Very good book. When Rafe found out that his family is being asked to resume the throne of their homeland he is put under a lot of pressure. Needing to get away for awhile, he heads to Key West, where he has a smoking hot weekend with Emily. Both are aware that's all they'll have, until Emily discovers she's pregnant.
The daughter of a single mother herself, Emily is determined that her child will know who its father is. She doesn't expect anything from Rafe, she just wants him to be aware. She has her own life and dreams and is quite used to taking care of herself.
Rafe is still reeling from the news that he's expected to give up his business and become king of a country he's never been to before. There are expectations about his behavior and his future, and a great deal of pressure from his family and others. He's not so sure that he's up to the challenge, or even that he wants it. When Emily shows up and tells him about the baby, it's one more thing that he has to make a decision about.
I loved seeing the relationship that built between Rafe and Emily. Emily knows that there is no way she can be a permanent part of Rafe's life, but they will be connected through their child forever. She's surprised when Rafe insists on getting to know her better. The chemistry between them is as hot as ever, and she's afraid that she's losing her heart to him. She's not surprised by his offer of marriage, but she's certain that it isn't truly the right thing to do. She would never be the right person to be a queen, and she doesn't want to stand in his way of being king. Rafe wants Emily and his baby in his life, and marriage is the best way to do that. He also knows that Emily isn't going to be easy to convince to take that step. I liked how well he understood her, and how he used his knowledge to try to court her. I really liked seeing how protective he was, especially when he realized that she wasn't used to anyone taking care of her.
Rafe had a lot going on as he tried to sort everything out. I was really hoping that his family would be more supportive, but they really frustrated me. His father, since he couldn't be king himself, seemed to be intent on living it through Rafe. I didn't like the way he treated Emily when he met her. Gabe seemed to be the most understanding of his dilemma, but had an agenda of his own. Rafe's sister Bella was the nicest to Emily, and the most supportive of the idea of Rafe marrying Emily. The one that really bugged me was his cousin Juan Carlos. He was constantly nagging Rafe about the things he should be doing and telling him that he wasn't doing things right. I thought he was really obnoxious, and that maybe it was jealousy that had him being such a jerk. Rafe really hated that his life seemed destined to be run by committee.
When things finally came to a head, both Rafe and Emily had to face up to their fears and feelings. There were some things said that hurt, but in the long run brought them back together. The scene in the boardroom with his family and the "committee" made my heart ache for Rafe, but also made me want to cheer for what he did. I loved the ending and look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.

This is a very good book. I was quite fond of the main characters and it was such a change of pace for the hero to immediately want the child and woman of his weekend fling.
Rafe was somewhat trapped into becoming the king of his family's ancestral homeland. Emily, a Key West bartender and commoner, wants her child to know his father but she'll do nothing to block Rafe's ascent to the throne.
They have chemistry that wont be denied. What will Rafe do? Rule or abdicate?

This book was very good.I thought it was romantic and very well written.I couldn't put it down.It ended much too soon.I wanted to read more.

Emily is a bartender, who had a one weekend fling with Rafe, a successful business man. Then she finds out she is pregnant, at the same time he finds out that his family is being called back to their home country to re-take the throne, which means Rafe is to be King.
Emily is staunchly independent and doesn't want anything from Rafe other than she wants her child to know who their father is, as she never knew her father. Rafe wants to do right by Emily and the baby, but also wants to do right by his family and assume the throne as they all need him to do. The more he tries to figure out how to make both happen, the more he learns about how deeply he feels for Emily, and the more he realizes that he can't please everyone.
I really liked Emily's strength and how much she refused to compromise her own happiness just to keep the peace with everyone else. Rafe is a really good man, always out to do the right thing.

