Adorable! Once I started this book, I could not put it down - I was awake until 3am and I have no regrets at all!!

I have read all of Hannah's previous hockey books and this does follow on from them, but they're not essential to be able to read this story.

Brandon is an absolute sweetheart and a true caretaker. He wants to do everything he can to make sure that Gabe is happy, healthy, and has his needs met. Gabe does struggle to accept this but once he figures out this is how Brandon shows that he cares, he gets on board and it's just the absolute sweetest relationship.

They are at different places when it comes to experience with Brandon being a virgin in every way possible, being out, and financial/job security but these two are so meant to be together and I was eagerly anticipating their official relationship status.

They do have a few stumbling blocks and distance is a problem when Brandon keeps going between his AHL team and the NHL team, but they build such a strong foundation of friendship before the relationship truly gets romantic. It is a slow burn, but it's well worth the wait.

The side characters are all really interesting too and I want stories for all of Gabe's housemates now!

Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

I am not too sure what to say because I have never loved a book so much while also hating so many things about it at the same time haha.

The pacing was so weird, the first kiss didn't come until absurdly late in the book which I hated so much. But then, I loved the first kiss so much so I couldn't stay too annoyed at how late it came.

I also hate the whole "I like him but I won't date him because I am not good enough and he deserves better" thing. This is so much the worst. Either date them or don't but don't drag them along while also refusing to date or kiss them. But then again, when they finally got together I loved it to so much I almost forgot how annoyed I was at Gabe.

Also, I found the money thing so weird. How are you going to send someone hundreds of dollars a month plus pay off their college tuition and fund every part of their daily life when you aren't even dating and they refuse to date or kiss you. I hated it so much. But then, I also loved it because Brandon was the best and the end was sweet.

Oh and I also loved the drawing scene. It was really giving Titanic Jack drawing Rose 😂😂

So how can I hate so many things about a book that I think it should be a two star but then at the end I like it and give it four stars? I honestly have no clue. I really did love the beginning and the end. And hated the middle? And somehow still overall liked it? But would I recommend it, probably not? I have no clue, don't ask me any questions because my opinions don't make sense and I don't understand them myself. 😂

When he looked at Gabe’s art, though, he felt joy and vulnerability and the possibility of freedom. Seeing Gabe’s work caused a longing to rip through his chest at the idea of having that—a man in his life he could have those experiences, that pleasure and intimacy, with.

Adored this so much!! Was so fun to see Ryan and Jackson again was such a treat. I loved how their presence added warmth and support without ever overshadowing Brandon and Gabe’s story, and just their general support of Brandon and his relationship/coming out.

I appreciated was how money was just a difference between Brandon and Gabe but wasn't used as a plot point or way for Gabe to deny what they were building? It was just Brandon’s love language, and everyone accepted that.

Brandon’s journey of self-acceptance was so sweet. Watching him become comfortable with his sexuality with zero drama or homophobia was honestly refreshing. I loved how Gabe barely knew him at the beginning but immediately became his biggest supporter.

The long-distance element was handled so well. Every time Brandon and Gabe were together, you could feel how much it meant to them. Life of a hockey player involves a lot of travel, but especially for one who kept bouncing up and down like Brandon was! (I did have to look at a map tho bc I did forget Minnesota and Iowa border each other lol sorry)

Also loved the chosen family vibe with Gabe and his roommates!!! It was super sweet, and tbh I wanted to hang out with all of them. (Also Wyatt/Parker? Yes?? Don't tease me bc I am already rooting for them.)

I liked how there was slow burn...but also not. Because Brandon and Gabe’s connection was clear from the very beginning. They got to know each other really well and then finally made it official, but it felt on track for both of them to have that friendship period before they started calling each other boyfriends.

And oh my god, the scene where Gabe draws him?? I'll take 20, thank you.

4.25 stars - I've enjoyed several books by this author, and this is a great start to a new series!

This book features another (partially) long-distance relationship, which Henry has written before, and as someone who's had a couple of those, I really appreciate seeing those particular struggles written about. In addition to distance being an issue, we get the even more unusual scenario of the Budget Sugar Daddy (lol, not really, but it does amount to that, I suppose.) I'm also a fan of MCs who are struggling with finances (relatable, even if it's not so bad at present) and finding a realistic way for them to get more financially stable without airlifting in a Convenient Billionaire.

