SHADOWS WITHIN
A Psychological Thriller by Jeff Crosby

Jonah Carter lives two lives.
In one, he’s a quiet, forgettable man with a family he loves and a job he never misses. In the other, he’s a ghost—traveling across state lines, taking assignments from a faceless handler, and erasing names from existence with the steady pull of a trigger.

He tells himself it’s justified. That the people on his list deserve it. That this is service—just under a different flag.

But the cracks are forming.

What begins as a routine hit shakes something loose. A moment of hesitation. A child's juice box on the pavement. A face he can’t forget. Jonah finds himself unraveling, haunted by memories he’s buried and questions he can no longer silence.

As the line between justice and murder begins to blur, Jonah is forced to confront the one truth he’s spent his life
He might not be working for the people he thinks he is.

Shadows Within is a haunting, slow-burn thriller that explores the weight of guilt, the fragility of memory, and the long road toward redemption. Beneath the surface, it’s also something more—a quiet allegory for grace, hidden in the shadows of a broken man’s soul.

I listened to the audio of this book, and it took me way too long to realize that the chapters had names. Or I’m assuming they did. Either that or I’m just very confused. I originally was going to give 3 stars, but once I (think I) figured that out, I restarted the book and got more into it. I probably would have enjoyed it more as a physical book as opposed to audio format. Interesting concept.
