If you’re searching for an outstanding YA fantasy, look no further than this book! This is the second installment in the series, and just like the first, it absolutely delivers. Although I'm not typically drawn to YA fantasy, R.I. Aryn has completely won me over. I've had the privilege of ARC reading both of her books, and I’m confident she’s someone to keep an eye on. Her writing is only getting better, and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next. I did wish for more magical creatures like we had in the first book, but the exploration of the vampire world was a thrilling addition.

This book offers dual perspectives, but I have to admit, it wasn't the one I was hoping for. I’m always craving Zyran’s POV; I want to dive into his mind and feel the intensity and tension radiating from him. Nora continues to be one of my favorite characters in this series—who doesn’t appreciate a strong-willed queen?

While Zyran is captivating, I am sure that if we had his POV, he would be my favorite character in this series. However, Kaeden holds the top spot for me in this book, and I believe that’s primarily due to his POV. However, I can’t stand his wife—she’s my least favorite character in the story.

Overall, this book is a fantastic read filled with unexpected twists—don’t trust anyone, as you never know who might betray you in the end. I’m eagerly anticipating what’s next from R.I. Aryn!

Cursed completely took me by surprise. Although I may not be the target YA audience, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and how beautifully everything came together in the end.
As the second and final installment in R.I. Aryn’s duology, Cursed elevates the story to a whole new level by introducing new kingdoms, new plots, and breathtaking new characters. The inclusion of vampires and their storyline adds just the right amount of mystery, secrets, and emotions. Is it ok to say the vampire prince was my favorite character in the book? Because I genuinely think he’s earned that title.
I felt immersed in the story and able to connect with the characters. The pacing was fast with so many things happening at once, but I enjoyed the thrill of it. I loved witnessing Nyra and Zyran deepening their relationship during their quest into vampire lands, and I loved meeting and falling in love with the vampire royal couple, Kaeden and Aelora. The bond and friendship these four formed during the book felt both authentic and genuine; they took their time getting to know and understand each other.
The female leads were each a force on their own, but when paired with their matches, they became unstoppable. Aelora's actions of courage and loyalty brought tears to my eyes, as did Nyra's road to self-forgiveness and self-acceptance.
Cursed proved to be a beautiful and captivating conclusion to a duology built around love, friendship, and the power of embracing your inner self.

Holy Fkn Moly. This book took me on a roller coaster, i giggled, i swooned, i cried (like a baby), i cursed out the author for the heart ache i was put through. All in all i loved. I loved Nyra and Lora both bad bitches in their own way and the men.. the MEN.. Zyran and Kaeden… goddamn.

Cursed is the final book in this fantasy and magical. YA duology. The story continues with Nyra's POV with Zyran, the Prince of Shadows, and introduces the reader to the Prince of Vampire's Kaeden. Through his POV, we learn about his vampire kingdom, new marriage, those that wish him dead and the Curse that dominates his life.
With multiple characters, the author did an excellent job weaving their stories together, giving the reader a chance to get to know Nyra, Zyran, Kaeden and and Aelora and their connection in the book through fantasic character building.
Nyra and Zyran's relationship dynamic is given a chance to evolve as they journey through vampire lands. Not only do we see how strong both are on their own, but together, Nyra and Zyran, find love and acceptance of themselves and each other. In doing so, they shed the secrecy of their bonded marriage and change his kingdom.
I fell in love with Kaeden and Aelora's forced marriage and love story. Going from strangers to trusted friends, finally being lovers and then back to mistrust/misunderstanding between the two. Kaeden's loyalty and devotion to his wife was enjoyable to read and beautiful as well. When Kaeden's only concern went from ending his Curse to setting the world on its axis to help his beloved, I became a fan.
This author did a wonderful job concluding this series with a complex story full of adventure, court politics, magic, slow, burned tension and an ending fitting for the newlyweds in the fae and vampire kingdoms. I do so recommend this read.(* this is YA so no spice, but plenty of sexual tension and closed door romance.)

