They claimed me as theirs but that didn’t keep me safe from the monster that has haunted my nightmares

My father is here to break me, destroy me, until there’s nothing left. I know there’s no escape, no way out. Not when the only ones who know I’ve been kidnapped by my life-long tormenter are them, my enemies.

Or are they my lovers? Even I’m not sure anymore.

The clock is ticking. I can't hold off my father forever and hiding in my memories can only keep me tethered to sanity for so long.

Will they find me in time and make good on their promise that I’m only theirs, or will I be lost forever to this slice of hell?

Um, wow. Hope, I am here for your comeback!

This book picks up right where the last one ended, with Hope being kidnapped by her father, freshly released from prison. Dimitri, Knox, and Jaxon immediately go into rescue mode, determined to bring her home and make up for all the times they failed to protect her.

This installment broke my heart even more than the first. We get a deeper look into each character’s past, and it's clear they’ve all experienced some form of trauma. The story explores Hope’s painful childhood, reveals the full extent of what Knox endured, and shows how complicated and strained Dimitri’s relationship with his father really was. The only backstory we don’t fully uncover is Jaxon’s, leaving a sense of mystery around his childhood.

A large portion of the book unfolds through flashbacks, which adds significant emotional depth to each of the MMCs. These scenes made it easier to understand their choices, their pain, and why Coach meant so much to all of them. Then we see that image of him begin to crack and ultimately shatter. The weight of their guilt over how they treated Hope during their teen years is heavy and heartbreaking.

Hope, in this book, is raw survival. She clings to the hope that Dimitri, Knox, and Jaxon’s obsession with her will drive them to find her in time, to save her and protect her, this time for real. Meanwhile, all three of them are desperate to reach her before it’s too late.

There’s no spice between the MCs in this book. The focus is entirely on the mission to rescue Hope, but I have zero doubt the next one is about to turn up the heat.

Also, what is with these major cliffs?!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Protect picks up immediately after Breaks cliffhanger.
It mostly focuses on the MMCs PoV which I found positive since I at least felt the need to understand their earlier decisions and behaviors towards Hope. I still want to know more about Jaxon since it only felt like we got some crumbs about him while we went deeper into Knox and Dimitri.

Overall the book is fast paced and a quick read that I enjoyed.

I did have parts of the book where I was PACING while reading to get going more.

And just like I've said multiple times this year, WHAT WAS THAT CLIFFIE BODIE!!!

Protect is the sequel to Break, and honestly it's A LOT heavier. DEFINITELY mind the triggers.

We pick up where Break left off, the guys finding Hope gone. They try to do things the right way but knowing time is limited they end up going in search of Hope on their own.

This one ends on a cliffhanger, just like Break did.

But at least there are a lot of answers and closure to a lot of loose ends.

Again, MIND THE TRIGGERS. This one is HEAVY and I'm not kidding.

This one was definitely darker than the first. I actually read it in about an hour and a half because once I started, I couldn’t stop.

I wouldn’t call this a romance ,at least not in the traditional sense. The tone is heavier, the emotions are sharper, and it leaves you with more questions than answers.

I’m not rating the spice in this one, since it doesn’t really happen in the right setting for that.

The story ends on a cliffhanger, and I’m very curious to see where book three will take things.

“Touch her and die.” Never rang more true.
This book gutted me… in the best, most brutal way possible.
After the jaw-dropping cliffhanger of the first book, Protect picks up right where we left off: Hope is kidnapped by her monster of a father, newly released from prison, and all the worst parts of her past come crashing back. The trauma? Raw. The fear? Suffocating. And yet, somehow, Hope shines through it all.
This installment broke my heart even more than the first. What sets this book apart is how deeply it digs into not just Hope’s pain, but everyone’s. We learn more about the devastating pieces that shaped Knox, the emotionally fraught dynamic between Dimitri and his father, and see the first signs of unraveling when it comes to Coach, the man they once idolized. The only enigma still shrouded in mystery? Jaxon. His past remains unclear, but I have a feeling it’s going to hit hard in the final book.
A large portion of the story is told in flashbacks, and while that could easily drag a book down, here? It deepens it. These glimpses into the past give critical insight into the characters' guilt, shame, and trauma. And when we start to see Coach’s image crack and finally shatter, the emotional impact is devastating. You begin to understand why they betrayed Hope, without ever excusing it.
Hope, in this book, is pure survival. She’s scared, yes, but she’s also steel beneath it all. Her resilience shines as she clings to the only thing she has left: the belief that Dimitri, Knox, and Jaxon will come for her. That their obsession with her, twisted and complicated as it may be, will be the thing that saves her.
Meanwhile, the boys are in full rescue mission mode. Guilt is eating them alive, but so is love. They’re still morally black, still dangerous, still haunted, but their devotion to Hope is undeniable. And even though they’ve done unforgivable things, you feel the sincerity in their pain and their desperate need to fix what they broke.
And let’s talk about the spice. Or rather, the lack of it. There’s no steam between the MCs in this book, and honestly? I didn’t miss it. This part of the story isn’t about pleasure, it’s about pain, survival, and the pursuit of redemption. But something tells me book three is going to turn the heat all the way up.
🔥 Trope Breakdown:
⟣ Touch her and 💀
⟣ Obsessive/Just Plain Deranged MMCs
⟣ Morally Black Men (they’re not here to be healed, they’re here to destroy)
⟣ Groveling (and more groveling)
⟣ Multiple POVs (first-person)
⟣ Why Choose (3 MMCs, and we are not choosing)
⟣ Sports backdrop
⟣ Rescue mission with emotional stakes
⟣ “MINE” energy in all caps
⟣ CLIFFHANGER from hell

