A Whole Lotto Love

Rate this book
Who doesn’t dream of winning the lottery and splurging on everything from vacation homes to the world’s largest pizza?
Maddy Graham has simpler dreams. When she wins a six-hundred-million-dollar jackpot, she doesn’t quit her job or buy an island—all she really wants is to save the run-down but full-of-heart senior center where she works. And when Miles Clark, her grumpy and gorgeous new wealth advisor, dismisses Saint Agatha’s as a money pit, Maddy will just have to prove that some places are priceless.

Miles is determined to rein in Maddy’s bleeding-heart impulses before she loses everything. But his plan to educate her on strategic philanthropy—starting with accompanying her to charity galas as her definitely-not-a-date—might be less about stewardship and more about spending time with the pretty little do-gooder he can’t stop thinking about.
He’d better get his act together fast—time is running out for St. Agatha’s and the tech billionaire/walking red flag waiting in the wings is all too happy to play prince charming to Maddy’s Cinderella if Miles isn't up to the task.

Sharp, sweet, and full of heart, this opposites-attract romance proves that true wealth isn’t measured in dollars.
A Whole Lotto Love is book 2 in the Detroiters in Love series, by comedian and author Maggie Eliot. If you enjoy a grumpy/sunshine, laugh-out-loud romcom, check out this fun, spicy story set in Detroit, featuring beloved characters from Humor Me alongside a colorful ensemble including a nutty professor, fun nuns, and outspoken senior citizens.

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book and I'm so glad I did. It was such a cute love story. Miles & Maddy's fast paced love story made it difficult to put it down! All of the characters were so fun and such an integral part of the story telling. This was a great read!

Maddy and Miles will make your heart melt!

Maddy wins hundreds of millions in the lottery. She needs a financial advisor. What she did not expect was the handsome, grumpy man telling her what to do with her life. Miles has been through a lot. He feels like he has let down other important women in his life. And he does not want that to happen again with Maddy. But will it be too much? Will he be able to get out of his own way?

I loved their story so much. He's such a grump and she is all sunshine. Their love/hate start had me wanting to shake some sense into them. The banter was there. The spice was there. The pace and plot were so good. I also loved Pal! She is the kind of girl every one needs as a friend! She was funny and honest and supportive!

I was gifted a copy of this book and I absolutely loved it! Would recommend to any one who loves a fun romance read!

This was an ARC read by Maggie Eliot. This was a cute rom com and spice levels of 3 out of 5 Chillis. The spice was appropriately used in book as an inevitable conclusion. I throughly enjoyed the book and would read more by author.

Story is about a woman who wins big in the lottery. All the adventures of being “rich”. The characters were funny and full of life. The plot was excellent and the author writes a beautiful story.

This story was cute and funny. The fact that she won the lottery and she didn’t really want to spend much to begin with and just do a few small things for loved ones made the idea of her getting connected to Miles was hilarious to begin with. I can’t wait for the next book for this series.

Reading A Whole Lotto Love felt like slipping into a warm, hilarious hug. Maggie Eliot has truly nailed the grumpy sunshine dynamic with Maddy and Miles and it works so well. Maddy is the kind of heroine you can’t help but root for: kind hearted, stubborn in the best way, and genuinely committed to making a difference with her unexpected fortune. Instead of yachts and diamonds, she chooses a crumbling senior center and a bunch of sass filled retirees. What’s not to love?

And then there’s Miles broody, buttoned up, and completely thrown off his axis by Maddy’s chaotic generosity. Watching him wrestle between doing his job and falling hard for Maddy was both endearing and funny. Their banter crackles, the chemistry simmers, and their slow burn connection had me flipping pages late into the night.

But it’s not just the romance that shines here. Eliot fills the book with a rich cast of side characters the nuns, the cranky seniors, even the rival billionaire suitor all adding charm and chaos in just the right doses. The story finds a perfect balance between heartfelt moments and laugh out loud scenes (I lost it during the charity gala fiasco).

At its core, A Whole Lotto Love is a story about community, second chances, and redefining what it means to be rich. It's spicy, smart, and completely satisfying.

Whether you’re in it for the romance, the humor, or just a feel-good ride, this book delivers in full. Highly recommended for anyone who needs a little hope and a whole lotto heart.

