We're a fan of what goes around comes around, and sometimes karma needs our help...

Carrying on from When Provoked, we find that Quinn is in as much, if not more danger than before her husband's death. Who is Subject No1? Why is Quinn being targeted? She is determined to face everything head on. I absolutely raced through this book, trying to put all the jigsaw pieces together. It's a master class in tension with some dark subject matter that stays with you long after the end. Quinn is smart, brave, determined, tenacious and has a bucket load of empathy. I was rooting for her all the way through. All the pieces fit together to reach a dramatic conclusion. Karma at its best! I'd highly recommend reading When Provoked before starting this book, otherwise it could be difficult to marry up the multi layers of the story. My thanks to BookSirens for the ARC. This is my honest review.
If you haven’t read Book 1, you’ll likely feel lost—this is definitely not a standalone novel. The characters and plot developments rely heavily on the groundwork laid in the first installment.
That said, fans of the series will likely appreciate how the stakes are raised and the momentum continues to build.
Time to Kill is now available on Amazon. Thanks to all early readers for taking the time to read and leave a review. I appreciate you all! Trigger warnings include: human trafficking, (fade to black) sexual abuse of a child, and violence.
First of all, I’m really glad I read the first book in the series before this one. There’s a lot of backstory and character relationships that aren’t fully explained in this book, so jumping in without that context would probably be confusing. Time to Kill is not a standalone read. Quinn finds herself in some tricky situations as she tries to uncover more about KARMA and Admin. She’s still got Cliff in her corner, and Sean is back too — though she’s not sure she can trust him. There’s also a moral dilemma for Quinn as she starts questioning KARMA’s real motives and what role she should play in it all. There are some good twists in the book, though a few things felt a bit far-fetched, and the ending was pretty rushed. It clearly sets up for another book, but I would’ve liked a little more closure. With a bit of editing, I think it could’ve been a stronger read overall. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would read the next in the series. “Time to Kill” is the second book in Eva Mackenzie’s, Quinn Cole series, and it’s a solid follow-up that builds nicely on the groundwork laid in the first. One of the standout aspects of this installment is Quinn’s continued development—she’s evolving in believable, compelling ways that keep me invested in both her personal journey and the cases she tackles.
Compared to book one, the tension in Time to Kill ramps up more quickly, which I appreciated. While it’s still more of a slow burn than the fast and twisty thrillers I usually gravitate toward, the story holds its own with excellent character development and a plot that remains gripping throughout.
Eva Mackenzie continues to deliver a thoughtfully crafted thriller that favors substance over shock, and it’s working. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where Quinn goes next.

Time to Kill by Eva MacKenzie is a fast-paced and intense thriller about Quinn Cole, a woman who has lost everything and is now being hunted by a group of masked killers. Instead of running, she chooses to fight back, no matter what it takes. The story is full of action, emotion, and suspense, with a strong lead character who’s easy to root for. It’s dark and violent at times, so it may not be for everyone, and it helps to read the first book in the series, When Provoked, to fully understand Quinn’s journey. Still, this is a gripping and emotional read that keeps you hooked from start to finish. If you like thrillers with strong female leads and high-stakes drama, Time to Kill is a great choice.
I would absolutely recommend reading book one before starting this one you need the background. This one starts on the heels of the first book and I love that. I am truly enjoying the roller coaster Quinn has been on. This does have some dark subject matter so maybe check the triggers warnings first. All that being said I would 100% recommend this one as well.

I received an advance copy of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily. This is the sequel to When Provoked and should not be read as a standalone. The pace in this book is faster than its prequel but still a bit of a slow burn for me personally. Quinn is targeted in this chapter after losing practically everything and races to identify faceless criminals before they get her. 4 stars
Time to Kill is the second book in Eva Mackenzie’s Quinn Cole series and you will need to read book one to know what's going on. This is a fast-paced and intense thriller packed with twists and turns. I highly recommend reading.
Trigger warnings include human trafficking, (fade to black) sexual abuse of a child, and violence.
