When he found himself in an alternate version of the USA, with geography that barely made sense, and history so similar yet so different, Alexander thought he had been through it all. Yet that was just the start. Before he could get his bearings, he found himself stuck in a time loop.
Every Sunday, the same events, the same faces, the same city. Over thousands of cycles, he mastered all there was. Uncovered the secrets and deepest desires of the rich and powerful— Though the fun of it soon faded. Turning into boredom, then madness. Then attempts to all options tested—even death. All failed.
Until, one day, time finally moved.
After a night of fucking things up, Alexander wakes to something Monday. Now, he finds himself hunted by the mafia, with the daughter of a business tycoon in his bed, and nothing to his name. Yet for the first time in centuries, he feels alive.
It doesn’t hurt that a game-like system that allows him to control his time reset has finally awakened.
Disclaimer: This book contains graphic violence, the start of a large harem and spicy scenes.
This book was interesting, though it gets a bit off the rails with how much the MC can do. He's really OP in so many ways it's kind of absurd. This book is set in an alternate reality of NYC, because the author is I guess British and this way he can explain any mistakes as "it's different in this reality". This includes the U.S. apparently having adopted the metric system, as all measurements are in metric.
The MC is a 22yr old man that has spent the last 10,000 years worth of single days (3,650,000 days, ignoring leap days apparently) doing the Groundhog thing, where at 4AM he falls asleep and wakes back up at 7AM the same day. So he's spent all those days mastering every known language he can, becoming the best at just about everything he can, and banging the hottest women in NYC according to his quantification system. He knows every secret of every big player in the city. This allows him to seduce a woman he just meets, because he knows everything that will make her willing to do so. Then, after seducing a woman he hadn't planed to seduce on that 3,650,000 day, he wakes up and now has a "system" and the day has finally advanced. Since he blabbed about his stuck on the same day forever, she's not too happy to wake up next to him initially.
There are 2 key women in the story. One is someone he doesn't initially plan to seduce, because he doesn't like her makeup. But after she takes it off, she's much better and now meets is criteria, one of which is apparently a massive chest. She's a virgin, and the author has zero clue where the hymen is located, so that sex scene was ruined for me. The second he hasn't slept with yet (though he has dozens of times over those 10K years apparently), but she's now using him as her boyfriend to fend off an arranged marriage, and she's intrigued by him.
The plot is pretty slapdash, but the underpinning is fascinating. The book has already had lots of corrections, and it's still a mess for typos and incomplete sentences. But I'll try the next book just to see how it goes. Considering the 2nd woman may be a virgin as well, it could be 2 for 2 ruined sex scenes.
So, what if ‘Groundhog Day’, but he never grew out of his asshole phase? The opener is him using his 10,000 years of experience in manipulating people to pressure a literal high school girl into sleeping with him. A cheap, sleazy asshole. I really didn’t like it.
I liked this more than I thought I would. It is groundhog day on steroids. Guy has spent 10,000 years in a time loop. He tried everything to get out, even tried to kill himself hundreds of times but it didn't work. He decided to just learn as much as he could.
This is a good read for people who like insanely OP MCs
I really like the idea of the story. But the MC can do and knows just about anything and everything that it seems weird he can get it done within 24 hours even if he had 10k years to do so. Most characters are honestly bland. The MC is cocky and without flaw but doesn’t really have a personality. Jasmine is probably the most interesting character but not by much. The intrigue and political machinations is good enough to keep my interest but it’s very bland overall. The author writes like English is their 3rd language and the way people speak is just weird. There’s also a lot of grammatical errors but easily ignorable outside of character names being misused. If you’re here for smut you’ll also be thoroughly disappointed. 1 scene is all you get in this whole book. And while that scene was pretty good, it’s not much of a smut book along with its bland characters and story
I can't in good conscience give this more than 3 stars because it's clearly written by an amateur who has a long ways to go before they reach even the B-tier. It's basically a Chinese light novel with all the "brother" and "boss" titles being thrown around, along with many minor issues commonly found in such novels. However, it was entertaining. I was able to get passed the light novel aspect and enjoy the story and characters. The MC is actually pretty good and once his time loop is broken, he does ridiculous shit all the time. That's also why this is only 3 stars - every time there's a climax for a situation, he pulls out literal magic to overcome it. The author says "he's really fast!" but what he did is literally impossible given the setting provided, which is a major flaw. Still, it was fun, so I'll be reading the next one.
Wow, I have just finished the 6th book in this series, and I know this is said often, but I honestly couldn't put them down. I initially thought, "Oh yeah, Groundhog Day, seen the film." I so nearly didn't read the first book, with its cartoon cover and what appeared to be an obvious plot. I couldn't have been more wrong. Masterful storytelling, kinda like a who-done-it, but where you know something went down, but you can't quite figure out what until all the moving parts become exposed. So intelligent, and in a direction I had not even begun to guess. Everything I want from a series, so from me a 5-star review. I'd give this series more if I could. Yes, it has some very adult moments, but hey, that's OK I am an adult. Book seven is likely out in December, according to the author.
