She’s here to marry him. He just doesn’t know it yet.

He has no idea he's my fiancé.

I've packed up my belongings and traveled halfway across the country to marry him, but he thinks he's just picking me up from the airport.

Problem is, I'm undeniably drawn to him. And I'm pretty sure he feels the same.

By the end of the night, maybe I can convince him that I'm the woman for him.

Mountain Man's Mail-Order Surprise is an OTT age-gap romance featuring an alpha hero and V-card heroine. It's a forced proximity ex-military, lumberjack romance with lots of steam that's designed to be read in only 1 hour. If you like short, steamy instalove novellas, you’ll love the entire Seduction Summit Trails series!

Grumpy mountain man? Check!
FMC determined to find herself away from her family? Check!
Mail order bride the groom didn’t order? Check

This was funny because Riley really is a grump of a mountain man who didn’t want anyone when all of a sudden Bridget is dumped in his truck, but of course that doesn’t stop the insta-love and steamy romance!

I got an ARC from BookSprout, but this is perfect for anyone wanting a quick and steamy read!

Reilly and Bridget . . .

Bridget signed up to be a mail order bride and left everything behind to start her new life. She is waiting at the Wildwood Valley Inn. But her fiance Reilly Clark is already 11 minutes late, not a good way to start. Their entire exchange had been by text, so she really didn’t know him. Bobbi, the desk clerk, had reassured her that he would be there… but now she is not around either and the parking lot is empty. A big black truck raced into the parking lot and the driver pulled up to ask her if she was “Bridget”, then told her to get in the truck! Only 5’4” and in a pencil skirt, how was she supposed to climb up into that monster? But she managed to jump up rather than look so helpless. And seeing her fiance for the first time was worth the struggle. He was gorgeous! Trying to tease him, she asked if he always opened conversations with ‘Bridget?’ or is that just reserved for the women you’re marrying? His answer that he “wasn’t marrying anyone” shook her up! He also denied corresponding with her! Was he teasing? He said Bobbi asked him to show a visitor around town and he was doing this as a favor! He drove to the steakhouse, parked, and again did not make a move to open her door and help her down. At the table, she told him she had sold her car to pay for the plane ticket; gave up her apartment; quit her job; and told her family I was marrying Reilly Clark in Wildwood Valley. And whoever was writing to her was very sweet. His response was a bit snarky asking if he was supposed to marry a stranger because Bobbi played matchmaker. But she calmly said no, she just wanted him to realize she was a person and not just an inconvenience dropped in his truck. He didn’t apologize, but she knew he realized she was right. Bobbi was the one who lied to both of them. And now she had nowhere to go, so he offered his guest room until she figured out what to do.

As they talked, she surprised him. She told him her mother had arranged her life attending balls, charity lunches, and would no doubt pick out a wealthy bore for her to marry. But she wanted a man who chops his own firewood, builds things, fixes his own truck, and lives a “real” life. And she could be free to start her own business if that’s what she wanted to do. Her mother had never let her even choose her own date, so she has remained a virgin. (Bet that got his attention!) She wanted her life back, and she wanted him in it. Would he consider her offer? Or would she be on her own as soon as she found a job? And when would he realize that he was actually in love with her?

Building a real life, not chasing a perfect life

Mountain Man's Mail Order Surprise is the second book in the Wildwood Valley Brides series. This story is adjacent to the first book, Mountain Man's Mail Order Mix-Up, as it tells Bridget and Reilly's story. Bridget flew across the country after selling her car, giving up her apartment, and telling her family she was going to marry someone in Wildwood Valley. She had been texting with Reilly for the last while and was ready to marry him on Sunday, even though they had never talked or met before. When she arrives in town she is checked in at the Inn by Bobbi and told that Reilly would pick her up at seven that evening for their first date. Reilly is an ex-military man who moved to Wildwood to work on a logging crew after being discharged. He likes his life just as it is but is about to discover it could be something very different. Reilly shows up late for the date and is less than chivalrous to Bridget. But she goes with it only to quickly discover that he has no intention to marry her, or anyone for that matter. Reilly thinks Bridget is a bit crazy when she says she is ready to get married on Sunday, after all he was only doing a favor for Bobbi by showing a visitor around the area. Now things are about to get complicated but also very clear by later that night. It seems that Bobbi may have worked a bit of magic for these two, even if she was being underhanded about the whole thing.
This is another fun and entertaining romance. It is a quick read, has nice characters, a sweet HEA, an interesting premise and a bit of lite drama.

**Surprise!**

"Mountain Man’s Mail Order Surprise" is the second book in the Wildwood Valley series, and it starts just like the first one—without disappointment. Bridget has moved across the country to be a mail-order bride, but there’s a catch: neither she nor Reilly, the man she is supposed to marry, knows that he hasn’t signed up to be her groom.