The conflict isn't so much will they or won't they, but 'does the fact that I'm Venmo-ing him money make this too messy?' and 'what if he gets bored of sending me meals and money for art supplies?' And they are becoming friends as well as more than friends along the way, which is super endearing.

Many thanks to GRR for the review copy!

Proof that the right author can take your least favourite tropes and spin them into magic! ✨

Slow-burn, strangers to friends to lovers - not my usual far but Henry’s writing just does it for me. I couldn’t put this down. It was so sweet and swoony!!

Minor league hockey player Brandon Gatlin + struggling art student Gabe Langley. Gabe is half-heartedly looking for a pro athlete sugar daddy and meets Brandon in his creative writing class. Brandon isn’t rich but he likes taking care of Gabe as much as he can and they quickly form a close friendship. Brandon being in the closet and the exchange of money make their blossoming feelings complicated.

I loved Gabe being Brandon’s safe space. Brandon becoming Gabe’s muse. The slooooooooow way their mutual pining developed into more. Both of them being confused and assuming their feelings were one sided. All of the side characters. Ugh I just loved it! It’s not super angsty but there is a bit of *omg just talk to each other* 🤦‍♀️

Also, loved the cameo’s from some of Henry’s other works! A 10/10 read and excellent start to a new series.

“I’m so proud of you. It can be scary to come out. Especially for the first time. I’m so honored.”

Oh this was super sweet

This series ties in with Hannah Henry’s Delay of Game series, but this can absolutely be read as a standalone.

I love the caretaker trope. Brandon shows his love and affection for those he cares about by providing them. They both have such kind hearts.

These two were wonderful together. It was so sweet how Brandon just wanted to see Gabe thrive.

They do have a few hiccups to overcome in relationships/s3x, experience, job/money, being out … but once they finally get on the same page, they are incredible. The relationship felt natural because of all the things they had to work through.

“I love you,” Brandon said. It might have been about the thirtieth time that day, but hearing it never got old. “I love you too, babe.”

They were sort of idiots in love, not really seeing what they had within each other till the end. Incredibly sweet though and low angst

This definitely leaves you wanting for the next book in the series for sure.

So thankful for this arc

3.5/5 stars! I have conflicting feelings on this one. On the one hand, it was very low-angst, which I kind of needed considering the world is on fire right now. On the other hand, a teeny tiny bit of angst might have propelled the story during the few times the pacing felt like a drag. Definitely an HEA story. Will read the next book in the series.

This was overly sweet and not angsty at all but it was what I needed when a storm was raging outside. I had some issues with Gabe's 'payments' but I guess it made sense for who they were.

MY THOUGHTS
Drawn to you is sweet and low angst. It’s a perfect palette cleanser after some of the dark/heavy books I’ve been reading lately. Gabe and Brandon are cute together, and Henry is really good at showing two people falling in love (see also: Ryan and Jackson from Drive the Net, who also appear heavily in this book as side MCs). That series, from what I remember, is definitely spicier than this one, but the difference works here. Henry takes the time to set up a true friends-to-lovers arc without sacrificing anything. The change to ‘something more’ feels organic, and in the long run, that contributes to the overall hopeful, optimistic vibe of their relationship. Also, it’s nice to see them get to know each other on-page and see how their love develops over time.

The ONLY thing that took me out of the story a bit (not enough to change my rating) has to do with background/detail information at the end about Gabe (spoiler ahead…you’ve been warned):

I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Hannah Henry's storytelling is SUCH A GIFT that I'm honestly contemplating creating a shelf for authors whose narrative styles feel like a hug/coming home! I'm still so snuggly after reading this adorable, sporty-yet-comfy romance, and I very much could not get enough of these two most precious boys! I LOVED them both so sooooo much!!

The AHL-NHL/making-ends-meet-Artist-grind energy was supremely on point! Sweet and lovable Gabe's exhaustion from his hustle felt like it was my own. And Brandon's steadfast and earnest EVERYTHING was like the most soothing balm of marshmallow and honey that was poured straight into my heart! The balance between ALL the emotional promises, career-wise and romantically, unfolded like a dream come true! Every aspect to this was lovely, warm and caring, and I loved the feeling of being wrapped up in all of it.

I loved that the chemistry suffusing all the moving pieces made the narrative flow like a well-oiled machine.