I received this book for free via Goodreads First Reads.
First of all this book arrived nicely packaged in a bow with a free pen, bookmark and other little goodies. That was a great touch by the author and much appreciated.
I got back into serious reading about a year ago and gave myself the challenge of 'any book, any genre'. This book is in a new genre for me and not one I ever thought about reading in the past. I have to say I enjoyed the book from start to finish. I liked the two main characters and a part of me was willing them on throughout the story
I know this genre is mostly marketed to women (and possibly those of a certain age) but I was genuinely surprised how good this book was. Now and again I am disappointed by a book from the start so it is a pleasure when one surprises me as much as this did. I would recommend it to any adult reader who is prepared to expand their reading and the genres they will read.

This book was ok. It didn't have much drama at all, and didn't have anything that happened to make my heart rate speed up. It was a sweet romance, with lots of red HOT passion filled nights. The chemistry between Emily, and Rafe was intense.
Emily is a bartender in Key West. Her life is there, and so is her mom, step dad, and friends. She can't imagine living anywhere else. Key West Florida is her home. She spends one weekend with Rafe. Then she finds out that weekend lead to pregnancy. She finds out his family is being called back to Alma, a small country. Rafe is set to be the next King.
Rafe is torn by what to do. He wants to be by Emily's side, and be a dad to their unborn child. He always wants to please his family, and do what is right. He wants to be king.

I needed way more tension and I needed way more angst. It was too fluffy and perfect in the beginning. I skimmed a couple of pages because I couldn't bring myself to care about the sex scenes.

I felt even though Emily was being independent and true to her beliefs that Rafe gave more and possibly everything to be with the one he loved. Emily did not give up anything

Finished it only because I was near the end. I’ve read this author before and she normally writes decent romance. This was bland and unromantic. The heorine was annoying… the chemistry nonexistent and unbelievable.

The realist in me found the storyline somewhat unbelievable. The romantic in me thoroughly enjoyed the romance between Rafe and Emily.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I think this would be a great beach read, something you can enjoy while lounging by the pool and enjoying a fun, umbrella drink.
Rafe and Emily start out with a two-night stand, which changes completely when Emily finds out she's pregnant. She does the honorable thing by telling him and I'm glad he doesn't question whether or not its his. They start hanging out more together and learn more about the person they are now thrown together with.
The other portion of the story is that Rafe is the rightful heir to the throne in Alma, a small country. He has to determine how he is going to mix Emily and his life as the rightful king of Alma.
I liked the ending, although it wasn't the one I was expecting (no spoilers here).

Katherine Garbera - L'héritier des Montoro : 3/5 Histoire assez classique mais mignonne. L'héroïne est très indépendante et assez sûre d'elle, ça change des oies blanches, et le héros n'est pas dominateur mais gentil et compréhensif.

Emily Fielding meets Rafe Montoro when she is bartending . Rafe is in key west to have a break from the pressure he is under as he must take the throne in his homeland. What becomes a very romantic tryst between them must come to an end and Emily knows its just for this short time. What she didn't know is that she would end up pregnant which complicates everything as she is a commoner. She just wants Rafe to know he is a father as she didn't want her child to grown up not knowing his father like she did. All sounds good just tell him your expecting and go on your way. Not happening, their chemistry together is too strong for that. Another great book in the "Dynasties: The Montoros. Ms Garbera pulls you in from the very beginning and you can only hope the find their HEA

She tells him just before he is to leave town to go back to his homeland to become King of the country. Rafe have to choose between love and country. He picks the love of his life and his child. A good read.

As with every book she writes, we are taken on the journey of many emotions on the part of an expectant mother expecting love but knowing it is impossible between royalty and a commoner. The father also has his emotions laid bare as he grieves for what normally cannot happen.
This is a wonderful book in keeping with Katherine Garbera's other books.

I won this book in a Goodreads First Reads giveaway a while ago, but have only just got around to reading it. I thank the author for the nice finishing touches that was sent with the book.
Loved the story, but as usual, I rarely write what a story is about for fear of spoiling for others. Recommended.

Liked the romance, but was disappointed in the ending and the way Rafe was treated by his family. I wished for more resolution in that respect.
