I truly do... but this might be the first (or second) instance where it began to really puzzle me. Despite that, it's not neccessarily a deal breaker, just kind of struck me a bit odd, personally. I adore Levi/Death, Damon is growing on me and I really like the turn Molly is making, so all in all, not a bad read.

Mixed feelings about this book. I don't really know why, for me it seemed like the excitement and need to carry on reading, just wasn't there as much as it was in the first book. As well as this i felt like the story was to rushed, alot of major detail seemed like it was missed out. And is it just me or is there a chapter missing that links the end of book 1 to the beginning of book 2?

Characters:

Molly? Did you seriously get more slutty? Wow im impressed that is a major role reversal she's now feisty and more slutty. Honestly girl just choose already Levi or Damon, it really cannot be that difficult. One is destined; one is not, the end. So Molly, stop fussing. All you're doing is leading Damon on, the guy LOVES you, does Levi really care that much to cause you pain? because thats what is going to happen.

Jewels, i dont even know whats going on with you. Depression or what?? And Levi please leave Molly alone, you unintentionally put her in danger, simply by existing. Damon, how about you move on Molly is clearly NOT interested she's a player, and likes how you make her feel...

In my opinion this book falls behind three stars, its not as good as the first one and is written confusing and i constantly feel like I'm missing information.

Legends of the Crypt starts right where the Crypt Keeper ended. Maybe a page or two from where it ended. Which is great for those who have been waiting for Legends of the Crypt. For those who are going from the first book to the second right away, you get to read a couple pages over again. You find out exactly who Levi is.... (Cue Dramatic Music).

Then you have your basic Molly, always demanding trust and never giving it to Damon. ( I am Team Damon right now) Actually there is loads of tension between those two in this book, more so than last. Just thinking about right now has me doing a little dance in my chair.

With all that, Molly has other P.I.T.A. People to deal with. That poor girl can't catch a break. There were moments I might of thought about throwing a fit or two. Other moments I was laughing or biting my nails. OMGOODNESS there was even a WTF moment for me. Loads of moments for me LOL.

Legends of the Crypt should get a higher mark than 5 stars. Though I have yet to figure out how to do that. It has everything I could want, New characters, Plot twist with existing characters. The fluid writing made this another great Adventure and Vacation for my Mind.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the Lovers of Paranormal group on Goodreads. After reading the first book, The Crypt Keeper, I was excited to read book 2, and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint. Legends of the Crypt picks up exactly where book 1 left off with no gap in the storyline like a lot of sequels. The story is fast paced and an easy read. My only problem was that it wasn't long enough!

KA Young knows how to entertain her readers and leave them wanting more with suspense, romance, and plot twists throughout the story. Her character development is fantastic. I felt immediately connected to each major character, and their histories are unfolded in a timely fashion through the series; they didn't feel rushed or dragged out. I actually felt tied to the emotions of Molly, Damon, Jewels, and Levi. Minor characters are introduced and serve their purpose without being forgotten or left hanging. I would have liked a bit more about Aunt Constance, but I'm hoping her character will be explained further as the series continues. There were a few minor typos in my copy, but not enough to detract from the story. I cannot wait for book 3!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal)

Whoaaaa! What what what? Why did you do that to me? You just can't leave it at that! I want more! Oh, please I want a lot more!
The story was good and never dull. Kept me interested until the end and I couldn't stop reading.
One thing I was disappointed about: There wasn't a lot of Levi and Molly. Well, there could never be enough of them. I want them together. And even though I kinda started to like Damon just a little, and I admit he could be kinda hot, he was mostly annoying. And I'm still teaming for Levi. Under Levi's hard surface there's a lot of caring for Molly, and a hot passion. And they have a beautiful connection.
I'm so curious to see what will happen next! I have so many questions, doubts, worries, and made-up scenarios in my head about this story. About what/who Molly is and what she's destined to do. What's Death/Levi 's role in her future and choices? What's Damon's role in her decisions and future?

Legends of the Crypt ( The Molly Maddison Series #2) by K.A. Young

I received this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review through the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com
I absolutely loved the Crypt Keeper, and I have been waiting for this book to come out. It definitely did not disappoint and I thought that it was absolutely fantastic. This book takes off from where the first book ended. Molly is up to all of her old antics. The love triangle continues between Molly, Levi and Damon ( I was rooting for Levi in the last book, but now I have jumped ship and I am buying the Team Damon t-shirt ). In this book, all hell breaks loose and Molly is left to save the day by finding the Spear of Legends. The plot is well thought out, the writing flows well and I love it. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.

Truth be told, I actually liked Molly. I just disliked the fact about what was revealed about some Legend that was foretold regarding Molly.

There were some pretty interesting characters that were added and some other secrets that were revealed as well but I won't spoil them.

Molly's character was okay for the most. She's strong and feisty. I'm only disappointed about a freaking love triangle being involved and what it meant for Molly. One shouldn't be fore her while the other is perfect for her. I felt that her feelings on the other was being forced just to have a bit more edge to the story. I also kind of felt her character was bordering on slutty. That was my only negative part.

All I can say is despite how unconventional the relationship between Levi and Molly, I'm rooting for them.

Well Ms. Young, you have me hooked on the characters and I now need to know what happens next. It was the perfect spot in the story to end the book. Although, very frustrating because I now have to wait for the next one to come out. What can I say about Levi………I just have the feeling he is bad news all around. I really want Molly to like Damon. What is wrong with Molly? Why do girls always believe the bad guys? Damon has done everything right, but nooooo....Molly has to be pissed at everything he does. Frustrating! Anyway, my rant is over and I am still looking forward to the next installment.

Wow and really. Can I be a crypt keeper and my own Damon? I am in love with this series . I absolutely can't wait for the next book especially considering how this one just ended. Jewels identity shocked me but I like it. I will say I wish Molly would women up she is a little whinny for a 24 year old. All I have to say is when will the next book be out.

This book differs from the first in that our heroine becomes totally childish, arrogant, and full of herself all at the same time. In spite of her I kept reading for the compelling story. I love Jewels and found her history and Levi's interesting. They and the story made this worthwhile. I root for the death of the heroine but know it can't happen. Let's hope the author lightens her up for the final book.

These books are quick reads but I find that they feel more like chapters or parts of a bigger book than a self-contained book. The abrupt endings feel more like the writer simply said ok this is a point where I can quit and ship this and we'll pick up right here next time. Would I like to know how the story ends? Yes. Will I continue to pay for short installments in the series? I am not sure I am that engaged in the story.

I enjoyed every minute of it! It will definitely kept you on your toes. I love Molly and Levi together more then ever. Yeah I know Levi beats out her protector any day. At least with me. I don't know why but Levi is one of my favorite characters besides Molly. I definitely loved it and will suffer withdrawals till the next one comes out.