I honestly feel bad giving this such a low rating because the author is absolutely lovely, but Cursed was such a struggle for me to get through. I had to force myself to keep reading, and while there were flashes of potential, the story just didn’t come together in a satisfying way.
I still love Zyran (easily my favorite character!) and Kaeden had some interesting moments too, but his addition didn’t feel necessary here. The vampire storyline, while intriguing, felt tacked on to this supposed duology instead of being built up naturally from book one. Honestly, it might have worked better as its own separate story.
The biggest issue for me was the plot. So many things just happened without buildup or explanation. Important threads from Reign, like the prophecy, went unresolved, and new elements (like the tree, Zyran’s mother reveal, and the sudden vampire arc) felt tossed in for shock value rather than woven into the narrative. Even the ending left me baffled with random character changes that came out of nowhere.
The characters themselves were the strongest part, and I genuinely enjoyed spending time with them, but not even Zyran could save the scattered plot. Others may appreciate the layered romance tropes, political intrigue, and dual-timeline setup, but for me it lacked purpose and depth.
In the end, I gave two stars purely for the characters, because while the premise and world had potential, the execution left me disappointed. I do think this author has talent and room to grow, but unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me.
I still love Zyran (easily my favorite character!) and Kaeden had some interesting moments too, but his addition didn’t feel necessary here. The vampire storyline, while intriguing, felt tacked on to this supposed duology instead of being built up naturally from book one. Honestly, it might have worked better as its own separate story.
The biggest issue for me was the plot. So many things just happened without buildup or explanation. Important threads from Reign, like the prophecy, went unresolved, and new elements (like the tree, Zyran’s mother reveal, and the sudden vampire arc) felt tossed in for shock value rather than woven into the narrative. 3.5 stars. The writing is strong, especially considering the author is so young - but this book could cut a third. I found myself skimming entire pages of unnecessary text which made me lose interest a bit. I really enjoyed the story of both this book and the first -this one is better - but they’re both too long and could do with trimming.

Wow!! A fantastic second book and ending to this duology. It took me a second to fully get into it but once I did, it was totally worth it. A complex world full of mystery, magic, court politics and the slowest of tension filled romances. Did I mention there’s also vampires, elves and a shadow wielding fae king. If you’re a fan of The Cruel Prince I think you’ll enjoy this!!

Well I got my wish from book 1! I absolutely fell in love with Nyra in this book.
The addition of the vampires was great, I think that court was so interesting and the curse was unexpected. I loved all the chapters that took us back into that mindset verses the calculating tone of the feye politics.
The pacing in this one was fantastic. It really flowed and kept the plot moving. My only critique is that the elf war felt like it ended too soon based on how much storyline was dedicated towards it in the first book.
The slow burn was giving alllllll the angst and tension in this one which I absolutely loved.
If you’re in the mood for a chunky political fantasy that delivers thought out characters then add this to your tbr 😍

Wow, so immersive and easy to connect to ally he characters. This was such a surprise with it being a dual POV with the same female from book from one couple and the male from the new couple… so fun and creative! I don’t think I ever have had something like that before and I love it despite being quite skeptical at first. It had a few surprising chapter with other POVs that I appreciated too. The worldbuilding and magic is just as good as in book 1, but I thought the writing was a bit better in this one.

Vampire books is also not on the top of my lists usually, but this plot was so interesting and the characters was of course just as good as in book 1. I had the best time exploring this world and characters, exactly as I hoped after book 1.

I’m also a bit nervous when several main couples is introduced, but I love our vampire couple so much. They both surprised me and felt like I expect a vampire to be. It was full of tension and vulnerability in a whole different way than the first couple and their differences made it ever better.
I loved this conclusion so much, it was beautiful how it all came together in the end. It did not feel rushed or like it came together easy, just the perfect balance.
PS: I was a bit confused in one chapter near the end as it had two POV headers and it felt like it was told from mulitiple POV, but that may be cause it was an ARC so it probably is fixed before publication.

First of all, writing and publishing your first duology at just 15/16 years old is an incredible achievement — and I truly admire the author for that!
I struggled a bit more with book one, but I genuinely enjoyed this sequel. It was a strong continuation and a satisfying ending to the story. While I still found it hard to fully connect with Nyra, I appreciated how much more consistent and grounded she felt in this book. Her growth was noticeable, and I enjoyed seeing that.
I also liked the development of Nyra and Zayran’s love story — I’m always a sucker for arranged marriage/marriage of convenience tropes, so I was excited for their dynamic. It was sweet, but still felt like it lacked a bit of spark or depth. Maybe it was because we only had Nyra’s POV, but Zayran sometimes came across as too passive. I think having his perspective would’ve really helped bring him to life.
Surprisingly, I ended up loving Kaeden and Aelora’s storyline! I’m not usually into vampires, but their romance was beautiful — full of vulnerability, forgiveness, and great chemistry. Loved it!
The overall plot was engaging, and I liked how the Feye and vampire storylines came together. While some twists were predictable and a few resolutions felt a little too convenient , it was still an enjoyable, fast-paced read.
The author clearly has talent and potential, and considering her age, that’s incredibly exciting. I truly believe she’s going to write even more amazing stories in the future — and I’m looking forward to reading them!

