But Tyler and Chloe can’t fight the sizzling-hot attraction sparking between them, and soon, they’re protecting Chloe’s ward and each other against a killer who wants to silence them all. In order to make it out alive, they’ll need to stand together and put everything on the line.

Including their hearts.

I’m a huge Chloe fan! Like, for real. She’s smart and stubborn and slick and bakes for comfort? I’m in. Once she and Tyler stop dancing around each other, they’re quick to communicate and find that they’re on the same page. A page that neither of them expected to want in their books, mind you, but sometimes the best things are a surprise in the beginning. Her advocacy for a scared teen who needs someone who’s been there, his willingness to listen and treat that same kid as the smart, aware person they are, and everyone’s determination to keep that kid safe make for a bit of a rollercoaster ride that I’m so glad I took.

The best part? Ryan. He again proves to be exactly who I’d hope and expect. He’s funny and only wonders why it took so long, but it’s sort of the perfect reaction to events around them. I have to adore that because he knows his sister and knows his friend and who they are at their cores.

Even the saving is fantastic because when the danger comes calling, these two prove they’re an unbeatable team. I love the “strong enough to save us both and smart enough to partner up” vibes and can’t wait for more of this series.

When it feels Good. Safe. Right.

I loved, loved Tyler and Chloe’s story - three dimensional characters, heartwarming romance, and a bad, bad guy. Once again this author has worked her story weaving magic to create a beautiful romantic suspense tale. The story was so perfectly balanced between the MCs POVs plus the bad guy POV and just when the suspense got kind of intense there was a swoony/spicy break to help move the romance along and then right back to the suspense. All swirled together to make the book unputdownable. Tyler is a Rescue Squad firefighter and a confirmed bachelor for reasons. Chloe is a pastry sous chef and the sister of Tyler‘s best friend. They shared one steamy knock your socks off kiss several months ago and since then have been low key avoiding each other. Double pining and not thinking about that kiss anyone? But now, as the maid of honor and best man in Addison and Ryan’s wedding, they need to work as partners to plan the bachelor/bachelorette party - while avoiding all the feelings. I loved how Chloe - previous victim of a serial stalker/killer - got to be the one helping Tyler emotionally. Women who are strong despite their painful pasts are the best characters. And men who finally embrace vulnerability are right up there with them. The icing on the cake for this story was getting to see all the characters from other series but no worries if you have not read those books, you will not be lost in this story. Now that we’ve had the brother’s best friend, friends to lovers tropes, I’m excited to read which firefighter falls next. 4.5 stars.

Prepare to be scorched by this firefighter! Tyler is the king of casual hookups but has had a thing for his friend and co-worker's sister Chloe, especially after they shared a smoking hot kiss a while back. He has always put Chloe in the hands off category due to his friendship with her big brother. However all of his plans go up in smoke when he is paired with Chloe to help with the wedding of her brother & his fiance, as Chloe is maid of honor and Ty is best man. I loved their banter, the sass Chloe gave him and that she refused to back down. I loved the suspense aspect too and seeing beloved characters from Remington Memorial, Station 17 plus the Intelligence Unit. Before you start reading you may want to have some ice water & a fan nearby.

HOLY WOW.

Kimberly Kincaid does it again in SPARK, the second book in her thrilling Remington Rescue Squad series. Firefighter Tyler Gates knows he’s not cut out for complications. His past has made him more than wary of setting someone else up for strings and expectations and inescapable pain so he simply avoids them entirely. And that has kept him in good stead for years. Except that Chloe Ferguson, his best friend’s younger sister, kind of snuck in under the radar…

Kimberly Kincaid brings readers back to Remington for another incredibly satisfying visit with the very capable first responders and the people who love and support them. Ms Kincaid finds the perfect balance of warm community and anxiety inducing tension as Chloe and Tyler find a way to bridge the differences that keep them apart, with each of them finding ways to give each other the space and strength to face their fears and deal with them in real and meaningful ways. And of course, they find a way to keep those in their charge safe and loved. ALLLLLLL kinds of win! Don't miss this one, and I'm already excited for the next in the series.