Final Thoughts:
The pacing is relentless. The tension never lets up. The stakes have never felt higher.
Protect is visceral, emotional, and unapologetically dark. It’s not an easy read, and trigger warnings should not be skipped, but if you can handle the themes, the emotional payoff is massive.
The writing is sharp, the trauma is real, and the characters are gloriously messy. You’ll love them, hate them, and mourn with them. And by the end? You’ll be counting down the seconds until the final chapter.
Bodie Summers, you did not come to play.
BRING ON BOOK THREE.
ARC Note:
I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

After the jaw-dropping cliffhanger of the last book, I dove into this one desperate for answers—and it didn’t disappoint. The mission to get Hope back kicks off fast, with Knox, Dimitri, and Jaxon determined to right their wrongs. But what really elevated the story for me were the perfectly interwoven flashbacks. Bodie doesn’t just push the plot forward, she deepens it, peeling back the layers of trauma that shaped Hope and Knox’s harrowing childhoods, and the dysfunctional relationship between Dimitri and his father. Curiously, Jaxon—who was the first to sense something was off in book one—remains more of a mystery here. Maybe his backstory is being saved for the final installment? Either way, we begin to understand why these men once idolized Hope’s father, and the disturbing loyalty that led them to betray her so deeply. As the guys race to find her, Hope is slowly unraveling. The reappearance of her father is like her worst nightmare. His presence is absolutely chilling—he made my skin crawl—and yet, there’s a powerful shift in Hope this time. Beneath the terror is a core of steel. She's scared, yes, but she’s also stronger. She’s determined to fight back, even knowing there may be no way out. One of the things I appreciated most was how the three men reckon with what they’ve done. There’s genuine remorse as they confront the truth about the man they once admired—and the role they played in delivering Hope into his hands. Their journey toward redemption feels much more grounded now, though let’s be honest—they still have some serious groveling to do. That said, they’re no longer the monsters they once seemed, but rather a trio of haunted, broken men clinging to the girl they can’t stop wanting. The writing is sharp, the pacing relentless, and the tension never lets up. Just like the first book, this one ends on another brutal cliffhanger—so brace yourself. You’ll be counting the days until the final chapter drops.

The second book and it's the same small little book.
A novella. Makes the 50% or so of the book feels sooooo wasted for me.
I mean, I understand how the author wants to give these three an opportunity to "tell" their background story.
For readers to see beyond their villain, bully in book one.
And I love it, but taking 50% of a novella?
Yeah, bit too much.

Well, anyway... The author delivered.
The second book was dark. Nauseatingly dark. Rap3 was told quite explicitly, so beware if this triggers you.
Violence, but for me it's a must in Hope case. In every oppressed people case. Kill the evil, is the only way.

And talk about abused, oppressed, raped, victim that being dehumanized for years yet keep strong and live... Very poeticly copying real time fact of life, isn't.

Where the evil play victim as the good guy, bestie to all, confidant - an Ally of short- even play as good leader. Gaining everyone trust while the victim is being label as a who're, wild, wayward, liar. Ring any bell of the real life fact holocaust today?

The perp is playing victim while the decades real victims and survivors are being label as terrorist.

These are the very resilient people that makes me believe what Hope did to her father was just.

He took everything from her but her faith, hope and resilient for future without him.

