SWEET BLOOD OF MINE
Justin's best friend wants to murder him and use his blood to raise a vampire army. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. The girl Justin falls for might be sworn to toss him in supernatural jail. His parents are hiding dangerous secrets from him. And a feline shifter wants to have her way with him. Let's hope she likes to lick more than scratch. On the upside, Justin's got some nifty new powers. The problem is he might not survive long enough to learn them. And Atlanta will be ground zero for a vampire takeover.
DARK LIGHT OF MINE
Hellhounds and demon spawn are out for blood. Justin's father is marked for death.
Justin and Elyssa have to track down the mysterious person behind it all before it's too late.
FALLEN ANGEL OF MINE
During an escape from the gray men, Justin and Elyssa are stranded in Thunder Rock with a notorious Daemas, Kassallandra. They find a way out, but Justin is separated, thrown through a broken Obsidian Arch, and ends up in Colombia where he'll face his greatest challenge yet.
Meanwhile, Elyssa is captured by her father. He hates Daemos and hates Justin and wants to put her through a ritual that will erase all memories of Justin.
Death can't stop true love, but a mind wipe probably will.

This one started out seeming stereotypically YA, one of those ugly boy in love with popular girl transforms into gorgeous super-type reads. Don't worry though, this one gets a lot better, especially into the second book. The characters evolve, even the supporting cast, the world is slowly developed into a full blown otherworld, and the action just keeps going.

There is actually so much action and plot/sub plot revelation that I had a hard time remembering which plot we were working on sometimes. There will be more to the series, it would seem, but not because the book ended in an agonizing cliffhanger. Instead, the author wisely left more things to be done in the next chapter of overall story.

Terrific duo

This supernatural fantasy series is terrific it is chalked full of types of supernatural fantasy characters that I couldn't have imagined on a good imagination day. The author is definitely creative and has a talent for mixing fantasy with reality.
The fact that the author can make the main characters loveable to the reader is beyond comprehension. Who would guess they would be wanting a demon spawn an Half-Life to come out on top? But then who would think magician s used smartphones to amp up there spells or that werewolves could fall head over heels in love with a were at? You have to read this to believe it. The young teenagers have to try and stop the war from breaking loss in the magical supernatural world to avoid it ending the normal world. All while trying to save, rescue and keep the people they love and families alive and from killing each other. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading vampire diaries or Twighlight series . These are definitely aimed at an age group of above 13. Good young adult to adult read

Exceptional "Two" Book Series

I am someone that is quite stingy with five-star reviews, but find myself feeling like five stars is not enough for this imaginative series.

If you are a "Potter" fan or not you will love these books. Well developed characters, settings, and bcc dialogue will suck the reader right into this world. Readers will find they become totally lost, so much so that they will be surprised when they turn that last page. But wait! It's okay. There are ten books total in this series. Yes, I heard your sigh.

I am not going to even give you a glimpse into these two books as I feel it's only fair for you to experience them with no prejudice or for that matter knowledge at all.

This is a "great" older end YA/Adult series though due to its sexual suggestive scenes and some well deserved violence and language. I would definitely recommend it to readers.

Erm...

Yes, I loved it, but there's a distinct relationship to books like Twilight, the Rick Riardon (sorry, don't know how to spell that bit) books, (Heroes of Olympia, etc.), and a twinge of Harry Potter. I have tried, and know that to create a science fiction series is hard without sapping off others in the genre.
The main character is deep, in his own way. When you finish the book, you look back and say, "Seriously? Are you sure Justin at the beginning is the same as the one at the end?" He grew up, overnight.
I wish most people did that.
And I will unashamedly say that I am a fantasy nerd, too. So, bully for us, the characters are fully relatable. Who doesn't wish for that untouchable person, and later the One True Love?

This book is a creative twist on the mythical creatures like were wolves, vampires, and billions more. When Justin Case, an overweight nerd, turns into a spawn, or Daemos he starts to run into the mythical creatures of the Overworld. John Corwin has outdone himself on the creation of so many different creatures and twists on classic monsters. Great read and I cant wait to finish this 12-book series!

Really great series

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series. It may be a young adult series, but is written so well that an adult would have no trouble enjoying it as well. It's full of action and suspense, and I can't wait to read the next book.

As usual totally awesome!!!

I don’t write a lot of reviews because I don’t sound all polished and stuff when I wrote them. However this series has me gasping, giggling and almost crying by turns. I actually even got the audiobook so I could listen to it in the car when I can’t read. I can’t wait to see what happens next!!!

An Excellent Read x3

John Corwin first caught my eye with "To Kill A Unicorn. " and its sequels. Naturally, I kept a lookout for more of this outstanding writer's work, and I was rewarded. The "Overworld Chronicles" series is everything I wanted in urban Fantasy and a bag of teen-age angst to boot. Keep 'em coming!

Quit almost from the start…

1600+ page book with double spacing throughout makes it more like 1200 pages and drove me nuts. Well seems like a good story but to use double spaces for whatever reason - increase page count? - yeah, I don’t think so. Even though may have been a good story, I didn’t trust it.

Incredibly Misogynistic

I read the first eleven chapters and couldn’t get over how incredibly misogynistic the main character is! Absolutely disgusting how he treats the women.

Whew.
Where to begin?

Let's start with the audiobook narrator. Austin Rising did a great job here. He has an impressive facility with both voices and accents, with even his female voices being very good. His vocal inflections were largely spot on, and his tempo shifts were subtle but effective.

Okay, story.
First, let me just say that based on the first book in this 3-book set alone, I almost stopped reading. The main reasons being, 1) the over-emphasis on sexuality and eroticism was extremely annoying. It is central to the identity of at least one character, but it could have been accomplished in a way that didn't make me feel like I was reading the fan-fic of a hormonally charged 12-year-old. 2) Justin comes off as a total creep. 3) Much of the humor is super-juvenile. Like what I would expect to see in a middle grade book. 4) The "romance" between Justin and Elyssa is completely unbelievable. Having finished these three books, I'm convinced that it's not real. I believe his special abilities are unconsciously manipulating her emotions and that he doesn't have any idea what real love is.

Now, all that being said, after the first book it gets exponentially better in regard to everything except the supposed romance. The story gets better, and deeper, and less dependent on sexuality as it goes on.

The character building is surprisingly good. Justin's first person narration keeps things interesting, but I still don't like him as a person or as a character. It's the supporting characters that carry the story for me. Ryland, whom you meet in book two, is probably my favorite character. He's fun and stubborn and self-contradictory in all the right ways to make him believable and interesting.

In spite of almost quitting and getting a refund after the first book, I will almost certainly be continuing this series as things are now heating up and getting really interesting. I'm quite anxious to see where it's all going to go.

Highly entertaining!!💜

First let me just say that I am new to this author & narrator but not for long.
Absolutely brilliant. From the first page I was was engaged. As someone who was bullied in school I could totally relate to Justin. This series has taken me on a journey that is wildly imaginative and magical. So many fun and creative characters and I love them all. Witty comebacks and snarky comments had me laughing. Some situations had me anxious or somewhat surprised. Great storyline.
Let’s talk narration. Austin Rising is absolutely brilliant. His ability to voice so many different characters seamlessly is amazing. I feel that John Corwin and Austin are a perfect fit. I will definitely be continuing on in this series and I can’t wait.
This review is for the box set books 1-3. Although this is a continuing story, so far there have been no major cliffhangers between books.
I highly recommend this series.

Overworld Chronicles

Addicting. Although it's a little too sappy for my taste, there are really cheesy romance scenes.. I love the imagination and made up worlds.