An interesting premise, Alexander goes through a very long ground hog day, when he breaks free he puts years of skills and knowledge to work. There are a few plot holes, but most are resolved, but others, need work. Yes this is an alternative time line/world but selling women as chattel is reprehensible. Given the circumstances I have already developed a half dozen ways that Jasmine could remove gramps from the board. As for Jasmine, she is a confused character, is she ruthless or submissive, those two identities don't play well together. I man curious how the author digs out of this.
Groundhog day on steroids, with some nominal gamelit elements. I understand from the 10K years of re-living the same day that the MC could have many skills and a shitload of info on the major players. The "system" provides some hand-wavy mechanism for his eidetic memory, but it's all too facile.
The story has some potential, but this is too low risk for the MC to really challenge him. Hopefully as he moves farther from the day he replayed >3 million times that he'll be stretched enough to insert a bit of tension into the story. I'll try book 2 and make a decision from there.
This was actually a very good book. I like the labeled spice chapter. It's a simple thing the authors can do to help the reader. I personally love well used spice and will always read it, but it can be skipped in this story if the reader doesn't enjoy it without losing too much story. And what a story is, i love our MC. He comes off extremely cocky (as he should), and almost all of his interactions made me laugh. I was on the fence about reading this book, but now I'm immediately going to the next one
We meet the protagonist at the end of his ten thousand years of running the same day over and over again. He’s learned a lot in his time in the loop and is ready to LIVE once he’s out of it. It’s truly fun seeing what evolves with the knowledge he’s gained.
There are some pronoun and name inconsistencies and some other minor errors that would’ve been caught by a good copy editor; however, the plot odd good and the characters are developing nicely. I look forward to reading the next book.
Okay, let’s get this out of the way: Version 2.0 still has, like, a bazillion errors. I started keeping notes, but gave up after 30 or so. If that will keep you from enjoying an incredible book - move on.
But the story! Even KNOWING it’s fiction, you can’t help but be amazed by Alexander. It’s difficult to comprehend the horrors of his existence up to this point.
And even at the end of the book, you have no clue about his motivations. What makes him tick. What does he truly want now?
The MC is a beast. Actually a Super-compentent fixer. After repeating the same day for 10,000 years, he has mastered so many skills that he is simply ridiculous. All to keep from being bored. Now that he's broken out of the time loop, its time to live a little, while not knowing what the next day will bring. And, he's still got an incredible cheat code to use, if he needs it.
I had mad fun with this book. Its been a long time i read a book while not caring about the characters or the plot or progression with only the fun of reading on my mind. Ofcourse this book has extreme OP MC and everyone in the world is downplayed by our MC immediately yes; but like i said, those features and the fact that i can enjoy this book without thinking about the seriousness of the things and plot made this book better for me.
A quite enjoyable read and I ddo look forward to further episodes in this series. That said, for further works, please engage tow or three more proof readers, preferably folkss with fresh eysee to aid in eliminating the scattered typos and gramatical erors. Bon chance.
While not really bad, it is written like a old manwah. The MC is certainly a morally grey person, and is not always like a be because of his arrogant attitude. Almost everyone reacts to the MC in the most stupid way possible just so he can use his knowledge to prove himself.
Near Omniscient MC who can turn any situation to his benefit due to the plot structured that way —it's ridiculous, but fun.
It reads like a Web Novel, so my expectations aren't high. Is it believable? Not really, is it written well? Nope, but is it fun to listen to while you're doing your quotidian? Yes! 4.5/5
I really enjoyed the story, but some editing is needed. There were thoughts and ideas that crashed because they were not expressed correctly. If the author can not afford a (semi)pro editor, i would suggest posting on Royal Road, the community there are very helpful in spotting errors/typos etc.
Absolute crazy story idea, but pieced together with well wriiten words & a great pacing to create a really enjoyable, engaging story that kept me reading until the end and wanting more. Absurdity meets absurdity, and the MC makes it great.
What would happen after breaking the endless ‘Ground Hog-Day’ loop? All that knowledge and skill you built up- what could you do with it? Such an imaginative concept!
This was a surprisingly underrated book! I gave this a chance thinking I can just drop it if I don’t like it, but wow it blew me away. Finished the whole book in a couple hours and need more asap! MC is OP but in the perfect way and there are so many good twists!
Good start. But grammar and world building is needed. There scene changes need to be bemtter. There needs to be more description of rooms and atmosphere. More indepth characters building as well.
Very OP with his knowledge of everything. His 'actual' power is never needed, beyond his perfect memory and psychology and infinite skills due to infinite knowledge. The harem is slow burn, though he seems to be a bit of a jerk to "get one" approved by the first woman he chases.
The author specified they set it in an alt universe so that they don't have to worry about getting this correct in world-building. I think this is a lazy choice. Why should it be NY at all? Everyone behaves in a very South Korean style of mob behaviour and communication. Why can't the story be set in South Korea or a completely fictional world? The only other reason it seems to be set in NY is because they are using American names. I think if you want an ALT version you need to do more world-building on why everyone is behaving so vastly different, or else should study the actual culture more (For example a movie that tried to take on how the historical gangs in NY behaved came from the study of the famous 5 points of NY which was a melting pot of immigrants and poverty a place where gangs and the mob would have started up and grown from there.)
