Mystic Cove #3

Wild Irish Soul

Rate this book

Love was never her strong suit.

Aislinn is used to living life on her terms. As an artist with an extra-sensory gift, she allows her moods, and those of the natural world, to inspire her paintings for her gallery set in small town Grace's Cove. Running her business as she pleases, Aislinn has danced around serious commitments her whole life.

When Dr. Baird Delaney moves his psychiatry practice to town and stops by her shop to pick up some prints for his office, Aislinn's world tilts. Irresistibly drawn to his presence, yet convinced that the uptight doctor is a poor match for her free-flowing artistic soul, Aislinn is torn. Both Aislinn and Baird will have to suspend their beliefs as they tumble headfirst into a messy, unrepentant love that challenges both to accept each other unequivocally.

Wild Irish Soul is a stand alone novel and book 4 of the Mystic Cove Series.

Tricia O'Malley continues to present an entertaining and captivating place in an extraordinary world. Each installation in the series focuses on a different female with a particular mystical power. The hero and heroine played a seducing game of cat and mouse. The heroine was such an independent and strong character except during romantic rendezvous.

Wild Irish Soul is the third book in the Mystic Cove series by Tricia O'Malley. This series transports the reader into a mystical world on the rocky shores in Ireland, where women have magical gifts passed down from their ancestral female descendants. In each book, the heroine must face revealing her gift to the man she has fallen in love with, hoping that he can accept this oddity.

DESCRIIPTION:

Oh, to stop the voices in her head.

Other people's voices, that is. As a pub owner with an extra special gift, all Cait Gallagher craves is a moment of silence. That, and to own the building her pub is housed in along with the heart of the building's landlord, Shane MacAuliffe. Though she is irresistibly drawn to Shane, her vulnerabilities cause her to put up a tough exterior. When the two butt heads, more than sparks fly, and Cait finds herself trembling on the precipice of love.

Shane has watched Cait for years. Stubborn, beautiful, and with a trim body that he is dying to get his hands on, Cait is it for him. And yet, she continues to infuriate him by walking away from his kiss. Every time. At his wits' end, Shane doesn't know what to do to make Cait his own.

Unapologetic and fiercely proud, Cait must conquer her insecurities and reveal her true self to Shane or face losing everything

Each book in this series increases my interest a bit more. Although I did not find it overwhelmingly captivating, I did find it very enjoyable.

There was a H.E.A. followed by an informative epilogue. I really do appreicate a good epilogue. This installation was packed with several developing relationships and the reader would benefit greatly by reading each installation in the series in order to understand the characters and their relationships more fully.

Although Wild Irish Soul can be read as a stand-alone novel, the reader would glean much more from the contents by reading the entire series in order. I would recommend this book series to other readers who enjoy this type of genre.

Cross a science minded hot man with an artist empathic woman and fireworks are sure to follow! This book definitely drives that point home, but will they flame out or burn long and hot together....you'll have to read and see as I'm not giving it away! This series just keeps getting better and better! I am thoroughly enjoying it on audible and this book is no exception! I can't wait to see what comes in the next book!

Trish has done it again in her wild Irish series! The chemistry between Aislinn and Baird is causes sparks to jump off mu Kindle. The story of a wild, impulsive artist and a scientifically-minded psychiatrist is perfect. Despite getting evidence of the magic that women in Grace's cover practice, he can't be convinced without scientific evidence. Even though they have a steamy on-again-off-again romance, he continues to mess things up. It is funny, warm and romantic. The magic element adds lots of intrigue and fun tot his series and the women are strong and independent.

This is my favourite book in this series so far. I feel like every book just keeps getting better and better. Wild Irish Soul had me in tears by the end of the book.

Aislinn is quirky, she's cute and everything I wish I could be. I am so much like Baird being Type A that it hurts LOL.

Understanding and trust is a huge theme of this book. And The Revelation made my heart so excited.

What I found interesting is this novel happens sort of at the same time as Cait and Shane's story (part of their story took part in this novel too). Morgan was also prominent in this book too and we learn more about her character and a bit of her back story. I am excited to see more of her in the next book.

I feel like Keelin really hasn't been in any of the books since book one (because of her vacay for various reasons -- won't spoil anything as you can just read these books as single stories and not a series). Hopefully her and Flynn are in more of the books going forward as well.