I absolutely loved Spark by Kimberly Kincaid! I was hooked from the first few pages, I loved every moment on every page of Spark, and it was impossible to put it down. Spark is the second book in her Remington Rescue Squad series. I really enjoy how the book is told from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. I also enjoy that Kimberly has included characters from her other series in the new Remington Rescue Squad series. It was nice catching up with the other characters that I have grown attached to. It is like a family reunion. Once again Kimberly Kincaid has shown that she is an incredible storyteller who delivers sizzling romances, and she continues to be one of my favorite authors. Spark is the heartwarming and heartbreaking tale of Tyler Gates, a rescue squad firefighter and his best friend, Ryan Dempsey’s sister, Chloe Ferguson, pastry sous chef at Sweetie Pies. Chloe and Tyler share a kiss on St. Patrick’s Day and have avoided each other ever since, both of them continue to think about the kiss ever since. Esme Crawford, a thirteen-year-old witnessed a murder in an abandoned warehouse. Esme is in the foster system and Chloe becomes her advocate regarding the murder case. Esme collaborates with artist and with the sketch the Intelligence Unit is able to determine the identity of the murderer as Leo Navarro. A criminal that they have tried numerous times to prosecute, but he lawyer always finds a loophole. DNA was discovered on the clothing of Sal Brinkman, the victim and it is determined that the DNA belonged to Leo. Shortly after, the lab with the DNA kit was stored was set on fire. Between working on the Navarro case and helping with their maid of honor and best man duties in the wedding of Addison Hale and Ryan Dempsey things begin to change between them. I love everything they do together as the help plan the events surrounding the wedding. I love that Tyler loves Chloes red velvet cookies, and she uses that to her advantage, and how she stress bakes for her friends and family. I love the secrets that they share with one another; especially Tyler’s relationship with his father and how that has impacted the decisions he has made in his life. Chloe and Tyler to admit their real feeling for one another, which leads Tyler to disclose to Ryan that he is interested in Chloe. One of my favorite parts of the story are Addison and Ryan’s reactions to this news. Surprise plot twists help the Intelligence Unit solve the case, but also puts Chloe’s and Tyler’s lives in danger. I love Chloe and Tyler’s relationship with Esme, and how she changes throughout the story. Spark is filled with the plot twists that I have come to love and expect in Kimberly Kincaid's stories. I love ending of Chloe and Tyler’s love story, and how they both change because of their love for one another. I love that it was the perfect ending to their love story. love the cast of characters in Spark; I enjoyed catching up with all the other characters in Kimberly Kincaid’s series and the interactions among them; it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. The epilogue reveals the identity of the former member of the rescue squad who will be next. It was a wonderful story, and I highly recommend it. Received an advanced copy from the author.

Tyler and Chloe burned up the pages with romance and suspense in Spark by Kimberly Kincaid, book two in the Remington Rescue Squad series, a spinoff series, that is a fast pace, opposites attract, story that takes the reader on an adrenaline filled roller coaster ride; that grabbed me from page one and kept me hostage until I reached the end.

Firefighter Tyler Gates doesn’t believe he will ever find his perfect match; not sure he would know what that looks like after witnessing his parents’ disaster of a marriage. That past had him building walls around his heart, avoiding weddings of his friends or spending as little time at them as he can. Tyler has been friends with his best friend’s younger sister, but has been avoiding her after Chloe kissed him; a kiss that set off feelings he wanted to avoid.

Chloe Ferguson, a former foster child adopted by the Dempsey family as a teen, is the youngest. After surviving an insane stalker, earning a black belt to defend herself, baker extraordinaire, and creator of a support group for foster teens, Chloe has crushed on Tyler for a while.

Chloe and Tyler are soon paired up, tasked with helping firefighter Ryan and detective Addison with their upcoming wedding; she as maid of honor and he as best man. When Esme, a teenager in the foster system, witnesses a gruesome murder Addison asks Chloe to help getting her to open up and cooperate. Things really heat up between them as the sparks sizzle, the chemistry sets off alarms, and the banter, as they work together to ensure Esme’s safety and follow the clues from a fire at a RPD storage building.

Ms. Kincaid is an expert at writing heart-pounding suspense and steamy romance stories; keeping this reader mesmerized with the need to see how Ryan, Chloe and the rest of the Intelligence Unit and Station Seventeen would stop this villain. This story had everything, action, suspense, danger, strong friendships, twists & turns, a wedding, and hot, steamy sparks. I enjoyed the cameos from Remington's other residents and catching up with their lives. I can’t wait for the next story in this new series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Everything that Chloe has been through has only made her stronger and more resilient and she refuses to let it define her. She has had feelings for Tyler, her brother’s best friend, for a while however she believes that nothing can come of it. Her life is about to become a lot more complicated as not only are they working together to help with her brother’s wedding but when she finds herself in danger he is the one determined to protect her.

