More silly shorts from the Land of Ooo to tickle your funny bone!
Based on the popularity of the first Adventure Time collection of short stories, we've collected a second edition of the mini adventures produced for the smash hit KaBOOM! comic series! ADVENTURE TIME fans can continue to cherish interpretations of Finn and Jake and the Land of Ooo produced to date in a second stunning, over-sized collectible hardcover!
Roger Langridge has been producing comics for over twenty years. Most recently, he has attracted critical attention for his work on the Harvey Award-winning Muppet Show Comic Book (Boom! Studios) and Thor: The Mighty Avenger (Marvel Comics); other works of note include Marvel's Fin Fang Four, Fantagraphics' Zoot! and Art d'Ecco (in collaboration with his brother Andrew), and the NCS, Ignatz, Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated comic book Fred the Clown. He currently lives in London with his wife Sylvie, their two children and a box of his own hair.
A few of the shorts were a bit meh, but for the most part they were brilliant. :) most were great. There were only two or three that left me shaking my head.
"Who are you dressed up as? Just some idiot. Cool! I love Barbarians!" A collection of very short stories that will melt your brain. Way too many dreadful sugary shorts than there are pleasant ones. Pfft... and what is this? A split second of Party Pat.... well well well no party streamers for you! "Wash yo hands cuz im the masta.... Its party time so grab yo hamsta"
More brief Ooo encounters, with creators such as Roger Langridge and Noelle Stevenson dropping in - though another name contributor, Sina Grace, is responsible for one of the weakest entries. Includes the Hallowe'en special, some of which was genuinely unnerving - not least Frazer Irving's art on a tale of moustache-based identity horror.
Sadly, my least favorite shorts thus far (I've been reading out of order). Definitely some great art and a few good stories, but not as many as I would have hoped.
Another cute, funny, unexpected, and surreal jaunt through the Land of Ooo, courtesy of a host of talented artists and writers dipping their toes into the always imaginative pool of Adventure Time! The shorts our favorite characters to all manner of bizarre and hopping places, including the Lemongrab's beach picnic, the Ivory Tower, and even a world where everyone, sans poor old Starchy, has a mustache. A few of them end a little abruptly, with little explanation or relation to anything we've seen before, but that's expected in a space where the creators are given carte blanche to explore. I'd say that, above everything, the shorts really do capture the voice and spirit of the show, and I particularly enjoy the little cameos of minor characters, like Party Pat. Of course, my favorite short involved a new character, the spooky Pumpkin Princess, aiding Tree Trunk's special Halloween pumpkin pie baking. All in all, definitely worth a quick read!
Eh, it was okay. My favourites were Heart and The Lemon Sea. loved them
but overall the stories weren't all that fun and most of the art styles got confusing because the packed so much detail and colour in tiny panels. I would still recommend it if you're a huge fan and would like to see a bit more of the a.t world. The thing I love most is that anything is possible and there's still so much to explore in this universe