Having been to Dublin -- I was very excited to see some of the places the characters stopped that I had also been too. And to add a few more places to my 'want to go' list.

Ireland holds such a special place in my heart and these books just make me fall even more in love every day.

What a wild ride these books have been. Just a sheer joy and treat.

I can't quite decide if it is three stars or four. It is better than book #2 but something is holding me back. Maybe I'm just getting tired of the series.

Couldn’t resist listening to this so soon! I wanted to wait out, but the ending of the last had me curious! A new hot doctor in town? Eeeerrrrr. YES!

But yes, this story follows Aislinn (which I love that name btw) who is Keelin’s half-sister (love her name too) and her power is being able to see people’s feelings and auroras of the world. She is arty and a free spirit. I adored her. She is who I wish I could be. Dr Yummy (as Cait calls him) aka Baird has come to town to open his new practice. He is a psychologist and is drawn to Aislinn and her to him. Things happen pretty quickly. They have the lust down-pat, but the love? THAT is a whole different can of worms.

This worked out well. It seemed to really fit them. Baird is a man of science and Aislinn is a free-spirit who lives in a town of magic. So they clash A LOT. I did get so annoyed with Baird but what do you expect? He isn’t going to believe in the magic right away. There was one point when I feel Aislinn forgave him too quickly. I would’ve been SO SO hurt. BUT true love is about forgiveness. I guess I am a bitter bird.

I enjoyed this journey as much as Keelin’s. I had no real issue overall. I love Aislinn. I love the town. I liked Baird even though there was a moment when I was really mad at him. Uncool bro!!!!! *shakes fist* This is such a fun series!

The narrator was the same as the last one and I adored her. I think she does the rest of the series as well so I am excited.

In the end, I’ll stamp this with 5 stars. I just loved this book. I am in love with this series overall. There are some books left to read/listen and I am excited!

My favorite of all the books by far. I loved the progression through this series and each story gets a wee bit more “Irish” as we go along. I fell in love with Aislinn and the beautiful way Ms. O’Malley had of using her words to paint a picture in your mind, I cried and cried again.

MINI SPOILER ALERT

Aislinn says to Baird at one point that she can “look” at a scene and later recreate it through memory but it doesn’t have the same impact as when she sits in nature in paints what she sees. That she paints what she “feels” not just the view. These scenes were so eloquently written that I could also feel that emotion in the scenes she wove with her words.

Again we have a strong female lead character and a hero who’s a little stubborn and needs as swift kick in the seat of his pants, definetly a familiar pattern in each story, however the male characters are still likeable, if a little frustrating at times

"As there's no answer to what simply is, you'll never understand it. I don't understand. None of us do. You either accept what is in front of your eyes or deny it. One way leads to happiness, another to misery. I know which road I choose”

Let me start out by saying I hated Baird through most of the book. He was so obtuse and downright rude and condescending. He thought he knew everything. And that stunt with his friend Matthew? Ugh, I literally felt like i was spitting fire. I was so angry!!! Aislinn standing up to him again and again made me so incredibly happy! She comes off as soft and sweet, but she's got such a strength and fire! It shows you don't need to always be loud to be strong.

A love that doesn't care about looks, that has survived battles, that has seen hardships and troubles, that has been tested and grown stronger for the testing, and one that will last on…into the grave.”

I really didn't want Aislinn and Braird to end up together. He really didn't deserve her with the way he acted. While he did grow, it was hard to love him when Aislinn is so amazing. Her kindness and understanding towards Morgan and her trauma showed how amazing of a human she truly is.

“Every great artist has a tendency to step back, as though emerging from a cloud, to look at what they've created and wonder…how did that come from me?”

I cried at this part. Bawled my eyes out. I felt Aislinns anger, hurt, pain, and love! This author does an amazing job at conveying all the complicated emotions associated with relationships.

“That's the thing with love…with emotions. It's messy. Things become intertwined, feelings hurt, and it's only true love when you seek to understand the other person's motivations and agree to forgive. That is the type of love that grows over the ages. A lasting, forgiving love.”

The ending was beautiful. The forgiveness on Aislinns part was stunning. It shows, truly shows, what forgiveness entails. Braird finally accepted all of her. And she finally accepted her feelings for him! God I love this series

My favorite so far!