Tyler is a firefighter who has seen the destructive outcome when love doesn’t end well, and it is something he doesn’t want to experience. He may be attracted to Chloe but knowing she would want something beyond the casual and that she is his best friend’s sister becomes a line he isn’t willing to cross. That becomes more difficult when they find themselves spending time together especially when he knows he will do anything to keep her safe.

The story finds a great balance between romance and intrigue as the chemistry escalates between them as well as the danger which forces Chloe and Tyler to finally face the feelings they have for each other.

Spark is a captivating story that engages the senses and immerses readers in a heartwarming, slow-burn romance that develops beautifully over time. The characters are well-rounded, relatable, and multi-dimensional. Alongside the realistic elements, there is an intriguing layer of suspense that keeps you invested, with two bad guys who add just the right amount of tension.

Furthermore, the relationship between Tyler and Chloe was flawlessly balanced. With Tyler's emotional vulnerabilities complementing Chloe's unyielding strength. Creating a dynamic that I found realistic and refreshing to read.

And with the inclusion of a few familiar faces, Spark is a delightful page-turner that I would happily recommend to anyone who enjoys a good story that expertly combines romance and suspense.

My thanks to Greys Promotions for my early copy. All thoughts expressed are my own. 😊

This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Tyler and Choe’s story.
Tyler is Chloe’s older brothers’ best friend, and as they are now going to be best man / maid of honor, the must work together to plan a bachelor / bachelorette party. When Chloe is swept into a case of arson, extortion, and murder, as she is protecting a 13-year-old girl who is in the foster system, and witnessed a brutal crime. Tyler’s protective instincts have him determined to keep her safe and protected.
This is a well written easy to read story, with found family, friendships, emotions, danger, suspense, intrigue, action, survival, determination, close proximity, friends / lovers, romance, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Tyler and Chloe😍

So nice being back in the Remington world again with some of my favourite characters. Spark is the long awaited next book in the Rescue Squad series.

Tyler is known for his great firefighter qualities but is renowned for being permanently single. Chloe is still recouping mentally from dealing with her stalker, but has made great strides in overcoming this. When a kiss between her and Tyler essentially cause them to not talk to each other for months, it appears nothing a party planning event involving them both couldn’t solve😉

A very interesting story and definitely want to read Dallas’s story next🙌 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review🥰

I just couldn't get in to this. There was lots of writing and not a lot happening. There were paragraphs and paragraphs of filler and very little dialogue. I really struggled to get in to this at all and it was a force to read.

I seem to be one of the few so maybe it's a writing style or vibe that just didn't connect with me personally.

I don't think I'll race to read more but that doesn't mean I won't if I come across it in the future.

I was very fortunate to receive this as an Arc and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Kimberly Kincaid’s Spark (Remington Rescue Squad #2) focuses on rescue squad firefighter Tyler Gates and pastry sous chef Chloe Ferguson facing danger and ruin when she helps a 13-year-old murder witness threatened by a dangerous killer and is drawn into a case of arson, extortion, and murder. Chloe asks for Tyler’s help. Despite how much he’s always wanted her, Tyler relies on all of his survival instincts to protect and keep her safe–even if it means keeping her at arm’s length. As Chloe and Tyler spend time together to protect each other and Esme, the sparks between them ignite, and they’re unable to fight their scorching hot attraction and deepening connection. To survive, they’ll put everything on the line, including their hearts.

Spark is my first read by Kincaid, and it was entertaining. Kincaid’s storytelling and world-building are down-to-earth, vivid, descriptive, and detailed. I love the criminal and forensic investigation scenes with the characters trying to solve the murders and arson cases. Her action, fight, firefighting, and suspense scenes are well-constructed and keep you on the edge of your scenes. These are among my favorite scenes, especially the firefighting scenes. Exciting, suspenseful, and vibrant, they make you feel present with the characters. However, there are just not enough of them throughout the novel. It took almost half the novel before these amazingly written scenes kicked in and grabbed hold of my imagination and attention.

Kincaid’s writing shines in these and the emotional, romantic, and love scenes, which also were not present until after the half point. I liked Tyler and Chloe, and the secondary characters. I loved their snarky banter, emotional, humorous, and sexy interactions, including those in the novel’s first half. Kincaid wonderfully lays a foundation to show Chloe and Tyler’s long friendship and how crucial it is to both. She builds the chemistry, attraction, ease/comfort in their relationship through their interactions before they become intimate. You believe they have been friends since high school.

