Book #4 from the Capitol K-9 Unit series. White House tour director Selena’s office is broken into and then later she is attacked in the parking garage. Somebody is after information Selena has--possibly pertaining to an ongoing murder investigation, so K-9 officer Nicholas and his dog, Max, are sent to protect her. An okay enough read with two very likable lead characters and a wonderful dog, but the story itself was a bit run-of-the-mill with the heroine-in-peril/hero-protector theme, and I never found myself as invested in the story as I hoped I would be. The mystery surrounding Selena is solved by the end, while the ongoing mystery running throughout the series still remains unsolved.
Security Breach is book four in the Capitol K-9 Unit continuity series. This is a series where each book is written by a different author. I have not read books one through three in the series, and had no trouble at all understanding this book. It is definitely capable of standing alone.
I really enjoyed the pace of Security Breach. It never lags and it seems that something is happening at every turn of the story. The book kept me interested from the start to the finish, and although I had my suspicions as to who the villain was, I had no idea why the crimes were being committed. There were a lot of great twists and turns in the plot that kept me wondering who the characters could trust.
Selena and Nicholas, the main characters, were very likeable. Although at the beginning of the book they seemed like opposites, it became clear as the plot continued that they were actually very compatible. I loved the way their romance progressed and felt it was very believable.
I definitely recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense and look forward to reading future books in the series.
My thanks to the author for the complimentary copy of this book that I received in exchange for an honest review.
Security Breach ( Capital K-9 Unit #4 ) Margaret Daley Security Breach is the fourth book in the Capital K-9 Unit series, but it can be read as a stand alone. I had no problems following the story or the characters. Margaret Daley has did it again, she has weaved together a book full of action, adventure, and romance suspense. Margaret Daley does not disappoint me. Yes , this story does involve the White House and the Capital K-9 Unit. You will meet the White House Tour Director, Selena. Then there is Officer Nicholas and his dog, Max, which is a Rottweiler. I loved Nicholas and Max, but you want both of them on your side. Be ready when you start reading Security Breach for it will grab you right from the start. There is so much going on in this story that you do want to remember to breathe. Be sure and get your copy of Security Breach, and read for yourself about this exciting book that you do not want to miss out on. I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review, which I have given.
Another wonderful tale of romance and suspense from Margaret Daley. As with all of her stories Security Breach delivers danger, excitement, and lots of spine-tingling moments.
This is part of a continuity series and I have to admit that I haven't read the previous three books yet. One of things I like about these series's is that they can be read as a set or individually. They ultimately fit together but each is a complete story on its own.
I absolutely loved that this was a dog story. As a person with dogs I really enjoy the K-9 stories. I totally fell in love with Max and especially liked each scene he snuck into.
The Love Inspired Suspense books are just the right size for an afternoon's read. Security Breach was just that, exciting, hard to put down, and an enjoyable read. If you are looking for a nice summer read than try Margaret Daley's latest.
(I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.)
Wow, what a wonderful book. I loved this story. This is the 4th book in the K-9 Unit series. Each book is written by a different author, but even not reading the others this book was easy to follow along. I truly feel it's a stand alone book. It's full of suspense and interlaced with a romance. The plot flows effortlessly. Margaret Daley never disappoints me with her writing. We meet White House tour director Selena Barrow and Capitol K-9 officer Nicholas Cole. They take the reader on a suspenseful journey of intrigue and murder, but could Selena has another problem she is battling. The closer she becomes to Nicholas the deeper her feelings become and with him trying to protect her from an unknown enemy there's just no escaping these feelings. A wonderful book I would recommend to anyone. I received this book from the author for a honest review without bias.
Book 4 in the Capitol K-9 Unit continuity series. We're getting closer to the truth and I'm so excited to read the next two books. No worries if you haven't read the first three (though they are excellent suspense stories) -- Security Breach reads well as a stand alone. Just keep in mind that there's one aspect of the suspense that carries through all the books that remains unsolved at the end of this one. Daley still gives great closure to the suspense thread specific to this book and Selena and Nicholas do get their happily ever after.
