Lucy Eaton had a job she loved as a Teaching Assistant at a Special Needs School and a boyfriend who struggled with commitment issues. Life was good, not great, but good, until one day Lady luck paid Lucy a visit and a life that most people could only dream of opened up to her. With the creases of everyday life ironed out she could sit back and live the dream.
But what if that dream doesn't turn out to be what you thought you wanted? Want and need are two very different things. The head wants, but the heart needs, and as generous and fortuitous as life can be, it can also be incredibly cruel. No one gets to live a creaseless life. That is something Lucy will soon discover.
Born in the heart of England to two devoted parents he enjoyed a happy, loving childhood. Not long after completing his further education he set off on a worldwide adventure visiting various places around the globe, but it was New Zealand that stole his heart. It was here that he discovered his creative side with amateur dramatics, and he made several brief appearances in national soap operas. After 5 years he returned to England and discovered his passion for writing. He wrote several unpublished children's books, but had a vision for a book that would take him on an exciting journey. He also lives with his close companion Carver Jnr his cuddly pup that features in many of his humorous Facebook updates. He enjoys keeping fit, long walks in the fresh air and spending time with close family and friends.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Lucky Numbers. I had already read Whiter than White by G.G.Carver and loved it so was excited to read Lucky Numbers. Lucy Eaton's life is good, she has a job she loves as a Special Needs Teaching assistant and her life is comfortable. One fateful day during a crystal ball reading she is given a sequence of numbers, her life then changes over night!! Decisions are made by her, are they the right ones???Will they lead her to where she is exactly mean't to be??? Only time will tell!!! I can not express how much I love this book, it is full of spine tingling scenes the descriptiveness was so good that I felt as though I was there in the scenes. Lucky Numbers really got to me, there were scenes that had me laughing out loud and others that turned me into an emotional wreck, this book took me on an awesome journey with the characters and I loved every minute!! G.G.Carver is a master at developing twists in a story that keep you guessing until the every end. Congratulations G.G.Carver on another fantastic book!!
I was given an ARC in return for an honest review. So here it is.
I really loved this book. Although, it kept me awake at night and made me cry. I could not put this book down. I always love the male characters in books but I really loved Lucy. She was a very believable character. The sexual tension between her and Joseph was very apparent, and made for a very exciting read. Mr. Carver has a great way with words. I normally don't like books to be too descriptive because they can go a little over the top. It makes me want to skim through those pages. But not in this book. I love the way he describes everything. Really makes you feel what the characters are going through. I can't recommend this book enough. It's among my favourites now
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Lucy Eaton has a good life and a job she loves as a special needs teaching assistant one afternoon something happens that will change the course of Lucy's life forever.
GG Carver has done an amazing job with this book it pulls you in immediately and just when you think you know where the story is going he throws you a curve ball and it's definitely not what you expect. A fabulous 5 stars from me and I'm excited to see what he gives us next.
I was lucky to receive an arc of lucky numbers and I am so glad I read this book, GG Carver has a way of describing the characters and their lives so well that you are almost living it with them, it was an intriguing story with many twists and turns which leave you shocked, wanting more and hating the actual author! this book is a 5* must read!
This is a story about Lucy Eaton, a special needs teaching assistant. She loves her job but she's not content with her life. Especially one ex, Mark, that bounds in and out of her life. Lucy is shopping at the local market one day and is drawn to a gypsy style looking caravan where she meets Lady Lavinia. Lucy listens to her fortune being told and seems sceptical. Especially when eight numbers are revealed to her. What could they mean? Was Lucy's life about to change dramatically as her future was apprised?
Quote ~ "Make a difference to what? What battle lies ahead? I don't understand."
Lucy's luck does change dramatically and along in the mix of all the goings on is her ex Mark who seeps his way back into her life. I must say that in the first quarter of the book, I wanted to smack my Kindle over Lucy's head for not seeing Mark as I saw him. I did not warm to this guy and felt that the book was edging on 4 stars rather than 5. This shows how good the writing is to make you feel that depth of feeling for these characters and as time went on in the story, I totally loved Lucy. She is funny and caring and very compassionate.