Ok I was a bit upset with the last book because I missed Keelin and she was basically non existent and I hate falling for characters then they drop off the face of the earth in later books!
Fast forward to book 3. Wow! I am in love with this series. This one made me cry!
If you like Nora Roberts or Ireland romances this series is for you. It almost reminds me of her Born In Series, but Tricia brings a bit more sex appeal which I wish Nora did.
Now onto this book.*spoiler alert*I like the change up in dynamics. Our girl is really scared to commit understandably. I did not see the science lab happening at all!!! I'm hard to stump and this came out of no where. Knowing I wasn't at then end was a clue 😉
I love how they both came to apologize. I love how "the men" were ready to break his bones but relented knowing they had each been asses in the same position. I loved this story so much!!! Not to mention Grace appeared to him!! Moving stuff! Again did I mention I cried???
Now on to my annoyances though they are small I still gave this a 5 star. I wanted to confirm Keelin's pregnancy at some point. Ugh. She didnt mention Sean or Colin attending the showing. How bad is that relationship?? They weren't even mentioned in a significant way other than brushing up on past books. I am now hoping at the end of this series I get Fiona and her husbands book as well as Grace O'Malleys

This third book in the Mystic Cove series is another keeper. Aislinn is a descendent of Grace O’Malley and as such, has a gift like all of her female descendants. We knew this from the previous reads as she is Keelin’s half sister (Book One- wild Irish Heart). Aislinn is also an artist who infuses her art with her feelings and a memory for everything she sees.
Baird Delaney comes to town to open his psychiatry practice. As an outsider, he knows nothing of Grace’s Cove or the abilities of Grace O’Malley; s descendants. He is science minded and ‘magic’ is naturally a struggle for him.
One thing that neither Aislinn or Baird can deny is the incredible attraction they have for each other. They might stand a chance if Baird can think with his heart instead of his head; and Aislinn can give the guy a break and time to accept that magic is real.
A thoroughly enjoyable read that flows very much as all of the books in this series. There is a nice pull of characters from previous books which allows us to stay up to date on their current activities as well. I appreciate that Tricia O’Malley allows then to weave in and out because I love them all. This is a great series for magic, fantastic characters, and a happily ever after.

Aislinn’s my favourite of the FMCs so far. Her pride, acceptance and even love of her own gifts made me really happy, after Keelin’s stubbornness and Cait’s anxiety & rage. Although I can see Morgan’s going to be a real journey I’m reeeally looking forward to her book next, and an MMC who is already in the know and (hopefully) isn’t going to have a meltdown/temper-tantrum about it. Goddamn Baird’s reaction was almost as infuriating as Flynn’s and Shane’s, so Patrick better step carefully or I’m climbing into the book and backhanding him.

…obviously I’m invested in this series now, almost as much as I am with The Enchanted Highlands Series. You can really see Trisha’s writing style growing and finding its feet as the series progresses. It’s well-rounded, engaging and it keeps me interested in the characters - contrary to how it looks above, I really do like them all so far and I’m interested to pick up hints about who the next descendants will be for the books after Margaret & Sean (which I’m simultaneously excited for and dreading incase it’s stressful. I’m reading these cozy romantasy series’ as a break from anxiety-inducing high-stakes romantasy because it’s temporarily traumatised me, damn it, I don’t need it here too!)

Wild Irish Soul is book three in the Mystic Cove series by Tricia O’Malley. This delightful series takes place in Ireland where magic is possible. It is a great series about the descendants of Grace O’Malley, pirate and mystic being. It brings the tales of Ireland to life.
Keelin Burke had come to Ireland to find out about her Father and in the process, found she had a half-brother and half-sister. They had known of her existence; but she didn’t know of theirs. She made headway with Colin when she saved his son; but now needed to deal with Aislinn.
Aislinn Burke was an artist. She could feel the moods of the colors in nature and transfer those onto canvas. She had started a small tourist store in Grace’s Cove and it was doing fair. She wasn’t much of a business woman as she closed when she wanted to paint. Her life was content until a psychiatrist decided to move his office to Grace’s Cove and close to her store. Baird was one who looked at the facts behind everything and didn’t take anything at face value. How would he take it when Aislinn told him of her powers? Would he stay or would he run or would he do something entirely different?

Do You Believe in Magic?

