The Autumn Equinox offers a chance for the few young men chosen to witness the magic of the Guild. The colony is blessed with bountiful crops, and prosperity, while the Daughters of the Guild grow their magic... and their bellies with young ones. Callie, the most powerful- and dangerous- element in the Guild wants nothing more than to leave. Jonah, a farmer’s son, grew up under his Godfearing Ma’s thumb, but nothing ever seemed right... until the strange witch stumbles into the markets, turning his world upside down and gives him a new purpose.
Robin Call is a caffeine addict. She spent her childhood and teen years dissociating from the trauma that’s guaranteed in every book (But this is Romance, so HEA’s are also guaranteed). She only sounds graceful in writing when she’s had time to write, rewrite, delete, rewrite (again), and edit. She may or may not make an ass of herself regularly. Robin is a stay at home parent so her husband could make the big bucks and pay the invoices for character art commissions and ISBNs. If she goes missing, check the pile of blankets on her bed.
One of the best fantasy books of 2025, no doubts. Epic, tragic and incredibly powerful, Jonah and Calliope will be in my memory forever. The worldbuilding? Just chef kisses 🤌🏻, it also comes with maps, family trees and a recipe. Warning: it is extremely addictive, i literally couldn't put it down to sleep.
The story follows a witch and a human man that feel incredibly drawn to each other, in a world where humans hate the witches. The characters had so much depth and I really felt myself relating to Callie a lot. The story is beautiful, but it’s not a happy ending. I’m so excited to read the second book!
I would first like to thank Robin Call for the arc copy of torn. I loved this book and devoured it in a day, it was super addictive. I especially loved the writing style. This is a fantastic fantasy book. If you like fantasy, I would highly recommend.
Fantasy is a new genre for me and this book continued to draw me in with each new chapter. It was hard to find stopping places when I needed to stop reading, I just kept wanting to know what happened next. I’m anxious for the next volume to see how the storylines evolve.