Lucy hires a father and son business to help renovate her garden, George and Joseph Dalton. The meeting between Lucy and Joseph was hilarious and I certainly had laugh out loud moments. I loved a lot of the characters in this story, especially the sweet little boy, Sam who attended the school Lucy worked at. The two seemed to have a very close connection, and Lucy felt sad at the end of the day when he went home as it was evident all was definitely not well.
I wasn't sure where it would lead to for Lucy... bless her. She has such a good heart and deserves every happiness. However, it became clear others would take advantage of her goodness. Then I saw a lot of strength in her fighting for what she really wanted because her only wish was to be happy. Morals abound in this story which just goes to show what is probably for most us, what is more important in life.
Trying to guess what was behind every chapter in this story full of mystery made this emotional roller-coaster read even better. And how everything was going to eventually unfold only added to its enchantment for me. I laughed at some scenes, my heart beat fast and broke in others. Yes, hot scenes and scary moments is edge of your seat stuff, too. I really do not want to give too much of the plot away or the characters involved; nevertheless, I do implore you readers to put this on your TBR list. This exceptional read being GG Carver's second book has convinced me so much that he has become one of my favourite authors. I look forward to reading future works and would certainly read Lucky Numbers again, as I will his previous work. A massive congratulations on another masterpiece.
Ready for a rollercoaster ride? This book encompasses all the emotions a human being can feel. From laughter and merriment to devastation and regret this book is a journey of emotions. The main theme I would say is that of loyalty, love, and most of all, having the maturity to recognize what is most important in life.
Lucy Eaton is a special needs teaching assistant. As such, she is a kind and involved guide to children in need of the support only she can give. She loves her job nurturing and teaching these children how to integrate and survive in a world that not always understands them. Her life is good. She is married to a man that she loves and all is pretty much easy going. One fateful day changes all when they end up winning a lottery and her life will never be the same. We hear all the time how money changes people. In this case, we get to experience first hand how money affects this marriage and the people involved.
Looking at life through Lucy's eyes, we journey with her as priorities shift around her, decisions are made for her, and finally how she transforms into a stronger woman full of determination and the right priorities. This is also a love story. It is the story of the love for children, for self, and also the love for a special someone who fulfills you like no other.
Once again, G. G. Carver has regaled us with a story from the heart. I thank him for sharing a copy of his story with me.

As I'd already read whiter than white by this author I was extremely excited to read lucky numbers. Firstly, a note to the author, G, where was the yogurt?.. Lol. If you have read whiter than white then you know what I'm referring too, if not then your missing out, it's a must read. Now, onto the book in hand, LUCKY NUMBERS, totally blew me away. The story was very well written, the connection between the characters was electrifying. you'll be on a huge rollercoaster ride from start to finish. It's emotional, grab your tissues, you'll need them. this story covers some aspects that are very close to my heart, stuff I can relate to, these subjects were very well written. I could go on forever but I won't, I will just say that this is totally a must read, you'll love it just as much as I do.
well done Mr carver, you've produced another amazing book
I absolutely love, love this book!! G G Carver has done another amazing job of writing a story that pulls you into it from the very first chapter. He takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions from laughter and love to anger and angst. I couldn't put this one down and had to know what was going to happen to Lucy right from the very start. The characters are well developed and the story leaves you wanting more. The words convey such emotion that you feel just what the characters are feeling as you are taken on their journey. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a beautifully written book with a fantastic story behind its cover, a MUST READ!! Thank you G G Carver for another fantastic story!!! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next time G!!
This new book from G G Carver will stir many emotions in the reader. It will make you laugh - it will break your heart in places - it will pull your heart-strings and it will make you feel that love is all you could wish for. Lucy can move your feelings as she is so beautifully natured and loving but she will frustrate you too she leaves herself open to be hurt. There are wonderful characters in this book too - and some to make you feel quite violent. Like I said - you will run the gauntlet with this tale and our feelings will scale the ladders up and down. Whatever else - you will enjoy a work well written by an author who continues to produce excellent books.
