Steamy Espresso Secrets

Rate this book
Barista and true crime podcaster Joss Miller is looking for her next cold case when her brother shows up unannounced in Charleston. She’s sure he’s hiding something—and her detective boyfriend, Andre Baez, seems to know exactly what it is. But neither of them is saying a word.

Before she can figure out what's going on, someone seeks out Joss with what could be the perfect story for her Cold Justice podcast. A gifted street photographer died two years ago under suspicious circumstances.

The deeper she digs, the more tangled the mystery becomes—and the closer she gets to the real reason her brother came home. If she’s not careful, Joss might uncover more than she bargained for.

I really do like this one, however, it doesn’t top Minty Flavored Trouble lol

I didnt expect the suspect to be who they were, but at the same time… I was kinda underwhelmed?? If you’ve read MFV then you’ll know how messy and on edge the plots can get. Steamy Espresso lacked that in my opinion.

I also think I’m left with more questions than answers lol?

However, I AM looking forward to the next chapter of Andre and Joss relationship 🥰.

Can’t wait to read the next one!

I love the premise of this series, solving cold cases via a podcast. And there is a Christian aspect, mentions of praying and going to church but as a non-Christian I don’t find it distracting from the story. The romance in this is fairly well done also, some cozy mysteries do very childish romances. But I thought the mystery was lacking a little bit in this one and I think it’s cause it was distracted by the distribution of drugs subplot. Which I didn’t really love. I felt weird about how her finding out someone used drugs and she kind of went who will think of the children cause he was a teacher at her art camp. Up to that point, there were other red flags (hints at potential jealousy and verbal abuse to his wife) but it was when he had a bad trip that she was like can’t expose kids to him?

That just rubbed me the wrong way. I know how hard addiction is and how it destroys life but it felt very egocentric and lacked empathy from a reaction standpoint point.

All that said, I am excited for what is next in this series the ending was very cute!

Excellent read

Excellent read, I loved the characters and storyline. Joss Miller’s podcast, explored another intriguing cold case. It’s always thought provoking to read the clues, as they unfold connecting the dots to solve the mysteries surrounding the case. It was great catching up with her family and friends. I look forward to the next installment.