Calm, composed, straightlaced, and tough enough to walk through fire, Tyler’s only weakness is Chloe, his best friend’s little sister. Tyler learned early on that feelings always grow out of control. Believing that life is safer without feelings, Tyler tries to avoid and control them. Practical, valuing order, Tyler’s survived by compartmentalizing his emotions. Tyler is a cynic about romantic love who avoids romance and is all about no strings, one-time only hookups with people he doesn’t know.

Chloe grew up in the foster system and can identify with Esme, a thirteen-year-old girl in the system who witnesses a brutal crime and is caught in the crosshairs of a dangerous murder. Knowing she must do whatever she can to keep her safe, she asks Tyler for help, though she has a thing for him and it will be difficult to be around him. Chloe is recovering from the trauma of being stalked. But she feels safe with Tyler. Still, she has his back just as has hers.

Funny, emotional, steamy, suspenseful friends-to-lovers romance with mystery/thriller elements. I liked the characters, their interactions, the world-building, firefighting, crime investigation, action, and suspense scenes.

Unfortunately, it took a while before the suspense and action got going and drew me into the story. But when the pacing picks up, Spark is an entertaining read. I could’ve done without so much time spent on the villain’s POV. Time could’ve been spent delving into the romance, suspense, etc., sooner in the novel.

Spark is a sweet, steamy, emotional mystery/thriller with suspense, action, and firefighting recommended for forced proximity, friends-to-lovers, brother’s best friend, wedding planning, forbidden romance, firefighter, pastry sous chef, romantic suspense fans.

3.5 stars

Better together?

Could be amazing? But of so complicated. She’s his best friend’s sister. Chloe has the biggest heart, bakes to her stressed hearts content and will risk herself for a child who is in a dangerous predicament to know fault of her own. Tyler is rock solid and always willing to put others first even when he knows he could have a HEA he isn’t sure that’s wise.

The authors writing is flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story with so mush intensity didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors blurb: Rescue squad firefighter Tyler Gates is calm even in the most perilous situations. He knows all too well that emotions only add fuel to the fire when things go sideways and when emotions are involved, everything goes sideways. Life’s just safer without feelings, period.

But when his best friend’s little sister is swept up in a case of arson, extortion, and murder on his watch? Tyler’s going to have to rely on every one of his survival instincts to protect her.

Including keeping her at arm’s length, no matter how badly he’s always wanted her.

When a thirteen-year-old girl in the system witnesses a brutal crime, then finds herself in the crosshairs of the dangerous criminal who committed it, Chloe knows she’ll need to do everything she can to keep her safe.

Even if that means setting her emotions aside to ask straight-laced, sexy Tyler for his help.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in multiple POV this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know you’re 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

This is 4 stories in 1 lots of people and story lines to keep track of.

Tyler & Chloe are friends they've known each other since high school. She wanted it to go further, and kissed Tyler. Tyler is worried that she is his best friends little sister. Tyler does like her, but, he knows he shouldn't be doing anything with her, as she is Ryan's little sister. Chloe had wanted Tyler, but, now a few months after they kiss they just try to ignore each other, and move on with the family outings and activities. But, working next to each other daily with the wedding prep, they always try to find ways to 'touch' each other usually by accident.

Chloe is a pastry chef. She loves cooking/baking. When she gets stressed she bakes, and bakes, and bakes. Its a good thing her best friend, works in the police station and her brother and Tyler work in the fire station. She's always dropping off goodies for both houses. Chloe had a stalker who tried to kill her a few years ago. Now, her whole family protects her and bubble wraps her. She is always treated with kid gloves. She knows she can do more than they are letting her. With Addison & Ryan's wedding approaching, she is the maid of honor and has a lot of duties to perform/fulfill. Tyler her brother's best man and best friend, has been drafted to help Chloe with everything wedding related so she doesn't stress so much about it.

Ryan and Addison are getting married in 4 weeks, but, Chloe takes on most of the duties for the wedding to prove she can do things, and she can be trusted. Ryan and Addison are working and working it seems. How are they approving everything wedding related Chloe sends to them?

Esme is a 13 yr old foster kid, who witnessed a crime. Addison, brought in Chloe to talk with Esme, to see if she can open the girl up to tell them about the crime she witnessed. Chloe has a foster home / group home back ground also, and Addison thinks Chloe and Esme will be able to bond over being foster kids, even though Chloe is about 10-12 yrs older than Esme.

When Esme helps identify the man who committed the crime, it seems the whole police precinct wanted to get their hands on Leo Navarro. But the Intelligence Unit had first dibs at him. Leo and Simon don't seem to know that Esme was in the building. They don't know she was a witness to the crime. All Chloe can do is think about what will happen once they find out that Esme got a good look at Leo. Will they come after Esme? Will Chloe be able to protect her? Or will Esme just shut down again and not help the police with anything?