Tons of intrigue, a toe-curling romance, a stalwart K-9 (Max is my hero!) and tons of suspects make this one page-turner of a read. The kind of book I find hard to put down. A stellar romantic suspense.
4/5 Erin's cousin, Selena is trying her best to investigate the case of the murder to prove her cousin's innocence. She believed that Erin is not the culprit and the killer is still out there. Because of her getting the clues, she is also in grave danger. Nicholas and also his dog Max were sent to protect her because she was attacked by someone. She, Nicholas and his dog Max worked together to find who is after her. An innocent man was framed and they are going to figure who is the culprit of this case. As they are investigating the case, they both fell in love with each other in the progress. And also Nicholas managed to get something out of the little boy Tommy who still had nightmares about that night. And Erin's father which is Selena's uncle whom had never like Selena because she looked exactly like his drug addict sister and also the whole reason that Selena is afraid to love someone because she is afraid that she will end up like her mother. But she is not her mother. Can't spoil much of the story you will have to find out what will happen to them in the story because it is a suspense story can't tell you the whole story.
This book is the fourth book of the series by 6 different authors. So it is an ongoing case with a few cases that are related along the way. Can't wait to find out who is the mastermind of the case. We are getting nearer to find out who it is.
Really am enjoying this series. High action and excitement. the White House tour director Selena Barrow is attacked in her office the Capitol K-9 unit goes on high alert. For some reason someone is trying to kill Selena but no one knows why. K-9 officer Nicholas Cole and his dog Max are tasked with protecting her and trying to find out who is after her. They begin investigating a case that Selena was looking into before the attacks started. Will they find out what is going on and who is behind these attacks? Will Selena survive? What about her uncle the Senator? What is is connection to these attacks? Is this related to Senator Jeffries' son being killed previously?
Fast, action-packed story. The story was a nice addition to the Capitol K-9 Unit series. Selena and Nicolas were introduced at the end of the first book. I knew they would be a book by themselves and I hoped that Daley would be the author. Daley writes such interesting stories and she doesn't get too preachy. I wasn't disappointed. Two strong independent people learn to trust each other and learn to give up the past for a future together. You should definitely give this book a read. Heck I can definitely recommend the whole series.
White House tour director Selena, planned an Easter Hunt that was a big success, she has an uncle who is a senator. His daughter Erin is missing, and wanting for questioning. Serena is attached twice, notebooks taken, is this trying to jstop her from investigating. Nickolas and his dog, come repeatly to her rescue. A well thought out plot with the political aspect, and to a murder investigation. You are observing, and trying to figure out who, want the investigation stopped, and where is Erin. A definite story and series to read.
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. I look forward to reading her other books.
I loved Nicholas throughout this series and was looking forward to his book. It did not disappoint and he and Selena were good together. This story moved right along and was full of action, mystery and suspense. The romance was just enough that didn’t take away from the storyline. It was also nice to have the crime solved.
This book seemed to have the same plot outline as one of the earlier books in this series. I did like the hero Nicholas, who was a character in other books in the series; and I loved his K-9 partner Max. I found this book slower to read and had a hard time getting into the story. It still provided good escape.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I hope that the author decides to continue this story. It could use a sequel, to tie up loose ends that were left in this book. I have read other books by this author, and I enjoy reading her work. This one is fine as is, but it would be an enjoyable read to have a part 2 for those who want to know more.
Serena Barrow, tour director at the White House, is convinced her cousin Erin Eagleton is innocent of the death of the Congressman's son.
She is upset no-one in law enforcement seems to believe her.
So she is going to prove it.
Only someone doesn't want her to, and now Selena's life is in danger.
This is a good continuation to the Capitol K-9 Unit continuity and I really love the dogs from the K-9 Unit which have a huge part to play in this series. I really enjoyed the Texas K-9 Unit continuity which came out in 2013, and so am really pleased to have another series featuring the dogs and their protection skills.
