Very food focused. There is delight in the whimsy and childlike curiosity in the way the gang discover wondrous springs of food in their world. I felt a lot of intrigue in wondering how such events occur; I hope the sense of mystery remains as the world is all the more interesting by its unanswered absurdity.
I thoroughly enjoyed Shisa getting time to shine. They are inspiring with their dedication and lust for life. The stone snake arc was a nice touch of equal parts danger and mystery, a bit of a supernatural/yokai experience perhaps. Oda returning was fun as well and he felt like a natural nighttime companion to Kurimanju.
The world maintains its unique aura and the characters are charming as ever.
As strife continues to creep up on the cast, the series does become more engaging. It is hard to speak to a series like Chiikawa cause it really is just so vibes based. Like the front of the book says, Chiikawa really just follows "something small and cute." That's a good thing. It is nice to have a simple series told simply, but one that is still willing to deal with the complications that arise in a characters life. It's pleasant.
