Grace Bryant strives to keep God first. As the owner of Delilah’s Diner, a soul food restaurant on Detroit’s west side, she always goes out of her way to give back to the community. Grace is an active member of New Kingdom Baptist Church and she never hesitates to help those in need. Unfortunately, it’s easier for Grace to do nice things for strangers than for members of her own family. Grace has lived alone for almost twenty years. She is estranged from her daughter, Shareece, a socialite who lives in a luxurious mansion with a husband who spends his money freely. Grace’s son, Montez, has been in prison for most of his adult life. When he finally gets paroled, Montez is confronted with temptation. While he struggles to adjust to life on the outside, the entire family is forced to confront hidden truths. Can Montez stay on the right track or is he headed back to prison? Will Shareece make the right decision about her health and her life? Can Grace finally face her own demons before it’s too late? Reverend Foster from Sade Morrison’s debut Christian fiction novel, “Papa Don’t Preach” returns to put a new twist on this family’s unique and challenging circumstances. In Sade Morrison’s follow-up Christian fiction novel, characters speak from the heart and connect to each other through prayer, love, laughter, and delicious soul food. “Bridge Over Troubled Water” is all about letting go of shame, relinquishing pain, and embracing God’s countless blessings.

Loved it!

Great read & tear jerker (yes I cried) . This is my 3rd book I’ve read by Sade C. Morrison and I am loving her work. This book shows a lot to what goes on behind closed doors that friends and family may know nothing about and how a lot of secrets are kept and how things get swept under the rug. And shows a woman’s strength and courage to fight.

This was an okay read. It was based on Domestic Violence. Grace went thru a lot. Floyd had mistreated her for a long time. He had no sympathy; he did it in front of their kids. The fact that he beat her and made her miscarry a baby was the worst thing he could have done. Shareece... she loved her father so much that she blamed her mother.....Montez....loved his mother so much that he could not stand to see his father continuously beat his mother, Grace. It took a lot for Montez to shoot his father. I was glad Shareece came around at the end and realized how badly Garrett treated her and tried to keep her away from her family. Junior always cared for his grandmother and Uncle no matter what.....

This is a very thoughtful written book about the serious issue of domestic violence....however, it also addresses the struggle that many men face with re-entry into society after spending many years in jail. The support, and most importantly the Christian based focus makes this book a really good read for just about anyone. The author does a great job with making you feel like you are really there with the characters and the modern day inserts are truly believable. I look forward to seeing more from this author.

Crossing over troubled water

This book started off on a slow pace.I'm the reader that want the excitement at the beginning. Some of the situations at the beginning kept my interest. The story kept my attention as I was reading it.This book has a very good story line.It focus on spousal abuse in all forms and it's side effects.I will recommend this book to all ladies especially those in abusive relationships.Abuse is more than someone hitting you.

This book was an ok read. I felt sorry that Grace and Montez had to go thru the things they went thru. I felt sorry for Shareece that she was so into material things to the point that she would turn on her family. I never regretted that Montez had to do what he had to do in order to save his mom. I commend that he said he would do it all over again. Garrett was just an ass all together.

I wasn't big on Christian novels, but since I've read "PAPA DON'T PREACH" and now "BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER"I just can't put them down! Sade Morrison takes real life situations and adds the power of GOD! If you haven't read her books your missing out!
