Tom Marlowe #10

Sentry Point

Rate this book
Some secrets were meant to stay buried.

Following the events of Shadow Threat, Tom Marlowe has a new role in MI5, a new team and a new purpose. However, when the mysterious CIA operative (and occasional ally to Tom) Sasha Bordeaux vanishes after being accused of high treason, her former partner Brad Haynes calls in a favour. He's the man in charge of hunting her down, but the deeper he digs, the more convinced he becomes that Sasha was framed - and he needs Tom's help to prove it.

Going off-books and under the radar, Marlowe and his team follow Sasha’s trail to Boston, where a Cold War-era listening post known as "Sentry Point," buried beneath the city’s North End — long decommissioned, never fully erased — may hold the key to the truth.

As Marlowe uncovers a conspiracy tied to long-forgotten operations, assassinations, and a secret list of names marked for silence, he realises Sasha wasn’t running—she was hunting.

But someone’s hunting them both.

Interesting premise, full of holes but good enough for me not to really care.

Interestingly implausible story, but a rollicking ride none-the-less. I'm mean, it's not like we read this stuff for an accurate portrayal of the facts now, is it?
Less editing errors, which was nice. Less obvious amateur AI interference. Also gratifying.
Please keep it up. I'm sure your audience is more interested in your wild imaginative ideas than anything not coming from your, hopefully, well organised, personal notes on the narrative.
Keep the control to keep our interest...& you've even managed to create a new, greater, super villain to pursue.
Let's see if you can keep that going without it all becoming too tedious.

Love Tom Marlowe

Another seat of your pants read! I love this series, although some solutions to problems are a little too conveniently solved without adequate explanation therefore seeming like magic, which these characters definitely don’t do! However, whilst that is mildly annoying and I found this to be true more in this book than any of the others, it’s not a dealbreaker! Great read.

Tom Marlowe and his team are caught in another international conspiracy, stretching farther than they can imagine. The CIA Deputy Director asks Sasha Bordeaux to investigate an old spy network, supposedly decommissioned in the 1980s. What she discovers could get her killed, and she calls on Marlowe and his team to help her survive and uncover the truth. Another solid spy thriller!

You really need to read this one

Great story and a very good read. The characters are believable; the story could appear on the nightly news any time. The problem is that it just might happen!

Sentry Point by Jack Gatland is book 10 in the Tom Marlowe series. Sasha Bordeaux, an agent for the CIA, becomes a target and is on the run after she did her job too well and found something she was not supposed to find. Her colleague, Brad Haynes, contacts Tom and together with the team, they try to find her. I could feel the threat to Marlowe and the sense of danger. The tension is palpable and the excitement grips you. The plot tends to the complex rather than being simple, but the different strands weave together without a hitch. The different characters all bring something different to the story. It’s a thrilling story and you need to hang on as it races along.