Thank you to the author and publisher for the ARC of A Whole Lotto Love by Maggie Eliot, releasing July 29, 2025. All opinions are my own.

What happens when an open-hearted optimist wins the lottery and meets a surly financial planner still recovering from a brutal divorce? Fireworks, of course—and not the romantic kind… at first.
Maddy Graham just won hundreds of millions in the lottery, but rather than blow it on luxury, she wants to give back—especially to her found family and beloved senior center, St. Agatha’s. Enter Miles Clark, a guarded financial advisor who’s been burned before—both personally and professionally. Their first meeting is explosive, but slowly, Miles opens up, and Maddy begins to understand his suggestions. Just when things are heating up, along comes a tech bro with slick charm and shady motives.

This book was so much fun! Maddy’s warmth, resilience, and loyalty made her instantly lovable. Miles starts off as a classic grump, but his growth was really satisfying. The chemistry? Fantastic. I especially loved the cast of side characters—from the hilarious crew at St. Agatha’s to Maddy’s viral-video friend, Hooper (who absolutely deserves a book of his own).

Though this is the second book in the Detroiters in Love series, it reads perfectly as a standalone, and now I’m eager to read the first! Eliot nails the spicy rom-com formula while weaving in found family, personal healing, and smart philanthropy.

Rounded up to ★★★★★—this one’s a winner.

A Whole Lotto Love is the second instalment in Maggie Eliot’s Detroiters In Love series. Maddie has won the lottery and needs someone to help her manage her money. She did not expect this person to be Miles - young, handsome but a big old grump!

The relationship that sparks between Maddie and Miles is grounded in reality and builds naturally. I liked Maddie’s idealised view of the world and her altruism. I found Miles a little too grumpy and his territorial attitude over Maddie a bit too much at times, but I warmed to him eventually. The real stars of this show though are the residents of St. A’s! I love the way Maddie interacts with them and how protective they are of her.

I particularly enjoyed that Pal and Hooper, and to some extent Mason, from the first book, Humor Me, were included in this book too. I loved Pal, so meeting her again and seeing her settle into her role as almost 1st lady was a great addition. I also enjoyed seeing more of Hooper and his life, hopefully we will get more!

I did get annoyed at Maddie when she gave too much time to Dane - did she not see how awful he was?! Nobody should go for a guy who calls you angel so much! I suppose this just added to her naivety and sweetness, but be prepared to be annoyed with her for this!

Overall, this is an enjoyable, easy read, the side characters really make it. You can read this on its own, but I’d recommend you read Humor Me first as it really adds to the story. Add both to your romance pile now!

I had the opportunity to read the ARC of A Whole Lotto Love. Thank you, Maggie, for the opportunity. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. So good.
Enemies to lovers, grumpy x sunshine, and some spice (a lot of it once they figure things out).
I fell in love with Maddy and Miles (look, their names both start on an M!). They were both well built characters, relatable, with fears and traumas from their pasts. They both learned how to grapple with their issues, and eventually came to their senses.
Maddy wins the lottery and becomes a millionaire overnight, and Miles is the financial advisor they send her to handle her finances now that she has so much money. Maddy wants to help people, Miles is cautious about Maddy being a bleeding heart and blowing it all off.
They will have to learn how to navigate around their differences while falling in love.
There's Mason, Miles' best friend and a senator/presidential candidate, and his girlfriend Pal. She takes Maddy under her wing and she becomes her friend, plus Hooper, Pal's driver and also friend. There's also Dane (gosh, such a douche), and Miles' ex-wife, Avery, both of whom I wanted to slap so much.
This book is so amazing. I highly recommend it. If Lark Lake Lodge made me want to read all of the books by this author, then consider A Whole Lotto Love to be the confirmation to my cravings.
Hopefully this book will be your new favorite summer adventure.

I was given this as an ARC and am providing an honest review

Grumpy meets sunshine in the most heartwarming jackpot ever.

A Whole Lotto Love is a laugh-out-loud, feel-good romcom that blends sharp wit with a whole lot of heart. Maddy Graham is the ultimate sunshine heroine—earnest, compassionate, and totally committed to saving her beloved senior center after a life-changing lottery win. Enter Miles Clark, the hot-but-grumpy wealth advisor determined to talk her out of “throwing money away.”