for starters, i do not understand why i ever called the author a ‘friend’. She hates me. Sending me the arc was the least you could do , R.I. Aryn. I NEED THERAPY. I NEED EMOTIONAL COMPENSATION! this book was a hate crime against me. and i loved it.
First of all , I loved the writing style. R.I. Aryn has such a full vocabulary that every word in this book felt like a poem to me. No other book that I have read has had such a HUGE vocabulary that i had to google some words , like hello? This is like some peak taylor swift shit here.
The PLOT. Oh. the plot. At first , I was really on the fence about the whole vampire storyline , for like the whole 60% of the book i was like ‘maybe their story could’ve been a novella??? i do not care for them.’ boy was i wrong. so so so wrong. tears were shed. so many tears. i loved the vampire storyline. so many betrayals and plot twists that i DID NOT see coming. this storyline was a masterpiece to be fair.
Nyra and Zyran have my heart as ALWAYS. they are my babies. so precious. the slow burn really got on my nerves sometimes , but that’s what i loved the most about it. And come on , Zyran is NOT YA. He is a nasty freaky man who really was trying to get out of the young adult lines. I see you , Zyran. You nasty man. Anyways. Their story is so so so important to me and i fear i will never stop thinking about them.
BUT the most important message of this book to me was Nyra’s self acceptance. She was struggling so hard and I felt like a proud momma when she finally accepted her self<3.

this book follows nyra as it did in the last book, her journey as queen and her relationship with zyran which is to die for. with elements of adventure, forbidden romance and a royal romance these chapters had everything i wanted and more.
the book went from nyra’s chapters to kaeden’s chapters exploring a completely new point of view throughout this book. kaeden is a vampire prince, his story brings a lot of pain and a whole new story added into this book.
i did not expect vampires at all so this was an absolute surprise. kaeden experiences an emotion and feeling he has never felt before in his life and it is his curse, his downfall. there are so many twists and turns throughout this book.
with the most stunning quotes such as:

I particularly enjoyed the dual povs, one from the first couple’s mmc and the other from the fmc. Each couple felt unique and captivating in their own way as they are different and the moments between the main characters had me hanging on every word! The romance was so intense that it made my heart race, and I absolutely loved every thrilling second of it! The world building and political intrigue were exquisitely done, adding depth and richness to the story.

Snarky vampires, assassination plots, quests, war, and strong FMCs? The second book of the Reign duet has it all! I am so grateful to the author for gifting me an ARC of Cursed because this is my first 5-star read of the year! Cursed takes place a short time after the events of Reign. It follows Nyra and Zyran as they journey to the vampire realm to find a cure for a fatal curse, all while on the brink of war.
I cannot begin to describe how much I loved this book. Once again, Nyra is an incredibly strong FMC and it was great watching her finally accept herself for who she was. Aelora was also incredibly strong, while being the complete opposite of Nyra. I liked the juxtaposition of the two. Where Zyran was dark and broody, Kaeden was relaxed and sarcastic. I loved the intricacies of the vampire realm and the magic systems in different worlds. Chapter 55 left me absolutely devastated.
I was able to predict a few of the twists, but that didn't take me out of the story at all. I would love to know why Luthien was so subservient to his father, and I need more lore on The Great War. There is a lot of room left for prequels, sequels, and character spin-offs, and I need all of them.
This book was well paced, well written and I could not put it down! Please write more!!

Aelora was also incredibly strong, while being the complete opposite of Nyra. I liked the juxtaposition of the two. Where Zyran was dark and broody, Kaeden was relaxed and sarcastic. I loved the intricacies of the vampire realm and the magic systems in different worlds. Chapter 55 left me absolutely devastated.
I was able to predict a few of the twists, but that didn't take me out of the story at all. I would love to know why Luthien was so subservient to his father, and I need more lore on The Great War. There is a lot of room left for prequels, sequels, and character spin-offs, and I need all of them.
This book was well paced, well written and I could not put it down! Please write more!!

This was the perfect end of this duology.

