Reading *Taino Mythology* felt deeply personal to me. As a Boricua slowly trying to rebuild and reconnect with my heritage, this book came into my life at the right time. I have been searching for small pieces of my history, little summaries and stories about the Taínos, trying to gather what was almost lost and bring it back into my heart.
For so long, so much of our history was silenced or erased. Picking up this book felt like opening a small door back to my ancestors. Learning about the zemís, the creation stories, and the beliefs of our people stirred something emotional in me. It was not just information on a page. It felt like remembrance.
This book is approachable and easy to follow, which made it comforting as someone who is still relearning. It does not feel overwhelming. Instead, it feels like an invitation. An invitation to keep digging, to keep learning, and to honor the resilience of our people.
As I slowly reclaim my identity and my history as a Boricua, books like this matter. They may seem small to some, but for me it felt like ceremony. It felt like lighting a candle for the ancestors and saying, I am still here. We are still here.
I am grateful for this step in my journey, and I hope other Boricuas who are reconnecting with their Taíno roots find comfort and strength in these stories too.
It might not be 100% accurate but is a step in the right direction.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked these rich myths and cultural insights into the Taino. I'm glad they were not lost to history.