For me there was just a lot going on in this book.

Thank you Grey's Promotions for the Free ARC Book copy. I am freely leaving an honest book review.

ARC - 4 🌟 2 🌶️

🔥 Best man x maid of honor
🧯 Protective firefighter mmc
🔥 Best friend's little sister
🧯 Found family
🔥 Suspense

Okay bestie, listen. I’m not a big suspense lover but this book gave me everything I wanted in a romantic suspense: heat, heart, danger, and a firefighter who doesn’t know what to do with all his feelings.

So we’ve got Tyler Gates, firefighter and total protector type. He’s all “feelings are a distraction” until Chloe Ferguson, aka his best friend’s little sister, ends up in danger, and suddenly he’s catching feelings he swore he’d never have. Like, sir… you literally run into burning buildings, but a woman with a big heart and a teenage girl to protect is what finally melts you? Yeah, okay, I’m obsessed.

And Chloe? Ugh, I love her. She’s had such a rough past, grew up in foster care, and now she’s doing everything she can to protect this teen who accidentally witnessed something bad. She’s fierce, loyal, and doesn’t wait around to be saved, she’s out here fighting for her little family. But the moment Tyler shows up? You just know these two are about to light each other up in every possible way.

Their chemistry is e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. It’s the perfect mix of “I shouldn’t want you” and “I can’t stop thinking about you.” The tension? Delicious. Every time they’re together, it’s like fire meets gasoline. And I swear, Tyler trying to act all stoic while clearly falling head over heels? Iconic.

The danger and suspense parts had me actually holding my breath, like, one second we’re swooning, the next we’re dodging bullets and running from bad guys. This book nails that balance between romance and action so it never feels forced. By the end, I was just grinning like an idiot because these two earned their happy ending. Chloe finally gets the safety and love she’s always deserved, and Tyler finally learns that feelings don’t make you weak, they make you human.

Basically: protective firefighter + fierce heroine + danger + slow-burn tension = obsessed. If you want something that’s equal parts adrenaline and heart, Spark is definitely your next read.

Thank you Grey’s Promo and Kimberly for this arc opportunity!

Kimberley Kincaid is a new author to me but boy will I be an avid fan from now on. I'm definitely going to be ordering her books!!

Kimberley Kincaid's book is different from others that I've read because I got an understanding from all perspectives. I adored Tyler and Chloe's story but I think that extra depth was added with the perspectives of the intelligence unit and also Simon's too.

This is a story full of a maelstrom of emotions that will knock you on your backside and leave you breathless. The chemistry between Tyler and Chloe was electrifying. There was enough of a spark to light up the night sky.

I absolutely love when an author includes family members and a true sense of community. I think it adds something special to the story.

Tyler is a fantastic character. A definite alpha male and protector to his core. My heart ached for him as he lived day to day with the pain of his past shaping his life years on. I just wanted to hug him and tell him how worthy he is of love. How he deserves to be seen for the beautiful soul that he is.

I love seeing the camaraderie Tyler has with his co-workers and brother firefighters. The bond that Ryan and Tyler have is true and lasting and that was so heart warming to watch.

Chloe is a beautiful soul. She's a strong and independent woman and despite everything she's been subjected to, I felt so proud of her taking life by the horns and charging ahead as best as she could. She's an awe inspiring character.

The relationship she has with her brother and family was heart warming and I love the bond between herself and Addison. It must be so special to have such a wonderful friend.

This is an addictive and compelling read. I absolutely loved each and every word. I wish it could have gone on and on. Thankyou Kimberley Kincaid for this beautiful read that will stay with me for the foreseeable future.

A wonderful and addictive read you won't want to miss it!! This story deserves so many stars to fully portray just how wonderful it truly is.

Oh this was excellent even if i admit that i was a bit taken aback by the time skip at first....2years seemed long though with Chloe trauma it does make sense but somehow i was expecting something to take place between both stories.
So if you read this series in order it's much better, even if it could work as a stand alone, as you can grasp the character's personnality better.

Chloe has been attracted to Tyler, her brother 's teammate and best friend, for months...and he is not reacting like she hoped so she think he is not attracted to her....and things are a bit akward between them even though Tyler will help her without hesitation no matter what. However after her traumatism Chloe is fed up with being overprotected, she wants to show that she is strong. Managing her brother wedding seems a good idea to change her mind, until she is asked to help with the case of a minor already in the system who witnessed a murder.

