Elizabeth lives in Houston and serves alongside her husband and children at a small Baptist church. She homeschools her three girls and enjoys bringing them up in the ways of the LORD. She has been writing since she was a child, and honed her craft as she grew older. Her passion is for writing Christian fiction dealing with hard life issues and the redemption that only God can bring. Elizabeth is also an editor for writers who need a helping hand. When editing, she loves sharing her art for bringing a story to life with others and enjoys watching a writer when they catch the flame of passionate writing. When she isn't writing or editing, Elizabeth can be found at the church with her family or teaching piano lessons to those with a longing to use their talent for Christ. She also enjoys puzzles and playing with her kids and the dog, Django. And she is majorly addicted to all things coffee.
Wow. Shattered Resolve hit me right in the gut in the best way possible. This book isn't just a story it's a deep emotional journey of healing, pain, and the long road to redemption. Elizabeth Morquecho writes with such heart that I found myself completely immersed in Josh Cameron’s fractured world from the very first page.
Josh is a character you don't just read about you feel him. His brokenness, his self-destructive choices, his hardened defenses all of it made me ache for him. His past haunts every decision he makes, and as much as I wanted to shake him at times, I also understood why he ran, why he resisted help, and why love felt like a foreign concept to him.
Jordan Hendricks, on the other hand, was a much-needed breath of stability. His return into Josh’s life felt like a lifeline, but not a magical fix. Their dynamic is raw, sometimes tense, but always genuine. Morquecho does a beautiful job showing how difficult it can be to love someone who’s not ready to be loved and how sometimes, just being there can make all the difference.
One of the most powerful moments for me was when Josh wakes up, cuffed to a hospital bed, after nearly destroying himself. That scene was heartbreaking but pivotal it felt like the turning point where everything began to shift, slowly and painfully. The line between hope and despair is so thin throughout the novel, and Morquecho keeps you walking it with the characters.
This isn’t a fluffy redemption story it’s gritty, emotional, and at times uncomfortable. But that’s what makes it feel so real. Shattered Resolve is a story about second chances, but more importantly, about earning them. It's about learning to let go of shame, facing the parts of yourself you’d rather bury, and finding the courage to start over.
Morquecho delivers a raw and moving story about love, survival, and the fragile balance between hope and despair. Josh’s journey is heartbreaking yet deeply human, and Jordan’s presence brings a quiet stability that feels both necessary and real. With moments that are gut wrenching and tender, this novel beautifully captures the difficulty of loving someone who isn’t ready to be loved and the power of simply being there.