When Bobby at the inn asks Reilly to pick up Bridget from the airport and bring her to the inn, Reilly thinks he is just doing a favor. However, when he returns later that evening to take Bridget out for dinner, he flatly tells her that he does not intend to marry her. Bridget, determined not to return to her old life, resolves to figure something else out since Reilly is unwilling to marry her.

With no pressure to get married, Bridget and Reilly begin to know each other better, and Reilly finds himself increasingly attracted to Bridget. Will they give in to their growing feelings for each other, or will Bridget ultimately decide to go back home?

This story introduces another charming couple in a short, instalove narrative that is fast-paced and easy to read in one sitting. It’s steamy and features no cheating. I look forward to the arrival of the next bride soon!

Thawing the Heart of the Grump -
The last thing Bridget expected when she packed up her life and moved to another town, was to find out everything wasn’t as it seemed. Reilly was shocked to discover the town’s matchmaker’s request for him to help Bridget feel welcome to the town, had been a ruse for the plan she had set in motion for both of them. Even though Reilly wasn’t happy about the situation, he agreed to help Bridget get back on her feet, but she had other ideas in mind for the start of her new.

Reilly couldn’t hold back after Bridget made her offer to him, which led to one heck of a mind blowing night together and then they both realised they just couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Change the dynamics of their relationship was initially meant to be on a temporary basis, but continuously setting the sheets on fire made them realise their relationship was meant to be for keeps. This story was heartwarming, sweet and had just the right amount of spice. This was a brilliant story, that will draw you in from the first page and keep you interested all the way through to the end.

He has no plans to marry at all, especially not some wacko who claims he offered her marriage.

Bridget is awaiting the arrival of her groom-to-be at the Wildwood Valley Inn. He's late. Bobbi, the woman in charge at the inn and the woman who had set up the meeting between her and Reilly, seems to be missing. Has she been jilted before even meeting him?

Reilly works on a logging crew. He was a bit put out when Bobbi asked him to take the niece of one of her friends out to dinner. He was ready to go ballistic when he heard she had come there to marry him.

Despite him not being enough of a gentleman to assist her effort to seat herself in his impossibly high pickup truck, there was a connection. He can't believe she'd come this far to marry a stranger.

She just really wants to get away from her mother. That woman has run roughshod over her for her entire life. Hopefully Reilly can help her break this cycle. She can't believe he had no idea of who she is. Who's been sending her all of those texts?

By the end of the evening, he does grudgingly offer her a place to stay, at least for one night. Maybe she can convince him to extend the invitation...

She came for a promise. He never made it.

Bridget (h) arrives in Wildwood Valley expecting a wedding, not a stranger with a truck and a scowl. She gave up everything for a man she only knew through texts. But Reilly (H) isn't who she thought he was... or at least that's what he says.

Reilly is a mountain man with no patience for drama and even less for matchmaking. Letting Bridget stay was supposed to be temporary. But sharing his space means sharing more than he planned. One night turns into something that can’t be undone.

As trust builds and past hurts are laid bare, their connection shifts from reluctant roommates to something real. It started with confusion. Love isn’t always convenient, but it can be exactly what you need.

Bridget finds her strength in starting over. Reilly finds his heart in letting someone in. Together, they learn that what looks like a mistake might be the beginning of everything.

A steamy, age gap, instalove, grumpy sunshine, mail order bride, mountain man, curvy girl, small town romance exploring love, mistaken identity, starting over, vulnerability, found family, personal growth, trust, and commitment. It's about second chances, quiet strength, and building something real in the middle of nowhere.

"Mountain Man's Mail Order Surprise" by the incredible Lilah Hart has quickly become my new favorite one-hour reading fix!

It was such a delightful treat from start to finish.

Just imagine this: leaving everything you know for someone you hope to build a life with, only to discover they think you’re just a local needing a little tour around town—what an unexpected twist!

Despite that surprise at the beginning, our two main characters fall head over heels in a wonderfully passionate and adventurous way that dives right into the heart of this charming short story.

I absolutely loved all the surprises, spice, and sweetness that flowed through this deliciously naughty little tale. It definitely left me wanting more, so you can bet I’ll be keeping an eye out for more short stories from the talented Lilah Hart.

My honest conclusion?

I wholeheartedly recommend this short to anyone looking for a satisfying and interesting read, complete with a beautifully happy ending that feels genuine, real, and sweetly intimate between two people who were simply meant to be, even if one of them didn’t realize it from the start.

Happy reading, everyone!.

Bridget comes to Wildwood Valley because she wants a fresh start in life - with her fiance Reilly. Except within minutes of meeting they realise that it was Bobbi from the inn who set them up, rather than Reilly messaging Bridget all this while on the app. Reilly lets her stay in his house and tells him she wants to lose her V-card to him, but he is already all in. Why is Bobbi setting up the guys and what's going to happen next to the next few couples who will undoubtedly have stories coming up in the set?