Tyler has a phobia :love relationship....from his past he is thinking love is only a weakness and refuse to go into any relationship .....he is seeing all his teammates getting married, having babies and he is not interested.....until Chloe but Chloe is his best friend little sister...so that's a no no and for months he keeps thinking about their kiss...
When he is aked to be Ryan Bestman he can't refuse even if it means working with Chloe so while he is trying to restrain himself he see another side of her and is determined to help her...

I really loved the investigation, the story was really well constructed with good twists and intelligent villain ( and stupid one too) lot of action and tension building.... really the title is perfect not only for Chloe and Tyler story but also for part of the investigation.

𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤 is the second book in the Remington Rescue Squad series by Kimberly Kincaid, featuring a riveting romantic suspense story for Tyler and Chloe with many layers and plot twists!! Settle in for another consummate bachelor about to be knocked on his a$$ by his one and only game changer, book friends! The thing is that Tyler has deep-seated emotional reasons for not committing that shocked even me. Having read The Rogue recently, I already had Chloe on a pedestal as an inspirational character who survived a traumatic past and became an amazing human in spite of it! I loved seeing her allow herself to explore chemistry and passion with Tyler, and the added bonus was watching that evolve into more. Addison and Ryan were back to bring levity and support to their best friends, as well as dive head first into the action as danger pops off in spectacular fashion! Our MCs may be a firefighter and a pastry chef, but they find themselves trying to protect a sweet foster child who witnessed a murder, leading to investigative twists, suspense, and so much more! I couldn’t put the book down! It really had it all… great characters with a found family vibe, witty banter, emotional moments, a slow burn romance with the right amount of spice, and an intriguing suspense plot. I’ll admit I was bummed when I got to the end of my copy and the epilogue was missing, even though I knew that ahead of time. I was just in such a reading groove and I hit that wall, like, “What? No!”😅 I’m looking forward to getting that on Release Day, for sure! I can’t wait to see what’s next for this world!

I received an advanced review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Spark, book two in the Remington Rescue Squad series, is a slow-burn romance. Firefighter Tyler Gates sticks to casual hookups but has had a thing for his friend’s younger sister Chloe Ferguson for a while, especially after they shared a burning hot kiss a while back. However, he has always put Chloe in the forbidden “best friends’ sister” category.

Tyler and Chloe both have pasts which have affected them in different ways. For Tyler, it’s not believing he will ever find true love, his parents disastrous marriage pushes him away from getting close to anyone. Chloe, a former foster child was adopted by Ryan’s (Tyler’s best friend) family as a teenager. Chloe has been through so much, including a mad stalker, but she’s a survivor, learnt to defend herself, became the pastry sous chef at Sweetie Pies as well as setting up a support group for foster teens.

Chloe and Tyler are asked to be maid of honour and best man at Ryan and Addison (see book 1 of the series) upcoming wedding. Being pushed together ignites the simmering chemistry between them and sparks between them start to fly. When Chloe is asked to help with Esme, a teenager in the foster system, who witnesses a gruesome murder, Tyler steps in to help her. Now, they must work together to keep Esme safe and find the murderer.

Chloe and Tyler’s journey is slow burn, yet steamy romance with a lot of action, suspense and danger which will keep you turning pages as they try to find the murderer. You also get other characters from earlier series popping in which was great to catch up with. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for this book. This is my very first book by Kimberly Kincaid and it will absolutely not be my last. I’m already scoping out which is going to be up next to read.

Spark is book #2 in the Remington Rescue Squad series. The book centers around Tyler, a firefighter and Chloe, who is a pastry chef. Tyler is Chloe’s brother’s best friend and newly appointed best man. Her brother, Ryan, is marrying her best friend, Addison and Chloe is the newly appointed maid of honor. The two of them need to work together to plan the bachelor/bachelorette party. That would be fine, but during a St Patrick’s Day celebration, they kissed. The problem is that Tyler is a one and done kind of guy and they have been avoiding each other ever since. Now they have to work together to plan the party.

In the meantime, Addison, a detective with the Intelligence division of the Remington Police Department has a new case. The case involves a teen who witnesses a murder. The teen, Esme, is in the foster system and has been shuffled around a lot. Addison requests help from her best friend, Chloe, since she also was in the system, to help. Without giving too much away, there’s a fire and more suspense and twists and turns to bring this happily ever after book to an end.