Can an artist living on pure emotion and a mystical gift find love with a psychiatrist who believes there is a scientific explanation for everything? That is the dilemma facing Aislinn O’Brien and Dr. Baird Delaney. New to the village of Grace’s Cove, the good doctor realizes there is something very different about this place. When he meets the artistic Aislinn, their attraction is undeniable. But bizarre encounters and events that defy the laws of science make him doubt Aislinn and the secrets she reveals to him. Can he accept her for who she is or will he turn his back on the woman he loves?

This, for me, was the most emotional book in the series so far. The characters are so well drawn and the connections they share are so well defined, it make you want to visit this magical place again and again. I loved it!

This is the 3rd book in a 6 book series. The main character, Aislinn, is an artist but what is really awesome is that she is able to see the inner colors and the moods of nature and be able to paint them. The author did a great job in describing Aislinn's work and each painting or piece popped into your mind after she described it. You could feel the emotions coming out of her paintings just by the author's words.
Baird is a psychologist so naturally he seems to be all scientific. I love how Aislinn and Morgan turn his world upside down by using their powers. It's so funny, but then so frustrating when he keeps trying to reason it out with science. Baird ends up really hurting Aislinn in the process but finally figures out how to make it up to her.
The author goes into some of Morgan's abilities who is the main character in the 4th book.

Dr Yum… indeed!

Depsite being fully ensconced in the world that is Grace’s Cove, Dr Yum, er, Baird is a non believer… what?!? Oh the science mind!!

Ash and Baird have some twists and turns to figure out and nothing is ever as easy as that! What an emotionally charged trip one takes through their story!

O’Malley wonderfully braids the lives of the town through the story and we grow closer to Morgan, Patrick, the girls and Fiona. Ash beings them along as she struggles to find her footing.

Ash, is such a strong willed, stubborn woman! How will she ever come to grips with a straight laced guy like Baird? Oh you’ll just have to traverse the pages and find out! It is a delicious tale…

Start to finish in one sitting, I was fully captivated and entrenched in this story. I can’t wait to follow the adventure in book 4!

How to review a book in a series of books that are each outstanding? Tricia O'Malley pens the words that opens the world of mystic Ireland to her readers.

Each book explores the life and emotions of a different descendant of the great Irish pirate, Grace O'Malley. Each one is gifted with a special mystical power - empath, mind reader, healer, telekinesis, all powers of the O'Malley bloodline. Each one is both a gift and a curse that they must learn to live with. Each one handles it differently, finding her way in the world of romance and life in general.

This is one of the best series I have ever read. As one reads, one laughs, cries, gets frustrated, and feels all the emotions that the author so expertly conveys.

Aislinn is an artist and a free spirit, doing things her way and on her own time. So her attraction to the new psychiatrist in town, Baird Delaney, doesn't make sense. He's uptight and organized the complete opposite of Aislinn. But she does feel something for him! When she tells him about her gift, he is skeptical and doesn't immediately blame her, so she runs away. And that's pretty much what happens for most of the book. They get back together, he questions her again, she can't tolerate than he doesn't immediately believe her and she runs again. It became somewhat tedious. So I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first one. I'm still intrigued about the girls of Grace's Cove, though, and I'm really looking forward to learning more about Morgan.

In Book One: Wild Irish Heart, the reader is introduced to Keelin O’Brien, who travels from Boston to a small village on the coast of Southern Ireland called Grace’s Cove. Keelin meets her grandmother Fiona and learns that she, too, is part of the family’s inherited magical tradition. The cove is filled with secrets, and Keelin is determined to understand the magick found in the enchanted waters of the cove. This book sets up most of the characters for the subsequent novels.

With each new book, we’re introduced to characters found in the previous book who also possess some interesting power given by the magick of the cove. As the story progresses, we learn more of Grace, the pirate queen who bewitched the cove long ago. It is through her lineage; the women are all connected.

Incredible Series!

I am really enjoying this series. I love how the characters are each getting the chance for their stories to be told. We have gotten to see how the bonds that have been built, with the main female characters of each book, came about and how each individual female descendant from Grace O’Malley have their own special gifts. I love how the women in this series have stepped up to embrace one another, and have proven that blood doesn’t necessarily make a family, but that love does. They all have faced challenges and met them head on. Beautiful stories that are very well written as well as deeply touch the heart. Definitely recommend to anyone needing a touch of magic and love in their lives.