When you are being oppressed, don't stay silent.
When you are being oppressed, brutalized, raped, dehumanized, prison for life in such open air jail cell for years, for decades - fighting back, resist with all your power even when it's kills you in the process, resistance is an obligation for your freedom!

That's what this second book is about.
That's what Palestine people keep fighting for free Palestine from zionazis Israel and all it's allies, is all about!.

Protect picks up exactly where the cliff hanger from break (book 1) left us.

Again it’s a quick paced, quick read story but it’s packed with angsty drama that keeps you gripped and on the edge of your seat throughout.

Hope has been through a lot in her life, after being horrifically abused by her father and the subject of torment by his star hockey players she finally managed to escape and free herself. After dimitri, jaxon and Knox come back into her life in book 1 and find out everything they thought they knew about hope and her life was wrong, being lied to by her father and their hockey coach they vow to protect her and win her affection. But that isn’t until after they lead her father right back into her life. Once they realise the truth they try to do the right thing and have him arrested for his crimes against her, but when he gets released he kidnaps her and takes her away. It’s up to the 3 guys to get her back and rescue her before it’s too late.

I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book as an arc so was able to read books & 2 back to back (in less than 6 hours lol)but now I have to wait for part 3, nd yes this one ended on a cliffhanger too! A good read, but pay attention to the trigger warnings, this one is a lot darker than book 1 so pay attention to your triggers and consider the warning.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. This is the second book in this series. The last book ended in a cliffhanger. This book picks up right where the last book left off. Knox, Dimitri, and Jaxon are searching for their girl. She is theirs and they will protect her. Especially since they led her father to her. Despite being tormented by these guys, Hope felt a connection to them. Hope craved the pain and pleasure that only they could give her. Hope is now in the hands of her worst nightmare. She refuses to let him win again. She is ready to fight. Fight to get back to Knox, Jax and Dimitri. During the search, the bigger plan is revealed. The guys have to deal with finding out a person that they looked up to did this to the woman that had their hearts. There is only one way for this to end.

This book is dark, but not as dark as the first book. There is hope and redemption in this book that readers did not get in the first book. Readers get to know Hope, Knox, Dimitri and Jax in a way that we did not get in the first book. The background makes them more human. Readers will get more understanding. Readers will understand that the boys were victims as well. Hope’s father was a master manipulator that had help keeping his secret. I can’t wait to see how our guys build Hope up again. Ms. Summers has me all in on this series.

“Protect” is an intense, dark romance that delves into the minds of characters marked by trauma, guilt, and obsession. The narrative centers on Hope, a young woman who has suffered horrific abuse from her father, and three men—Knox, Jaxon, and Dimitri—who are desperate to rescue her and atone for their past failures.

This is a heavy, emotionally charged read that graphically explores themes of abuse, survival, and redemption. The author unflinchingly portrays Hope’s pain and her unwavering determination to regain control of her life. The men's intense guilt and their fierce, at times possessive, need to protect Hope add layers of tension and complexity.

The vivid writing is filled with raw emotion and intense internal struggles. Hope’s resilience is evident even in her darkest hours, and the bond between her and the men who love her, though messy and flawed, is undeniably powerful. The book concludes with a cliffhanger, leaving readers eager to discover how this broken yet determined group navigates their future.

Overall, “Protect” offers an unforgettable, edge-of-your-seat experience, provided you are prepared for its difficult and potentially triggering content.

Just like break read the trigger warnings! This book is heavy.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

After the cliffhanger of book 1 this book picks up right where book 1 stopped. There is no recap which is nice if you read the books back to back. The books are short quick reads so even if it has been a while you can quickly pick up the other book and reread some chapters.

While I still find it hard to accept the choices that have been made in the past, I get the point of view from the guys thanks to the new information about their backgrounds. We can also see them grow throughout this book which is nice because they needed to redeem themselves. We're hopefully not yet at the end of their growth (they still have some learning to do), but we are getting there.

Also if you're here for the spice, you will find none in book 2. Since the FMC is in a bit of trouble. I'm sure however that everything will progress in book 3🙈

I love that the book has multiple POV's😍

And AGAIN what a cliffhanger 😱 can't wait for book 3 to see how this will evolve!

Hope’s story is unimaginable: a father should be her protector, her anchor not her tormentor. The truths that are revealed in this book show the utter depravity and merciless brutality that she has suffered and is suffering again. The guys are looking for her and discover disturbing evidence that is horrific. Knox, Dimitri, and Jaxon feel helpless, scared, and frustrated as it seems to take too long to rescue Hope. Trigger warning should be taken seriously.