This was a short, sweet and steamy story that is a fun continuation of the Mail Order Bride Wildwood Valley series. As always the characters have such great chemistry, and the stories are all well-written. I love to read these books as a set because they are somewhat interlinked (some sets have books written about events taking place almost concurrently!) and it's a nice continuation. And I love that they're short so you can read them all at one go or have a break in your day for a little distraction. And I am always excited to start a new book from the author!.

Bridget has crossed state lines, packed up her entire life, and arrived in a small town with one goal: to marry Reilly—the man she believes is waiting for her. The only problem? Reilly has no idea who she is. A matchmaking scheme has gone wildly off course, and neither of them is thrilled about being the punchline to someone else’s romantic joke.

Bridget is stunned, embarrassed… and completely unprepared to turn back. She’s sold her car, quit her job, and given up her apartment. With nowhere else to go, she makes it clear: she’s staying—at least until she figures out her next step. Reilly, frustrated but not heartless, reluctantly agrees to help her find her footing, even as the situation pulls him further into her orbit.

What begins with awkward tension and sharp banter soon softens into an unexpected connection. Reilly can’t help but admire Bridget’s determination and vulnerability, while Bridget discovers that beneath Reilly’s gruff exterior lies a man worth knowing—and maybe worth loving.

A Fiancé, a Flannel, and a Whole Lot of Fire

This book was pure instalove fun from takeoff to touchdown!

Bridget shows up ready to marry a man who doesn’t even know she’s his bride-to-be—and what follows is a delightful mix of awkward charm, blazing chemistry, and heart-melting sweetness. Reilly, the gruff, rugged ex-military mountain man, thinks he’s just doing a favor by picking up a stranger from the airport. Instead, he finds himself face-to-face with a woman who might just be his future.

What I loved:

✈️ Mail-order twist with a modern edge

🌲 Grumpy-meets-sunshine age-gap romance

🔥 Steamy moments with serious heart

🪓 Forced proximity with a flannel-wearing lumberjack hero

💕 HEA in under an hour—perfect for a quick escape

Bridget’s mix of boldness and vulnerability made her easy to root for, and Reilly’s slow crumble from guarded to completely gone for her. Swoon. This one’s short, spicy, and full of feels—just how I like my mountain man romances!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sweet, Sassy, and Full of Surprises!

This second book in the Wildwood Valley Brides series totally delivered! Bridget is bold, determined, and impossible not to love. The setup—showing up to marry a man who doesn’t even realize he’s her fiancé—was both hilarious and heartwarming.

Reilly is rugged, a little clueless, and exactly the kind of cinnamon roll mountain man you root for. Their chemistry is instant but not rushed, and watching their connection unfold over one surprising, emotional day kept me hooked from start to finish.

This story is packed with charm, humor, and just the right amount of spice. If you love small-town romance with quirky setups, stubborn heroines, and swoon-worthy heroes, this book is a must-read!

Lilah Hart has a gift for quick reads that feel complete and satisfying—and this one left me smiling.

From the texts that Bridget has been exchanging with Reilly she believes that they were about to marry and start a future together only to arrive and find out that he wasn’t the one responsible. Now she doesn’t know what to do when the man who was supposed to be her groom doesn’t want what she wants.

Reilly had no interest in marrying anyone let alone a woman he doesn’t know. He isn’t sure why anyone would relocate for a man they have never felt but he can’t help feeling bad for her. He never expected that offering her a place to stay would have him realizing that they want the same thing after all.

Even though Bridget and Reilly may not have gotten off to the best start due to the matchmaking of an outside source when they spend time together they realize that this is the best thing to happen to either one of them.

Bridget has come to town under the premise of marrying a man she's been communicating with and starting a new chapter in life. She was well past surprised when her groom Reilly has never heard of her. The meddling, good mean woman at the hotel has set him up.

He has no idea and doesn't want to deal with it. Bridget refuses to give up on this life she is just finally getting a fresh start. I love how Bridget gives Reilly the gears of not acknowledging her a person and not a problem. Even grumpy Reilly doesn't want to see Bridget hurt and if she plans to stay in town he can help.

The connection comes fast, strong, and a little surprise for both of them. Reilly gets to see what letting someone in is like, and Bridget gets a life she's wanted so bad even if it doesn't happen as they plan. This story has awesome wit and sarcasm, and a fast white hot love.

