I'm so disappointed in this book. I really loved book 1 and I think this series has so much potential, but this book just fell flat for me. The plot seemed to follow a lot of the same patterns as book one, with the motivations/choices of the mmcs not really making sense. Mainly, I was really disappointed in the main character. I was hoping this book would reveal a new, stronger Luella, but instead it seemed to double down on making her seem meek and childish. I love a soft fmc, but the nativity and lack of emotion was too much for me. The mmcs have hurt her repeatedly and she seems barely fazed? I wanted some anger and push back followed by some groveling, but alas.

All that to say I will be back for book 3, but I'm hoping that (based on her thoughts and actions in the last chapter) she comes back with more of a spine in the next book.

*3 stars because it is still an enjoyable read with a good concept, even though this book did not meet my expectations

ARC REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I genuinely have no words. Micah Nicole ate up again as we all knew she would!!

When I tell you I could not put this book down, once I received copy I went straight to it and binged until the sun was up!

The angst is written in such a way where you feel it in the pit of your stomach.

Sweet Luella, the depth of her character is beautiful. I feel as though writing soft/sweet FMC’s is not always captured correctly, but Micah has a beautiful way to do so with Luella where it’s actually enjoyable! We see her dwell into her powers, and who she is and boy was my jaw dropped!

Getting to see Luella’s relationship with the guys bloom, the angst, the slow burn is everything. When Graves calls her sweetheart 😖 Az is always sweet to her too and I love his devotion to her. Tharen and Vale are still unhinged and insane to say the least, I definitely started to like their characters towards the end of this book and loving how they’re slowly cracking at the sweetness of Luella. Can never forget about Bastian either 🥹 his care, but playfulness with Luella is genuinely the best!!

I fear after that cliffhanger i’m going to need the next book like yesterday though 😫 I cannot wait!

I’m BEYOND happy to have been able to get an arc for this!!! And now, let’s dig in, because I got some STUFF TO SAY.

YEAH. I read it. I loved it. I dreamed about it. Now I want to reread it. Is it too soon??

This is one of the best books I’ve read all year!!! It far surpassed book one, which is crazy, because I loved book one so much. Everything in this book was so dreamy and it almost had a surreal quality to it, which really tracks with the vibes since dreams were a big plot point. Some questions were answered, but even more are brought up. My brain hurts!

What’s up with Caliban, and who is Enora? I’m so intrigued. The SPICE??? It wasn’t true spice, not yet, but just enough to make me so hot 🥵 and even more excited for everything to come.

The whole thing with the winter solstice was so intriguing and it had a little dub con vibes, which I love. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if a book makes me feel a little ill, that means a love it. This one def did. Just the perfect amount of dubiousness.

I’m so curious about Graves, and I have my theories about what’s up with him hehe…

The ending was absolutely phenomenal. Like a movie in my mind. I saw everything clearly. It took a turn I def wasn’t expecting with the wings, and I’m so curious about how it’ll go in the next book!!!

I could probably ramble about this book before and there’s so much more I probably wanted to say and won’t remember until later, but truly truly read it! I am floored over how amazing it is. I hope the author gets everything she deserves from writing this world, because it is phenomenal and so well-written.

Luella is a character I really admire a lot for her soft tenacity. I can’t wait to see her grow!

I’m so obsessed with this series. Beautifully written, why choose with multiple POVs. The slowest of slow burns. Luella is so sweet and kind I can’t wait to experience more of her growth in book three when we get it.

Something else I LOVE is that all 5 MMCs are all unique, not just in appearance but Micah does a beautiful job at making each of their POVs unique to the character. Sometimes with so many males the internal dialogue starts to become the same, BUT not with this series.

Did I love this… yes, but did I think this book was very repetitive and a little too long… also yes.

I found this to be such a filler book. You are telling me that all the men kinda realized that they cared about her at the end of book 1, yet they all continued to lie to her; she literally continued to think the worst to them because they hadn’t really changed. Also, the training of her powers just made me kinda mad. She is supposed to be the most powerful person, yet they were reluctant to train her!? How does that add up with the prophecy! They also didn’t really make any progress with her learning to control her magic, despite this book being over 600 pages long.

I will say though that her and Az saying “I love you” to each other was so sweet. I also weirdly loved Tharen in this book. Learning more about him through his pov, the fact that he loves to save broken things, was weirdly heartwarming. I will say that I totally guessed that Graves was a fallen angel, but I still have sooo many questions about him specially. Why does he hide what he is with the amulet? How did he become one to the fallen!? Also, Luella sprouting wings and finding out her mom, the Queen of Luna, was actually an angel amongst her the first half fae half angel was sooo cool, but why doesn’t she heal better if she is only half fae? Finally, why is she dreaming of Caliban’s past? Is he secretly also supposed to be with her, but the dark god, the Tenebrae had wicked his body? I am very intrigued and excited for the next book to say the least, especially with Vale’s dragon imprinting in her!