5 stars - GG Carver does it again :-) X I was lucky enough to be given an ARC copy of G G Carvers new book. Having read and loved his first offering, Whiter than White, I devoured this book and yet again loved it. It’s a fantastic story that goes to show money can’t always buy happiness. I fell in love with the characters and felt like they were old friends by the end of the book. It was a roller coaster of emotions with a fantastic story line and just the right amount of sexy without being erotica for erotica’s sake. Thank you G for once more taking us on the ride with you!
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Lucky Numbers and i am so glad i did, this book had so many twists and turns and a good romance story which wants you craving more, it is a complete emotional roller coaster and at one point i hated G.G Carver for making me a wreck but i forgave him for giving me such a great book. Lucky numbers is G.Gs 2nd book and as with Whiter than White he has a way of dragging you into a book as if i was actually there, he is very descriptive and i loved the way i felt like i knew the characters by the time i had read it! This book is a must read!!
This was my first opportunity to read a book by GG Carver but after meeting him at the Birmingham signing in July I couldn't wait to get stuck in.
The story of Lucy, a truly selfless and caring woman who works at Special Education school has no desire to change her lifestyle - or not to the extent of her long term parter.
But after a visit to a psychic she is left puzzled. However a lucky win would see the pair not having to worry financially ever again. --------- Excerpt: On paper they had everything going for them, yet they had never been further apart. --------
Their relationship was rocky and truthfully I wanted to punch x?x alot throughout the book...but upon a new house leads Lucy to the Daltons. The father and son duo are a force to be reckoned with and will mould into your heart and stay there.
Lucy's attraction to Dalton Jnr - Joseph will be the story for then duration. With a little boy, Sam being thrown into the mix (through her work at school), we see Lucy and Joseph join forces for the heart wrenching journey of their struggle to help someone so in need but being unable to do so.
But in Lucy's darkest hour, Lucy has the opportunity to fix her dwindling relationship or choose an alternative avenue. But which door would she choose? Joseph has a lot of emotional baggage but as a very closed man we learn little about him initially. But will Lucy push him too far?
Excerpt: Love is no fairy-tale White knight that sweeps you off your feet. It's more like a black knight in a black steed. It will charge into your life, honouring you with its presence or smiting you with its parting...
Needless to say this is a brilliant story showing that money couldn't truly buy happiness. Because the heart wants what it wants. Lucky as ever goes above and beyond in my expectations in her dealing with certain circumstances throughout the story. Her immeasurable strength, character and sheer humbleness is heart capturing. I truly adored every page. ---------- Excerpt: Each of these little incidents took another vote out of her love for him and right now it was looking pretty ravaged...Lucy's journey in life no longer seemed defined as it once was... ----------
I have heard so many good things about GG Carver and his writing. And I was not disappointed. There are so many incredible characters. I have to admit, Mark is a bit of an ass. He doesn't appreciate Lucy and certainly doesn't appreciate the things he has been given. Joseph is a complex man. One minute he is amazingly adorable and sweet. Then the next, he is ladies man looking for his next hook up. He has a past. Something happened that holds him back from Lucy. Then there is Sebastian. A cocky man that believes himself to be God's gift to women. And he is confident that Lucy will fall... right under him. But I dare say that Sam is my favourite. He is a small six year old child with autism. He is sweet, innocent and your heart melts. But home life for him is not easy.
The story has some incredible lines like this one: *"Pursue happiness. It doesn't always like to be caught, but never let it out of your sight and never give up on it."*
And boy does GG Carver know how to surprise! The truth comes out about Mark and I can't believe it! And Charles... I never saw that coming either. And George! Poor Lucy. And poor Joseph! I don't know how much more I can take! So many surprises and twists that make you question your previous thoughts! There are also some steamy moments, funny moments and sweet moments to steal your heart.
What I love about male authors is their unique take on things. The female mind, the male mind and everything in between. I love seeing the world through their eyes. If you haven't read a male author yet, go and try it today! You'll love what they can show you. GG Carver is no exception. His writing is elegant and fluid. It is so effortless that it flows seamlessly and you slip right into the pages. I think what I took from this book is that what we want isn't always what we need. So getting everything you possibly want isn't always the best. Because when we get what we want, we might realise that it wasn't really what we wanted in the first place. Definitely a must read tale.