I really loved that Gabe's housemates and his "son" iykyk, and Brandon's array of hockey family and his OG one were all so vibrant, and that I was invested in EVERYONE'S VIBE! They were all so unique and memorable, and each personality added layers of supple depth to the narrative which felt like a living breathing thing.

IT's brilliant when a book's entire cast contributes to the heartbeat of a romance, and I adored how they all did the work to make Drawn to You fantastic and intimately well-rounded!

As a side note, I'm soaring right now because I just realized that I have the entire Delay of Game series, and I'm straight up losing my mind for wanting to (at the very least) devour Drive the Net (Book 1) which features Brandon's "hockey dads," Jackson and Ryan! They were marvellous in this book and I cannot wait to gorge myself on the series they'd kicked off!

So yeah, basically I felt my limbs release and I pretty much melted into everything this was! This book was everything I didn't realize I was missing from MM, but I LOVE that HH delivered a hockey romance that did everything right for me.

Buzzed on You is Book 2 in The Call-Ups and I'm seriously hoping this series goes like a million books long, because this was one of the most satisfying hockey romances I've read in years and that's saying a lot!

I received an ARC copy from the author. The views expressed herein are my own and are unbiased.

Hannah Henry has rapidly rocketed to the top of my short list of favorite hockey authors. There's a few things I specifically look for in this genre. The most important one to me is that the hockey not take a backseat or be just window dressing. I want the game to be at least relevant to the plot if not central, and for the author to have a good grasp on the rules and what it's like to actually watch or play the game. Every Hannah Henry book I've read meets this and exceeds it. In Drawn to You in particular I felt like there was a really rich and insightful portrayal of the experience of Brandon, as he gets called up (and sent down) from the AHL to the NHL, and his struggle and the effort he makes to achieve his goals in an excruciatingly difficult (in every way) career. I loved every part of Brandon's journey.

The relationship between Gabe and Brandon is initially almost of a transactional nature, which I feel like was maybe not fleshed out enough. Their income disparity is not that great when the book starts. As it goes on, Brandon becomes more financially solvent and provides more and more for Gabe. I felt like this could have been delved into a little bit more, as there is always a conversation to be had about inequalities in a relationship. Gabe sets out to find a "sugar daddy," and while Brandon initially seems to be making poor financial choices by attempting to support Gabe, they both seem to be happy with their roles. It was an interesting aspect to the story and the fact that it never resulted in any conflict surprised me.

The romance was incredibly sweet. These two are meant for each other, and their relationship and romance develops in a slow, natural way.

Henry has a signature style of humor that I greatly enjoy. These are characters that seem genuine, make mistakes, and say and do funny things. It's not a comedy but there is still some humor, since it's a lifelike book and funny things happen in life.

I loved every moment. Can't wait to read the next one.

Such a sweet story, I loved it!
We're back in the same universe as the Delay Of The Game series and we also get the chance to see Jackson and Ryan again: in fact they host players called up from AHL at their house and Brandon is one of them.

Brandon is seriously one of the sweetest men ever! He's tender, a little shy, a caretaker, loyal and a very good friend. When he met Gabe during a meeting online, he was instantly smitten by him.
Brandon is gay but he's not out: he's not technically in the closet, it's more like he doesn't know how to come out or what he should do, and the only example of gay man he knows is his roommate Skylar, who's quite loud and definitely very different from him.
When he gets the chance to temporarily join the NHL team in Minnesota and to meet Gabe, he feels so safe with him to the point of coming out and the caring friendship that Ryan and Jackson offer to him, along with their example as an out couple, will make him feel comfortable enough to come out to the whole team.

Gabe is a brilliant artist, still in college at 24, who struggles to manage all the expenses he has to face monthly: not only tuition and books, but also all the art supplies he needs to do the projects requested for his classes. He has to do three jobs and he's still not able to afford decent food.

The money exchange seemed a little too much at first, but as the story progressed it was obvious how much Brandon cared for Gabe and he was so upfront about genuinely wanting to help.
I think their dynamics brings to light a serious problem of the American system, where a student has to wear himself out to afford an education and drown in debt in case of a medical emergency. That is very sad and infuriating.

What prevented me from giving five full stars:
The rhythm slowed down a bit towards the end.

I adored all the side characters: Parker is a wonderful guy and I hope he will find his HEA soon. I'm also very interested in the dynamic between Skylar and his friend and captain Beck.
I look forward to reading more of this series.

I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest review.