I was already invested in Nyra & Zyran from Reign but having the addition of Kaeden's points of views was such a welcome surprise. I normally rush through dual povs to get to my favourite characters chapters but this is one of the first books that I didn't mind whose chapter I was on, I loved both the separate stories and when they crossed paths!
I loved that it was Vera and not Kaeden who went along with Nyra and Zyran, enjoyed their travelling adventure and the separate stories going on whilst working for the same outcome.
There is so much scope for many more stories in this world featuring other characters. I would love to know more about Kaden and Aelora before their marriage, about Valen and his love / his descent into grief. Caz and Nyx would be a fabulous read but I mean what I wouldnt give for a prequel to Zyran's 'betrayal' and have some chapters of their young love from Zyran's POV.
The critical stand off between the three crowns and vampires against Eldorian ended just a bit too suddenly for me. I love that all the characters got their well deserved peace at the end but what happens next with Eldorian? I feel like that's a loose end I would have liked to know more about. I don't feel his character would have bowed out so quickly.

Reuniting with Nyra, I expected the story to focus entirely on her and Zyran’s journey, especially since her perspective is written in the immersive first-person narrative. However, I was pleasantly surprised by an expanded role of Vampire Prince Kaeden Castillo, who became just as pivotal, if not more so, in driving the plot forward. His complex relationship with Aelora, his need for cure for his bloodline’s curse and the intricate machinations surrounding them were utterly fascinating.

What a conclusion to the duology! 📚
After being completely hooked by the first book, I was eager to see how Nyra and Kaeden's story would unfold, and I was not disappointed. This finale delivers on all the promises set up in book one, weaving together court intrigue, deadly curses, and forbidden attraction into a satisfying conclusion.
What I loved:
- The dual POV between Nyra and Kaeden allowed us to fully experience both sides of this complex feye-vampire conflict
- The slow burn romance between our leads had me turning pages late into the night
- The worldbuilding continues to shine with rich detail about both Elantris and Xaedor
- The exploration of curses and their consequences added genuine stakes to every decision
Aryn masterfully balances political machinations with personal struggles, creating characters that feel both powerful and vulnerable. The revelation about Nyra's mother's secret changes everything, and watching her navigate the treacherous waters of queendom while dealing with a mysterious curse kept me completely invested.

You can clearly see the improvement in writing between the first and second book. The prose felt more polished, and some of the characters in Cursed were a lot more likeable, although the plot in the first book was definitely stronger.
This book introduces a second POV from a character we’ve never met before, which surprised me at first, but didn’t take long for me to become interested in the new perspective. As expected, the two POVs eventually cross paths, but there was no real connection between the characters, which I found disappointing.
Most of the conflict in the book didn’t really feel like true conflict…. and I had a hard time understanding the why for a lot of it (if that makes any sense haha).
I liked Kaeden in the beginning, but I had a hard time understanding his motivations for certain actions. I kept waiting for further explanation, but it never came and by the end, I didn’t really care much for him or Aelora.

This duology was honestly an amazing read. I really enjoyed this world where the fae, elves and vampires are all on opposite sides and none are truly allies. I enjoyed the worldbuilding and the magic system, and how each kingdom had their own stone that provided its own unique magic.
Reign was a good introduction to this world and I found myself captivated by the story. I loved the journey's all three Crowns had to undertake in order to get ahead of the elf rebellion and prevent war. Such a good plot twist at the end of this book and I LOVED the final battle too! Also, I squealed at the way it ended! IYKYK 😉
And if you think Reign brought in the slow-burn, think again. I am literally obsessed with Nyra and Zyran and the chemistry between the Ice Queen and the King of Darkness drove me utterly insane. I loved the addition of the Vampire kingdom in this story and especially that we get Kaedan's POV. The plot in this one was so good, I loved how the magic system expanded and the mystery behind the troubles the vampires were having was just brilliant.
Overall, this duology is packed with action, some good plot twists, some great character development and a yearning between characters that will keep you absolutely hooked!

This was a brilliant sequel and end to the duology..one that I'm actually sad about. I'd love a prequel, sequel, spin-off story with the side characters..whatever. I just need more!

I got goosebumps in the end because what Kaeden went through with Aelora was like Romeo and Juliet!! 🥹 he won from Fate herself
I did not expect to get another story from the vampires and what was going on within their kingdom and that it was happening because of Fate. Along side with the Feye and Elves.
Eldarion is insane!!! First attacking the Feye and causing disruption within the kingdoms left and right and also with the threat of war and then to involving and attacking the vampire kingdom. And that Luthien went so long with his Father’s plans even though he was against it was beyond me!
Nyra was struggling so hard to accept the bond because she was still struggling with accepting herself and her heritage. She thought she was unworthy of her people and so for that reason also love. But Zyran is stubborn himself and kept poking at Nyra until she finally accepted it and even dared to face their people once announcing their courtship.
Absolutely loved this journey! So many new people and places you get to know and more history from the vampires side! Recommend this to all high fantasy lovers out there! ✨