I'm still really puzzled with this one. My suspect remains the same, but I still can't work out who else is involved! I'm now over halfway through the series, and am really intrigued as to how this is all going to work out. I hope I figure it out soon! :)
You really do need to read these books in order as each book, while a story on its own, also has a plot which runs and develops through all the 6 books, building up to the grand finale in book 6. This means that you will not only want to read this book, but also the other 5 in the series! So if you are looking for a one off story to read, then this is not the book for you. However, if you are short of reading material and want a series to get you going, then you might want to try out this miniseries.
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Also coming out near Christmas time there is another book centered around the K-9 Unit which I'm looking forward to reading:
As I am sure I have mentioned before, I thoroughly enjoy reading book in the Love Inspired Suspense line of books. When the name on the cover is Margaret Daley I love it all the more.
Security Breach is the fourth book in the "Capitol K-9 Unit" series and doesn't hit the bookshelves until June. While I haven't read the first three books in the series yet, I can say that Security Breach can stand alone to an extent. But, personally, I wish I had read the first three books in the series first, as references are made in regards to what I am sure occurred in those books. Of course, because it is a continuity series, the thread that runs through all the books will most likely not be tied up until the last book.
What I really love about a Margaret Daley book is her believable characters and the twists and turns that keep me on the edge of my seat until I turn the last page. Security Breach didn't disappoint me. Her heroine, Selena Barrow is a White House tour director and her hero is Officer Nicholas Cole a member of the Capitol K-9 Unit. Selena's cousin is a person of interest in the shooting of a congressman and Selena wants to prove her innocence. When she gets a little too close to discovering information that could potentially clear her cousin she is attacked. Nicholas and his K-9 partner. Max, take on the job of protecting Selena. As the story progresses more attacks ensue.
If you love suspense novels and want to invest in a fantastic series, I would highly recommend picking up the books in this series. They are Protection Detail, by Shirlee McCoy (March), Duty Bound Guardian, by Terry Reed (April), Trail of Evidence, by Lynette Eason (May), Security Breach, by Margaret Daley (June), Detecting Danger by Valerie Hansen (July) and Proof of Innocence, by Lenora Worth (August).
On a 5-Star scale - 5 Stars!!!!!
I would like to thank Margaret Daley for my copy of Security Breach. I received my copy for free in order to read it and give my honest review, which I have done.
As an allergy-sufferer, I tend to shy away from contact with animals. However, I love a good story with an amazing dog like Max, the Rottweiler in this installment of the Capitol K-9 Unit series. The human hero and heroine were quite interesting as well. There is much about the inner workings of Washington, DC, that most of us will never know about but get brief glimpses of what goes on through stories like this one. Margaret Daley does a great job of cracking the blinds as she delves into the lives of a Capitol K-9 officer and the presidential tour director while they seek to learn the truth about the murders of a Congressional intern and an attorney, the son of a prominent Congressman. The officer is just doing his job but the tour director is trying to clear the name of her cousin, the daughter of another important Congressman. It is fascinating to watch them try to decide if they can trust each other when so many people around them have proven untrustworthy. Initially it seems their faith is the only thing they have in common. It is definitely the thing that helps to keep them on balance as one attack after another occurs. I recommend the book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Security Breach is an exciting story full of twists, turns, and surprises! The action begins with an intruder at the White House and escalates to more sinister attacks. Officer Nicholas Cole and his canine partner, Max, must work to solve the case and protect White House tour director Selena Barrow. Who is behind the attacks and why are they being committed? Those questions and more kept me turning the pages of this action-packed story. I loved the imagery and details of the White House and Capitol Hill events, as well as the political and romantic elements of this story.
I really enjoyed Security Breach and look forward to reading the other books in this series. Security Breach is the fourth installment in the Capitol K-9 Unit continuity series, which begins with Protection Detail by Shirlee McCoy and will conclude with Proof of Innocence by Lenora Worth.
I received a complimentary copy of Security Breach from the author. I appreciate the opportunity to read this book and share my honest opinion.
