Two years ago, Aaralyn ran for his life, leaving behind everything he'd ever known and risking brutal torture and execution if he was caught. Taking the first ship that would accept what little money he had, he fled Havarin on a fragile hope that where he landed would be better.
Now, settled in Tavamara, he lives a life he could only dream of as a private bookbinder for a highly respected noblewoman. He lives in the royal palace, he never has to worry about going hungry, can draw and read and simply exist as he wants. Even the few nobles who occasionally bother him are nothing compared to his tormentors back in Havarin.
Despite living the kind of life he once could only dream of, Aaralyn cannot help but pine for the that the beautiful, compelling, highly respected Crown Prince Bakhtiar might somehow notice an ugly, unremarkable Havarin runaway amidst a palace full of perfect beauties.
Megan is a long time resident of queer romance and keeps herself busy reading and writing it. She is often accused of fluff and nonsense. When she’s not involved in writing, she likes to cook, harass her wife and cats, or watch movies. She loves to hear from readers and can be found all over the internet.
It was a short, quite enjoyable story, the existence of which surprised me today - as the last time a week ago? Two, max?) I looked up the Tavamara series both on GR and in the kindle store, it didn't exist.
It could do without the constant injuries the characters (Aaralyn in this specific occasion, nut I'm talking in general) obtain in the course of these stories. The story always seems to be OH, a beating by angry unpleasant people, "it will never happen again", it does (surprise, surprise), "will you be mine so nobody else is allowed to touch you ever again?", a spot of murder (optional, or just discussed?), sex.
Good thing I'm already fond of the universe. I'd like a glimpse of Sahayl and company, if possible. Also a war with Havarin would be interesting.
This is a delightful sweet novella set in the world of Tales of Tavamara. In this story, Aaralyn is a runaway scribe, artist, and bookbinder who narrowly escaped a life of abuse and servitude in an evil harem in his homeland. Now living in Tavamara, he leads a much more settled and enjoyable life despite the inconvenience of a lost leg and still occasional abuses of the upper class. He pines for Crown Prince Bakhtiar and to be a part of his harem, but he knows it will always be a pipe dream. Never does he imagine to catch the prince's eye, but that is exactly what seems to be happening. I greatly enjoyed reading this story.
One of the series I most enjoy reading, and I’m always glad to see another entry. This one is no exception, although - like many of Megan’s books - I wouldn’t have minded a longer story lol. Not that this one feels abrupt or anything, I just like reading them.
A whimsical tale in a far away land where Aaralyn ended up after fleeing his hometown. He now lives comfortably in the care of a wealthy lady, scribing for her and drawing beautiful sketches, life is finally good, or is it! A gorgeous, touching little tale.
It ended too soon. I don't feel like the story was finished. I'm so happy where Aaralyn ended up though. He's the sweetest. I love his talent. I just want more of Wildflower by Megan Derr.
Megan derr's short stories are as good as they are frustrating, because they are short. You quickly get involved whith the characters and story and suddenly it ends and always leave a taste of wanting to know more. It was a sweet story