I really liked how Kimberly Kincaid developed the main characters so that we could better understand where they were coming from. Lots of good suspense that really helped with the story as well.

If you love firefighter romantic suspense, this is the book for you.

He kissed his best friend's little sister and he liked it... too much.

While Tyler should stay away from his best friend's little sister (especially because he doesn't believe in HEAs), after a scorching kiss, he finds he can't get her out of his head. Chloe is having the same issues. Cue awkward interactions, especially at family meals where family doesn't just mean blood relatives.

Now paired together as best man/maid of honor, the two have to work together to plan the bachelor/bachelorette party. Cue more awkward interactions filled with longing. When Chloe gets swept up into a murder investigation as she strives to protect the witness (a 13-year-old girl), Tyler finds himself unable to stay away as his protective instincts take over.

While the story, the spice, the romance, and the character depths are all excellent, I find some of the premise hard to believe. The fact that the cops pull Chloe (a pastry chef) into an active investigation is tough to swallow for me. That would be a big no-no in police procedure. Then when Tyler, although a firefighter, also gets an upfront view of the investigation, it just got more unrealistic for me.

This is the first book I've read of Kimberly Kincaid's, and although there are lots of characters from previous books/series, it did not take away from my enjoyment of this book, which can be read as a standalone. There was enough background of the tertiary characters that served to enhance Tyler and Chloe's story, not detract.

This is my first Kimberly Kincaid book and I truly enjoyed it! Chloe Ferguson, a pastry chef was adopted by the Dempsey family. Tyler Gates is a fireman and BF of Ryan Dempsey, Chloe's brother. Ryan always considered Chloe "off limits" for 2 reasons; he ONLY has one-night stands, no girlfriends and Chloe is Ryan's sister. Now weeks after a drunken kiss between Chloe and Tyler they are paired together for Ryan and Addison ( his fiancee and Chloe's BFF) wedding as bridesmaid and best man. As the plans heat up so does the romance between the two. Add in a mystery of a murder, a teenage witness,Esme who lives in foster care as Chloe had in her youth and a suspicious fire at the crime lab, you have a five alarm fire of suspense, romance, family love and friendships to keep the reader intrigued. I was glad Ms. Kincaid provided backstories of the characters from other books so this novel could be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed the suspense because it did not cause too much angst and just enough mystery. The title Spark definitely fits the book, the first kiss between Chloe and Tyler was the SPARK which led to full flames of desire and love between them! I will definitely go back and read book 1 in the series and other books by Kimberly Kincaid.
I received an ARC for my honest opinion and review of this book.

It's always fun to be back in the fictional town of Remington and Spark brought the heat for Tyler and Chloe! Chloe Ferguson and Tyler Gates have known each other for years since her older brother is not only Tyler's squadmate but his best friend as well. Several months ago, Chloe made a move and kissed Tyler at a party and he hasn't been able to stop thinking about her or that moment ever since. Chloe knows that Tyler doesn't "do" commitments and that's okay because she needs him for something else but now things are awkward between them. The worst part is that Chloe's brother Ryan is getting married and she and Tyler are the maid of honor and best man. There's a lot of party planning that needs to be done so they both need to get over it and move forward. Adding to this chaos, there's been a murder in Remington and a young girl is the witness. Chloe signs up to be her advocate and all this intersects with a fire at the evidence storage facility. None other than Tyler gets drawn into the mix and now they're really going to be spending lots of time together! Spark was a fun story. It's a slow burn contemporary romance with a touch of suspense. It was told from multiple POV's and stands alone in the series. You will see multiple appearances from previous characters in the Remington world. Lots of laughs, a touch of angst and a bit of heat. Enjoy!

As predicted, Spark is now my third read by Kimberly Kincaid… and once again, she’s out here ruining my productivity in the best possible way. I swear this woman writes like she’s personally trying to keep me up at night. No easing in. No gentle build-up. Just straight into the fire (literally, because Tyler’s a firefighter).

Tyler and Chloe. THAT’S the post. She’s whip-smart and warm, he’s the emotionally unavailable king of “no strings,” and together they’re pure slow-burn chaos. One kiss turns everything upside down, a foster teen gets caught in the storm, and suddenly every page is either setting my heart on fire or punching it square in the feels. Their banter? Flawless. Their chemistry? Illegal in several countries. Their dynamic? Addicting.

The suspense is fast and gritty, threading through the story like a lit fuse you can’t stop watching burn down. There are twists, dangerous moments, and the kind of emotional gut-punches that sneak up on you and leave you blinking at the page like—wait, did that just happen? And then there are the cameos. Ryan and Addison showing up felt like seeing your best friends walk into the room.