Nice mix of suspense and romance with a light mix of inspirational that doesn't feel preachy, but real. Heroine works for the White House, planning public events. Hero does too, but in security with his trained rottweiler. This is apparently part of a series with an overarching crime to be solved, and smaller issues in each book. In this one, the heroine is trying to investigate the "big" murder of a congressman's son to exonerate her cousin who is wanted for questioning because she disappeared at the time and was the guy's friend or maybe girlfriend-- that part wasn't real clear. The heroine's keys are stolen, her office is burgled, and then her home ransacked. The hero was already attracted to her and now takes on the job of protecting her. She's been looking into some of the dead guy's cases, and one of them-- a murder with a possibly innocent man convicted for it-- seems to have started all the burglary.
Security Breach by Margaret Daley is another spellbinding inspirational romance. From the first page to the last the reader is taken on an adventure. White House tour director, Selena Barrow is attacked in her office and the Capital K-9 unit goes on high alert. Selena has been collecting evidence to exonerate her cousin who is a person of interest in a congressman’s shooting and who also is missing or thought dead! Officer Nicholas Cole and his dog, Max, step in to protect Selena. Does Nicholas’ interest in Selena go beyond the case? Will Selena find herself becoming dependent on Nicholas when she has been taking care of herself for years? Max, the Rottweiler is adorable, obedient and trained to perfection, but still lovable when off-duty. I enjoy every book I read written by Margaret Daley. Her books are inspiring and well-written. An enjoyable read!
Security Breach, Capitol K-9 Unit Series by Margaret Daley Love Inspired Suspense ISBN: 9780373446728
Margaret Daley has hit it out the ball park once again. Security Breach is riveting, has action around every corner and keeps you at the edge of your seat. I fell in love with this book from the very start. I highly recommend reading this book and any other by Margaret Daley. Being a animal lover, I found Capital K-9 doggie officer Max was irresistible. I found his character to be very enjoyable. I just wish my own furry friends were as well trained. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I want to thank the author and publisher for publishing Christian books that are entertaining and inspire the readers with stories of faith.
This is the latest in the circle of stories around a series of murders in Washington, DC. This time up it's Serena, Nick and canine, Max. Selena works at the White House as tour director and cousin to the missing woman tied to the 1st murder.
Nick is a former Navy Seal who is juggling investigating Selena to see what she knows of her cousin's disappearance and doing double duty as a volunteer and investigator with a foster child believed to have witnesses that murder.
Max is a Rottweiler.
Another murder pops up in this one and at least this one gets solved. Nice couple but some big plot holes. At one point I was waiting for our heroine to die her hair blonde, put on a skimpy bathing suit and go into the basement by herself to investigate a noise. Just like in those horror movies it was obvious something was about to happen.
I just finished reading Margaret Daley’s book, Secret Breach. I loved this story, full of adventure and suspense. It keeps your attention throughout the whole book. It was hard to put it down. I so enjoyed getting to know Nicholas and Selena. They had quite the adventures and full of suspense for sure. They were quite a couple of friends. I was grateful for a good ending after going through all the suspense and drama. I highly recommend reading this book. Do not want to say too much about this story because it might spoil it for you. You need to hang in suspense throughout the story. You will not be sorry for reading it.
The Security Breach by Margaret Daley in the Capital K-9 Unit Love Inspired Suspense series is another suspenseful story that has you keep turning the pages to find out if what is happening to Selena is connected to Michael's murder. Nicholas and Max, his K-9, work hard to protect Selena and find out the person who is attacking Selena and her uncle, Senator Eagleton. Can Selena and Nicholas overcome their trust issues to solve the crime and find happiness? Margaret Daley has you hooked from the beginning to the end with many twists and turns that has you drawn in for the great read.
Security Breach is the fourth installment of the capital K-9 Unit series. Margaret Daley is the master at grabbing a reader's attention from the start of the book and continue to do so till the end. This book is full of action, suspense, mystery, and adventure. I loved Selena and Nicholas and, especially, his Rottweiler, Max. I thought this book to be a great read. I had it read in just a couple of hours-Couple of hours well spent.