1 ⭐️ for the guys, I really enjoyed their individuality. The author did a good job of separating them and their personalities. Even if some of them are mega douches lol

1 ⭐️ for the plot. I really like the idea of the storyline in general. It is interesting and built on a pretty solid foundation.

.5 ⭐️ for the effort.

This book really didn’t do it for me (and I rated book 1 a 5 ⭐️) the last 15% of the book was really interesting and I could barely put it down. The first 85% should have been cut in half. It was very repetitive and unreasonably long. In no universe should this book be 666 pages.

*If you are contemplating reading this book in hopes that the FMC comes out of her shell and blossoms with some sort of character development? Be ready for disappointment. She remains the meek, stuttering, whispering little thing throughout the entire 666 pages. It was almost unbearable. I think the only minor character development that was had was Tharen. And that was in the last 10% of the book.

I am super disappointed. The first book was an easy 5-star read for me, but this sequel feels drastically different. There’s no real tension or excitement to keep me hooked.

What frustrated me the most is that the men are again choosing to lie to the FMC, even after they’ve already shattered her trust in the past. They know better, yet every single one of them repeats the same mistake. What’s the point of five men if not even one of them will do the right thing? It’s maddening and does not make any common sense.

As for the FMC, she desperately needed growth. After everything she endured in the first book (plus the ending), there should have been some sort of meaningful development. Instead, she somehow regresses; She is exactly the same, if not worse. The plot does not have enough strength to carry the weight of such stagnant, repetitive character dialogue and actions.

I won’t be reading the next installment. PLEASE, I beg you; Read the first book, love it, and then just pretend that’s where the story ends.

Listen, Linda! Listen! The way this book makes me feel like I was in an 80s dark romantic movie. The author's writing is incredible, particularly in its descriptive nature. YES, it was really, really long with nothing happening; however, the angst and slow burn of all the unworthy relationships kept me from throwing this book out the damn window. Also, yes, the female character is weak as hell, but I understand that she is just a captured princess. It's so hard not to compare this book to others where female rage is a central theme. I believe that's where this book shines, particularly in how different and submissive the FMC is. Also, what tripped me up these MEN had over 20 years to come to terms with their destiny! She only had a few seconds, and they want her to give in to them when they are not willing to is very, very frustrating. Overall, this book was terrific, and I absolutely can not wait for the next book.

I went into A Dance of Water with low expectations after slogging through Book 1 and somehow, this managed to be worse. I didn’t think I could dislike the FMC more, but she reached new levels of unbearable. The MMCs? Still a lineup of emotionally stunted glitter-covered cardboard cutouts. Speaking of glitter, WHY is there still so much of it? Are we in a fantasy novel or a rave?

The plot? Nonexistent until the final chapter...again. It’s like the story is playing a long con, pretending something’s happening while actually doing nothing at all. The book drags like it’s being paid by the page, stretching a weak storyline into what feels like an endurance test. Honestly, if someone told me this was AI-generated filler with a word count quota, I wouldn’t be shocked.

Easily one of the most painfully drawn-out books I’ve read in 2025. Proceed with caution - or better yet, don’t.

Loved it!! I’ve see some people saying they thought the book was repetitive or dragged out but I completely disagree! I loved how much this book delves into each character and it really has made me more attached to all of them. Some may not like the whole “innocent/ naive fmc” trope but the way the author is showing Lu’s transformation is so captivating! The men have all grown on me so much, the first book left me wondering why they would treat her the way they did but this book really explored the why. Also Az is such a sweetheart, I love him! Cant wait for the next book!!

the sweetest of slow burns 🥵 the angst! i felt for poor Luella, but she slowly but surely started to come in to herself. i loved the chemistry between all of the men. Even though Tharen and Vale continuously pissed me off with their words and actions, but they’re perfect for her. There were a number of surprises that caught me off guard but added to the story and made it even more intriguing. I cannot WAIT to see what happens next 🥹 Lu needs her HEA 🫶🏼

This was so slow. I forced myself to finish it. FMC is a whiny, petulant crybaby who is so self absorbed that she can’t even think straight. I was hoping that the plot would somehow get some answers in this one. I was wrong. This installment was teenage angst, make out sessions, and a lot of the male main chapters apologizing behind FMC’s back. This also needed an editor.

I loved the first book, but was slightly let down by the second. Luella was amazing per usual, but the whole plot focused on romance and not the possibility of the world ending for the first half of the book. It irks me how easily Luella forgave her captors, especially Tharen after he drowned her.

This book, unfortunately, disappointed me—especially considering how much I loved the first one. I usually enjoy a good slow burn, but here it felt like everything was slowwwww, and we barely scratched the surface of the actual plot. It took me a long time to get through, and while the female lead is clearly being set up to become a powerful character, she hasn’t lived up to that yet.

I’ll still be picking up book three, but I can’t wait until the final 100 pages for any real development to happen again. Going forward, I need to see major growth not only from the female lead herself but also in her relationships with each of the male leads. And most importantly—the plot needs to thicken, and soon.