Thanks so much Hannah Henry and Gay Romance Reviews for the book. I was given this book as an advance review copy (ARC) for free, and I am leaving this review completely voluntarily.

This was such a nice change-up from all the dark romance I’ve been reading lately. I didn’t realize how much I needed a story that felt this soft and comforting until I picked this up.

This was my first read by Hannah Henry, and I really enjoyed it. I’ve had a few friends read some of her other books, and they told me she writes spicy really well, so I was definitely intrigued to try this one. It actually wasn’t as spicy as I was expecting but honestly, it felt right for the story. The emotional connection and personal growth between the characters took center stage, and that worked perfectly.

The story follows Gabe, a struggling art student who draws NSFW art on the side, and Brandon, a professional hockey player. Their relationship starts off a little unconventional - Gabe’s just trying to make ends meet, and Brandon wants to make sure Gabe’s happy, healthy, and taken care of. Gabe struggles with accepting that kind of support at first, but once he realizes this is how Brandon shows he cares, he gets on board.

Brandon’s journey of self-acceptance was so sweet to read. Watching him grow comfortable with his sexuality without all the usual drama or homophobia you often see in sports romances was honestly refreshing. I loved how Gabe barely knew Brandon at the beginning, yet instantly became his biggest supporter.

The pacing was easy, the writing flowed nicely, and the overall vibe was warm and character-driven. It’s not high-angst or super dramatic. It is more like a cozy hug of a love story with just enough depth to make you think about things like self-worth and how people show love in different ways.

Happy reading friends,
~ Maebae 💚

Brandon plays in the AHL, and is hoping to be called up to the NHL because he’ll be closer to his family, especially his immunocompromised sister.

He takes a creative writing class and meets Gabe there, online. Gabe is an art student really struggling to make ends meet. He works three jobs and is trying to finish his degree, and he lives with several roommates who are also having a tough time.

When Brandon finds Gabe’s artwork online, some of which is appropriate for everyone, and some of which is erotic in nature, he’s intrigued and buys his prints. They begin texting about Gabe’s work, and Brandon comes out to him, never having shared this with anyone before.

Brandon sends Gabe money and buys him things so he can create, but it’s never because Gabe asks for anything. Instead, Gabe gifts him with some of his work that he can share with his sister.

Gabe supports Brandon on coming out to others by pretending to be his boyfriend, which makes it easier for Brandon to talk about. They begin hooking up, but neither is sure what that means, as they have feelings for each other.

They each believe the other wouldn’t want to be with them, Gabe because he doesn’t want Brandon to miss out on someone better because he’s a poor artist, and Brandon because he’s newly out and not as creative, but somehow, they work. It’s only after Gabe is in a car accident that they share their feelings and become real boyfriends.

I love these characters, Gabe as a talented artist trying to work towards his career as an artist and Brandon ready to start life as an NHL player. They’re sweet and caring towards each other, connecting about family and facing challenges together.

I received this ARC for free and am glad to provide my honest review with appreciation.

Hannah Henry’s Drawn to You is the kind of book that wraps around you like your favourite blanket, soft, comforting, and full of heart. From page one, it’s clear this isn’t just another MM hockey romance. It’s a feeling—and that feeling is pure, snuggly joy.

Gabe and Brandon are instantly lovable in such different yet beautifully complementary ways. Gabe’s artistic grind and the deep exhaustion that comes with just trying to make ends meet? Painfully relatable. And Brandon—our sweet, sincere, emotionally grounded hockey player—was like marshmallow fluff for the soul. Their chemistry is so effortlessly infused into every scene, it makes the whole story flow like magic.

What really stands out is how well the hockey element is woven into the story. Henry doesn’t treat the sport as set dressing—it’s integral to the characters, especially Brandon. His AHL-to-NHL journey is portrayed with honesty and insight, and it made me even more invested in his personal growth. As a fan of the genre, I really appreciated that the hockey felt authentic and relevant, not just tossed in for flavor.

The supporting cast is also a major highlight. Gabe’s housemates and his "son", Brandon’s teammates and family, even side characters, are all vivid, dynamic, and integral to the story’s emotional fabric. It’s a rare treat when everyone in a book feels alive and purposeful. The community built around the romance made everything more layered and emotionally satisfying.
L0ved it and so looking forward to the next one!

The Delay of Game series is my comfort series, so I was very excited to see that Henry was writing a spin-off series! While some characters from Delay of Game make an appearance in this book, it’s not necessary to read it prior to reading this one.