This short, steamy story continues the Mail Order Bride Wildwood Valley series, with great character chemistry and well-written, interlinked plots. The concise format makes them perfect for quick reads or a full series binge, and the author’s work consistently excites fans. Bridget moves to Wildwood Valley for a fresh start with her fiancé, Reilly, but discovers Bobbi from the inn, not Reilly, was behind their online chats. Reilly offers Bridget a place to stay, and she expresses her desire to lose her virginity to him, while he’s already fully committed. Questions linger about why Bobbi is matchmaking and what lies ahead for the next couples in the series.

Too short once again. lol. Bridget is a Mail Order Bride waiting for her groom Reilly. Fearing that she is about to be jilted, that is when he shows up to give her a ride because Bobbi asked it of him. Bobbi is the one that has been texting and emailing the bride to get them there for the men in the area. So it all gets dropped on Reilly when he picked Bridget up. So both of them are upset, but they talk and things get a bit better after they do that a lot. They are attracted to each other. Things then progress fast because they are attracted to each other and it gets romantic and steamy and fun. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Very Good Story!

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Bridget came to Wildwood Valley to get married to her man who she never met and the farce of the woman who did the communicating keeps going. Reilly the non suspecting groom came to pick Bridget up and take her to dinner. Apparently Bobbi in the Inn told him she was the daughter of her friend and to show her around. So they went to dinner and it was awkward to say the least. She told him exactly what she was told and if he didn’t want to be with her that was fine. He invited her to stay in his spare bedroom until she could figure things out. She said yes and they stopped by the Inn and got her things. When they got back to Reilly’s cabin they… 😊😊😊😊😊💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I absolutely loved Bridget and Riley's story, it seems they where both mislead by Bobbi( She appeared in book one and I really want to know more about her) This is a heartfelt story with just the right amount of spicy spicy. I love the way the author writes her characters, it is amazing to me how I get the feels in such a quick read and so far I have been loving the Wildwood Valley Brides series. I'm ready to find out who is brought together in book three and if Bobbi will have a hand in it again. This book is perfect for anyone needing a quick distraction from the craziness of daily life! Loved it and recommend it with more than five stars!!

Bridget was the second mail order bride to arrive in Wildwood Valley on the presumption of marrying Reilly. He thought he was doing Bobbi, the Inn manager, a favor. When he found out what Bobbi did, he was adamant that he wasn’t going to get marry or play house. Bridget didn’t have a place to stay so Reilly offered his place. By the end of the night, Bridget made a decision that Reilly didn’t refuse. Could the attraction between the two lead them to a HEA? This was an entertaining story with a well-written plot and hot chemistry between the characters. Highly recommend.

The characters in this quick, mountain recluse, mail-order romance were fun and relateable. I quickly liked Reilly, as he was a good guy who was put in a tight spot. Bridget was harder to warm to, but I understood her position all the same.
The story seemed to start off quite compelling and with great potential with an unexpected/forced meeting. The trajectory the story took from there was simply too quick and unrealistic for ne, even for a quicky. (Let her stay until tomorrow, fun between the sheets, BOOM - they're in love immediately.) I really wanted SOMETHING more than an immediate proclamation. Sorry folks.

Bridget had thought that she would meet her groom for a first date on Friday and then be married on Sunday only to learn the prospective husband,Reilly, knew nothing about what was happening. Donna, inn receptionist, had been matchmaking the men to find wives. Bridget had wanted to get away from her controlling mother and get a say in her life. What does Reilly learn about Bridget during her talking about leaving home for good? What's his response when she decides that she is ready for more? Is marriage next?.

Book 2 is when Riley meets Bridget and finds out that Bobbi had set him up to be married. He was so unprepared for what was happening. However, Bobbi may have had a mix up and scheduled to girls for Riley on accident. Mackenzie had found West and Bridget was meant for Riley. Can’t wait for book 3 and what victim will be hit by Bobbi’s match making enthusiasm. This has been a great series. Strong characters, unexpected life changes and a good bunch of humor.

Mountain Man's Mail Order Surprise is book two of the Wildwood Valley Brides Series.

Bridget and Reilly have been pushed together under false pretenses. Even though Reilly never asked for a mail order bride, he does the good thing and gives her somewhere to stay while they figure out what to do about this situation.

This is a fast paced love story. These two fall hard and they fall fast. Sometimes all you need is a meddlesome townsperson looking out for the best of the town and seeing everyone with their own HEA.

“Mountain Man’s Mail Order Surprise” by Lilah Hart

-This story is a hilarious standalone even funnier if you read the previous book first. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.

Reilly doesn’t stand a chance against Bridget’s logic and looks.
They’ve been set up by a mischievous innkeeper, Bobbi.
Now it’s up to them to have things develop.
And boy do they…..

Short, sweet and spicy!

Bridget thought she had been chatting to the man she was going to marry but it turns out the matchmaker was a woman and that was who Bridget had been talking to online.

She uprooted her whole life and now everything is falling apart, what is she going to do!