Bottom line: Spark isn’t just a follow-up—it’s a full-on knockout. If The Rogue hooked me, Spark sealed the deal. This series isn’t just living rent-free in my head; it’s rearranging the furniture and painting the walls.

A slow burn, suspenseful romance between the FMC’s brother’s best friend.

Chloe and Tyler have known each other for about a decade and have been really good friends. Tyler frequently attended the Dempsey Sunday diners for years, before Chloe got brave and decided to kiss him on St. Patrick’s Day at the local bar. She was hoping to convince Tyler to have a ONS after two years of celibacy.

Tyler’s MO is one and done, and when his best friend’s youngest sister unexpectedly kisses him, he freaks out. That kiss left a lingering curiosity though and a few months later Tyler is partnered with Chloe to help with planning a bachelor/bachelorette party and last minute wedding details for her brother and his fiancée.

While trying to keep things from feeling awkward as both of them are secretly attracted to the other they also negotiate the danger and uncertainty of protecting a young teen girl in foster care who witnessed a gruesome murder.

The last 1/3 of the book is when the romance and spice heat up, the murder/arson investigation gets intense and many characters in the Remington world appear.

Chloe is a tough young woman who has overcome her past and Tyler is slowly willing to risk his heart.

I received a free ARC from the author and Grey’s PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

“He’s tough enough to walk through fire. His only weakness? His best friend’s little sister.”
As an ARC reader, I enjoyed diving into Spark, the romantic suspense from Kimberly Kincaid. The setup immediately drew me in. A firefighter hero, a best friend’s little sister, and a case involving arson, extortion, and murder. The premise promised high-stakes danger and sizzling tension, and for the most part, it delivered.
Tyler is a solid hero. The kind who keeps his emotions locked down until everything comes crashing in. Chloe, on the other hand, has a big heart and a deep sense of responsibility, especially toward the foster child caught in the middle of the chaos. Their chemistry feels natural, and I appreciated how their past connection added emotional weight to their growing bond.
That said, the pacing occasionally felt uneven. Some of the action-heavy scenes flew by too quickly, while a few emotional beats lingered a little too long. The romance is sweet with just enough heat, but I found myself wishing for a bit more spark (no pun intended) in their interactions outside of the danger.
Still, Kincaid’s writing is smooth, the found-family dynamics shine, and the suspense keeps you turning pages. Spark is a good fit for readers who enjoy firefighter heroes, protective instincts, and slow-burn chemistry wrapped in danger.

Kimberly Kincade knows how to weave a tale that expertly incorporates a slow burn romance, a murder investigation, arson, great suspense, exciting and dangerous firefighting scenes and family ties that reach far beyond a blood bond. Tyler Gates and Chloe Ferguson have been doing a slow dance around each other ever since a fareful kiss on St. Patrick's Day. He keeps his emotions on a tight lockdown except when it comes to Chloe. She's slowly worming her way beneath his defenses. Chloe has baggage, lots of it, but with strong support from family friends and the medical community she's in charge of her life and emotions. These two are paired up to handle best man and maid of honor duties for their best friends so they're thrown together--a lot. Couple that with Chloe's advocacy on behalf of a young girl who witnessed a crime and Tyler's insistence on being by her side every step of the way and their relationship is inevitable. They fall deeper by the day. Spark is my first Kimberly Kincade book and I readily admit that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are genuine, extremely likeable, multi-faceted and suit the narrative perfectly. I intend to read more of Ms. Kincade's catalog.

This is the second book in the Remington Rescue Squad but could easily be read as a stand alone novel. Sit down and get ready for an adventure full of suspense, wit, unexpected feelings, healing and being the voice for someone who needs some back up.

Chloe is no stranger to danger, as she herself has been through having a stalker not long ago. She is working hard on herself, trying to learn to trust people again and doing her part to help kids in the foster system. Not everyone is as lucky as her to find a big family to bring her in the folds. When her detective bestie calls on her for some help, she steps up willingly.

Tyler is a damn good firefighter and loves his job. Working along side his best friend on the field, pushing each other to do the best they can. Not really a relationship kinda guy thanks to his father and all the shit they went through. But when a kiss with his best friends little sister start his mind swirling, he realizes it might be time for some re-evaluation.

Grab your copy and cozy in to watch as Chloe and Tyler work together to help advocate for Esme and help to find the bad guy while keeping her safe, watch to see if forbidden relationship goes from a one time to so much more.
