When a GRIM reaper and an assassin team up, sparks fly and people die. Will you be next?
Sand Reap is the nicest Galactic Reclamation Immigration Marshal (GRIM) you hope to never meet. Until now, his life bordered on the mundane: Extract souls wrongly distributed to Earth or those deemed damaged beyond repair. Return said soul to the Galactic Order of Demons and Saints (GODS). No questions asked. Oh, and tell no one what he is and who he works for. Ever.
Sounds simple, right? Except Sand’s human. He makes mistakes. He has bad hair days, and most of the time, he’s trying not to get himself killed.
And lately the cosmos have gone crazy.
Sand’s handler has gone missing, replaced by a new one in serious need of parenting. A rogue GRIM hijacks souls throughout his territory. And a woman with a dark past stirs more than his old soul, which could prove deadly not only for her—but for him.

Quella scena per me è un NO. No, grazie! Attendiamo i prossimi volumi? Sì, senza fretta però. ENG Sand Reap is a GRIM (Galactic Reclamation and Immigration Marshal) whose role is to collect the souls of people who have died or been misplaced by the GODS (Galactic Order of Demons and Saints). He has a Handler to help him understand which souls to collect; Handlers are souls that only GRIMs can see. There are other acronyms and definitions in the story, but these are all you need for now. At his usual bar, at his usual jukebox, listening to his usual song, Sand waits for his handler, Harry, to tell him which soul will be next. Instead, however, a new and different soul appears: Jenny. She tells Sand that the next soul he must retrieve is Kat's. Kat is the bartender he has a crush on who works in the "usual bar." Wanting to make sure the information is correct, Sand stalls and asks Jenny to investigate further. I'm undecided about this story. On the one hand, it's not bad. Of all the characters, I liked Jenny and Kat. The world explained in the first chapter, with all its rules, isn't bad either. However, the story doesn't easily get going: in the first chapters, Sand speaks directly to the reader in a tone that didn't engage me. He sometimes describes people and things with too many adjectives, making it seem like a grammar exercise or rap. There are some very long-winded descriptions, such as the extensive digression about his plane. The ending is absurd. I mean, we have GRIM, superkillers, and Jenny—that's fine. But there's a scene near the end that's too disturbing. I won't reveal it because it's a spoiler. That scene is a no for me. No, thank you! Are we waiting for the next volumes? Yes, but there's no rush. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
3-3.5 stars. Quick, easy read. Interesting twist on the grim reaper. There are some mysteries that aren't resolved (barely addressed) that will probably feature in the next issue. I like the main character and his background. I don't buy Kat yet and don't see how he told her his reality and she didn't run screaming.
