She trespassed into my den — bleeding, hunted, marked as property. She thought I’d kill her.
I kept her, instead.
She flinches when I’m kind. Freezes when I get close. Sleeps like she’s waiting to be dragged back in chains. But I see the fire she hides. The hunger.
The way she softens when she thinks I’m not watching.
She says this is temporary. That she’ll leave when the snow melts. She’s wrong. This isn’t a shelter.
It’s a claiming.
She’s mine.
A home for my heart…
…and a hearth for my eggs.
Read on monster obsession, nesting, survivor heroine, forced proximity, and a naga who wraps, watches, and never lets go. HEA guaranteed.
Anne Hale writes paranormal romance about dragons. All of her stories include smoldering, hot, dragons that claim their fated mates and protect them from a world that doesn’t understand shifters. Anne’s alpha male heroes protect their mates and provide for them during the day, and at night wrap their arms around them and make them forget the world. She lives in a world of magic and also writes urban fantasy. Anything to escape from her day to day life!
This wasn't really what I expected from the blurb. I figured it would be more of a wilderness / cave type Naga story with a wounded heroine and a possessive male lead who helps her heal.... what we get instead is a castle setting, a boring premise and lukewarm romance. The leads were honestly super forgettable and bland and the whole story has this meandering plot and slowness that made it really hard to finish.
Mira the human is basically just a servant at his castle and all she does is clean and dust and walk around. She's supposed to be hurt / haunted by her past be all she really does is have the occasional nightmare? it just didn't feel really impactful and she had the personality of dishwater.
Then we have Vahziryn... who was super boring and annoying to boot. he's supposed to be this huge, feared warlord but he spends most of his time skulking around and pushing the heroine away while worrying about the naga elites.... who he is supposed to not care about since he's banished or something??
These two had NO chemistry IMO and I really didn't get why they even liked each other and then BOOM she's sleeping with him and they're together? like what? girl you were just slaving away sweeping his floors and cleaning windows, you've had like 3 stilted conversations with him and that's it?? how are we supposed to like these two, let alone want them as a couple? eh.
I don’t know if it was just me, but there was a lot of repetition. Almost as if the author was trying to add filler and draw out the story. About halfway through it went really quick and a lot of details were skipped. I’m completely confused on the sudden appearance of Tallie and how the main characters act like she’s been around since beginning, but there’s no mention of her.
The MMC was a coward. He kept throwing away the FMC. Literally sent her away multiple times and she kept coming back. He wouldn’t have taken her back the last time if she hadn’t had a secret of her own that forced his hand. There was no love from him for her. It grew tireless. Finally at the end she had to save them all and he just stood by and let her handle everything.
I finally got to the end of the book was my thought when I got to the end. This should have been a short story because there was to much filler. Characters were ok, but overall boring.
How did they come up with that book description from this book? It was a very bland read. I wasn’t invested in either one of the characters and it just stuck to a single setting of nothing going on.
She cleans. They talk.
She cleans. They talk.
She cleans. They talk.
I mean, they have sex, but where’s the action? A nature documentary is more engaging than this.
This is my very first experience with a Naga universe and I honestly enjoyed it! I do like reading paranormal romance so I felt like this is a world I could definitely find myself in again. My first experience with Anne Hale and Celeste King and I’m excited to see if they have more books!
Mira is a human who has been sold to Lord Vahziryn who has spent most of her life just surviving. Her family was killed a long time ago and she’s been alone on her own for a while. She feels like this place is somewhat different but wary of letting her guard down. She feels like her surviving depends on staying quiet and not rousing anyone’s temper. But she finds herself drawn to the warlord.
Vahziryn has been exiled from the High Nest and living in isolation at his castle for a while. It has changed him and made him realize being vulnerable and caring leads to betrayal and now he’s focused on surviving. But his life becomes unsettled once Mira arrives as he notices her more than anyone and seeks her out to observe. There’s something unnerving about her that fascinates him and her silence and initiative cause him to falter from his routine for the first time in years.
Vahziryn struggles with Mira because Naga are supposed to be superior to humans and hold cold disdain for them but behind closed doors some Naga has humans as concubines or pets. As he finds himself more and more fascinated with Mira and seeking her out, he struggles with his feelings for her. He also notices her watching him and it makes him question his feelings even more!