Brandon is in the AHL, while Gabe is a struggling art major working multiple jobs to get by. They “meet” in an online creative writing class and become friendly with each other. When Brandon gets called up to the NHL team in the city Gabe is in, they meet in person and it seems like they have known each other forever with how comfortable they feel with each other.

I fell in love with both Gabe and Brandon instantly because they both have the kindest hearts. Brandon’s was obvious in how he is a provider for those he cares about and kept sending Gabe money or things that he needed. Gabe won my heart with how he interacts not just with Brandon, but with his roommate Parker.

I loved the slow build up where we got to see Gabe and Brandon both wrestle with their own insecurities about how the other might feel about them, their insecurities about themselves, and how they could make everything work.

Just like all of Henry’s books, I read this one in one day because I had to see what happened next! I was glad to see Jackson and Ryan again, and can’t wait to see what other Delay of Game guys pop up in future books.

I received an ARC and these are my honest opinions.

Hannah Henry is a new author for me, and one I have wanted to check out. I am really glad I did.

Drawn to You is the first book in a new series, The Call-Ups. Drawn to You follows Brandon and Gabe. Brandon is a minor league hockey player who is also attending online college classes. Gabe is an art student and holds down 3 jobs. Brandon becomes Gabe's inspiration for his art.

Brandon and Gabe first meet when they are put into a group for a class they are both in. The begin talking outside of the group meetings and become friends. Brandon gets called up to the NHL and in talking with his hosts, he tells a little white lie of Gabe being his boyfriend.

Over several months Brandon and Gabe spend more time together and pretend to be boyfriends. They both develop feelings for each other, but are afraid to bring it up in case it might "ruin things".

Eventually they do talk and learn they are both on the same page and go from fake boyfriends to real boyfriends.

Besides Brandon and Gabe we meet Gabe's roommates and Brandon's teammates. I fell in love with both found families along with Brandon and Gabe. I am really glad I finally had the opportunity to read a book by Hannah Henry and I am for sure going to be reading more.

Spice: 4/5

A SWEET FRIENDS TO LOVERS SLOW BURN!🔥 💕

This is the fifth book by this amazing author I have devoured and looking forward to more!

It all started with a fake relationship…

“You need a sugar daddy,”

I like friends to lovers and I feel that these two sweet idiots first got to know each other on a different level and later moved to a more intimate level when Gabe drew Brandon semi nude… and then the sexting began… and the call up visits…

I loved the found family aspect that they both had in their respective lives and how it all gelled together and just flowed along like a river…

Brandon Gatlin 22, was the ideal “sugar daddy” for Gabe Langley 25, in the way he showed how much he cared about Gabe’s wellbeing and mental health but Gabe was not just a sugar baby, he carried on working three jobs to make a living even with Brandon’s financial support!

They were just sweet as sugar together as fumbling awkward friends who were absolutely gaga over each other and made for each other whether they could see it or not…

I loved their journey discovering each other and the help and support Brandon got from his hockey dads and Gabe when he came out…

A sweet epilogue follows them into their future with graduation and surprises!

I can’t wait to see who is next…

I voluntarily received an ARC from GRR and Hannah Henry for an honest non biased review.

Hannah Henry does it again! The Delay of Game series was one of the first hockey series I've read, I've loved every other HH books since, but it's something special to go back to hockey, and to have Ryan and Jackson as part of the story.

Drawn to You is a beautiful friends to lovers romance between two classmates, a minor league hockey player taking a class a semester while he's working his way up to the big show, and an art student working 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet while he gets his degree. In a dual POV book, we get to see the story unfold in two different ways, in how it's authentic to each of them and their love story.

A friendship that leads to gifts, with Brandon having more money than he needs, and Gabe not having enough, Brandon starts contributing to Gabe in a way that makes valuable impacts on his life, without it being too much. It is very much a caretaking energy and knowing that he has resources available to him that he could use to help.

This story was beautiful and I loved the way it developed and how we were really along for the ride. I loved both Brandon and Gabe, and the mix of side characters I hope we see more of in the future!

Highly recommend, for both the sweet love story, and as we enter hockey season and hockey romance is always a winner!

Thank you to the author for the ARC!

A really good idea in theory, and I enjoyed reading for the most part, but it was a bit too long and slow. It took a while to get going, and I really hoped it was gonna be a friends to lovers for a minute, Gabe and Parker's relationship is amazing.