My Review This is the story of Lucy Eaton, she was a woman with very little to tie her to the world, a struggling young person with a job that she loved and a tempestuous relationship with an ex. She found herself inexplicably drawn to a fortune teller that told her some startling, and some-what mystifying, home truths. That night her ex bf comes over for dinner and with the fortune tellers words in mind...her whole world begins to change. How do you review a story that has stroked your soul? How do you find an adequate turn of phrase to express how a story has had you curled into a ball feeling every single emotion that the lead has felt? I very rarely cry, or emotionally relate to a story...but Mr Carver has apparently become created the exception. There's a little boy called Sam, he has autism and his ''side story'' grabbed hold of my heart and refused to let go, Autism is a condition that is very close to my heart for numerous reasons and Carvers portrayal of Sam was spot on! He neither glamorised the condition, nor did he focus on the limitations of the little boy...he saw past it and showed us this amazing child who just happens to have autistic traits, for that alone...he deserves a commendation! The book on the whole was exceptionally well written, while fast paced, at no point did it seem rushed, I have no idea how Mr Carver has managed to fit in so many details and sub plots into one storyline! i defy anyone to read this and have a lull in interest! i found it provocative, intense and as emotionally charged as the second before you step off of the platform on a bungee jump, pure exhilaration. An absolute whirlwind of a read! Thank you so much G! 'Lucky Numbers' has stolen a piece of my heart and fed my soul. 5 entirely well deserved stars and my Book of the Year to date!

How can these two really be partners? Each wants different things from life.
Enters a beautifully, haunted man and his father. Lucy’s new gardeners! Joseph pulls Lucy in a way that no one ever has, but she is committed to Mark. The more time Lucy spends with Joseph the stronger the need becomes. Mark has started pulling away again, like he has done in the past. Maybe it is time for both of them to move on. Are there secrets that Mark is keeping from Lucy? Is there a chance for Lucy to find true love with Joseph? Read this intriguing story and find out what happens in this triangle of would be love!

***Received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review***
This was my first book by GG Carver and I loved every minute! It literally grabbed me right from the start with Lucy and the fortuneteller. From that very moment, I was trying to piece together the parts the lady told her but then nothing was happening. Actually everything was falling into place for her and her boyfriend Mark. Everything they could have ever wanted was laid at their feet. But things don’t always stay that way. Over time people’s feelings change and sometimes it’s hard to continue to sweep feelings under the rug.
I loved Lucy. She is such a sweet and compassionate person and would do anything for anyone. Mark on the other hand… WOW he was something else that’s for sure. I stayed so mad at him for over 90% of the book. Then when Lucy least expects it George and Joseph enter her life. From this point on, things are a struggle for Lucy. Not only was Lucy fighting her feelings, Mark was also hiding things, and Joseph was fighting his own demons. There were times I didn’t think anyone would get an HEA. There are also parts that made my heart hurt so bad… especially a little boy named Sam. I don’t like to give away spoilers so you definitely have to read this story to get the full effect of everything. One-minute things are going great and then BAM all of a sudden my emotions were just all over the place. I read this book within just a few hours because I needed to know what was going to happen. The last 10% made my heart skip a beat. This is a fantastic book and I look forward to the next book from GG!
I was asked to review Lucky Numbers for G.G Carver.
Unfortunately I have not read any of this brilliant authors books before, however, after reading this book I will certainly add him to my MUST READ author list.
As soon as I received this book I dove right in not knowing what to expect and what I found was an author who describes things to such an extent you feel as if you are actually a fly on the wall watching everything unfold. I was hooked and could no put this book down.
We have the story of Lucy Eaton, she has a good life, a job she loves teaching special needs children which in itself is awe inspiring and all round she feels her life is going well, however, after an experience at a crystal ball reading her life changes, how, you may ask, well you will have to read to find out …….. Yes I like to tease.
Lucy has as everyone does in life, important decisions to make which may or may not change her life, the problem is are they right for her. Will they give her what she is looking for?
This book will not only make you laugh your socks off but it will also evoke other emotions within you. I am not ashamed to admit that I did cry so much with this book but also had a peace about me as continued to read such amazing chapters.
