It is 1955 and best friends Clover and Logainne are looking forward to graduating from Lincoln High School and getting on with their lives. However when Clover fumbles for an excuse to avoid going to the senior prom with someone, she blurts out Logainne's name as her intended date. Now the whole school thinks there is more to their friendship than meets the eye, putting both their reputations and Logainne's honors student status at risk. As they scramble to contain the damage, at least one of them begins to wonder where her heart truly lies.
A really different, and very sweet, graphic novel about childhood buddies whose friendship may be turning into something more...something regarded, in 1950s America, with suspicion and almost no facts.
The artwork is incredibly appealing, with lots of period detail and fun touches (a Siamese cat wears a poodle skirt with a mouse design).
Although the central characters are cute, it's the secondary cast who make this, from bird rocker Toby to jock retriever Scott.
Mandi Tremblay's Peachy Keen 1: Tempted is an artistic masterpiece for the LGBT community and fans of the furry fandom. Characters Clover and Logainne try to overcome rumors of an unwanted relationship, and as the story progresses, things become clearer than they seem to be. Tremblay's art details the 1950's era, and each image is so detailed that it begs readers to return and enjoy the book simply for the art. Whether new to anthropomorphic animals in human situations or not, readers will relive their high school years, young or old, and follow both protagonists to their following sequel, Peachy Keen 2: Exodus.