I really liked the idea of the accidental sugar daddy thing, and I empathise to a certain extent. It was a lot sweeter and more wholesome than 'sugar baby' would suggest, and primarily focused on enabling Gabe to get some sleep and eat a vegetable occasionally, but I have to say it did make me uncomfortable when he just Venmoed him money for no particular reason.

This was a slow burn and I'm usually in favour of that, and for a long time I was desperate for them to kiss, but unfortunately it dragged on that bit too long and lost all tension. By the time they got on to sexy times I'd lost interest. Normally I'd be annoyed about them promising to switch and then not doing so on page, but the existing scenes were so meh I'm not too fussed.

Good premise, sweet characters, and it would have been a great read if it had been maybe a third shorter. Still, it was a good introduction to a new series and I have some interest in the side characters.

Thanks to GRR for the ARC.

This book was absolutely precious and I literally couldn't put it down. Like I stayed up entirely too late then shook off all responsibilities because I had to keep reading. Gabe and Brandon are wonderful. Gabe is so driven, hard working, artistic, and kind. He's positive and outgoing. Brandon is a literal angel. He is so sweet, thoughtful, caring, and kind. He feels invisible because of his sister's illness, but he harbors so ill feelings about it. To see him be seen by Gabe and his hockey friends warms my heart.

I loved this story. It said slow burn and it meant it! The tension was almost killing me. Seeing these two pine after each other was everything. They're both so sweet and they made for good friends, but it was clear there was more from both sides. And I understand Gabe's hesitation, but I also hated it. I loved seeing them work through long distance, crazy schedules, money, and coming out. Overall, this book was genuinely so adorable. I would recommend this to anyone.

Notes: average spice levels, hockey/artist, jock/artist, long distance, friends to lovers, financial differences, kind of a sugar daddy? lol, caretaking, found family, chronically ill family member (sister), classmates, blushing mc, fake dating

Review:
This book was sweet! Brandon and Gabe meet in an online creative writing class and although their meeting was a bit uncomfortable for both of them, they stayed in contact with each other and that's how their story begins. Gabe is a student and he doesn't have a lot of money and he has no idea how he is going to pay his tuition, so as a joke with his friends he is looking for a suger daddy. But I love that Gabe doesn't use Brandon for his money and doesn't ask for it once. Brandon wants to help Gabe, so that's why he pays for multiple things, but Gabe is maybe even a bit uncomfortable with Brandon paying for so much and I loved that about their story. Gabe and Brandon were just the sweetest togheter. They started of as friends and the stay friends for a long part of the book, because they both think the other doens't feel the same way.
Brandon is a AHL hockey star and gets called up to the NHL in het same city Gabe lives in, so that's how they meet face to face. I loved the way the AHL and the pressure to play in the NHL were portraited by the author.
All in all, this story was really sweet!

Tropes:
🏒AHL/NHL
🖌️Strangers to friends to lovers
🏒Kinda suger daddy vibes
🖌️Art student x hockey player
🏒erotic art

Favorite quotes:

💕He was nervous. Brandon was nervous a lot. Gabe wanted to hold his hand.

❤️''My brain hasn't thought of anything except you since that first Zoom meeting.''

P.S. I received an ARC, but this is my honest opinion. Thank you to GRR and Hannah Henry for the ARC. I really enjoyed reading it.

Gabe is a mature college student trying to finish the final year of his degree. Desperate for money he finds himself looking for a sugar daddy who would be willing to help finance him. Due to the nature of how they meet it does take awhile for their relationship to grow into something based on feelings but a friendship does grow rather quickly. As their relationship does have an innate power imbalance I do feel they should have had a bigger discussion how things might change once they went from a fully transactional relationship to a genuine one based in love.

I enjoyed how deeply Henry showed us the emotional journey of Brandon as he travels up and down from AHL to NHL and the emotional take it can have on the players as they are so desperate to make it to the big show full-time.

Jackson and Ryan appearing in ‘Drawn to You’ was so fun and I loved the big brother to Brandon vibes they had and how they took him under their wing without question.

I am looking forward to reading about Brandon’s teammates.

This book was so catchy and such a great story.
Brandon, the professional hockey player chasing his NHL dream, and Gabe, the hardworking art student juggling multiple jobs, absolutely stole my heart. They meet in a creative writing class and what starts as a tentative friendship grows into something so much deeper. I’m not always a big slow-burn girl, but their journey felt so right every step from friends to partners made perfect sense for them.