G.G Carver has you going through the wringer with this book, his writing is superb, the twists and turns you experience while reading this is a true testament to how good the story is.
I would urge all our followers to add this book to your TBR lists and get reading you will not be sorry. I know I am not.
Firstly is like to say thank you G for giving reading the sheets the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this story, the characters, although slow in the beginning, progressed into being the phenomenal characters that I fell in love with in the end. It's a story about life, love, friendship, it's struggles and the Deamons that we all have to hide in our closets, but sometimes, letting someone in can be the greatest blessing of all time.
Lucy is a fun loving girl who has an on and off again relationship with Mark. They are one one of their regular 'breaks' when Lucy stumbles into a gypsy cavern and hears the story of her life mapped out by lady Lavinia. Being a little freaked by the encounter, Lucy heads home and gets ready to reacquaint herself with the 'new and improved' Mark.
Mark is confused, angry and ready for love. Maybe not a great combination but this guy has more heart than I first thought and I'm sure you'll eventually fall for his egotistical charms.
Mark and Lucy's night-in goes from mundane to spectacular, their lives are turned upside down in an instant and this is where the roller coaster begins.
Along their journey we meet George, a beautiful souled gardener who treats Lucy like the daughter he never had. We see his son Joseph who has a face that makes all women swoon, even the lovely Lucy. We meet Mr. St. Clair that isn't all that he sees, and his unusual wife that has no desire for anyone. This story, along with its twists and turns will have you hooked!
This book certainly packs a punch. Certainly not a quick read, Lucky Numbers gives you so much in a sweet package.
Lucy is quite the heroine. she is the most strong-willed push-over I have ever read about. It's so interesting (and realistic) how she is so willing to settle for the less than perfect man/relationship, barely makes a peep over some overt sexual invitations she is not interested in, and yet would fly to the moon and back for the happiness of the children she works with.
How many of us put our passions or family or whatever before ourselves? I'm guessing a lot. The way Carver expressed this through Lucy was so well done - you want to hug her, smack her, and cry with her all within a few chapters!! Her relationship with Mark (though unhealthy) will make readers think and pull at heartstrings. Over and Over.
Now Joseph is so dang awesome. I just freaking LOVED him! Broody, masculine, good with his hands (wink wink lol), and tortured.... just the way I like my hero. The build up of his past really gets you going and makes you beyond curious, so the lingering worry that I would be let down was certainly in the back of my mind. I was so NOT let down.
Overall, I really enjoyed Lucky Numbers and recommend it for those who appreciate a slower burn with a more realistic feel.
I give 3.5 stars (don't want to round down that's not nice)
I was given an ecopy by the author for an honest review.
This is the first book I have read by GG Carver and I really can't wait to read more.
This is a long book but is written in such a way that I kept turning the pages and really didn't want it to end.
The story wove together beautifully and the writing was so descriptive, I could envision everything in my head, from the crazy mess of the garden to the weird and creepy caravan of the fortune teller and everything in between. I really cant praise the writing of this book enough, it was flawless.
Lucky Numbers is one of those books that's more than just a story, it has you thinking about the 'What ifs'... We all think that winning the lottery would be a dream come true, but what if you won the jackpot only to find that its not all its cracked up to be? What if you thought you found the man of your dreams, only to find out he wasn't who you thought he was? What if you didn't have to work any longer, but found you missed the place you worked so much that you went back and worked voluntary? These are all questions that posed in Lucky Numbers.
This book has it all; Romance, Heartbreak, lovable characters, plot twists you really don't see coming and a small boy that will melt your heart and have your eyes welling up.
I really, really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to reading more from GG Carver.
I Received a copy in exchange of an honest review for Fallen for Books Reviewers
This is the first book I've read by GG Carver and I was excited to get stuck in after reading the blurb.
Lucy - very much a girl next door, wants hearts and flowers, she is kind, loving and a very generous person. But she has also had to deal with so much heartache along the way, which shows how strong she actually is.
Mark - self centred and very much about the money and material things. He is definitely playing a game that is often at Lucy's expense and not sure what his true feelings are towards her.