What follows is a delightful slow-burn romance filled with banter, charity galas, sassy seniors, and a meddling tech bro who almost steals the show. The chemistry between Maddy and Miles is undeniable, and watching his frosty exterior melt under her warmth was so satisfying.

I loved how the book balanced its humor with real emotional stakes. Maggie Eliot’s writing is playful but grounded, and her cast of quirky side characters—from the eccentric nuns to Maddy’s elderly crew—adds charm without ever feeling overdone.

Why not five stars? A few pacing issues in the middle and a slightly rushed resolution kept this from being a perfect read, but overall, it’s a sunshine-sparkling romcom that doesn’t just warm your heart—it fills it.

Perfect for fans of grumpy/sunshine dynamics, Detroit-set romances, and feel-good stories with substance.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is book 2 in Detroiters in Love series however you do not need to read book 1 in order to read and enjoy book 2! There are some character overlaps but nothing that would leave you confused if you just jumped in with book 2.

Maddy is your normal, everyday girl who won the lotto! Miles is her new financial advisor. Personality wise, they couldn't be more opposite! Maddy has some big goals for her lottery winnings that involve the church and senior center she works at. Miles thinks these goals will lead to disaster. While he works on introducing her to the world of money and charity fundraising, their chemistry heats up. Things explode when her goals go up in smoke thanks to some not so nice rich people trying to get their way. With Maddy brokenhearted over the loss of her dreams and Miles working through his past trauma, things get rocky.

This was a fun book with loveable and relatable characters. I enjoyed seeing their growth as well as seeing characters from book 1.

I received this book as an ARC, and I was not paid for this review—unless you count payment in the form of serotonin and swoony sighs.

“A Whole Lotto Love” is exactly what my romance-loving heart needed. Maddy, our big-hearted, bleeding-heart FMC, made me want to believe in people again (no small feat). She’s the kind of character who makes you want to look on the bright side—even if the bright side is also terrifying and possibly on fire. Enter Miles: a grump with the emotional range of a brick wall—at first. Watching him slowly thaw in Maddy’s sunshine? Chef’s kiss.

This is a fast-paced, banter-filled, laugh-out-loud romance that doesn’t skimp on the steam or the character growth. Maddy may have won the lottery, but what she really won was a ticket to an unexpectedly heart-melting, soul-healing love story.

Funny, heartfelt, and steamy in all the right ways, this book reminded me why I fell in love with the romance genre in the first place. If you’re a fan of sunshine/grump dynamics, forced vulnerability, or just need a good emotional support romance novel, this one’s for you.

Maggie Eliot has done it again!

I was excited to receive an advance copy of this book and I'm so grateful I did. What a fantastic summer read! Maddy is an addictive character and was one of the most compelling reasons that I couldn't put this book down. I couldn't wait to find out what happened to her next. Miles is the ideal complement to Maddy's personality. Their story is sweet, spicy, and just the perfect amount of frustrating. I found myself rooting for them and caring about them throughout.

If you read Ms. Eliot's previous book, "Humor Me," you're in for an even bigger treat. The characters in this book exist in that same universe in the most delightful way. Her "Detroiters in Love" series is off to fantastic start with these first two novels! I loved traveling along with Maddy and Miles on their journey and I look forward to more adventures from this wonderful author.

I absolutely loved Maddy and Miles! The sunshine and grumpy trope worked wonders for these two! Getting to see the characters from book one was great as well, their storylines here made me love them even more than I already did.

Maddy is the sweetest, most compassionate, and loving human being who strikes it BIG with the lottery! What is she to do with all this money? Well, she hires Miles, the grumpy but gorgeous, financial adviser to help her. The hard part is Maddy reminds Miles of someone in his past and he’s determined to not let what happened to them, happen to Maddy. This interferes with her “do-good” personality though. Before he lets Maddy spend a portion of her money on a worthy cause that is near and dear to her heart, he wants her to try experience the charity circuit from her new found wealth position. Deep down, it’s also a way to go on dates and get to know her better 😉 despite how hard he is trying to fight their obvious chemistry. This tactic also brings an obstacle into her life that threatens to derail her plans. The question that plagued me throughout was whether or not Miles could get past his prior trauma to not miss out on the perfect girl for him and help one of her dreams come true? Check out the book to find out!