Circumstances push Mira and Vahziryn closer together and a line has been crossed that they can’t undo which causes them to explore their feelings. Vahziryn struggles with what he wants and what the norm for Naga ways are. He pushes Mira away and thinks he’s doing the right thing but he continues to allow other norms to rule his world. But then Mira discovers something that makes her world shatter and she needs to stand beside Vahziryn in order to survive. I love that Mira has a backbone and decides to take matters into her own hands and show the world there’s nothing wrong with her loving Vahziryn and having a future. I loved that she was the strong one and Vahziryn did stand beside her but she was the one who fought harder.
I did like Crick and Sahrine. They helped the story with the side characters and adding some comedic relief and showing loyalty to Vahziryn.
Overall for my first experience in the Naga world, I was extremely happy to come across this book and it opened up a new world to me. The book did lack somewhat in Vahziryn not coming off as a strong male lead all the time where he let others dictate his choices and some inconsistencies within the story made it harder to understand or possibly made me go back to make sure I didn’t miss something. But I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something new!
Wrapped Up, Marked Mine—And I Loved Every Sinful Second Let me just say—I came for the monster romance chaos, and I stayed for the possessive naga who knew how to wrap a girl up (literally) and claim her soul while she’s still trying to pretend it’s just “temporary.” Spoiler alert: it’s not. Craving His Venom is exactly what I needed—a dark, steamy, emotionally rich ride that blends monster obsession with tenderness in a way that hit me square in the soft spots I didn’t even know I had. She stumbles into his den, hunted and marked like she’s someone’s damn property—and instead of ending her, this beautiful, coiled beast of a male keeps her. Protects her. Builds her a nest and guards her like she’s the most precious thing in the whole frozen world. And y’all, I melted right along with her. I mean, let’s talk about the nesting. The curling around her. The venom kisses. The quiet, slow-burning obsession that doesn’t feel creepy—it feels like home. He isn’t just feral and dominant (though yes, thank you, Celeste & Anne)—he’s patient. He watches her without demanding. Waits without pushing. He’s fire in a cold world, and she can’t stop reaching for it. This book delivers everything: • Survivor heroine? ✔️ • Naga who wraps you up and never lets go? ✔️✔️ • Forced proximity in a snowy den full of tension and tenderness? Ohhh yes. • HEA that feels earned? You better believe it. If you’re into soft touches layered over primal instincts, emotional healing with your claws out, and a monster who wants to fill your nest and your heart, Craving His Venom will wrap around you like a warm coil and never let go. I didn’t just read this—I devoured it. And now I want more naga, more snowed-in monster love, and more heroines who learn how to burn bright again after being broken. Celeste King & Anne Hale, you beautifully unhinged goddesses, please never stop.
Best I can describe this book is a contemporary Naga read. There’s a lot of political drama. Drama in the mansion when their relationship starts getting out. And I say contemporary because it was boring lol. Don’t pay attention to the cover. It’s not THOSE kind of Naga reads. (Although he does have two schlongs) (that are under utilized) the blurb for this book is sooooo off base. Just straight up criminal how not like the book it is. My notes are below. 👇🏼
But yeah overall it was fine. Bit boring. He is a perfect gentlemen and she’s meek and sweet. It takes them almost half the book to kiss. And then they’re banging. Just ruined it for me. Could have had that tension. But nooooooo
She trespassed into my den — bleeding, hunted, marked as property. She thought I’d kill her. (It’s not a den It is a manor/mansion that he’s the owner of, she’s not bleeding or hunted. She’s a human maid/gardener)
I kept her, instead. (Well yeah, you paid for the human maid so you get to keep her)
She flinches when I’m kind. (She didn’t) Freezes when I get close.
(She never said it was temporary, she wants to stay and you think about sending her away, also…. Snow? Really? The manor is in a tropical jungle)
She’s mine.
A home for my heart…
…and a hearth for my eggs.
(Eggs? 😂 he gets her pregnant like a human would be pregnant. There’s no snake eggs)

Overall, this book was pretty good. Much better than i was expecting, for sure. However, there were a few things that really annoyed me, which is why i didn't rate this higher.
The first issue I have, by far, is the description given for this book. It is 100% not even close to the plot of this book. Someone must have copied the wrong synopsis or something.
She wasn't trespassing, it wasn't temporary, there was no snow in the jungle, and what eggs?
How many times are you going to tell us about Crick's scales indicating his half-naga heritage? We got it the first time or two. You didn't need to tell us several more times.
And if naga bloodlines are so sacred, how has Crick managed to do so well? There are so manyhalf-bloods, yet they are so big about the purity of the bloodlines?
Repeated sentences and scenes.