I am loving this author’s work, and am binging her different series. This one was not may favorite. I was not fond of the male character, and felt his rudeness, and treatment of her was a bit hard for me to like. I personally wanted the guys from the other books to haul off and give him a black eye at one point… even though he loves her, some of his behavior was not acceptable, and I feel he was ‘let off the hook’ to easily for some serious infractions. But, the female, and the support characters were well done, and as always love Fiona. I recommend that you read this book definitely before the next as you are introduced to Morgan, and she is a fabulous character that you do not want to miss.

3.5 rounded up.

This is the first book in the series that doesn’t feel quite as much like a standalone novel. The book starts in the middle of them taking their relationship to the next level, but their meet cure was in book 2.

This one is about an artist Aislinn and a psychiatrist Baird who have an opposites attract troupe. They never really could figure out how to connect and see each other eye-to-eye, but the all-powerful lust and glowing blue light of the cove says it’s true love, so it’s got to be, right?! Plus a visit from a ghost always puts things in perspective… Baird even left that encounter not being a true believer. I’m still not fully convinced that these two are fit for each other.

The third installment of Tricia O’Malley’s Mystic Cove series introduces us to Aislinn, a gifted artist with Grace’s bloodline, and Dr. Baird Delaney, a skeptical psychiatrist caught between logic and legend. What an interesting pair to come together!

I’m really enjoying this series—it’s light, engaging, and just the right mix of romance, mystery, and a touch of spice. Each book continues to weave in the magic and charm of Ireland, which has stirred up fond memories of my time living there. That nostalgic connection has been my favorite part of reading these. This one took me back to Ross Castle in Galway. There’s something truly enchanting about the way O’Malley brings the island to life!

I have to say that I absolutely adore this series. Being an Irish American, I have dreamed of moving to Ireland and living the rest of my life in a small village such as the one in this series. Being Irish, I have a gift for a bit of the blarney, I easily accept magic and the unexplainable as second nature so any stories with it, I thoroughly enjoy. If the storline has a basis in fact or lore, even better. If you love all things Irish, if you accept the unexplained or if you just love a good love story, this series has it all for you. I believe you will be as hooked as I am, right from Book 1, page 1.

I wanted to give this series a try because I really enjoyed Tricia O’ Malley’s Althea Rose Series and I love stories set in Ireland. Unfortunately, this series just did not deliver.

This book started off so well but it fell apart half way through. Aislinn is a really interesting character but it’s Braid that I have a problem with. For a psychologist he sure has immature reactions. I just found the characters actions too unrealistic. I also found the whole story kind of silly and boring. This book just was not my cup of tea.

This book has been my favorite of the series so far.

Baird’s character is very relatable. He is a science-minded individual who believe in the explainable. Of course, nothing is that easy and he needs to be pushed out of his comfort zone in his relationship with Aislinn.

I enjoyed all of the characters in this book and they way they developed. This was also a quick read for me as it flowed really well from beginning to end. O’Malley’s writing is so descriptive that I felt as if I were in the scenes of the story.

I absolutely loved this book!
It was so interesting when Aislinn meets up with the psychologist, who lookes at everything from a scientific viewpoint, where she comes from a very artistic/magical side of the fence.
I totally understand Baird's point of view as I am a retired science teacher. Also the poor guy is surrounded by people who have special abilities or already believe that the cove is magical. He has no idea what he is walking into!
Make sure you have enough time to read this book as you probably won't be able to put it down!!!

This one was not my favorite in the series. I felt it kind of dragged in the middle a bit but had an excellent finish. I enjoyed the story but felt like I had to push through the middle harder to get to the wonderful end result.

Overall the characters are wonderful and magical. Their stories are beautiful and Grace OMalley is a unique story background that brings the air of magic and mystery to the story. With ghosts, powers and the mysterious cove this book is sure to draw your attention.

Can't wait to see what is in store for the village of Mystic Cove.

This is a fun series. Each book is exiting to see which power you will see. The only issue for me was the MMC dragged the information. After a while it was come on. Is this really going on and on. At some point I just wanted it to do something between them. I don’t think it dragged but there were moments I kept thinking again we are doing it again. Although it is fun that all the other characters are in each book which helps the story. I will have to wait until the series is over to see where this falls in my favorite.
