Moon: 🌕 Pure (discussion of romance but none on page)
Chloe’s Missing Piece is such a sweet, heart-touching story that hits home in a very real way. The book follows Chloe as she navigates a superficial relationship with God, until a heartbreaking event changes everything for her.
Having recently lost someone very close to me, I found Chloe’s journey back to God incredibly relatable. The feeling of finding the missing piece inside you all along was captured so beautifully. I definitely felt that way when I found God.
I will say, this story is definitely very plot-driven over character-driven. Usually, this isn’t my cup of tea, especially with such emotional and personal topics. I struggled at times to fully connect with Chloe because I really wanted more inner narration to flesh out her headspace and feelings. Even with the story being told in first person, I felt Chloe was doing a lot of things but there wasn’t any thoughts or emotion behind it. There was also quite a bit of repetitive dialogue.
The last part of the book unfolds quickly and really forces you to connect with the characters as they navigate tragedy, grief, and wrestling with their faith. The way Chloe struggles is real, raw, and relatable.
The book ends on a cliffhanger as Chloe returns to work with a new outlook on her faith! It felt a bit abrupt, but I guess it did its job because I’m interested to see where Chloe goes in book two.