Glimpse:
Maddy Graham suddenly wins a $600 million lottery prize in A Whole Lotto Love, but she doesn't try to improve her life. Preserving the dilapidated yet endearing senior center where she works is her real passion. Her new, straightforward wealth advisor, Miles Clark, is dubious of the center's viability. He consents to accompany Maddy to charity galas as her unofficial plus-one when she insists on spending her wealth for charitable causes rather than selfish ends. Particularly with a tech billionaire lurking as a potential romantic rival, sparks fly quicker than donations 💥.

Review:
Maddy is immediately likable because she begins with such a modest objective—saving a senior center or purchasing a church. In a genre filled with billionaire dreams, she stands out because she isn't enamored with wealth.
I love the relationship between Maddy and Miles.

This was such a cozy, feel good read. You know, the kind you curl up with by the fire, hot chocolate and a good book in hand. I went in with zero expectations, and honestly, those are sometimes the best reads.

Maddy wins the lottery (lucky girl!), and her grumpy financial advisor, Miles, isn’t too thrilled about her plans to save the senior center she works at. This story had me laughing out loud, nodding along in agreement, and even caught me off guard with a few surprises. Both Maddy and Miles are super likeable, and the writing flows so well.

I’ve already added Humor Me to my TBR because I’m definitely keen to follow this series.

Big thanks to Maggie for letting me read this ARC. I really enjoyed it and would absolutely recommend it!

I received this magical book as an ARC copy and I loved every moment. Maggie has a way with words and scenes that bring both humor, depth, sprinkled with a little magic.

What a unique storyline with Maddy & her grumpy finance manager, Miles. She wins the lottery and he’s trying to protect her from being swindled. The characters at the Saint A’s retirement home were so real, and what a hoot they were. The sparks between Maddy & Miles were spicy hot and it was so refreshing to read about two characters that grow and learn from their past misgivings into who they were destined to become.

I love Maggie’s books and she just has a way of cutting to the chase of those important moments and then making you laugh along the way. Do yourself a favor and read this book, you won’t regret it!

Five stars for this one
This is a quick and sweet, easy and spicy read!

My favourite paragraph from the book!!!
"I want to drive you home."
"I'm on a date. Don't you think that would be awkward?"
"I think it's worth it to keep him from making a lampshade out of your skin."
Maddy laughed. "I'm willing to risk it."

Unique storyline with characters that you love instantly and some you love to hate instantly!!

Can Maddy, Pal and Hooper be my new best friends. I don’t care that they have money, I just want to hang out with them and have a good laugh.

Grumpy and sunshine and he falls first but can’t admit it. Our MMC has a sad past and the fmc gives him so much hope as she is full of so much kindness and sunshine.

Loved this read.

This is a charming story about a woman who wins the lottery and seeks advice from a highly recommended financial adviser. However, the adviser turns out to be a grumpy yet attractive individual who insists that she should play it safe with her money. On the other hand, Maddy wants to save the senior citizen home and the attached church. Hilarity ensues as each of them tries to prove that their approach is better.

While Maddy cherishes her dear friends at the senior center, Miles, the financial adviser, introduces her to some delightful new acquaintances. As they spend time together, the chemistry between Maddy and Miles intensifies. This is a light and enjoyable read that is sure to entertain.

This is a voluntary review of a free ARC copy:

Very sweet book, felt a little slow to get going, but once it did it was a cute rom-com-esque book that kept you interested.

After winning $600 million lottery jackpot, Maddy wants to save a Senior Center, much to the chagrin of her new financial advisor Miles. The two get closer as she learns to navigate high society, and the initial irritation between the two soon blossoms into something more - but an alternative love interest might just be around the corner!

Overall, if you want an easy read, a rom-com story with Meghan Quinn vibes - this is it!

There is a villain or two, the new beat friends, new multi millionaire not trying to fit in, and the sunshine angel MMC. Loved all the characters except Dane and Avery. Definitely recommend.