Joseph - son of George the gardener has everything going for him yet seems to have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Think he's hiding secrets from his past!
This book has an abundance of humour and clever lines which had me laughing out loud, I loved especially hearing Lucy's inner thoughts. Also with the addition of Joseph's POV occasionally, this gave another depth to the story. The last quarter of the story took me on a journey of every emotion.... heartache, sadness, betrayal, love, truth and new beginnings it was a bumpy ride but worry every minute x This was for me was a solid 4* read, fantastic characters, a good story line which held all it's secrets right up until the end. I'm looking forward to reading more from GG Carver.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Lucky Numbers.
I read G G Carver's debut book Whiter than White. I absolutely loved it. I could not wait to get my hands on his next book Lucky Numbers.
I was totally blown away by this book. G G Carver can write an amazing story. I was totally drawn into this book. I felt all the emotions the character's went thru. When I thought I had it all fiqured out, bam I was so wrong. I did not want to put this book down until I knew how it ended.
This book will take you on emotional roller coaster ride that they call Lucy Eaton life. Lucy Eaton is a teacher assistant at a special needs school. She is content in her life or so she thinks. Lucy had gotten a tarot card reading from gypsy. She told her a sequence of numbers. She had no clue what the numbers mean. Mark goes out to get her cream and Lucy asks him to get her lottery ticket with those numbers. When he wins the lottery she is crushed that it was not her numbers that won. She feels fate is telling her to live out her dreams and to be content with there new life together.
Lucy still feels like there is something missing and she won't stop until she fiqures out what it is.
This book is a MUST read. I can not wait to see what G G Carver comes out with next.

Lucy Eaton had a lot in her life to be thankful for. She loved being a teaching assistant and working with special needs kids but with her twelve-year relationship stuck in a rut she couldn’t say she was truly happy. Would she ever get married and have children of her own? When an unexpected windfall seemed to bring them closer and fulfill every one of their dreams why did she still feel like something was missing?
This was a well-written story from start to finish with characters and situations that felt real and true to life. Lucy was struggling in her relationship with Mark and things didn’t get any easier when new friends entered her life. Joseph and his father were helping her transform her new home’s garden but they were also opening her mind, and heart, to new possibilities. A few of the situations and characters included in the storyline had me scratching my head at times as I wasn’t quite sure how they fit in with the overall plot. Saying that, however, the author kept me interested from start to finish with a story full of friendship, love and a little boy I wanted to take home myself.
Wow, I really don't know what to say about this book... I think wow covers it well.
This was the first book I have read by author GG Carver, and to say I loved every single word is not far from the truth. This story truly touched my heart, from the very beginning it had me laughing out loud, and on my journey with Lucy, Mark, George and especially Joseph I experienced every emotion known to man.
It has been some time since I read a book that touched my heart the way this book did, and made me cry like a baby. The author writes so beautifully, and the emotion that flowed from every page was clearly evident.
It would be impossible for me to summarise this book, but to me this was simply a book about life, nothing was romanticised, and every situation the characters found themselves in was something you could come across in real life.
To sum up, this is a beautiful story with plenty of passion, it's a very long book, but the time you'll invest is so worth it, I will definitely be reading more from Mr Carver.
I'm not quite sure where to begin with this review! GG Carver has written a masterpiece of friendship, betrayal, pain, hurt, love, and learning to live again. Mark is a man who, in the beginning, I thought was more of a prick and just self centered. But as the story goes on, you find that he is more than that, and trying to cope with the choices he has made. Lucy is a loving, caring, beautiful soul. Giving more chances than she should, yet that is just how she is. Seb, well, I didn't like his arrogant self and could see right through him from the get go. Joseph, now there is a soul who has seen it all and felt the worst kind of pain one could experience. Lost in a world that showed him true evil, will Lucy be enough to pull him from the darkness that life has thrown him into? You need to one click this one and find out. Very well written, great character development, and a story line that will captivate you from the beginning.
Just Fab. G.G just sucks you right in from the start. At times its your laughing, then angry and down right crying your eyes out. Through it all you feel like you know these people. You cant help but buckle up and take the ride. Lucy is in a relationship with her off and on again boyfriend Mark.
