Lethal Lies: Whispers of Deceit

Rate this book
All families have secrets - some more than others. Sometimes it can take a generation or more for them to surface into the light of day. On occasion, however, they stay buried forever. At the very least, secrets shroud embarrassment or shame, but then there are those things that are much darker and nefarious. And so it is with both the Eastford and Sinclair families. Brock Eastford is a reticent clairvoyant who gets more than he ever bargained for in this life as he is juggling his present problems with those of his family's past. This is further complicated by his chance entanglement in the serious issues of another family. It is the journey of a young man who comes of age in the late 1960s at warp speed contending with obstacles in his path at every turn.

Great Book!

I'll be honest with you, this book is mainly a mystery, but the truth is that it does a great job of exploring generational trauma. And while you'll definitely find an excellent story here, what I didn't expect to find was such a deep and interesting reflection on family relationships.

This is one of those books that seems predictable but isn't, as it begins with a family mystery and ends up making you experience various feelings, emotions, and thousands of thoughts and reflections as it progresses. What I liked is how it mixes the supernatural with family conflicts, without becoming fantastical, but rather profound and emotional.

This is the kind of book I like to read the most, a book that has a mysterious atmosphere but also makes you think and keeps you attentive to everything that happens because everything can change in a second. Highly recommended!

I didn't expect to connect with this novel so much.

To be honest, this book surprised me much more than I expected. I thought it would be a slow-paced story, but it ended up hooking me because I was always eager to find out what would happen next. What I enjoyed most was the atmosphere of mystery and the way everything gradually starts to make sense. I also found the characters interesting, since none of them are perfect, which makes them feel more real. It’s a book that kept me thinking long after I finished it. If you like stories with secrets, drama, and unexpected twists, I think this book is definitely worth reading. More than the story itself, what really drew me in was the way the author builds up the emotions and the weight of each character’s decisions. The story unfolds at a leisurely pace, but it never loses its appeal because it always leaves you with the feeling that something important is about to be revealed.

Loved this book!

Lethal Lies: Whispers of Deceit by Church is an exciting psychological thriller that examines the ominous outcomes of manipulation and betrayal. The character's lives are examined in a world of secrets, in which each new truth discovered will lead to an even larger lie. Church builds upon a propelling pace that analyzes emotional levels and builds suspenseful tension, leaving readers at the edge of their seat wanting to know what happens next.
What I found intriguing about this book is its exploration of moral ambiguity, and how lies, even good lies can lead into a fatal danger. The writing is crisp, atmospheric, suspenseful, and explores human sensitivity at the same time. The story is riveting, but insightful, and uniquely sets Lethal Lies: Whispers of Deceit apart for its enthralling story about trust, survival, and what it costs to know the truth.

A compelling story
I wanted to read a novel that revolves around family and I came across “Lethal lies” by J.T. Church. It precisely revolves around the problem that the majority of families have which are lies and secrets. Sometimes, those lies come from generations before and the ones who are alive must deal with the burden of them or with what remains. Brock Eastford is the one who must deal with the secrets of his family, try to heal some wounds and keep on with his life.
What I liked about this novel is that it touches themes of shame, anger, forgiveness and resilience. It's an engaging story that might leave readers with something to think about because it’s common to have these kinds of problems in families. In short, I liked it and I recommend it.

This novel is about secrets, the kind that can lie buried for generations, only to eventually come bubbling to the surface, where they can cause chaos. It concerns two families, Sinclair and Eastford. Brock Eastford, who has clairvoyant abilities, sets a chain of events in motion. Soon, passions are running high, and several family members must confront painful and even devastating truths.

The pace starts relatively slowly, but then the intensity builds as the novel progresses. Brock is a compelling protagonist who must grapple with a dubious gift that he would prefer not to have. This is a fine addition to the psychological thriller genre that features many atmospheric touches, signaling the work of a nimble and capable literary mind.

I have always believed that family problems can end up affecting people who had nothing to do with them. I liked how the dates and past events helped me see when the damage began and how it continued for years. They also made it easier to understand why certain things were still affecting the characters in the present. Family decisions do not always stay with the people who made them. Sometimes another person has to face the consequences much later, without knowing the full truth or having any chance to prepare. That was the part of the story that interested me the most. The book made me pay attention to how long a secret can remain hidden and how much harm it can still cause once it finally comes out.

this is a book well worth reading.

I really liked this book. It's an incredible mystery. At the beginning of the book, we're presented with a nearly solved mystery. I say nearly solved because when we think it's solved, it's not. From one moment to the next, we begin to discover that the mystery is much deeper and involves much deeper themes, such as drugs and the mind of a teenager who is dealing with problems in a bad way. This book kept me very entertained from beginning to end. Also, I think the character development is very good, and on each page, you can see how their thoughts change. Without a doubt, this is a book well worth reading.

This book was fantastic! The storyline is simple and immediately captivates your interest. It's hard to stop reading it since it flows so naturally.
It combines mystery, family drama, and a hint of the paranormal with a setting of the late 1960s, which the author captures wonderfully.
Brock Eastford's got secrets to uncover about his family and the Sinclairs, and it's like you're right there with him, breath held tight. It's gripping, got this perfect mix that keeps you wanting more till the end.
I'd totally recommend it. It also makes you think about how the past can shape generations. Honestly, it’s an emotional ride you don’t want to miss!

What happens when the secret that your family has affects your life and changes it forever? That is the story of Brock Eastford and his dysfunctional family in ''Lethal Lies''. I have to advise that this novel contains high levels of sex and drugs, that maybe can be strong for some people. But despite that, the novel has an intense twist plot with mystery, tension, and dark secrets that will involve you from the beginning. If you do not bother with this kind of fiction novel, you will enjoy reading this book. It is definitely intriguing, and unmasks hidden realities, also explores taboos and power dynamics inside the family. This novel creates intense emotional tension. I recommend it.

I expected this to be a coming-of-age story with some supernatural elements, but was surprised to find that the story spends a lot of time on sordid affairs. Lethal Lies by J.T. Church is a story about digging up the skeletons of the past and coming to terms with trauma. However, I felt like the story dwelled more on sensationalism than on furthering the plot or building intrigue. I also feel like the novel could really do with another round of editing to tighten the storyline and improve the plot. In all, this book did not live up to my expectations and I am giving it three out of five stars.

First of all, I have to say that I truly enjoyed this book. Although it tackles a common theme (family secrets) the author puts a unique spin on it, and I was pleasantly surprised.
The storytelling is gripping, and the suspense builds from the very first chapter. Personally, I felt that there could have been a bit more dialogue between the characters, and the ending struck me as a little forced; however, I devoured the pages because I feel that the other elements I look for in a story are more than well executed.
Also, this book prompts the reader to reflect on the power of secrets and lies and how they can change a life forever.

Lethal Lies is a mystery thriller about two families bound together by lies and secrets. A member of one of the families is a reserved clairvoyant who gets more than he bargained for in this life while juggling his current problems and those of his family.
The character and scene descriptions are excellent, and the plot is very well developed. The twists and turns that occur throughout the reading make the reader unable to move from his or her chair.
In a near future, I hope to read more books by this author and be surprised by new characters and plots.

This is a haunting, layered story that blends family drama, mystery, and the supernatural in a way that keeps you guessing until the final page.
I really enjoyed how the author explores guilt, inherited trauma, and moral conflict with sensitivity, while the supernatural element adds an eerie but meaningful layer.
All in all, this is a book I would recommend.
