Valid but seems to struggle for content

It’s a great book, and I agree with it extensively. It does seem, however, that some of the acronyms are there as filler and are very difficult to remember. I highly recommend this book as an introduction to mindfulness and the benefits of it, though.

I have been taking yoga for many years and recently started a class that my neighbor teaches on Meditation and Mindfulness according to this colleague/yoga teacher, is a “new trend”. Since I am someone who wants to stay healthy mentally and physically, I thought I would try this class and decided to start reading some books about it. I find this to be useful as I tend to have a mind that wonders all of the time and is everywhere. This can be a challenge as our “monkey minds” as Buddhists call them, jump from thought to thought like monkeys swinging from tree to tree. Meditation and mindfulness will help me focus more on the present, stop regretting the past and worrying about the future. This is a basic beginner book and I will now read more detailed books.

I enjoyed this book. Certainly I'll take away from it some interesting insights and suggestions for practicing mindfulness. My only sadness about the book is that I was really just getting into it when it stopped … abruptly. When I realized that the end had occurred, it was such a surprise that I had to do a double take and go back and forth a few times to make sure I hadn't actually skipped something. The book in its short entirety gave me enough information to certainly make me want to go and check out OTHER books on mindfulness, but it would have been nice to have finished this one, feeling like I'd read something a bit more complete perhaps. There are good suggestions, however, and it is interesting reading. It just isn't too long.

Mindfulness: Mindfulness for Beginners… [Kindle Unlimited] — Yesenia Chavan (9 chapters + conclusion) April 16-22, 2019

I read this a few month ago, so I needed to go back and refresh myself. Not sure if that's good or not, since I couldn't remember the gist of the non-fiction book!

Now I remember: The author explores four "key ingredients" for living a mindfulness lifestyle. I remember while reading this book I become confused because I had been reading a lot of minimalist books. But there is a connection between these two lifestyles. I believe you need both to maintain a healthy balance.

Not my favorite mindfulness book, but not bad either. Might be good for those just beginning to practice the concepts.

Two stars.

I enjoyed this quick read. The author explains how to approach centering ourselves on one task at a time, to focus on the present, avoid being judgmental, and to get rid of the distractions. Children and adults spend too much time trying to accomplish a multitude of tasks badly, rather than completing one well. I liked the comparison to mindlessness, which is its exact opposite.

I would have liked to see more focus on how to practice mindfulness. The author spends lots of time on definitions, rather than learning how to practice mindfulness. This book does provide the basics and is a good introduction to a subject about which I would like to read in more depth.

Good, Simple Information

I enjoyed the simplicity of this book. It expressed mindfulness in terms that simple understanding allows you to grasp. It gives you background and true meaning of what a person needs to do. Wonderful read.

A colleague/yoga teacher told me about a "new trend" she was looking at called mindfulness. As someone who often feels the need for more time to have a healthier lifestyle both mentally and physically, and most definitely having a 'monkey mind', I thought this was something I would look into to help me focus more on the present and to stop regretting the past and worrying about the future. I found this book a little too basic (and where the spelling and punctuation has had a dubious amount of checking). However it did contain some helpful hints about following a more peaceful way of life and it is something I will read about more.
