I think I may have come to the end of the road with mills and Boon. The proliferation of stories set in a fictitious monarchy with unbelievable characters and even more unbelievable plots has become so boring. This is written by an excellent authoress whose books (in different pen names) I usually love. However this one is stilted, bizarre, and with a plot and characters, so ridiculous as to require a total suspension of disbelief which I am finding increasingly difficult to do.

I know M&B are fairy stories but seriously this one took far too many liberties. The world building is dreadful. How many monarchies exist in the mediterranean? Actually only 4 and we all know them and this one does not resemble them at all. I need some root in reality and there is none here. A fairy tale without the magic. I loathed emerald; she is prepared to sacrifice everything for her country. Please, how long is it since any royal actually believed all that?
An orphan, bodyguard, in Andreas who is also a billionaire? He’s not good enough to marry because he is not a prince? Seriously it is a fairy tale but it didn’t convince or enthral me. I am so disappointed in this, by one of my favourite authors.

Sorry, it is simply not my cup of tea.

I thought the overall premise of the story has potential. I did find myself wanting more character development and emotional depth throughout the novel, particularly in the relationships and major turning points. At times, the pacing felt very rushed—for example, after the main character meets her future husband, a month passes quickly without much insight into how she feels about him, or how her bodyguard views the situation while investigating whether the king could be dangerous. Later, when the bodyguard appears at the wedding and takes her away, it felt surprising that there was little reaction or pursuit afterward, which made the moment lose some emotional weight and tension. I think slowing down some of these key scenes and spending more time on the characters’ thoughts, motivations, and reactions would make the story feel more immersive and emotionally impactful. It sometimes felt more like a summary of events rather than fully living through them with the characters, but I think the story itself has a lot of potential with a bit more room to breathe.

IF YOU KNOW ME LOOK AWAY, I READ THIS FOR SCIENCE.

Princess, Pregnant, Prisoner is AI generated trash. Sentences in this book contain ten words or less, and an absurd amount of them started with conjunctions. Grammar errors abound. What a disgusting use of the English language.

It would have been a two star read if the main characters could have one, simple, normal conversation. Instead she is like “I love berry cake” and he responds, “I have seen the blood of my father’s enemies spilled in these halls. My father’s choices haunt me, and I cannot escape his legacy.” Okay Bruce Wayne, settle down.

wow another winner by Millie Adams. heroine is a princess in love with her bodyguard but promised to marry another man. they spend one night together and the result is a surprise pregnancy. loved their passion, the angst, the tortured alpha hero and the super sweet and innocent but fierce heroine! hero's father was a crime lord so naturally hero has a lot of issues but heroine brings him to life. epilogue with their daughter was adorable I highly recommend this book! 5 stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for an ALC of this book.

I am not sure what to say about the book Princess, Pregnant, Prisoner. It was an interesting read, but a bit unrealistic even by fantasy book standards. The timeline of when events happened was one of my biggest issues with the book. The love story was frustrating due to the hot and cold vibes of the two main characters.

Story was decent but didn't like the hero, the story was so-so. Skimmed then gave up to move on to the pile of books on my floor.

Princess Emerald is convinced the only way to make a difference in her country is to go through with an arranged marriage. Andrei is her bodyguard and the man she loves. Andrei and Emerald share a night of passion, and Andrei decides to steal her away from her wedding to a King. Emerald soon learns she is pregnant, and at first, she doesn't know how to tell him. When Andrei finds out, he is scared to admit his love for Emerald. This is your basic Harlequin romance. It was fun but not very deep. Thank you, NetGalley, for the Advanced Listeners' Copy in exchange for an honest review.
