Olivia Barrett believes in destiny. In determinism. In the certainty that her life’s path is already written.
But when a deadly explosion destroys her university lab — and kills the professors she accused of misconduct — Olivia becomes the FBI’s prime suspect.
Forced into an uneasy alliance with Rachel Quinn, an FBI bomb specialist who believes in free will above all else, Olivia is pulled into a relentless investigation, a growing body count, and a series of disturbing events that suggest time itself may be slipping.
As the past and future tangle around them, Olivia and Rachel must unravel a killer’s plan before fate seals their own.
A mind-bending thriller of fate, obsession, and how far one person will go to rewrite the past.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“Mindblowing read!!! This story kept me guessing and invested throughout — I was tired, but couldn’t stop reading. A must read.” — BookSirens reviewer
Lynn M. Kristopher writes genre-bending psychological thrillers that explore obsession, identity, and the eerie space between what is and what might be. Her debut novel, Fixed Point, blends psychological suspense with speculative twists and was recognized in the 2026 Eric Hoffer Book Awards, earning the Grand Prize Short List, First Horizon Debut Author Award Finalist, and Honorable Mention in eBook Fiction.
In her Rachel Quinn Thrillers, Kristopher combines layered characters, mounting tension, and psychological suspense with speculative fiction to create stories that linger long after the final page. Her writing is shaped by the psychological depth of Thomas Harris, the eerie atmosphere of Shirley Jackson, the sharp existential humor of Kurt Vonnegut, and the dystopian insight of George Orwell.
When she’s not writing, she’s usually chasing strange questions or rewatching The X-Files in the shadowy corners of central Florida—far from the beachgoers and sunshine.
I'm not an expert in physics, but I am someone interested in the concept of time travel, alternate realities and what it could mean. That's what got me interested in the book.
Me meet Olivia after she had to experience the repercussions for speaking up at her university and the work environment she experienced. Consequently, she is devastated and decided to unlive herself. The next chapter starts with her (still being alive) and having the same meeting at the university but this time, an even happens those changes everything. It felt like a Deja-vu in same moments, and this is exactly what the intention is.
When Olivia is considered a suspect and investigated, we learn about her story and find out, that interactions in the past don't seem so random anymore and we experience with her more and more of these situations that seem familiar. But why is that?
We get an interesting story with two female characters whose interactions with each other I really enjoyed. The book raises the question of: If you could change / impact the past or certain events, how much of an impact will it have on future events? Are you able to change a fixed outcome?
If you like these types of stories and are looking for something that will keep you engaged throughout the whole book, this one might be for you.

That is the question this story attempts to answer. To be honest, I really had to pay attention to the story in order to keep track of all the twists and turns in the plot. This is very well-written and the plot was obviously well thought out.

Fixed Point asks a timeless question: Are our futures malleable, or are we bound to the path set for us at birth? Olivia, the novel’s central character, spends her life wrestling with this idea, a struggle that ultimately shapes her career in physics and her understanding of love, purpose, and possibility.
As Olivia pushes forward in her PhD research—often in spite of colleagues she’d rather avoid—she finds unexpected support in Ethan, a lab tech whose quiet loyalty becomes increasingly important. Their partnership grounds the scientific story line and adds emotional depth as Olivia edges closer to discoveries that could change everything.
Running parallel to Olivia’s narrative is the perspective of Rachel, an FBI agent chasing a series of inexplicable bombings across the country. Each crime scene reveals the same mysterious man, and Rachel’s determination to uncover his identity drives a tense, investigative thread. The alternating viewpoints between Olivia and Rachel, combined with shifting timelines, create a puzzle-box structure that steadily builds suspense.
Kristopher layers twist after twist, keeping the reader guessing as the scientific and investigative plots begin to converge. The novel’s structure is one of its greatest strengths—each chapter offers just enough information to propel you forward while deepening the mystery.
Fans of Laura Dave’s The Last Thing He Told Me will appreciate the similarly propulsive pacing and the way Fixed Point blends emotional stakes with high-tension storytelling. It’s a book that keeps you on edge, not just because of the plot, but because it continually challenges your assumptions about fate, choice, and the unexpected ways our lives intersect.

3.75 - Fixed Point is a journey through time. This fast paced thriller grabbed my attention from the start and held it until the very end. There were character twists and developments that were surprising, even though I did figure out one of the main plot/character twists. There are two main characters. Olivia is accused of bombing a university building. She pleads her innocence and eventually ends up helping Rachel, the FBI agent. They learn there is more to our world than what meets the eye. Time travel is real and possible and Olivia holds the key to the entire investigation.