They’re also forced to recognize their responsibility for adding to her pain, trauma, and torment. Their rage is fueled by their own traumas and accepting their twisted beliefs and feelings is essential if they want a future with her. Bodie Summers captures the heart wrenching emotional and psychological toll that Hope endures: it’s raw and painful. There’s a sense of relief that is suspicious in light of everything that’s happening and I hope that third book isn’t so heartbreaking.

Protect is one of the darkest books I’ve ever read. The abuse the MFC, Hope, suffers most of her life, is heartbreaking and infuriating. To add to the physical trauma, the lies she’s been told and the rumors spread about her, cause her even more pain. As the peace Hope’s finally created is shattered, she realizes that she’s stronger than she thought and that saving herself, may be the only thing she can count on.

This second book in the, Their Shattered Hope series, answers a lot of questions from the first book, Break. I would recommend reading it before this one. You’ll get a better sense of the dynamic between the three MMCs and Hope’s father. Protect will also change the impressions we’re given of the three MMCs in the first book but they’re still a long way from redemption.

Be warned, Protect ends with a cliffhanger, just like Break, and it’s killer. Though I think I’ve figured out where the author’s going with the third book, the anticipation is going to drive me crazy!

This is the 2nd book of Hope's story. Picking up after her Monster of a father kidnaps her. Hope is a wonderful FMC. She has been broken and abused yet still stands strong. Knox, Dimitri, and Jaxon are her men through and through even though they bought into her father's lies and were part of her abusers in the first book. They love her deeply. This part of her story lots of things start changing in all 4 of them. Gruesome brutal truths become clear about Coach her father. And all 4 of them are growing in positive ways,
This story is dark so very dark. Please check TW. And again the cliffhanger at the end leaves me wanting book 3 like now. I realized that Hope's story is so good that I didn't have to try to remember anything from the first book. It stayed with me for this book. It's that good of a story. Bodie is one of my favorite authors and I will never stop reading her books. I highly recommend Hope's story for everyone. I could not stop reading once I started. So get settled and get ready for this very amazing story by Brodie.

The author is ripping my heart out with this series. This is a dark, twisted, gut wrenching story that has several TWs that need to be read before starting.

This picks up seamlessly after the first book Break. This is in multiple POV and more focus is on the MMCs perspectives which gave me more insight as to what they went through during their childhood, why they idolize Hope’s father- their coach. More insight on Knox and Dimitri, still some questions about Jaxon.

The author gives us flashbacks throughout and had me feeling an emotional pull for the MMCs as well as I did for Hope. This story had my heart breaking even more than the first story did.

When Hope’s father is released from jail and he goes for her and takes her unwillingly I am glued needing to know if the MMCs get to her in time. Pulse racing and heart pounding through this whole book! Only to be left with a heart stopping cliffhanger! I won’t be settled until I know the ending!!

*DO NOT START UNTIL YOU READ THE TWs

I received this book as an ARC through BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
After absolutely loving Book 1, I was genuinely excited to dive into the next installment. Unfortunately, this sequel didn’t quite live up to my expectations. I found much of the content to be repetitive, which made it difficult for me to stay fully engaged with the story.
The book ends on a cliffhanger, so readers should be prepared for that. While I do plan to continue the series to see how things unfold, I’m not as eager for the next installment as I was after finishing the first book.
That being said, I would still recommend this book, especially if you enjoyed the first one. Just go in with more tempered expectations, mine were probably a little too high, which may have affected my reading experience.

If you thought Break was dark—Protect doesn’t necessarily go darker... it goes deeper. This book felt shorter than the first, but not in a bad way. It was tighter, faster, and more emotionally focused. The story shifts beautifully from a girl rescued by her villains, to a woman becoming her own storm—her own villain, even—with those same shadows now fiercely standing behind her.

This isn’t just trauma-porn or shock value darkness. It's layered. We get raw insights into Dimitri’s past and more truth from Knox, while our girl steps fully into her pain and owns it. There’s a quiet, violent strength in her now—and damn, it’s magnetic.

The pacing was brisk, some moments flew by too quickly, but emotionally? It landed hard. Still gritty, still painful, but with a sense of purpose and growth. If Break was about surviving, Protect is about reclaiming.

Bodie Summers doesn’t hold back in Protect. This is a raw and gripping story of survival, trauma, and a bond forged in fire. The heroine’s captivity at the hands of her father is chilling, but her inner strength—and the unexpected care (and passion) from her captors-turned-saviors—keeps you hooked.