To start- I am still so grateful this author reached out to me and asked if I’d be interested in reading their books! I started with Reign (book 1 of this duology) and I was hooked!
Cursed Review:

I loved that this was a dual POV! Nyra and Kaeden had very different upbringings but you could tell from their POVs they valued many of the same things! I was waiting throughout Reign for more mention of the vampires so I’m so happy Cursed was full of them!
Many things from Reign I didn’t even realize were hugely important made appearances and were major parts of the plot in Cursed as well! I love how the author connected everything between the two books! The action was intense, the reveals made my jaw drop and the YEARNING!
I absolutely love the similarities between the couples also! Nyra and Zyran + Kaeden and Aelora - arranged/forced marriages with loyal, badass women and nonchalant, but touch her and die men! The development of both relationships was done so well!
That one chapter towards the end? (You’ll know when you get to it) Yeah that absolutely BROKE ME! Stared and stared and jaw dropped and didn’t even want to keep reading because I was feeling all the feels!
I’m am so impressed that this duology was written by a young author, and I cannot wait to see what more is to come!

I have loved every second of this book and the first one.
First of all I absolutely love the writing style of this. Every single word and sentence feels like a hug. It’s so beautiful it reads like poetry.
The story is absolutely amazing. I ate this up like my favourite snack. The characters, the magic system, the twists?! I’ve been on my toes this entire time and I really didn’t want it to end.
The only and I truly mean the ONLY thing that didn’t make this five stars is because it kind of bothered me how one POV was written in 1st person perspective and the other one was in 3rd. For me, it made the story lose a bit of its flow.
But I love how everything came together in the end and I feel like we got such a good conclusion to the story with nothing being left unsaid.

I loved book one, and book two took it to the next level. It’s the conclusion to the epic YA duology. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time starting on page one. If I can convince you to read this book with one word it would be: SWOONING.
The story follows multiple POVs and a couple love stories. I don’t know which love was more epic…it was so hard to choose! The author added more world building, new characters, yearning and BA female characters. I love the feye knights including some lady knights (I’m very into the lady knight era currently), the elves, vampires and a shadow daddy 😏The men who would burn the world down for their women was the cherry on top.
The story keeps you hooked with unraveling secrets, deception, and a slow burn romance. I loved the mental health representation as well. The story gets really deep and evoked a lot of emotions from me. I think this duology is fantastic and full of action. I definitely recommend reading Reign and Cursed 💕

I have to be honest, Cursed took me by surprise. It took me a while to warm up to the first book, but Cursed definitely pulled me in, especially thanks to Kaeden (not gonna lie, he really kept me reading 😅).
What stood out to me this time was how much the narrative has improved,not just in writing quality, but in the complexity of the plot. The story becomes more layered, with new dynamics and characters that add depth and intrigue.
Overall, I’d give it a solid 4.
It took some time for me to get fully into it, but by the end, I was hooked.

I freakin loved this book!!
Book 1 was good, but this book was GREAT!
I was so invested in this story from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down. It moved at a good pace and held my attention (which can be hard to do lol). The world building was good without being overwhelming. I loved that there was character growth throughout the book and that the MC’s were mature and didn’t act like children 🙌🏻 😂 …and let’s not forget about how swoon worthy the slowburn was 🫠 The 2 mmc’s were 🔥 and said all the right things! I freakin loved this book!!
Book 1 was good, but this book was GREAT!
I was so invested in this story from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down. It moved at a good pace and held my attention (which can be hard to do lol). The world building was good without being overwhelming. I loved that there was character growth throughout the book and that the MC’s were mature and didn’t act like children 🙌🏻 😂 …and let’s not forget about how swoon worthy the slowburn was 🫠 The 2 mmc’s were 🔥 and said all the right things! Finding books with characters that start to feel like friends as you read through their story is something that brings me joy and this is one of those books. The author wrote such lovely characters that I am sorry to be leaving them behind in the pages of their creativity.
This author has been added to my "immediatly add to to TBR" list.
I love the found famliy trope and I have never read a take on it quite like this, where the members are also rulers of their realms and the complexity of that is facinating. The layers of the relationships and the characters are exposed so beautifully throughout. It was truly a pleasure to read.
The plot was intriguing and I was drawn into the story very quickly. I enjoyed the magic system and the world building. Also, I think I might now need a wolf. If anyone has any ideas on how I can make that happen please let me know.