While I enjoyed this book for the most part, I had some problems in the middle. It seemed to drag, and I found myself wanting to jump ahead, but I resisted the temptation, and I'm glad I did. The last fourth of the book was worth the minor issues I had with the middle. It was exciting, engaging, unexpected, and compelling. And while time-travel is not one of my favorite genres, I'm glad I gave Fixed Point a try. I will be looking for other works by Ms. Christopher to check out. I received a review copy from the author via BookSirens, and this revewi reflects my honest and voluntary opinion.
4.2⭐️ This book had been thinking going back and forth between past and future. Their struggles felt genuine, and I found myself emotionally invested in what would happen to them. The tension never let up, and there was a sense of unease throughout the entire story that kept me turning pages late into the night. Olivia and Rachel both stories very intriguing 🤨 eerie and Dark .
This is a well paced thriller, with a likeable main female character that picks up speed as it goes. I did enjoy it it, a good idea, well written, I will look forward to reading more by this writer.
Reading Fixed Point took me on a journey through time. The fast paced adventure held my attention through out the entire journey. I devoured this book trying to read faster and faster for the conclusion. There were character twists and developments that I was not prepared to unfold.
Fixed point follows two main characters. One trying to solve a bombing and the pleading her innocence. The doubtful FBI agent learns there is more to our world than what meets the eye. Time travel is very real and possible. Her suspect holds the key to her entire investigation. No one can change their fate. You cannot change anything.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this book as an ARC read. I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure.
Mindblowing read!!!! This was a brilliant story that kept me guessing and invested throughout the story. I was tired, but I needed more and kept reading until I finished this. I sat in silence processing it and letting it soak in. This is the type of book I love. It felt so full of possibilities and promises that resonated with me. A must read. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest opinion.
Fixed Point is a dark, clever, time‑fractured thriller that pulls you in from the moment Olivia Barrett’s world explodes—literally. One minute she’s a physics student fighting to expose misconduct in her department, and the next she’s the FBI’s prime suspect in a deadly lab bombing. The evidence is stacked so neatly against her that even she, with her unshakeable belief in determinism, starts to wonder whether resisting her fate is pointless.
Enter Rachel Quinn, an FBI bomb specialist who’s been chasing a bomber for years. She doesn’t buy the neat narrative wrapped around Olivia, and that tension between them—suspicion, curiosity, reluctant trust—gives the story a sharp emotional edge. As more bodies fall and the timeline begins to fracture, the book leans fully into its mind‑bending premise. Past and future blur, patterns repeat, and both women are forced to confront the possibility that someone is manipulating time itself.
The non‑linear structure is intentional and rewarding. Pieces click into place gradually, like a puzzle you can feel taking shape long before you see the full picture. It’s atmospheric, unsettling, and full of that delicious sense of inevitability you get from the best time‑twisting thrillers.
Tense, intelligent, and quietly haunting, Fixed Point explores obsession, fate, and how far someone will go to rewrite the past. Fans of The Shining Girls and Dark Matter will feel right at home in its shifting shadows.
With thanks to Lynn M Kristopher, the publisher and netgalley for the ARC
Twisted Time Thriller Anyone who has watched and remembers, or even the commercials, will know the reference to the name 'Mulder'. That was a dead giveaway that this would not be a simple, straightforward story, and it was not! It kept me going at every change to know that it was not over, yet. Right up to the end, and is it over...? I loved the passion for the work, safety, knowledge, and wanting to know what they do not remember, and why it just does not 'feel right'. Thank you, Lynn M. Kristopher, for a great story! I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest review.
A Stunning Debut from Kristopher An intricate and fascinating concept woven into a truly captivating story. The writing is superb—it flows effortlessly and makes for a deeply satisfying read. Twists, turns, and surprises pop up at just the right intervals, ensuring you stay alert and constantly questioning if you’ve identified the right criminal. With plenty of drama and thrills, the story remains grounded thanks to thoughtfully developed characters. I highly recommend this thriller; if this is indeed Kristopher’s debut, I’ll be anxiously awaiting her next book." I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review."

Do you believe in destiny? That is controls everything that happens to you? Olivia Barrett does. She believes her path was set for her when she was born. Olivia becomes an FBI most wanted when her university lab blows up and the professor she has previously accused of misconduct is killed int he explosion. Olivia becomes fast friend with Rachel Quinn, the FBI bomb expert in a desperate attempt to clear her name.
It took me a long time to get into the book, but at some point this changed and I couldn't put it down. At first it felt repetitive and no hook. Once the storyline became more interesting it was a much easier and enjoyable read.

A mind-bending thriller of fate, obsession, and how far one person will go to rewrite the past. Fixed Point is a convoluted mystery full of twists and turns. Do you believe in free will? Or do you believe that we are fated to walk an unknown but unbreakable path?
This was a very interesting read. Totally makes you think and when you think you know what’s going on, bam, super twist!! Definitely a page turner and a must read!!.

Excellent character development Drives the story as the plot relies so much on the believability of those involved. Not always easy to read, but not easy to put down either. I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily provided an honest review.
Thank you to #NetGalley for this copy! I was hoping this would be much more thriller, but I didn't find it very thrilling. All the physics talk & time travel wasn't really for me. This was a good read but I wasn't as interested as I thought I would be,.

This would have to be one of the strangest tales I have ever read. It's absolutely brilliant in concept and encompasses more than one genre. A well recommended read.
FIXED POINT - This turned out to be a difficult to read book with its unrealistic law procedures, sometimes weird dialog, and jumping back and forth. The characters aren't anyone that is likeable, which isn't a requirement. At least, the vulgar language is infrequent and not used by every character. It took a while for the story to roll, but that's when the unprofessional behavior began by Rachel, the FBI agent. The book sounded better than read, average storytelling, although, the last few chapters were more interesting th as n the majority of the book. Source: Booksprout. 3*