What I loved most was how balanced their relationship felt, even though Brandon helps make Gabe’s life a little easier financially. He never makes Gabe feel “less than” because of his struggles, and instead you can see how much he admires Gabe’s grit and talent. Gabe’s art sounded incredible, and I adored the glimpses of his sketches and creative process. The side characters added such a rich “found family” vibe, from Gabe’s roommates to Brandon’s friends Jackson and Ryan, and it made the story feel warm and full of life.

A very brief, and not wholly accurate blurb: Gabe, a down on his financial luck student who is rich in friends, meets Brandon, a lonely, kindhearted caretaking hockey player in a virtual creative writing class... sparks and friendship ensue!!

This read felt like a gentle, cozy hug. One that I desperately needed. Once I started it and I got those sweet, yet painful tugs in my chest from the 'cute aggression'... I did not want to put it down.
Gabe's housemate-found family were fun. I loved Otis the cat. Brandon's hockey friends both AHL and NHL were big personalities, but endearing ones. Even Skylar's whining. ifykyk.

As a fan of Henry's completed hockey series, getting to spend page time with Jackson and Harper? GOLD.

If you're looking for a cozy, easy but with a few angsty/tense scenes (nothing super drawn out) than give this read a try!

The writing in this story is so lyrical and lovely.

An almost joke between Gabe and his housemates about Gabe finding a glucose guardian ends up with Gabe meeting Brandon, who is a closeted hockey player with an angsty backstory. He's the brother of a girl who is allergic to almost everything. He finds himself as a person among friends and players in his team, and meets Gabe in his online classes. While it isn't quite the situation Gabe and his housemates joke about, he and Brandon end up fake boyfriends and then real boyfriends and there is so much more to it. They fall in love with my favourite trope, oblivious pining that they want each other for real. But of course they figure it out. I love the side characters, Gabe's housemates are so fun, especially Parker who is adorable, and Brandon's teammates and friends are amazing.

I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

3.5 stars.

This is a really sweet read with a definite slow burn feeling to it. It works perfectly well as a standalone first book in a new series but does have some familiar faces from previous Hannah Henry books which were great to see again. Brandon is a caretaker through and through; he was consistently so sweet and giving. I felt a bit uncomfortable for me how easily Gabe continued to allow him to buy him everything but I did buy in to their friendship and the feelings that slowly developed there. There were plenty of brilliant secondary characters (both old and new) and I liked the 'hockey' moments of the story which brought a hint of action. For me, I'd probably have preferred a little more steam and a bit more wider plot action to happen but it was still a good mm romance with a nice HEA too. Overall, a good start and I'm looking forward to more from The Call-Ups when we see who's next!

I received an arc and this is my honest review.

Thank you for the book, here is my honest opinion:
This was lovely and kind of a gentle romance, Brandon and Gabe are quite lovely together. I will admit that the arrangement was a little silly but I honestly don’t mind, it got these two together. I appreciate that the author kept the premise light, Brandon is sort of an accidental sugar daddy. It does complicate things a bit, but really these two get what they need from the relationship. Brandon loves taking care of the people he cares about and Gabe has had to be self sufficient for so long, he really craves the attention and care (the money is nice too). I love how Hannah Henry writes hockey too, it’s definitely a highlight here for me. I loved the focus on the AHL/NHL call up process and especially thrilled to get to catch up with Jackson and Ryan. This was a lovely romance, with wonderful friendships, great world building, two MCs that are chasing their dreams, and a really satisfying HEA!

Drawn to You by Hannah Henry completely stole my heart. 💕 I picked it up thinking I’d read a few chapters, and next thing I knew it I was up to the epilogue—no regrets at all!

Brandon and Gabe were pure sweetness. Brandon is such a caretaker, so gentle, steady, and endlessly kind and Gabe slowly learning to accept that love just melted me. Their relationship grows from friendship into something real and beautiful, with a slow-burn build that feels so natural. Every moment they spent together was full of quiet affection and genuine connection.

The long-distance hockey life, the “artist hustle,” the found-family roommates, it all blended perfectly. I adored seeing Jackson and Ryan again (their cameo gave me happy chills), and I’m already itching for the next story.

Heartwarming, low-drama, and full of love and laughter, Drawn to You felt like being wrapped in a soft blanket after a long day.
