on the way to meet mom? more like ON MY WAY TO
BAWL MY EYES OUT!!!
the sheer volume of beauty so finely pressed into a webtoon only 31 episodes long is astounding. i still cannot process the sophistication within this work of magic, but unlike my other review, i have to do this justice.
from the series afterword, you can just see how sophisticated the author, GOMYANG, is. much like many other masterpieces from asian creators, it tackles many sensitive topics with grace. GOMYANG simultaneously speaks out against war while painting a beautiful world where our main character, mori, can finally thrive.
it is truly insane that the creator penned such a masterpiece while drawing art both ethereal and adorable. the storytelling never falls apart, and the art complements the writing to a degree of heartbreak. miria is drawn like a biblical angel, or the virgin mary, one of the most famous mothers in history.
the story represents a mother's love and determination, packing many sayings such as "it takes a village to raise a child," "the greatest warrior is a mother protecting her child," and "a mother is a role model like a bright star in the sky." the creator explains that mori was left as a "blank canvas" as to give as many readers possible a chance to relate to the love and affection mori receives. many names given in this story connect back to the word and concept of "family." (i'm not crying I'M NOT CRYING YOU ARE NOT ME okay yeah i'm sobbing. my heart is wrecked.)
another cool thing is just how well human relationships and behaviors, such as parenting, gender, even romantic love, was presented as a foreign thing to the (non-human) "mothers" of mori, yet they are willing to learn as to best raise mori. gender being an unfamiliar concept to these androgynous/nonbinary "parents," they all clamor for the role of "mother" because truly, any parent is incredible.
the lore behind these alien creatures is conveyed expertly. their confusion towards human behaviors feels very real, just like their aging, reproducing, and societal behaviors. the sheer creativity behind this masterpiece is something the likes of ai (ew) will never replace.
somehow, the story manages to paint a perspective of parents fighting for custody as well. the heartache of your beloved young child potentially wrested away from you. in the end, when mori is reunited with his mothers, the outpour of warm, happy love is so powerful even i could bask in it across the screen in a different universe.
i hope the physical book gets an english translation. i ought to gift this precious piece to my parents.

"Home is not a place, it's the people."
This is such a heartwarming and emotional little story that will surely tug at your heartstrings. No need for so much dialogue because the feelings of love and care are already perfectly conveyed through the characters' every action and amplified by the breathtaking art. The wholesomeness made my heart so full.
I would have loved a chapter or two more because the ending is a little rushed, but it's just my greediness to see more of little baby Mori and his found family.

∘ The brush of this artist must have been dipped in magic because every panel looks stunning. The character designs themselves are simple and classy, yet the framing and grandiose sceneries complete the bouquet. And the little hands, THE LITTLE HANDS! (இ﹏இ`｡)
∘ The main story and the behind the scene reasoning from author's notes felt to me just like Mori's drawing: a mother's warm and emotional embrace
∘ I also love the little to no dialogue that we get in many chapters - show-don't-tell worldbuilding panels are coming back in fashion and I could not be more excited for them.
∘ On a separate note, am I the only one who loves the latest comic/animated movie undertones of a future dystopian world, poorly populated, in which nature evolves, takes what's to take and thrives by itself, independently from humans?
Something about this piece of work really remined me of The Wild Robot. Not necessarily from the outlook presented about the natural evolution, but also from the trope of a curious wonderer that's found and raised by a passionate rebel + an overly caring figure and gets to choose an imperfect and wild life above anything else.
What a great first comic read of 2026. 1000% would recommend

I stumbled upon this story by accident when I was looking for something cute and cozy to read, and it ended up giving me so much more. It has all the warmth and charm I was hoping for, but there's also a surprising depth that stayed with me long after I finished. Mori completely has my heart, and if I ever find myself trapped in a stranger's magical pocket, I know exactly who to thank because now I know what to do. Such a delightful, heartfelt read. I'll definitely be coming back to this one again.

La calidad de los dibujos, el estilo del pincel, el mundo que se dibuja, es fantástico. Literal. Es fantasioso y hermoso! Es espectacular.
Adore al bebé, adore a sus mamás, me encanta que el mundo se doblegue ante el chibi, para darle un final feliz. Adoro cuando se cumple la frase: "pide, pide, pide. El destino se doblega ante un corazón obstinado".

Crazy that this is a debut work!! This volume has my heart. Here's how you write found family. Gomyang's notes at the end were lovely, so much info on the character design, the mythology, the worldbuilding ❤️
one of my fave things about this book is that there's no romance or sex, just lots of LOVE. I'd say it's one of my top picks for aroace enjoyment. No obvious ships, no monogamy, no couples. Amatonormativity, who? Readers who like stories that centre platonic love, pls do not miss this!

This was an emotional journey. It was happy and heartwarming one moment and the next it makes you tear up or full on bawl your eyes out. The way that family was depicted in this was beautiful. It shows how family comes in all different shapes and sizes how the role that you have in a family can overlap... And the artwork was stunning. It's available to read on Webtoons up to ep 26 (I think).

HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST THINGS IVE READ - the art was gorgeous and Mori’s journey had me laughing and even tearing up at some points. I’m happy I discovered this comic, it’s a truly a rare gem and such a meaningful story 🥹 ❤️