I came across one sentence that was repeated immediately. I get it, accidents happen. But then we see whole scenes get re-done. Right after taking the venom, there is a whole scene with the council. Then, a new chaoter, and we another scene with the council. It was different, not a repeat, but ultimately the same thing happens twice. Same issue after the wedding, too. Just needless repetition. I get it, you couldnt decide which version to use in the book. That doesn't mean use both.
I will give this 3 stars, given how rough it was because of the above issues (and the fact that it wasn't the book i thought i was going to read). That and there was little chemistry that i could feel between them.

I had a real hard time getting into this book and making a connection with the main characters. I just did not find the plot, with these characters, to be very believable and that is hard to say when the story falls into the fantasy category.
The MMC was weak. I found his fear of how gossip would destroy his already destroyed standing in society bewildering. He was banished into the jungle of seclusion for saving a human. I didn't understand why they would bother with him now. Not having read any other of the books about the nagas, it was hard to understand the backstory of the culture from what little the authors presented, so the MMC came of as a very weak individual who has been stripped of all his power and would bend with whichever way new power is exerted.
The FMC seemed to start out as a timid, mild mouse of a character but this shroud never really fit the character as her action were always too forward to be categorized as "timid". She quickly dropped that shroud and seduced her Naga lord into giving it all up for love or so she thought.
Fear held him back, but love pushed her forward. This book was definitely different in that it was the female that took the lead in the relationship when it was all falling apart, which was a nice change. It wasn't my favorite, but it was a change.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Multiple 1st pov, unknown fantasy country, or if it was mentioned, I forgot. HEA, maybe 3 peppers of spice, but other than due to the obvious physical differences, very normal. I was disappointed and frustrated, because despite the appearance that all happened within a reasonably short time, there were indicators that much more time and possibly events passed. It was frustrating to read about the ruins they moved into, when it was the same place he lived in before with no sign of it being a ruin. Also, if there was a difference between half-blood and halfbreed, it needed to be explained. And we did not need a large number of repeats of the exact same describing characteristics of the exact same characters. Also, the human’s body must have been very strange, or the naga was much stranger than described, else I cannot see how numerous interactions could possibly take place. Lastly, most of the book felt like a never ending introspection, and that is not what I was hoping for or expecting.
Wow a simply fantastic read that I guarantee you will read in one sitting Anne Hale and Celeste King have written another wonderful collaboration that I guarantee will hold you completely captivated between the pages as you are taken away on a simply fantastic paranormal story about dragons. She has escaped and injured she had crawled into his den and he had taken her as his own and she had been marked as his property; she had thought that he would kill her but he had already decided that she was his and that she had already taken his heart. Her body would become a hearth for his eggs abnd she would bear his young and he would protect her with his life and he already knew that she had feelings for him and over time this would strengthen. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
This naga romance story set in the Protheka universe was an enjoyable story by Anne Hale and Celeste King to read. Our characters are Lord Vahziryn, a Naga warlord and Mira our human slave who is brought into his domain within the heart of the Naga territory. While walking the halls of the estates she meets Sahrine who gives her a cleaning job, and while cleaning she meets Vahziryn. What occurs was an engaging well written story that kept me entertained. The characters are likable, their chemistry sizzled, and the romance titillated while the drama unfolded in this copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.
-This story takes place in a dark world where humans are considered lesser than Naga. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Vahziryn, a dominant warrior-Naga, claims Mira in a forbidden joining. Oppression, danger, and primal passion drive this intense paranormal tale.
A seductive, high-stakes romance where love defies brutal laws. The story draws the reader in but is confusing in his darkness and complexity.
"A new, unspoken truth settles in my bones: no matter how much I deny it, the equilibrium I once guarded so fiercely has begun to slip, and I am no longer certain I want to reclaim it.'
I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I was so excited for a new naga romance. The story was interesting from the start. I loved both Mira and Vahziryn. Something keeping drawing their attention to each other, yet there's a quiet stillness there in that connection. I couldn't wait to see how things would go. 5 stars.
I always enjoy this pairing of authors and this appealled with the male, a naga. Vahziryn. Mira has escaped one life and finds herself now in the lair of a Naga. He's detemined to keep her and she's anting to be free. A great read and different from the usual racec of characters. Just as yummy too. :D I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So a fb ad led me to getting this book but the description was not how the storyline actually went. Started off strong and its a nice slow burn. However it felt like there were parts edited out or missing which made the writing feel unclear at parts. Its another book where she fights way harder for him then he does her. Its a good quick read though.
the amount of repeating with certain phrases was maddening, it cold have literally been cut in half with the absence on unnecessary repeating... the story had promise though...