This book balances heavy emotional beats with steamy tension and moments of surprising vulnerability. The enemies-to-lovers arc feels dangerous and unsteady, but in the best way for a story like this. It’s not for the faint of heart—there are plenty of triggers, and the darkness lingers.

Overall, Protect is an intense, addictive read perfect for fans of morally gray heroes, high stakes, and no-fluff dark romance.

This book does not mess around. It has more triggers than a gun show. Please know your comfort level before you dive in.

That said, if you enjoyed Break then you’re going to want to devour this book. It picks up right where the cliffhanger ending left off. FMC Hope has to dig deep to stay alive. Our reformed bullies Dimitri, Jaxon and Knox face some pretty uncomfortable truths about themselves.

We get some answers but are left with another cliffhanger ending that has me biting my nails waiting for the third installment Love to be released. Hoping and praying for a HEA for Hope. No one deserves it more.

Couldn't keep this book down!!! This book is the 2nd book after Break and starts where it left in the 1st book. This book is darker than book 1 and ends on a cliffhanger. We see Hope, Jax, Dimitri and Knox getting to know many secrets and many questions are answered about them. It still leaves questions for the third book. The backstory of the Hope and her dad is revealed in the book and ends on a Happy note (not HEA, 3rd book is yet to come). Highly recommend this series to satisfy your cravings from a short book.

Ultimate Page Turner!

Protect is book 2 in a trilogy that sucked me right in. You must start from the beginning with Break before you move on to Protect. I read them one after another and was unable to put them down.

Protect is dark, emotional, twisty and heartbreaking. The characters are complicated, damaged, tortured and evolve throughout the story. This book is well written, suspenseful and definitely ends on a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read the next one!

Mind any trigger warnings, Bodie holds nothing back and the intensity is so satisfying!

Mind the triggers and the cliffs. So just like book one, this one ends on a cliffhanger and dare I say an even better one than the first. TW are real, but if you don’t have any, I would recommend going in blind. I love feeling what the characters are going through and feeling without knowing from a TW page. Hope is missing and the men are on a mission to get her back.

Absolutely LOVE!!!! I didn’t think I could love Knox, Jaxon and Dimitri more than I did at the end of the first book. I was wrong. You see a different side of them in Protect than the harsh, obsessive men you read about in Break. I love them! 🖤

Protect ends on a cliffhanger… I need the third book asap!

This was not an easy read. Please make sure to check the trigger warnings. I found myself crying and shaking even got physically ill several times. I feel like Knox, Dimitri and Jaxon have definitely redeemed himself and what they did to Hope. It does end on a cliffhanger. I want to know who called coach and warned him. And I'd like to see Dimitri's dad get what he deserves.

Protect picks up right where Break left off with that cliffy. The guys race to find Hope and get her away from her father. Her father is despicable. Hope is so strong despite the trauma she’s been through and is still dealing with. Like the first book I’m completely hooked with this one too. Beginning to end I could not put it down. Definitely watch out for triggers. Need book 3 asap after that cliffy. Hope it comes out soon. Bodie Summer is fast becoming a new favorite author for me!!!

Ok now, i need the third book!!! When do we get it?!

This books took me out of a reading slump probably just to put me even deeper in another one!
I was only in page 12 when i started screaming!! I mean...the feelings...
and don't get me started with Jaxon, i knew that I liked him the most on first book but damn... in this one I loved him!
I feel like this book was an emotional roller coaster, Hopes diary had me heartbroken, and Knoxes reaction had me angry and in pain at the same time, if you know what I mean.
there were also phrases that got me for good and... got me in tears:
"She saw us and saw help, saw freedom..."
" What the f** did we do?". really now?!
and don't even get me started with Dimitri in the police station...
I have read this book almost a week now and i still cannot get over it. 🔥
Something else that I also loved in this book is that she gives emphasis on the plot and not in the spice and that had me hooked!

I need the third one, like...now!!!

The suspense is immense once again with Bodie Summers next instalment! I would say the book could be connected to the first and make for a longer and suspensful first book BUT I adored the character arcs in this one and the awareness each character was beginning to have for their own actions - would recommend for dark romance readers!

I think this was a great continuation. It pulled me into the story right away, as it follows from the previous.
This book had lots of emotional moments, suspense, secrets come out, and more.
Most importantly, our MMC focus on the mission to rescue Hope.
Sadly, it does end on another cliffhanger!
