Rate this book
Freedom came with a price—now the past demands payment.

Jake swore that he would never take Tobias back to Freak Camp. But as they chase the secrets of Tobias's past, the truth leads them back to the prison where it all began.

When a nationwide scandal erupts, shaking the very foundation of the Agency of Supernatural Control's iron grip, Tobias and Jake find themselves with unexpected allies—and a chance for revenge. But the price of justice may cost them everything they've worked so hard to win.

In a world where your identity is determined by those in power, Tobias and Jake must Are you what they call you, or who you choose to be? Their love survived Freak Camp's walls, but some demons are harder to escape than others.

FIRE is the fifth book in the A MONSTER BY ANY OTHER NAMES series, an m/m paranormal romance. Readers are recommended to start with either book 1, FREAK CAMP, or book 2, FEAR. Please take note that FIRE includes references to past sexual and physical abuse, torture, and neglect of children. This series is the slowest of burns, but each book comes with a happy for now / happily ever after.

Okay I throughly love this series, it was a bumpy ride for sure. This book nicely wrapped up the story but there were just a few things that irked me a bit. Some scenes kinda dragged on for too long and the time jumps were all over the place at one point. And the whole end scene, I understand why it happened but it was still kinda cliche. Other than that, I was happy with this conclusion of Jake and Tobias's story arc and hope to see more works in 2027!

Absolutely amazing from the first book until now

This series has been absolutely amazing, Jake and Toby have had such an uphill battle to get to where they are and it's clear they will continue to grow together. I can't say enough good things about this series, it has made me cry so many times.

I will absolutely be getting the paperbacks!

Well worth the wait!

I've loved the series since book 1, every one was read voraciously! The MCs are colorful, lively, and downright liveable. Cocky Jake, and timid/not quite broken Tobias...they work their way into your heart. I've enjoyed seeing them grow with each book.

Fire was exceptional bringing it all to an end with a big what next in your mind. The secondary characters shine as well in Fire, and while a few parts were slow to me, I couldn't put down my Kindle until my eyes grew tired from reading ( well that and my new shift at work causing havoc to my sleep pattern). I still s would like to see what happens in a few years for that two as well as Roger, Alice and even scary Kayla.

To the authors a big thank you to one of the free s series I've read that keep you REALLY vested in a make believe world that you can visitors all around you. At first I thought it was a bit of a nod to a certain TV show with gay characters, and maybe it was, however it has a life of it's own and it grew into a fine story worthy of a mini series .. Granted it would be on like Prime.. But I wouldn't complain... I'd watch!

Tell me why I'm crying after just the first chapter!

I'm so glad this book was finally released. It was a fantastic ending to the series. Overall it felt a bit rushed compared to the other books in the series but it was still a satisfying ending, if not a bit of a violent one. I'm a bit surprised they didn't just go public with everything and have the place shut down but hey whatever gets the job done lmao

1-5 Monster by Any Other Name

It was challenging with all the abuse yet they are wonderful books! It would be great to have a couple of continuation books with some happier times for Jake and Toby

While not perfect, I loved this final installment as someone who has been along since book one. So many things get wrapped up!

I really enjoyed the series although I think three books would have been enough, it often dragged. But overall I am glad I read it, and plan to read more from the series in 2027.

Nicely wrapped up the story. But is it basically confirmed that Toby is a human? I feel like they moved on from that pretty quickly… Like, that kind of information could’ve definitely been used.
